Came here, signed a quick waiver on frame and got measured for new lenses off my updated script. The entire process was quick and easy, hardest part was finding a parking spot on my first visit. Best place to buy eyeglasses in the Phoenix area. This is a lab so they make them there. Only have to send them out for the anti glare finish. I had 3 pairs of glasses that I needed to get new lenses and really couldn't afford all of them. I had been to my optometrist and to replace the progressive lens WITH my insurance was $235 for 1 pair. For the next 2 I would have to pay full price as my insurance covers 1 pair a year. I got all three replaced (2 tinted lenses, 1 clear for computer use) for a total of $500. So far, so good. Hoping when I pick them up they are as I ordered. __________________________________________________________- There was a problem since I first posted this review. When I picked up my glasses the lenses were not tinted to the color I had on the previous pairs. They tried 2 times on my purplish lenses but couldn't get them right. They said they would try one more timed. I said they needed to add more blue to get the right shade. They tried again (said it would be their last try) and got them a little closer. The brown lenses they did them 2 times and still not right. I asked them to try again and use a yellow tone not a rose tone in the brown formula. They say they were unable to do this. So if the lenses color does not bother you then this is the place to purchase your lenses and if you want them to be a certain hue then I say to go somewhere else and pay the extra bucks. read more

I had a pair of DSO brand sunglasses that had been in my glove box for a long time. I misplaced the screw to one of the earpieces and couldn't find one that fit. I tried a couple different eyeglass repair kits to no avail. I was driving down 32nd street and saw their sign and decided to pop in to see if they could help. They assisted me right away and made me feel like I had purchased the glasses at their store. I had never bought anything from them before, so I was a little apprehensive to ask them to help, given they had other customers there who were purchasing. I'm glad I stopped. After about 15 minutes of them trying different screws, they found one that worked. Apparently, the screw for the DSO glasses are a very unique size. Meanwhile, there was an older lady in there who was not very happy. She was upset, but for no good reason. She had purchased a set of transitions and didn't realize they wouldn't work in her car. The staff at Avante explains that to all their customers, as I heard it a few times while waiting. Apparently the car windows/tint block the UV, which prevents the transitions from activating. Regardless, this old lady was fired up. I watched as they handled her and the issue with grace and poise. I was impressed at the you guy that took the customer out in the sun and showed her how they work. All the while, Avante was 100% right and the customer was 100% wrong, but they handled it with the right touch. The customer did end up apologizing as I think she was totally embarrassed, since we all got to see her unwarranted tirade. I also learned some things about UV light and transition lenses! He brought them out about 15 minutes later and handed them to me completely fixed. I asked him how much and he said have a good day. Amazing. I will definitely be back for my next pair. read more

I accidentally sat on my metal-framed eyeglasses a few days ago. I went back to Avante where I had purchased them and asked if they could possibly fix them. They did! I was out of there in 15 minutes or so and can still wear my glasses. Thank goodness for Avante and their employees. read more

I had some problems with my purchase. I was told the glasses would be ready the next day and was offered a discount for cash. I left to withdraw the cash at an ATM, and when I returned and after I had paid, I was told the job had to be sent outside and the glasses would be ready the following week. When I went to pick up the glasses a week later, the glasses had the wrong lenses, which resulted in another week's delay. The optician tried to talk me into buying the glasses at a reduced price. I have the glasses now with progressive lenses. They work fine for distance vision, but the near vision is not nearly as sharp as my old glasses, which I had made in Mexico. The glasses are mainly for outdoor sporting use, so the near vision isn't as critical as it is for my everyday glasses. Nevertheless, seeing that they cost me more than $300, I think more care could have been taken to get the near-vision portion of the lenses correct. read more
