I'd give Auto Tek more stars if I could. My check engine light was on and after some quick research I noticed Auto Tek was a certified Nissan repair center so I made an appointment to get it checked out and I'm so thankful I did. The employees at Auto Tek are not only very knowledgeable but also so nice and SO great when it comes to communication. They have an online system that keeps you in the loop on what's going on with your car from drop off to pick up. Their pricing is very fair and they did a great job of explaining exactly what was wrong and what was going to be needed to fix it. I highly recommend Auto Tek and will absolutely be bringing my car back to them as needed. read more

I had a great experience with Auto Tek-Aaron and Jake were so patient and worked on my A/C compressor until it was fixed. I had to bring it back a couple of times due to a defective part. Very organized, honest, professional and a clean shop. They even followed up with me after the repair was complete. Listen to the reviews. I am so glad that my Yelp search brought me to this place after I was trying to get a weird noise under my hood diagnosed. Off the bat, Andreah (service advisor) hopped on the phone call with me and said that I was free to drop off the car ASAP to get it looked at. Not even a few hours later, she emailed a beautiful spreadsheet detailing all parts that needed to be replaced as soon as possible versus down the road. Special shout out to the technician, Joel, for his sharp eye and attention to detail! I appreciate that their business model is customer-friendly - it does not seem at all like a cash grab!! Total waste of time! Discount tires referred me to this shop. Made an appoint for 8:30am. Dropped off car at 7am and went to work. At 3:30pm (8.5 hours later) they had not even started on repair. I would never use these guys or refer them to anyone. The next day I Went to Austin Automotive Specialist. Had a 8am appointment. They actually care about customers time. They are straightforward about pricing and never try to sell you something you don't need: they are realistic and trustworthy. The last time I had my 10 year old car in the shop I was seriously considering purchasing a new car, and Michael was so patient as I decided whether I should invest in certain repairs. He happily returned my calls, answered all my questions, and completely understood my position as a recent college grad trying to decide whether I should invest in my old car or take on a new car payment. Just read a quote from this outfit. IMO beware. Among many things on the quote was one item for a battery. The battery price was way over priced at $180.00+/- and the labor cost to install as $60 which included "cable servicing". This service should not take more than 15 minutes. This was quoted as a four year battery. On average, a battery is good for about three years with the extra year used to "roll you over" with the same brand. I suspect that the couple of other reviews are from folks that just don't know any better. read more

I had a great experience with AutoTek previously, but, unfortunately, my most recent experience was along the lines of what you typically expect from other mechanics. Not good. Long and short of it is the quoted price of repairs was significantly higher than what the dealer would charge (I ran it by another GM-certified mechanic and he was shocked). A part that wholesales for $650 and retails at the GM dealer for $850 was marked up to $1,600 here. Plus the service rates were significantly higher than the dealer charges. I'm a capitalist, so I get the free market and don't begrudge charging premium prices. I just can't justify that level of "premium". read more

Having just moved to south ATX I needed to find a trustworthy auto repair shop that understood Japanese vehicles. A good friend recommended Auto Tek to me so I checked them out on Yelp and it validated my friend's recommendation in a big way. So when my 2001 RAV4 developed some issues after many years of no repairs needed I took it over to Aaron and the gang at Auto Tek and felt like I was in good hands from the get-go. They did an excellent job diagnosing the reasons for my check engine light turning on after a long, hot drive and did just as good a job repairing my venerable ride as well. My RAV4 (with over 200k miles) is running like a champ, feels solid and I am very satisfied with the work that Auto Tek did for me. They may not have been my cheapest option but I don't mind paying the freight for work well done and engendering the feeling of trust, especially first time out. This will absolutely be my new car go-to!!! After feeling very frustrated at the Toyota dealership for a $4000 quote on repairs I wasn't expecting, I decided to get a second opinion and called AutoTek as soon as they opened the next day. Not only did they quote me at HALF THE PRICE y'all, their staff has been so communicative, friendly, informative and helpful. I had just started a new job and really needed my car as soon as possible. Michael mentioned they were booked out for weeks, but that after hearing my situation, he'd slide me into the schedule that Monday and my car was finished by Wednesday (replaced both front wheel bearings, all four brakes, and air filter box). They also sent me a detailed red/yellow/green report so I can anticipate future repairs/maintenance. I just really felt like they cared and felt so much more informed. I'm still amazed at how he kindly expedited the process and they did amazing work. My car was a little grimy after (had some sticky stuff kind of all over), but hey, I had such a great experience that I don't even care. I'm never taking my car anywhere else! Their staff is amazing. Drove my car cross country a year ago and figured it was time to get it looked at for an oil change and maintenance. Moving to a new city and finding a trustworthy mechanic is tough but Yelp lead me to Autotek and Yelp delivered! Booked an appointment online and brought my car in for service. Staff is really nice! It's a family owned business and you can tell they're genuinely looking out for you. They gave me a ride home which was awesome. When I came back, they explained all of the things they found during the check and recommendations on what to do. Didn't try to sell me on anything extra and actually recommended ways to get things taken care of and how to get a discount. I've never had such a positive pleasant experience with a mechanic and will be coming here for all of my needs. read more

I think it's about time I left a review for Auto Tek even though I have been a customer of theirs for about 2 years. (Sorry it took so long) Everything you read in the 5* reviews is true. The guys and gals here literally go above and beyond to help you, I always leave satisfied that my vehicle is in safe hands and I'm not going to be ripped off. My most recent problem was my Jetta intermittently starting. I showed up and the shop with only a moments notice. The guys were able to fit me in and solve the problem I was having. (A new battery as suspected). They had my vehicle for approximately 4 hours and I had it back in perfect working condition by midday. Thank you!! These guys here will always tell you if any parts are going to need to be replaced in the future. If it's not a dangerous problem, and it's not something you can afford right away they will let you know and give you a time frame to have it replaced. This is very honest of them. Most experiences I've had with mechanics, they make recommendations based on what will make them the most money right then and there. I never feel that way about Auto Tek. With a house full of kids, it's no wonder we'd get the car from hades...... Our 2002 Protege was subjected to an interlock device (don't ask.... ) When the device was removed, the car was left with a legacy electrical issue that caused start failures, but only on occasion. After several repair efforts from 3 different technicians, we took the vehicle to Auto Tek. They offered a $99 diagnostic fee and had fabulous Yelp reviews, so why not? As with all intermittent bugs it took a couple of days for Aaron and the team to experience a "non-start". They recommended a new starter, we said ok, they replaced it. Only to have the car fail once again. This time, they traced the electrical system and found a faulty ground. Repaired, new starter ordered and installed. We drove it home after writing a check for just under $500 (they did an inspection and oil change as well.) Fast forward a month, no start. But this time, the battery is dead. (It just gets wierder and wierder) We replace the battery, all is well for a couple of weeks and bam, no starts begin again. We take it back to Auto Tek and they test start it 20 times a day for a week. We decide to take the alarm system out of the car (it's a pain anyway) and they test for another week. Hmm, it starts every time. I take it home and I'm now on week 3, after also taking it on a short road trip to make certain (we're giving it to the youngest kid and need reliability) It starts now. Every. Single. Time. And, Auto Tek charged us $0 for the second visit, which you know was a pain in the tail for their techs. I offered to buy the team lunch and was soundly refused. They were doing their jobs. Can't say enough wonderful things about their tenacity, integrity and friendliness. These are pros. Go! read more

My family drove to Austin from Odessa for my husband's surgery. Our usually trusty car broke down outside of San Angelo, and it was late at night so no mechanics or auto parts stores were open. We got a tow to Austin and left our car at Auto Tek (2am!). They have a Dropbox, so you can leave your car, and put the keys and a description of the problem in the box, for them to see when they open. I called Auto Tek that morning , and spoke with Aaron. They are a very busy car shop, and anyone else wouldn't have had time to get to us for several days! I explained to him that I had to take two days off to drive my husband in for surgery and we really needed to leave the following day because I'm a teacher, with no days off to spare! (I think people have a hard time understanding how hard it is for a teacher to take time off, and to get a sub for massive classes)! Aaron was so KIND!! Told me not to worry, they would work to get us out the next day and HE did!!! They dropped the tank, replaced the fuel pump and relay, and even credited us for some of the fuel that they spilled out of our tank! These guys are HONEST!!! Fantastic customer service. My car started to occasionally break down. Meaning the battery was brand new but after every few weeks it wouldn't start even though it had power. I initially took it to Auto Tek after getting it jumped and had them do the diagnosis for $37. Unfortunately the problem never happened for them so they weren't able to diagnose. Picked up my car and less than a week later it broke down again. This time I just had it towed back to Auto Tek so the problem was still presenting. They immediately identified what was wrong and found a reliable after market solution that didn't break the bank! Getting options from a Mechanic is a great display of them not being out to get as much money from you as possible. They also didn't charge me a second diagnosis fee. I will go back to Auto Tek for any future auto mechanical needs after receiving such honest and good work. read more

Took in my 2014 Tacoma with a bad HVAC, inspection needed and radio speakers intermittent. They did a complete survey of the entire truck, with conditions listed for everything, did the state inspection. The speaker problem turned out to be the stock truck radio and they recommended I go to a separate vendor (car stereo store for example) to get that fixed. The HVAC fix wasn't cheap but all of it was clearly explained. They stayed late to get it out in one day, and I picked it up the next morning. Works great, engine even runs smoother with the replaced HVAC compressor. And they checked up on me twice afterwards to make sure it was all OK. I'll be back. read more

I am crying while I write this sweet sweet goodbye to these wonderful people. I am moving at the end of this year and cannot pack AutoTek with me. Such a shame, because they do amazing work!!! I honestly cannot say enough good things about AutoTek and its employees. These people really know how to make you and your car well cared for! Over the last 3 years they ALWAYS answer any of my questions when I call or drop-in. Yes. I give five stars to Autotek because they completely deserve it. I should have done this review some time ago. I have been taking my two cars to them for about five years now. When I first found them, I was researching auto repair shops online as you are doing now. Since my cars were out-of-warranty, I was looking for a shop that would be more reasonable in cost than the dealership repair shops where I had previously gone. That they are. Not only is their work reasonably priced but they actually care about the quality of their work. Plus, they are very patient and friendly which makes a big difference with me. They make every attempt to explain the repair needed in their estimate and to inform you of the progress of the repair. They will drive you home and pick you up after the repair is completed. Plus, they check in with you by phone and text you after your car is returned to you to make sure that everything is satisfactory. I can't remember an auto shop ever checking in with me a week after the repair. On a recent repair, Autotek mechanics went to a lot of time and trouble to diagnose a difficult problem with one of my cars. However, the cost of the repair was very reasonable. I don't think that I would have been so lucky had I gone to a dealership or another repair shop. I've been dealing with Aaron, the manager of Autotek most of the time. Besides his excellent qualifications, he's simply a good guy. Michael is another extremely qualified person and a good guy. Actually, everyone has been great. If you're looking for an excellent auto repair shop, give these guys a try. read more

OMG, this will probably backfire on me and I will never be able to get an appt with Auto-tek again, BUT I have to give you a brief review without boring you to death. This shop should have an award for being the best auto repair shop in the country. They are kind, supportive, fair and HONEST. Did you hear me HONEST! I have a 2014 5.0 Super-charged Jaguar and was afraid they could not work on it. I despise the Jag Dealership here in town and do not know why JagUSA even let's them operate using their name. They lie and cheat all the time. Last time I was there, they told me I had oil leaking and needed new seals and gaskets to the tune of $2600. I looked at my garage floor and saw nothing and with only 18,500 miles on my called them back and then they made up another excuse saying, well maybe I did not see anything because my car had LOW mileage and my parts were just old?? Can you imagine?? Anyway back to the shop of the century...They checked it and nothing was going on. They also have worked on a my older 2006 Jag xk8 for various repairs and did unbelievable work at very FAIR prices. There have been times when they could have taken me to the cleaners, but were honest instead and said "why don"t you just wait a while?" OR "you still have time before you really need this request done, just wait and come back." What auto-shop does that??? Auto-tek, that's who! I am proud to recommend them to my friends, because I know they will be taken care of.....and everyone that works there is knowledgable, kind, supportive. One last point, I am a woman and have been talked down to all the time by auto shops, I'm sure men do too for that matter and they treat me like I am some dumb blonde with their condescending attitudes and double talk. It is so refreshing to be talked to intelligently and treated with respect. If you are a man or woman they take the time to make sure you understand the work and offer alternative options if available. Auto Tek managed to address all the needed repairs in one day and did it very affordably. Auto Tek is 5 stars across the board for good reason! Professional, knowledgeable and dignified! Been coming to them for a while now and they always impress me. VERY personable and without ulterior motives to milk me for money. Especially coming from a female, guys see me walk in and try to take advantage of my lack of knowledge. But from my personal experience I can say these guys sleep guilt free at night (unlike other sleazy auto shops). Last time I came in to get something checked out they immediately called to inform me that the service technician backed into something and left a small dent on my bumper. Instead of hiding the mistake they were upfront and honest! Not only did they offer to take care of the cosmetic damage but also gave me the option to fix any technical issues with my car if that was more important to me. Definitely earned my trust and loyalty. If you can wait for these guys to check out your vehicle, DO IT! They also won't try and swindle you into a new set of struts ($1000) when the tire wrench was just loose in the back. *cough* Firestone *cough*. I first heard about them through a friend who would take his finicky Audi to them from time to time. They always did good for him so I decided to trust them with the 2 cars in my household. What I love about them is that they don't upsell you crap and cut through all the BS. In fact, they do a very thorough job in explaining everything so you can prioritize repairs with your given budget. I really appreciate that level of help and service. So I've never had a better experience at a repair facility than I did at Auto Tek! I just moved to Austin a few months back and I needed some work done on my town and country. Not knowing any shops I decided to go on Nextdoor to see what my neighbors were recommending for auto repair. Low and behold Auto Tek popped up with multiple positive reviews. I than looked on yelp and was astounded by there 5 star rating with over 100 reviews! What!? Look I've worked in the auto business for years- repair shops are notorious for ripping people off but Auto Tek is the complete opposite. From start to finish these guys were efficient, communicative to the T and just really personable and nice guys! Since July of last year I clocked over 23000 miles driving from NYC to Cali to WA to Utah and finally here to Austin so my van needed a bit of attention. My rear wheel hub was shot, I needed a new radiator and some other small things needed to be addressed. I had a extended warranty on the van that Michael handled like a pro, they were able to cover over 80% of the bill. Michael even printed up some recall info for me. I cannot say enough good things about Auto Tek- I'm grateful that I found them. I would recommend anyone who needs car repair to them! They treat you the way you would want to be treated!! read more
