My husband found this place on Yelp. We live out by the Bee Caves area, and our regular car shop told us we needed a new transmission. The car is old, and we doubt installing a new transmission would be worth installing. However, with car prices, what they are now, and the fact that my 90-year-old father can get in and out of this car more easily than anything else we own, we thought we would get another quote. Tim called my husband and said I do not think what you are feeling is a transmission issue, but a power issue. You need some new spark plugs or at least start there. WOW. I honestly was in shock. What an honest man. He could have given us a quote vs telling us I think you need a $50 fix. I was blown away. It is a rare thing to have such an honest shop. They didn't charge us a thing. We were able to drop off and pick up the car outside normal business hours as they had a drop off box. Then they just put the key in the car and we have a code on the door to open the car. After speaking with my stepson, Tim is very honest and will do you right. I was at the mercy of Tim even though I was 500 miles from Austin myself in Amarillo Texas. My stepson who lives in Austin vehicle was not shifting. I called around myself, trying to find a dependable transmission shop who would give me an honest diagnoses.. After Tim evaluated the vehicle and then speaking with my son their stories matched up, even though they have never met each other because I used a tow service to deliver the vehicle. Tim said the root of the cause was that there was different size tires put on the vehicle, one tire that was a different size then the other 3 that caused the all-wheel-drive vehicle to malfunction. I called my stepson to see if he had put tires on the vehicle lately he said yes he put three tires on it about a month ago because it was cheaper for him to purchase 3 and not 4.. I brought my 200k mile 2011 F150 into Tim because the transmission was slipping when I went up hills. Tim took a look at it and got it back to me in 2 days. They went to all the trouble to test it and run diagnostics to find the problem- they eventually found out it was just that the fluid was filled too high. I was worried that the transmission of our old vehicle might be having a problem that would be worsened if I drove it. I called and described the symptoms to Tim, who recommended that I have it towed rather than trying to limp in, thereby perhaps doing damage that could have been avoided. I followed his advice and let him know that there was no particular hurry. Within 3 or 4 days, Tim called to let me know that the transmission had been two quarts low on fluid and that, once they topped it off, he could not replicate the symptoms I had reported. Once I arrived at the facility to pick it up, he gave me comprehensive and easily understood instructions regarding the correct way to check the fluid level in our specific vehicle. He then asked one of the workers to retrieve the vehicle from the back lot and bring it up front for me to take home. I said, "Surely I must owe you something." His response: "Not a dime." It is obvious that a business with less integrity might have used this as an opportunity to separate me from a large amount of money. In fact, we took a different old vehicle to him several years ago and it truly did need four figures worth of repairs. But when this one did not have such a need, he did not treat as though it did. It is impossible to imagine a business with a higher level of integrity and customer service, this in an industry that is notorious for the opposite. I took my car to Eagle based on a recommendation and the error codes presented on my car. Eagle did a full evaluation with diagnostics and driving car multiple times. They revealed the codes, but said the transmission had no issue and the problems were electrical. They did NOT charge me for this at all and gave me the paperwork to show all of their evaluation work on the car. I took my car in for a leaking seal. The transmission shifted fine but was leaking. I was told "no if's and's or but's my transmission needed to be rebuilt"... $3500! What they didnt know is that I know my way around a transmission a bit and already knew what was wrong. This was around April of 2018. Ive since continued to driven the vehicle to prove a point. It's now 6months later, car still shifts fine and still leaks from the front seal. I would fix it myself now but intend to sell it for other reasons. These people are CONS!!! LIARS!!! Just like all mechanics!! They didn't even bother to look at my car! They simply moved it to a different parking space to appear that they did!! Very nice people, but don't take your car there if it is an old luxury car like my 1975 Rolls Royce that has a common GM Hydramatic transmission. It had some leaks but Tim did not want to work on it at all, even to do a minor outside seal job (transmission is kept in place). Tim stated that it was not good to "disturb" anything. Yes, I guess those common o-rings can get pretty vicious if they are disturbed. Give me a break. I can understand if they don't want to do some minor transmission repairs on this car but I wish they hadn't kept it overnight only to tell me they didn't want to "disturb" anything (that disturbed me). Best service I have ever got from anywhere. My SUV developed a shuddering problem recently. I had the transmission flushed at the dealership after some research online, but that did not help at all. I found their shop by searching "best transmission service in Austin" and called them.
