My transmission started overheating and I crippled into Eagle Transmission on Menchaca Rd. in Austin,Texas. The office staff was very nice. I left my 2004 Silverado truck with them and they gave me the options of a rebuilt or a new transmission and I opted for the new transmission. The supply chain was out of my model transmission but they ordered one and installed the new transmission once it came in. No problems with the new transmission. I returned for my 500 mile check up which only took about ten minutes. I have no complaints with their service at all. I will bring my next problem transmission to them in the future. read more

I drove my 2013 F150 Limited to Eagle Transmission on a Monday because there was minimum slipping between 3rd and 4th gear. Truck was running fine on all gears and even reverse was working fine when I dropped it off. I left the truck at Eagle Transmission for a few days for a free diagnostic. I get a call on Wednesday saying my transmission failed while out on a test drive down the road. The technician had to limp my truck back to the shop and almost didn't make it back. Tim said the cost would be a complete transmission rebuild 5 to 6k and the repairs would take a month to complete. I asked if the truck was drivable, and Tim said yes. I went and picked up my truck on a Wednesday and tried to drive it home. I did not even get 1/2 mile down the road when I started getting engine warning lights on the dash. I could hear the transmission making noises I didn't hear before. Transmission failed and left me stranded in rush hour traffic. After some trial and error, I was able to get my truck into a private parking lot and out of the street. My truck was in worse condition when I picked it up then when I dropped it off in the beginning. I believe the technician while test driving my truck really messed up the transmission on purpose so I would get my truck repaired at Eagle Transmission. I would not use this shop for transmission work. I believe their technicians are untrustworthy and unethical. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place. read more

I left a review some time ago, but for whatever reason it seems to have disappeared from publication. In any event, I recommend Eagle Transmission on Manchaca Rd unequivocally and without reservation. In early 2020, I brought my 2007 Chevrolet Impala to Eagle due to abrupt shift-shock that was occurring at low speeds and low gears. To make a long story short, they discovered a slow leak in my transmission due to corrosion from my car's time in the ice, snow, and road salt of the North. Here is the most important consideration: Tim, the manager, was honest with me. He indicated that his team could attempt repairs on my vehicle, but that the corrosion was so extensive that such repairs could actually result in further damage exceeding the value of the car. An operation with less integrity could have tried to make any number of costly, inadvisable recommendations, but Eagle did the opposite. They gave me their honest, professional opinion, topped off my transmission fluid, and bid me well. They didn't even charge me anything--all they asked was that I leave them a review online. The epilogue is that I concluded my otherwise pristine Impala was dying on the inside, and so I reluctantly traded her in. With that said, if I have any future transmission problems, I will be returning to Eagle Transmission. My experiences have shown me that when seeking automotive help integrity matters every bit as much as mechanical competence. I think you'll find both at Eagle. read more

Integrity, thy name is Eagle Transmission. I know a little about auto Maintenance & repair. Enough to get myself in trouble usually. I try to do too much or think I know more than I do or believe that if I drink enough whiskey the solution will come to me. That last one is such a solid, common sense plan that I'm often amazed at how unsuccessful it is. My 10 year old Exploder was getting downright cranky about shifting gears. Towards the end at stoplights it decided to not shift into gear at all and just chilled out in neutral. I'm an easygoing guy and I'd just let her have her way when these moments arose. You'd be surprised how many other motorists found this unacceptable. I was surprised at all the hand gestures I'd never seen before that referenced self love. Some of them were quite graceful. So I finally nursed the old girl home and popped the hood and checked the tranny for fluid. But I forgot to keep the motor running. The level looked OK, slightly above the 'add' line, but it wasn't really well coated. That's really all I knew to do so I went immediately to the 'drink whiskey until the answer comes to you' method. The next day Mistress Linda woke me up rudely by turning on the lights at the crack of noon and snarling 'whaddaya say you get up and get the Explorer fixed?' She swears she was barely above a whisper but believe me, she was bellowing. I had a snappy comeback but someone had glued my tongue to the roof of my mouth. I oozed out of bed anyway and after gargling some nail polish remover to get my tongue unstuck, I agreed to call Eagle because of the many good Yelp reviews. Once again Yelp nailed it. Tim, the manager, told me to bring it in whenever I could so I ran the gantlet of Austin road rage once again until I coasted into Eagle's drive with Mistress Linda behind me pretending to be a complete stranger to avoid the 'rage by association' phenomenon. Tim asked if he could keep the Exploder a couple of days and drive it to give it a good diagnosis before giving me a repair estimate. I was only too glad to give the increasingly maddened motorists a fresh target. Two days later he called and told me to come pick it up. I drove down preparing for the cost of a rebuilt transmission, but when I got there he handed me the keys and said 'she's good to go, no charge.' What?!?! 'The transmission was about 2 and a half quarts low. When you checked it, did you leave it running? If you've been having your fluids checked somewhere I'd go ask for my money back' Tim said with a smile. Wow, thanks! But how much for the transmission fluid and the diagnosis? 'There's no charge for a diagnosis, and I'm not going to charge you for a couple quarts of fluid. We only kept it this long to make sure there was no leak and there wasn't.' He said, as if it wasn't worth mentioning. He could have hit me with a massive bill and gotten away with it. I'd screwed up and would have easily believed him and he knew it. But he didn't He didn't charge me at all. Because he, and Eagle transmission, have integrity. This can't be overstated. He had a free shot and instead he helped me out and didn't charge me at all. I sailed into traffic and stopped at a light feeling bulletproof. When it turned green the Exploder surged forward like a 3 to 1 favorite at Belmont. I waved to my fellow drivers and made a few of the more obscure hand gestures just for old times' sake. It felt good. Best Transmission shop I've ever had to deal with. Tim is a great manager and is their to help you. I am always a little scared to take my vehicles to someone new, but these guys hands down treat you right the first time and get it done. I took my Land cruiser in for a transmission rebuild, mind you I have a Chevy motor and transmission conversion in it. I had some problems with the transfer case not wanting to do what it was suppose to after they rebuilt the transmission and reinstalled everything. But instead of just sending me up the road to Toyota to fix the transfer case they did everything in there power to make sure it was right before I drove it off the lot. My 300ZX kept having transmission problems. Did a couple JDM swaps, but those only lasted so long. Then, I finally bit the bullet and plunked down the cash for a real replacement transmission, completely rebuilt by Eagle. It wasn't cheap, but it wasn't a ripoff, either. Just what you would expect to pay for quality work and not a dime more or less. But what really sold me was the warranty. A little over 2 years after Eagle re-built my transmission, it went out again. The shop examined the vehicle and determined it was a bad driveshaft that kept causing my transmissions to go out. They had the driveshaft fixed by a local driveshaft shop for a reasonable price, then rebuilt my transmission AGAIN, FOR FREE! That is above and beyond the call of duty or obligations of their warranty. Some people think that it's a better idea to just get a new car if your automatic transmission wears out. And that may be true of some cars, if it's nothing special, just an economy car with no sentimental value. But some cars have engines that can easily go 200k, and it makes sense to fix the transmission, if only to get the full life of the engine. And some cars are just special. Classic sportscars and old hot rods you fall in love with. You don't understand love until you've loved a car. You keep loving it even as it continues to fall apart. read more

If you have a Nissan from 2005-2009 you know exactly what led me here. My 2007 Frontier needed an entire transmission replacement. I had originally taken her to a different shop that AAA was partnered with and offered a discount if she was towed there. The other place quoted me at a price that felt ridiculous with my existing car knowledge. I called around and Eagle not only quoted me at two thousand dollars less, but they were just easier to talk to and a whole heck of a lot more friendly than anywhere else I had called. Got her towed to Eagle and a week later they had taken care of absolutely everything for me at the price one would expect for an entire transmission swap, not a penny higher! If you care about your car DO NOT TAKE IT HERE!! From the start you will get an attitude from George the receptionist. Every time I called and asked for an update he refused to let me know whats happening with my car even though it's on their property with their mechanics working on it. On top of that they DAMAGED my rear bumper ($400 rare Aspec lip) which I have PROOF in pictures it was not like that when I dropped it off. My girlfriend went to pick up my car once the transmission job was done and noticed the scratches and called me about it. I had advised her to speak with Tim about the damage but during that time she was uncomfortable because there was a man right in of the shop doors asking where she lived and if she could give her a ride in my car. So I told her to get out of there ASAP. George was the kid who pulled my car around for her to take and saw the whole interaction of a creepy man asking her for a ride and didn't even do anything about it, instead he just casually walked back into the shop. We had a transmission problem, we made dozens of phone call trying to find a reasonable quote to fix our car's transmission problem, most of mechanic shop giving an unbelievable expensive quote from $4000-$7000, it was really frustrating until we called Tim at Eagle Transmission, he answered our concerns in very professional way, so we towed our car to their location on Monday, I was expected waited for at least 1 week to get my car fix(that was the time frame other mechanic shops gave us), but just one day later Tuesday I got the call from Eagle transmission notified me my car is ready to go! Stay away from this place!!! The transmission malfunction light came on in my BMW 330i. My regular mechanic recommended taking my car to Eagle Transmission on Manchacha since his company did not perform internal work on automatic transmissions. The mechanic at Eagle Transmission ran a diagnostic test on my car. He informed me that it would cost an estimated $7400-$8500 to repair my car. His quote seemed extremely high to me. This was the first time the transmission malfunction light had ever come on in my car, the car was still drivable, and the transmission would still engage in every gear. The quote forced me to seek a second opinion at Aamco on Burnet Road. Aamco was able to repair my car for less than $400. My car is running extremely well (actually better than it was prior to the transmission malfunction light), and changing gears beautifully. This is my first negative review (and hopefully the last). It doesn't feel good to write a review like this, but you do the math. Glad that Eagle Transmission's quote was so outrageous that it led me to seek a second opinion, and ultimately find Aamco. Wish Eagle Transmission would have just told me that they didn't want to work on my car. read more

Eagle Transmission was recommended to me by another auto repair shop. After a diagnostic was done at Eagle, they said my problem was not in my transmission. They wrote down all of the diagnostic codes and recommended another shop that specialized in that type of repair. AND they didn't charge me for the diagnostic. Thanks Yelpers! I went to Eagle with my POS Audi based on the reviews I found here. I was NOT dissapointed. Here's the deal: took my '03 A4 (worth about $8500) becasue first gear seems to be slipping a bit. Tim said they would call me after they tested it out. The next day, Tim calls and says he wishes he had better news. They thought 1st gear was slipping too. BUT, Tim said they could not complete a full diagnostic check without the car's Electrical Control Unit being updated with the latest software. Without that, they cannot determine what is wrong. What's more, Tim says this may very well fix the issue. The bad news? If the transmission has gear issues, parts are no longer sold, I would have to buy a new Audi transmission which goes for about $6,000! Tim suggested I get the software updated before we proceed any further. Heh, heh...$6,000+ to fix an $8,500 car. Rock and a hard place. Now how many places would have told me "dude, the transmission has major problems and is about to go. Can't get parts, so it'll be $6,000 plus installation to get you back on the road again.." Know what Tim said when I asked him how much I owed him for the diagnostic service? "No charge"! I'll be back to see Tim and Eagle Transmission ANY time I have transmission problems. My usual (and trusted) mechanic suggested i needed a whole new clutch, maybe because he didn't really put in the time to inspect it thoroughly, and another mechanic said the same thing, but the way it was acting (no resistance on the pedal) didn't seem to warrant that, necessarily. So, i looked on Yelp, found the great reviews for this place and took my little truck over there. Well, they found the problem (slave and master cylinders) and didn't have to install a whole new clutch. They were extremely honest and transparent, and they saved me a bundle. This is an A1 operation. Seriously. I'm going go send anyone i know that needs transmission or clutch work done over to them. I have to say all these reviews are right on the money -- Eagle Transmission is a 5-star business. I was on the way out of town and my 2003 Honda Odyssey's transmission completely died. We were able to limp it to Eagle Transmission. Tim was so understanding and addressed all my concerns (mainly, cost, warranty, and time in the shop). Not only did they come in at the low end of the estimate range, but they were finished within the time quoted -- and that even included the July 4th holiday!! Tim kept me informed of the progress as well, which I really appreciated. And I also agree with previous posts that the warranty (INCLUDED!!) can't be beat. Because they are confident in their work, I am confident driving my family around in my repaired minivan. Eagle Transmission is the best place to take your car. Had a problem with a car my son was using in Austin. He thought it was the transmission. I live in Denver and used yelp and come comparison shopping to find a reputable place to take it to. Very quickly they test drove the car, diagnosed it and communicated to me that it was an engine problem not a transmission problem. What is amazing and why i wrote this review is that they did not charge me a cent. They referred me to an engine shop and there it was repaired successfully. They spent lots of time looking at this car and communicating with me and did not charge. I am very happy with the guys at Eagle. I had bought a new truck that had problems right from the jump. I took it to Eagle they told me it needed a new clutch and there was also a thumping They couldn't Identify. I also went and got bids from two other shops, then took it back to Eagle. Due to the way they treated me and my wife and also how Knowledgeable Tim the manager was. Not only that but he is kind and professional and will look you right in the eyes when speaking to you. It turns out the clutch was fixed great feels like a new truck and the thumping was due to the horrible technician at the dealership putting in wrong fluid and zip tied parts of the clutch. Tim could of said the thumping was something else and charged me a bunch of money. But he is honest as they come and told me the thumping went away once they put the right fluid in and fixed the zip tie bandaid from the dealer. I recently brought in my old Scout II due to a pretty serious transmission leak... they stored it in the shop over the weekend and let me know that it was only a faulty "neutral safety switch". They could have told me it was something much worse and I would have believed them... in the end they ended up replacing the switch for no charge. My car was clearly having transmission problems, and I knew the second I stepped foot in any transmission repair shop I probably wasn't getting out for under a couple hundred dollars. Tim at Eagle Transmission was nice as could be, took my keys and called me a few hours later to explain I had a communication issue between some of the modules in my car. He said they had fixed the issue for now but if it came up again I may want to consider replacing it. When I went in to pick up the car, he didn't charge me a thing for the diagnosis even though I know they must have spent some time on it. My clutch was slipping, eventually my top speed was about 10-15 mph! I parked it, researched where or who I felt I could trust to repair it. Did a Google search, came on Yelp and read hundreds of reviews until I settled on Eagle. I asked for a quote online and someone replied back to me, then I spoke with Tim. Instantly I felt I had found the right place and was not disappointed! It took a day to get find out my worst case scenario quote, which was way lower than my imaginary quote!
