Full disclosure: I've known Jesse Harris, the owner of Auto-Tec for over 15 years now and consider him a friend. With that said, I would still bust his chops if he didn't do an incredible job on my Subaru. Which he did. Of course he did! The kid's been working on Subies since before I met him. Since I've known Jesse, he's always been a man of integrity, a straight-shooter, and a freaking pinball of a human who somehow has the energy to run a couple of ventures and have meaningful conversations with virtually everyone who drives up. Literally, I'm pretty sure I watched him bounce from talking with a parts driver about crank shafts or something (I don't know cars, obviously, that's the whole premise of this yelp review), to waxing poetic on the virtues of self-determination with a Mazda driver, to dropping some great U.S. history knowledge on an Audi driver! Really got to hand it to Jesse, Randi and team. Our first meeting was an emergency and he did a minor fix for nothing. Then I brought him a real stumper. A previous out of state mechanic left a paper towel in my motor which clogged up the coolant system. Days of searching and Jesse just wouldn't give up on searching for the cause of my overheat. I was driving my family from Reno to 6 Flags in Vallejo when my Tahoe's battery light came on as I was coming over the pass. It continued to turn on and off and the volt meter kept going from 9 to 14. We stopped in Colfax and started calling repair shops in Roseville. All shops were booked up and couldn't see us today. The last place I called said they trusted Auto-Tec and recommend we try there. My wife called and spoke with the receptionist who was not only friendly but told her to call back if broke down prior to our arrival and she would send us a tow truck. We arrived approximately 25 minutes later and were greeted right in the parking lot. The owner came out and immediately started checking our vehicle. He did a thorough job and covering all his basis to make sure we got the right diagnosis. He was friendly and made a very stressful situation, less stressful within minutes of arriving. On a side note, there's a really good burrito place called Messy's that has amazing food. I have a 1952 studerbaker ask owner if he could get it started and bleed the brakes he said ok then he calls me two weeks after having the the car there telling me the wheel cylinders were shot and brake fluid saturated the brake shoes the wiring was shot charges me $120 plus 5gals of gas so I picked it up took it to another shop the they had to take a puller to get the brake drums off witch ment he never looked at the braked we looked and everything was new it took 15 mins to get it started and bled the brakes and drove off the owner at auto tec told me it would cost me 4 to 5 thousand to get it running very dishonest person he lied every thing was fine beware read more

We hit something scary at speed which tore a hole in our coolant hose and dumped our coolant all over I-80. The first place we called referred us to Auto-Tec, and we're so glad they did. Jesse and his crew are ridiculously helpful and good-natured, and they made it a priority to get us back on the road. You know that feeling when you drop your car off for something urgent, go get some food, then come back and they haven't even started yet and the car's still in the lot? We barely turned around and looked back and they already had it in the bay and were working on it. When I initially called , they advised me there would not be an issue if I was supplying my own parts. I set an appointment and met with the owner Jesse. My initial impression of Jesse was he was a straight shooter and wanted it done correct. Jesse fully explained the repair to me and suggested I standby while he began to further investigate the needed repairs. He did an overly thorough job of going over everything with me And promising the vehicle to me by the end of the day. Keeping his word, Jesse completed the job and I picked up my vehicle. I realize that this is the one and only job he has done for me, but I can assure you I will be returning to have my other vehicles serviced.
