I just moved to this area from Pacifica, CA (near San Francisco), so I needed to find new place to go to get work done on my car. I drove up to Roseville a lot before and during the move, so my car was due for an oil change. I am really really glad I found this place. I've been asking around for good shops and someone mentioned there was one in Rocklin. I'm usually pretty skeptical when it comes to people working on my car and being honest about what has to be done (I've had a bad experience elsewhere), but they were completely honest with me regarding the issues the other location had mentioned. I don't know a lot about cars (my bf knows way more), but they were nice enough to check everything for me to make sure there were no issues that needed to be worked on. I am really pleased with the service. The staff was great. Customer service gets an A+. I got the oil change that I needed and I was able to pick it up after work, no wait time..no problems. I bring in the parts and his team installs them and I get a call to come and pick up my car, it's that simple. I found Gallardo's about a year ago and take my vehicles there for service ever since. Took my vehicle in for a water leak that turned out to be a plug that they fixed for 257.00 bucks. OKAY- Here it is 8 weeks later and its leaky again in the same spot, I assumed the plug hadn't been properly installed by this shop and after all they guarantee their work, called them, took it in for the look over. They called the next day telling me it was now a water pump, umm what??? And it would be $ 680.00 bucks...WOW! I Told him to have it ready for me to pick up cause I didn't have that kind of cash right now. I got there to pick up my vehicle, its up on the lift -STILLl,...I was told I'd have to pick it up the next day, get there and he hands me a bill for 50.00 dollars, by now I'm P/O ed. I told him I should be charging you since I couldn't get my vehicle as promised.He laughed and charged me FIFTY BUCKS.. Introduction: I have been a customer of Gallardo's Automotive for almost 25 years-first with Joe Gallardo, then Wes Tripp, who bought the business from Joe. I am on my 3rd vehicle with them as mechanics (yes, I don't buy new cars ALL that often) and cannot say enough good about the customer service, pricing and knowledge. The few times I have had to go elsewhere (the dealer or a franchise/chain, i.e. Midas, etc.) makes me always grateful I can get my car to Gallardo's. The prices are very fair, they are HONEST and STRAIGHTFORWARD as to diagnosis and treatment of my car's problems, and I am out the door with a smile on my face. I did the unthinkable; I took my Kia Sportage to Gallardo's Service (without calling ahead) on a cold and wet Friday night around 4:30 PM and asked if they could take a look at my mechanical situation. To my relief and surprise the owner warmly greeted me and agreed to take a look. Unfortunately they could not make repairs but instead gave me advice how to resolve the issue. On a Wednesday: After reading Yelp reviews on this business, I decided to bring my camry in for a very minor estimate for a cosmetic fix pertaining to my driver side indoor handle. Upon arriving, the mechanic [not Wes] was very nice and thought he could help me by simply screwing in the part. After installing it, we found the door would not properly lock. So he removed the piece. I then spoke to Wes and asked how much it would cost to extensively look into the problem. $55 just to look at it. I told him I'd think about it and call later. I went home. Friday: i got into my car to run errands. Once I arrived to my 1st errand location, I could not open the door. No matter how many times I tried. I had to get out by crawling over & out the passenger side door. So I drive directly to Gallardo's. Wes tried to fix but couldn't. He was able to figure out a way to open the door from the inside, but each try seemed to make it worse and said to bring it in on Monday. Monday: My dad followed me & I drop my camry off in the morning. Wes tried to have me sign an order for $55. I declined to sign stating it was his business that was at fault. He wasn't too happy, but I stood my ground. He reluctantly obliged stating, "That's what we get for being nice...". Geez. He calls me a couple of hours later stating it needs a new part. I decided to leave my car due to the situation being a huge safety issue. Wednesday: Wes calls me, rudely says "part is in, BUT I will not be responsible for any other plastic part breaking during the repair..." We went back & forth at who was at fault with Wes stating it's the car's fault for being old. WTF? I told him to just fix the car so I can open the door. I felt very down & threatened, praying he would not damage my door handle worse. That Wednesday afternoon Wes called with a different tone stating the car handle is fixed and found other mechanical issues with it. He then offered to give me a name of a friend who was selling his car at a very low price. I'm sure he was trying to make nice after our somewhat previously heated phone conversation. That was nice of him, but it didn't change how he made me feel. I give "Gallardo's Auto Repair" 2 stars. 1 star for the very nice mechanic who genuinely tried to help me with a good & happy disposition and 1 star for Wes's 9 year old poodle, Gunner. And that's it. I was sorry to hear Mr Gallardo had just past away about 2 weeks ago. read more

I get the impression that those Auto places that have passed the stringent CA standards to be approved Headlight and/or Brake Adjustment stations use it to their advantage. My first trip here, it didn't seem very busy, but he could not perform the adjustment and had me make an appointment for later. I made the appointment and showed up that day thinking he could fix the car and have the materials. It didn't seem like he even got to my car until after an hour and a half. Then, he did the Headlight adjustment, but gave reasons he couldn't do the Brake portion. I expect an Auto shop to have the expertise necessary, but they were unsure they could even fix an Emergency brake and would not get it done the day that I made an appointment. There was no 'sense of urgency' or much of a care to get my car back into specifications. Rest assured it's a 2005 sturdy car and there was much wrong with it. To be a brake station and not have the parts/be unsure how to fix it - is ridiculous! Also, I went somewhere else and got it fixed in a little over an hour, they didn't whine about parts or how busy they were that day. The building Gallardos is using is way too antiquated and that is probably why they have this sense of entitlement. I expected to pay the price for their service - but some time after the experience realized just how utterly lacking in "service" they are. Side note: I do likely agree with their Political views though. read more

Took my car in to see why it's running rough and stalls sometimes when I stop at a light. Idle issues? Fuel filter issues? Other issues? I spent $100 to have the car diagnosed and was told they can't find any problem because the car didn't stall when they test drove it. I said, "I thought you had a computer that you hook the car to and it tells you where there's a problem." The guy said "I wish it was that simple." Well, I know for a fact that shops use these diagnostic tools all the time. After the $100 was wasted, I decided to diagnose the car to the best of my abilities and told them to check the plugs. They said one was bad, so I told them to replace all 4 of them. Then they managed to tear the wires when they were removing them. New price $100 for diagnostic test that resulted in nothing...and another $180 for 4 spark plugs and wires (which cost around $15 at the store) and an air filter. Total bill $280+. Stay away unless you want to get ripped off! They get one star because they gave me a ride home and back again to pick up the car and I live about 2 miles away. Yes, they took me for a ride! I went to Midas the next day to have them do the work and they were appalled by this story! read more
