Great service. Communication was great. Martin and Josh were both pleasant and very helpful.

3 stars because service was good and my issue was fixed though i have concerns for how exactly it was fixed and what was recommended. I took my 335i in for a misfire in cylinder 4 and found a frayed wire leading to the injector, brought it here and was told the injector was faulty and needed to replaced for $800+the cost of diag so around $1000 total. I decided to just do the repair myself since i really just needed the issue diagnosed but the misfire and drivetrain malfunction hasnt appeared since and when i check the injector it looks like the frayed wire was repaired by the shop. Im glad the issue was fixed but it feels as if they tried to write a better story for an upsell on the service even after the fault was solved. The multipoint inspection was good and worth the price though. read more

My AC stopped working last week when it was 94 degrees and I called PFW where I get my BMW serviced. Martin, the shop manager said bring it to me now when normally you make an appointment. He checked it out, diagnosed the problem and repaired it on the spot. Granted I'm a loyal customer but with as hot as it was he understood the urgency of the situation. Thank you Martin for your expertise and I will continue to refer you to everyone I know who owns a German car. Tim. read more

First time customer, brought my 2004 986 in for an oil change service. A tour of the shop convinced me I'll be using them exclusively in the future. The backroom is organized and clean... eat off the floor clean. The staff is knowledgeable and professional keeping me informed of all aspects of their service. A bit of a drive for me from EDH so timing was critical. One of the few shops I've used that gave me a time of completion and they were spot on at 12 noon. For all you German car lovers out there, check them out. read more

Excellent experience. Capable, speedy, excellent communication and lovely staff. plus very fair pricing. Your car is in great hands with this crew. Five stars! read more

Thorough, fair and honest. Martin and Gary take good care of their customers, they will present all things that are relevant to your cars needs and keep you looped in on what may need to be done later on. The pricing is better than most shops for the quality of work that is done. I would highly recommend any one who owns a German car to have the car serviced here. read more

These guys have been my go to for years! They do dealership like work at much more reasonable prices than the monopolized local Sacramento dealership. If you, like me, have had serious lack of care issues with Niello MINI, these guys will make it all better! Everyone there listens and gives honest, up front estimates. They contact you if they discover something, and don't try to force you to add more services to your appointment, they offer different price points when they can. They're just great. The local monopolized dealership (Niello) could learn A LOT from these guys. I just can't say enough about them. read more

Great service BMW shop. Saved 50% of what the Dealership quoted. Martin the client service was very professional and explained everything. He also kept me updated. Definitely will continue to go again when needed. read more

Overall, Performance Auto Works does good work in my experience going there over the years. However, they massively overcharge for basic services that you can easily do yourself. To do a Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) service they charge $120. You can get the fluid at any auto parts store for about $20. It takes 5 minutes to put def fluid into a BMW 328d with gloves. Yesterday, they charged me $206 labor to replace a car battery even though it took them less than 30 minutes to replace the battery with the required re-programming. Their shop hour is $200+ and hour. If you call them on their obvious overcharge they can only give you a credit on your account which you can only use when you visit them again. But it gets worse, the day before, I called to see if they could replace the 4-year free replacement warranty Bosch S6 Battery they had installed 5 years ago. They said yes, we can replace it for $400. They replaced the battery with an AC Delco 49 AGM with a limited 3-year warranty and only 1-year free replacement, and they charged me $517 (not $400) in total for the Battery with installation. The AC Delco battery is $70 less than the Bosch Battery they installed 5-years ago. I can get this cheap AC Delco Battery at the local parts store for $14 less than they charged me. I wanted the Bosch S6 Battery because it is a MUCH better battery and is only available via mail order. I am tired of the overcharging, poor communication and inferior parts they use at Performance Auto Works. I will not be using them again. A cheap AC Delco Battery...freaking unbelievable. read more

Had a small pixel go out on my Audi headlight which caused a notice to pop up on my dashboard. After getting a quote of $5700 to replace the whole light, that is 100% functional, they convinced me I didn't really need to have this expense As long as I'm ok on the small notice popping up I'm good to go. They could have easily pushed me to do this expensive repair but didn't I appreciated their thoughts and went with their recommendation read more

This is my second time using Performance Motor works. I live an hour away and it's worth my drive to come to Rocklin for Performance Motor. The owner sorted out my wiring on my lci conversion bmw e60 m5. An absolute beast of a mechanic that was referred here when 3 other shops gave up. I owe u dan!! Have no reservation about this shops skills. They are a tertiary referral center for European exotics. They will fix it all correctly. Took about 6 weeks but the work was very tedious and im glad to report they did a fantastic job. They also replaced my fan for cooling and diagnosed a bad door handle causing parasitic draw. Martin is amazing. I've brought my M Roadster here a few times now; they were the only shop that figured out my check engine light (they replaced the charcoal canister and that solved it). I was delighted to discover Performance Motor Works. Their exceptional service on my Mini Cooper was great! The technicians meticulously explained the repairs being performed so I would understand what and why they were being done. I wholeheartedly recommend Performance Motor Works and intend to continue utilizing their services for future maintenance and repairs. read more

It's hard to find a good mechanic. The guys at PMW know their stuff and won't steer you wrong. A must if you drive a German car.

I got my e46 back after being charged a couple thousand dollars to replace the power steering tank and hoses, a coolant hose and a belt and now I'm on the side of the freeway waiting on triple A with coolant all over the pavement...update...it was the expansion tank...this item is a known fail and should have been replaced considering I spent thousands and the part is less than forty bucks and has already been replaced five times by me and every e46 driver read more

Their work is good. Although, they misdiagnosed a noise coming from the left front of my X5 as a tire problem. I replaced the tires. It wasn't a tire problem. They charged $198 for the misdiagnosis. They wanted $335 for labor, $855 total, to replace my 12 volt batteries. I'm an amateur, I did it in 45 minutes. I can get these prices at BMW. Not going back. read more

I was afraid about how much work we need to be done, but performance auto did the thorough investigation, and never tried to upsell me anything I didn't need.
