This is my first yelp review but everyone needs to know about how great California Transmission is. My dealership told me I needed $2000 in transmission repairs. So I checked with a place a friend recommended. California Transmission, being experts, said no transmission problem, only a small valve gasket leak. This inspection at no cost while being friendly and even helpful enough to give me the name of another business that could take care of my problem since it was not their area of expertise. Keep their name handy!! read more

These guys will always do you right. It's a small shop, but they are good people, honest, even when it's bad news about our transmission, and have gone above and beyond to help us when we were in a pinch with our minivan. read more

I was referred to California Transmissions by My Auto Surgeon in Rocklin. After reviewing California Transmissions Google and Yelp reviews I was impressed with the 5 stars on both platforms and the consistency of their reviews. As soon as I walked in I was immediately greeted by Jacob. Jacob was patient and answered my questions with a smile. California Transmissions teams customer service is 5 star! Every one I talked with was friendly and carried a smile. While I was waiting a team member came in from the work area and stated some one will be with me shortly! Taking ownership of your position is beyond words. Im grateful and so is my pocket book. After getting multiple quotes we ended up going with California Transmissions. I honestly came here due to the reviews and consistency of the reviews. Thanks team! We are beyond grateful read more

Able to see my car quickly. Not a great price. The car ended up making a ton of horrific noises after the transmission replacement. They couldn't fix it, and told me my ball joints were worn. My regular car shop replaced the ball joints which were worn, but not the source of the noise. My normal shop managed to get it to stop. The subframe was not tightened down as it should have been. Th shop manager was a very nice fellow and the transmission works great, so a star for each of those points. read more

I brought my daughter's 2006 MDX in after the transmission/transaxle failed. Brett was very knowledgeable and explained clearly what I could expect and the intricacies of the Acura transmission. The vehicle had an oil leak going in, which his mechanics identified during the inspection. We added a Rear Main Engine Seal to the job and I happily left it. I had called around for estimates from Aamco, Monroe Transmissions in Auburn and a few other shops. Brett's pricing was equivalent but he did not charge any labor for the rear main seal replacement, since, as he said, "we're already right there". He only charged me for the seal itself, which was $8 dollars! It took a couple of days. When I went to pick it up, it was clean with no greasy fingerprints anywhere. He told me that it might shift a little funny at first, but as I put a few miles on it, the computer would "learn" the transmission and everything would smooth out. It did shift oddly on the drive home but after a few days, it was shifting smoothly and firmly, as when new. Then, I noticed a few drops of oil on the driveway. I called Brett and he said to bring it in and they'd take a look. He kept it overnight since I had to drop it off after work. The next afternoon, he called and said it was ready, and that it was a "sensor" that was the source. A sensor they didn't even touch. I went in expecting to have to pay a labor charge since it was nothing that they caused, but he only charged me for the new sensor, and that was all! Since then, not a drop on my driveway and the MDX drives like new! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND California Transmissions!!!! The service was excellent, the communication was excellent and the pricing was VERY fair, especially considering the rear main seal replacement and the sensor replacement. Brett is an honest, hard working business owner. If you have transmission problems, bring it to Brett, and it'll get fixed right, for a fair price! read more

Where to begin? California transmissions have been an incredible pleasure to handle business with. Through recommendations from the Bureau of Automative repairs, California Transmissions VALUES communications with their customers. From Jacob along with the owner, Brian, I received updates throughout the process and where things stood with my transmissions issues. you rarely get that anywhere else. California Transmissions has revived my faith in service shops and the ability to complete service with honesty and integrity. As a veteran, honesty and integrity go a long way. I encourage anyone experiencing transmissions issues to utilize their expertise and service. read more

California Transmissions - Transmission Repair Near Me - Rocklin, California

This is from a few months ago. They didn't do any work on my car, but that's actually a good thing. My Jeep had been having stalling and horsepower issues. The third mechanic we took it to said "Oh, it definitely needs a new transmission," and referred us to California Transmission. Upon taking the Jeep here, the fine gentleman at the front said my car's problems didn't sound transmission related. Sure enough, another mechanic who we took it to afterwards fixed everything and it was an ENGINE problem, the transmission was in tip-top shape. California Transmission could've easily taken my money and rebuilt my transmission knowing it was unnecessary, but they didn't, and I'm grateful for that. Glad to know there's still people out there with a good moral compass! read more

I called them for a quote on a leaky axle seal. We made an appointment that week, and got it fixed quickly and within budget. Much appreciated! read more

Our Ford Focus was having some issues and we brought it to these guys because we suspected a transmission issue. The staff here was very professional and personable. Honestly, these guys seem like a cool hang too haha. We usually have fears of mechanics, but we could tell these guys were genuine and honest. They even recommended which cars to buy after we told them we hated our Ford Focus and regret buying it lol. If we EVER have any transmission issues with our cars, you can bet that California Transmissions will have our business. read more

California Transmission is awesome!! 3 shops told me I needed a new one or rebuilt transmission. I took it there for the rebuild and I got a call the next day saying they found the issue, it was fixed and $300 out the door. These guys could have just gone and done the rebuild anyways and collected there $5000 + but they didn't. Definitely recommend to anyone. Honest, quality workmanship. read more

Needed a transmission for my 2000 Honda Accord and I found this place on Craigslist. Called them and Spoke with Isreal and he provided me a quote and I instantly told him that I wanted to do it. He got it done in a week. I was skeptical because of the mixed reviews but my experience overall was very positive. My car drives better now that they replaced the transmission. They also identified some repairs that need to be done. I recommend this shop. read more

It is so great to run into an automotive repair facility where you get a great feeling that these are guys you can trust. Brian, the owner was busy helping a young man while I was waiting. He took the time to explain the options and costs to help the customer decide on the best route. At the same time, another customer came in to pick up his truck, and was thrilled that the repair was done on time and on budget, no surprises. I dropped my car off, and looking forward to having it fixed right. I'm confident that this company will keep its word when it comes to repairing my old car. read more

These folks are amazing. They checked my transmission at no charge. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes. And gave me a fantastic referral to a repair shop that will fix my issue. If I could give them 10 stars, I would. Manager, staff, and mechanics are exceptional. I used them long ago and they still have top notch service. read more

Being a long time Customer Service Manager, I have a deep appreciation for great service, and California Transmissions has it! Took care of my wife's car a 2nd time after a leak showed up again, and without charge. But my greater appreciation is for the friendly and thorough communication and ease of checking her car in and out. Great job by these guys! read more

These guys are awesome. The owner was prompt, the staff friendly and knowledgeable.! I knew my truck was having a tranny issue. I had just had the fluid changed and a new pan gasket. We agreed it could be the filter incorrectly installed. Come to find out, sure enough and the wrong size! They fixed it quickly, buttoned her up, and for a reasonable price! Thanks guys! I'd highly recommend for professionalism and knowledge. read more

I felt a couple jolts while driving and the wrench light came on with a code, so I had my car towed to this shop. They did a full inspection and couldn't find anything wrong with the transmission. Their inspection was prompt and they didn't charge me anything even though they must have spent at least an hour trying to figure out what happened. They referred me to a good mechanic for further investigation. I really appreciate their kindness, honesty and excellent customer service. read more

I was referred to California Transmissions via my normal mechanic (Scotty's - amazing, go there) due to an error that Scotty's couldn't fix. California Transmissions checked out the code, but couldn't get my truck to duplicate the problems I was having. Their suggestion was that I drive around for a while and see if the problem started up again, in order to avoid buying a $600 part I might not need. To add to this, they didn't charge me a dime for their time! After a few weeks, my truck was exhibiting the problem (getting locked into 3rd gear, which turned out to be a solenoid issue) constantly. I took it in on Monday morning. They diagnosed the problem, ordered the part, and had my truck ready to go Tuesday afternoon. Added to it, Vance hung around after closing, since I was running late. Polite, professional, and clearly out to do the right thing. If you're having transmission issues, I highly recommend California Transmission! Thank you for getting my truck going again. read more

Took my car in because I thought the transmission was funky, turned out it wasn't the transmission, it was a tuning issue. If you take your car here you will get honest work done and honest answers. Thank you guys, I appreciate your time!!! read more

The transmission recently died on my 2003 Toyota Avalon. Sadly, the car only has 98k on it. When I took it into California Transmissions here in Rocklin, I was hoping it would be some small issue. Turns out the transmission needed to be entirely rebuilt. The next day, while we were contemplating how we were going to come up with $3,000 for the job, the manager of CA Transmissions, Gene, called me. He explained that he felt terrible that the trans. had gone bad so early in the life of the car (apparently he's never seen one die this early, normally around 275k), and he had done some research and found a transmission that he would install for only $1,600. Absolutely unheard of. If you need transmission work, and you are in this area, go to California Transmissions! read more

My second time using them... and they still keep avoiding my money! (for the most part) I like a shop that specializes on an area, and they certanly do that. I also like an honest mechanic, and I probably know too much to get easily duped. These guys (Gene and team) know their work, and when your problem is simple or even not necessary, they will tell you and not try to get you to buy a bigger job. The work they do will be quality. And they will also be honest if they think a full rebuild is beyond the value of the car, so you can make an informed choice. read more

We dropped off my son's truck to have it diagnosed for an intermittent problem that was hard to pin down by another repair shop. Still nothing obvious was found, but fluids were changed and according to my husband some metal shavings were cleaned out. (From where, I don't know!) They told us if we have any problems to bring it back, Even better, the truck runs like a charm now! You can bet we'll return any time any of our cars need service. Thanks!! read more

We had both our Honda Odessy and Dodge Caravan in at the same time with bad transmissions. Fortunately, The Odessy had a warranty. Gene and Crystal were so helpful in making the appropriate communication with our warranty company. I was thankful that they had experience working with the warranty company. We were able to gather the appropriate service records to quickly expedite the warranty process and have the van fixed in a timely manor. Both cars were back on the road in 8 days. Throughout the process we received regular updates on the status of repair. Gene gave me a price before he started and confirmed that the cost would not exceed his estimate. In fact it was less. Both cars are working perfectly. The asked that we come back after 200 miles for a follow up. Honest, Quality, timely. I am glad I chose California Transmission read more

It is not often you find a business that does great work and really cares about their customers. Women especially have a difficult time in finding automotive places they can trust to give them the service they need at prices that are fair. Dave at California Transmission helped me so much. He went out of his way, even though he was extremely busy, to make sure I got the work I needed done. If you need transmission work of any kind this is the place to go, where there are very good people, that you can trust. read more

About 18 months after my transmission repair, the transmission finally went out. I debated repairing it in an '03 Explorer, as the cost to rebuild it was about what the vehicle was worth. But, I have two new drivers at home and this was a good vehicle for them, so I had Vance and crew at CA Transmissions go to work on it. About three days later, the Explorer was ready and it ran very well. Approximately 16 months later, while pulling a trailer up to Truckee, I noticed the transmission was slipping a little. After parking to unload the trailer, I found that I couldn't put the selector into Reverse. I kept trying, and it finally went into Reverse, but things didn't feel right. It worked fine in Drive, but after going in reverse once, I could not get the car to move in reverse. I could put it in Neutral and push it backwards. So, back to CA Transmissions, as I had an 18 month warranty. Vance took my Explorer in and called me back later that day. They scheduled a warranty repair, which would take approximately five days, and was completely covered. When I picked up the Explorer, it ran perfectly. My nephew is still driving that Explorer more than a year later, with zero transmission problems. CA Transmissions has honest people, they accurately diagnosis transmission problems, repairs are provided at reasonable rates and they stand behind every service provided. This is the only place I'll take my cars for transmission work, and I highly recommend Vance and CA Transmissions! read more

Exceptional service! They worked with me with various repair and pricing options when my transmission finally went out after nearly 200,000 miles. I just had my two week post-repair inspection and it passed with flying colors! No leaks and no unwelcomed sounds. Extremely knowledgeable based on the many years within the business. I believe 30+ years. They came highly recommended as I am very cautious of repair shops. If you are too, take your transmission repairs here. FYI, very supportive of first responders. read more

Gene & his crew are the Experts in transmissions. Took one of our company trucks in there to get a diagnosis. Ford had already quoted us $2800 to rebuild the transmission but the boss had decided to junk the trunk but soon after we had the need for a truck to handle a new contract & the company did'nt want to buy new $40,000 vehicle. Gene quoted us $2,200 to rebuild it. After they opened up the transmission they found additionl damage & requested that we come down to their shop so that they could show us. We declined & told Gene to fix it. $2455.22 out the door with a one year warranty, This job was done 12-22-13. I only just got around to writing the review. Would recommend them & as Gene advised ALWAYS service your transmission on a regulr bsis to help extend it's life !! read more

I took my car here last week since I thought the transmission was needing work (revved up in 4th/5th gear) but Gene told me after checking everything out that the transmission was fine but the sensor was giving bad info which caused the revving problem. He recommended a general mechanic. He charge me nothing and he also said I needed to have steering problem dealt with at a general mechanic. He was 100% right on both issues. I'll definitely return if I ever need transmission work. Great work ethic and doesn't over charge or even charge a small fee to determine the problem. That's unusual in today's world! read more
