Recently, while driving my car, I had this scary and odd sensation of losing control of the car for a second. This would occur at random. Mind you, this was a bit terrifying on the freeway. I am writing this review after not receiving any response to my written complaint/email to Mr. Fix It. I wasn't looking for a refund just an acknowledge/apology. After not hearing anything, I decided to write this review for Yelp. On December 1st I took my Toyota in to have the rear brakes serviced. I selected Mr., Fix It based on their rating on Yelp and on the advertised 10% discount to new customers. The service included replacing the rotor/pads and a change of transmission fluid. The bill was $1202.98. After I left, I discovered that I hadn't received the advertised 10% discount. I returned the next day inquiring about the discount. I was told that the discount was overlooked and that since the bill had already been paid, I could have my next oil change for free. I accepted the offer. As a point of reference, we don't drive the Toyota a lot. We rarely use the emergency brake. On February 24th my wife and I decided to take a trip to Southern California. We drove the Toyota to Clayton first to visit our daughter. We parked the Toyota - - and because of a slight incline, engaged the emergency brake. We got up at 4:30AM, loaded the car and prepared to leave for Newport Beach. To our surprise the car wouldn't move as the left rear wheel was locked up. We were stranded. We arranged for a replacement vehicle and continued our trip. On March 2nd we returned and arranged for a tow truck with a flatbed to take the Toyota to a repair shop. They managed to unlock the wheel. They stated that whoever replaced the pads had not adjusted the brake system properly and as a result the emergency brake had locked up. The cost for the "repair" was $263. I understand that people make mistakes. There are oversights, errors and a myriad of ways for things to go wrong. I'm sure Mr. Fix It tries to maintain a high level of "quality control" - - because that's good business. But this time, the ball was dropped. This situation resulted in a significant problem for my family. What's over is over. However, because of this experience, I will not be returning to Mr. Fix It for the "free" oil change. It's not my business but perhaps it's time for Mr. Fix it to take a second look at their quality control. Mr. Fix It didn't fix it read more

Went here for quote and was blown away at how much they wanted to charge me. $700 for an oil change. When I questioned the cost he told me they also change the filters. (So does everyone else) Ended up getting service elsewhere- paying $140 for my oil change. Positives- Gentlemen assisting me was nice and polite. They got me right in. read more

My husband and I have requested to speak with the owner/higher manager for over a month. We had over $2,000 of work completed on August 16th. We believe we need to come to the business and try to resolve the problem before posting anything. We have called multiple times and sent an email. We are writing this because we feel like we have no other option. We have also contacted CARMAX Warranty to let them know our concerns. We were told for weeks that the owner would call us and he never did. I (Laura) shared the below concerns with a gentleman on September 6th who said he often helped with customer service but was not a manager/owner. I requested to still speak with the owner but this time was told that he probably would not contact me. Below are the 5 major concerns we have that have not been addressed (not in any specific order). Overall we were overcharged, pushed into a battery replacement that could have been covered by warranty, and CarMax was told something that wasn't true.  When we looked over the warranty paperwork we discovered that they reported to CarMax, "client states that oil leak is noticed under the car check and advise." We never said it was leaking oil. We were actually quite surprised that there was a leak because we have never noticed oil on our garage floor and we have never been low on oil.  They overcharged for a battery (which was fully covered by warranty). When I picked up the vehicle, I was personally told by the manager that he charged less than the price I would find online due to the warranty situation. I discovered that not only was it not less than list price but $50 more than list price. When I brought this up, I was told that the system was faulty and sometimes overcharged and that they were working on it. I was told 23 days ago that they would be mailing me a check for $50 to correct the system overcharge. I still haven't received the check.  We were charged $49.56 for a Mopar PCV Valve that was never mentioned or approved. When I asked about it they told me they must have broken it when they were doing the warranty work. When I asked why it wasn't included with the warranty work, I got no explanation other than it was common for things to break when work was done. It would have been appropriate to have been notified that the part was broken and that there was going to be a charge.  We were charged $49.50 to "check customer concerns". We were told that they would do a complimentary check on our vehicle to see if it needed anything in addition to the warranty work. When I brought up this concern, I was told it was okay that we were charged for "checking customer concerns" because they didn't charge us to install the battery (which would have been more than $50). I brought up that we were told that installing the battery was no charge...he said they usually don't charge, but our van was an exception. If they had told us this originally we would have factored the install cost into our decision. We were told it was only the cost of the battery and that the additional check of our car was complimentary. They should stand by their word and not charge us for something they said was complimentary. We were pushed into a battery replacement that was 100% covered by warranty. When they called and told us that we needed a new battery we told them it was under warranty from Costco. They told us it would not be worth much (which turned out not to be true) and we shouldn't hold up the car being worked on by taking the time to exchange the battery at Costco. Feeling pressure to not hold things up we agreed to have them replace it. We hung up and thought about it and it didn't feel right, so we called back 8 minutes later and said we would like to use our Costco warranty and that we were okay if it delayed the work a little bit. We were told it was too late and that they had already installed the battery. It was our mistake for being pressured into not using our Costco battery warranty....I believe they should encourage clients to use an existing warranty. The battery would have been replaced through Costco at zero charge to us. That was a costly mistake on our behalf. We should have stood our ground originally.  We should not have to email and call multiple times, be told the owner would call us, and then be told he wouldn't call. At this point we are frustrated and feel taken advantage of. You may have a different experience with this company but this has been ours. read more

I got the call a parent hates to get from their child who is away at college, 200 miles away, "Dad, I think my brakes are going bad." Crossing my fingers I found a nearby garage with positive Yelp reviews and provided her with the location. The next call I got was after she visited Mr. Fixit Auto Care. To my surprise, the brakes were in great shape and still had more than 50% of the pads left. The intermittent squeak was chalked up to normal debris on the brakes, but no squeaks were heard during the test drive. The best news was the grand total for their service, ZERO!! We now have found a garage for all her service needs and rest assured she will be telling other students at her college of the honesty and great service by Mr Fixit Auto Care. Outstanding service from Mr. Fix It! I had taken my car to a dealership yesterday to be serviced before a trip to Oakland. During my trip I noticed a noise coming from under my car. I was in the Rockin area heading home and decided to stop in to see if they could check it. Turns out I was missing 3 of the plastic pop rivets for the splash guard from when the dealership had changed my oil yesterday. Thomas did a through inspection of my car and noticed that my power steering fluid was low and my air filer/cabin filter were completely clogged. He did not have the filters in stock so he called his parts dealer and had two filters delivered within 30 minutes, topped off my fluids as well as checked to see if my oil was indeed changed at the dealership. Highly impressed with the serviced I received! I will be making the 2 hour drive to Rocklin for all my services from now on! read more

Another good experience. Went to start my car and nothing. I went through the usual checks,. I checked battery, theft lock, starter motor etc. and that was the extent of my car knowledge. Had it towed over to them. They did a great job of tracking down the problem which was a bad fuse box relay. I highly recommend them. read more

They recently refurbished the hybrid battery on my 2008 Toyota Prius. They also helped to rebuild the front differential on my 2010 Yukon Denali after I took it to the GMC dealer who looked at me like deers staring at headlights when I complained about a grinding sound that had been going on for at least a couple of years and was getting worse. So much more to that disappointing GMC dealer story.... Anyhow, Mr Fix It recommended that I not drive the Yukon anymore for safety reasons which I whole heartedly agreed. Now that it's fixed, my kids are sick of me saying how nice it is not to hear the grinding sound anymore. What a disaster this could have been! This morning at 9:45 am I called this company and asked if it used to be R & S auto mechanics , a guy named Austin answered he said yes but they changed the name and ownership. I informed him that we had purchased a car for my 15 yr old son and I wanted it to be thoroughly checked to make sure it was safe for my soon to be driver. Austin said no problem bring it in. The car was dropped off by my husband at 10:30 am and my husband Re-iterated the kind of inspection that needed to be done . This is my child's safety here . At 4 pm and no phone call my husband called to see if it was done and Brandon answered and said Austin wasn't there and my husband said the make and model of the car which was a white Ford Explorer . Brandon said," oh that's your car "? I need to call Austin and see what's going on with it . At 4:05 pm I call and got Brandon and I checked to see how the inspection went on the car and Brandon told me as far as he knew everything was fine with it . He would call Austin and call me back did not ask for my name or number. I told my husband go get the car I don't trust this company . My husband arrived at 4:25 and saw that the car was in the same spot as where he left it. Brandon told him everything was fine with the car and my husband was confused he had already talked to Brandon at 4 pm and he had no idea that car was there for service and my husband asked what time did you get to work today and he said 11 am and my husband said in 30 min you did all these tests and rattled off the names of the test and asked for the report they didn't have one and the guy said I'll be honest Austin didn't even put it in the system. My husband grabbed the keys and walked out . Basically the car never moved from where it was dropped off and Brandon wanted to tell me everything was fine but had zero paperwork and had been at work all Day and had no idea that car was there for service . Also, I was quoted $890.00 out of a garage and knew I had to have a 2nd opinion and glad I did because I was only charge $145.00. Buyer Beware!!! I took my truck to Mr.Fix it upon leaving it there I told them the issue which was the idle was a little off and no check engine light on could they run a diagnostic and let me know what it is. I left it and got a call a few hours later letting me know that my brakes and break fluid need to be changed my coolant needs to be done my transmission needs to be flushed and one spark plug a piece was missing and the air cleaner was dirty. They quoted me 1086 to get this done but never actually address the reason I brought the truck in. and for that diagnostic and a plug 207 its ridiculous that when I asked what about the other plugs they didn't bother looking at those because I wasn't going to have them do the work to replace them but concentrated on things I didn't actually need or bring the truck in for!!! Obviously they where looking for things to fix not my main concern if you are in Rocklin Avoid this place its a rip off and and scam!!! I will never bring my truck there again!!! read more

EXCELLENT SERVICE! Being new to the area, we did not have a preferred mechanic yet. When my trusty 10 year old Nissan that was still running good a couple of days before unexpectedly stopped running, I had to find a mechanic quickly. After reading great reviews about R & S I decided to have my vehicle towed to this shop. While the issue was due to a bad factory installed part and caused catastrophic failure, the failure was repairable. Ron had me come in to see what the issues were and went over prices with me. He explained that the cost to repair was going to be very high and recommended that I visit dealerships and weighing our options over the weekend. Ron and Gym were very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful during the whole process. Very impressed! Ron is amazing! I was having a humming sound and seemed it was my serpentine belt.
