I tried to find my previous reviews to just update but no luck. Oh well. Will it suffice for me to say that I've been with Samy, Mahmoud and the crew for six years now? My 2001 Acura MDX is not worked on by anyone Mahmoud because there's no one else that I trust to be completely honest with their work. I've referred four friends to Samy and the guys and they've all been very appreciative to have good, honest work done. Samy will always give you two options, one to get it good enough or one that is more for the car you're gonna keep until the wheels fall off and then you get Samy to put more wheels on it. My MDX now has 235K miles on it and I'm confidently shooting for 300. With Auto Century backing me up, I know I'll get there. Thankfully there are places like Auto Century that break the bad auto repair shop stigma and actually do honest work in an efficient manner at a very reasonable price! Normally I am the only one that will take our cars for service because shops, especially dealerships, will always try to add on additional services or repair something that doesn't need to be repaired or charge a ridiculous amount for a simple task. Based on the great reviews I sent my wife there with our car and I couldn't be happier with how both she and our car were treated! They were friendly, communicative, fast, and fair. My wife doesn't know much about cars, but they even took her into the shop to show her what they were looking at (she just pretended like she was interested - I love that stuff). Finding a reliable auto shop is harder than dating. We're always worried the prices is going to be sky high with a lot of things we don't need. The search is over, and I choose autocentury for all auto repair needs. I had first found this place with a groupon a couple of years ago for an oil change, but when my brakes started making sounds, I knew I wanted to find a place that wouldn't overbill. I called up Sammy, and he had me come in the next day. When I arrived 45 mins earlier than my appointment, and when the mechanics normally come in, Sammy said he would help see me earlier. He opened the shop and started working on my car himself. Upon examining the car, he quickly pointed out that my sway bar links were broken (immediately I was worried it's just another mechanic, and he comes a laundry list of things that need to be fixed), and then Sammy brought me out to the car, and explained how it became broken, the importance of it, and why I should/should not replace it. He then came back later to show me how whittled down my link was on my car, and what it should look like. Then as I waited for the laundry list of other repairs needed, it never came, and I was left with a bill much lower than I expected, and a car faster than I had expected. I've been going to AutoCentury since 2008 and I feel bad I haven't done a yelp review yet. AC is the only auto shop I trust in the DC area and even though I've moved all the way to Maryland me and my boyfriend still make the drive out there when we need work on either of our cars. 1. They are honest--no scamming or trying to get you to do more than your car or budget requires. For example, one year I needed to get my car's safety and emission testing done fast so I went to a random shop in Arlington. The guy said I needed $1k worth of work for it to pass. I took it to AutoCentury and they didn't see any of that. When I told them what the other mechanic said they checked again, still did not see it, and were really angry at the other shop for giving their profession a bad name. 2. They are friendly, professional, and fast. 3. Their work is good. 4. They always always work their hardest to get me a deal. Before I moved to DC from out of state I had one mechanic I trusted because my family had been going to that shop for generations. SERVICE: Oil change + tire rotation + 25 point inspection (via an AmazonLocal deal). I was really impressed with these guys. The waiting area is a bit dilapidated, but I kinda like it (it's a lot more home-like and less pretentious than other businesses). The owner (I presume he was the owner) is a very friendly and cheerful Turkish gentleman. And my mechanic (Ian) was thorough, considerate, and took the time to actually explain and point things out for me! I think this in particular was what was so extraordinary/awesome. I wish all mechanics allowed (and like these guys, encouraged!) customers to come to the service bay and view their car as it's being worked on (or at least for parts of it). For now, I'm still very price sensitive, so I will be using 50% off daily-deal-vouchers until they no longer exist (which I think will be the case one day...). But when those are done and the market/playing field is leveled-out and I need to hunker down with 1 mechanic, it will likely be these guys. read more

Bottom line. This was the best mechanic experience I have had in my adult life. The team obviously has a great rapport. I would even say that they are like a family. It made me feel more comfortable and was a great atmosphere. Sammy, Ian their brothers and the other team members made me feel like family. Great vibe and Sammy (the owner) is hands on with all of the operations and he refuses to let himself or his team provide less than stellar services. He dropped me off at my house and because my repair would have taken a few days offered to loan me a car so I could get around. I didn't take the offer but the fact that he offered was unreal for me. Now down to the business. The team was able to determine the problems with my car, basically the suspension system, shocks, sway bars, all of that. What really impressed me was the fact that the team was able to quickly identify recent work on my car and made suggestions that were logical and reasonable for my pockets. I watched Sammy on a call with a customer, he impressed me with his customer service, and his honesty regarding repairs. Even I could tell that he gave the customer a great deal. In short,...too late... The team has passion about their work, they are honest and they care about the cars/products that leave the shop because they know how important our vehicles are to us. Sammy spoke with passion when he talked of his customers driving in the cars they repaired on trips, with kids and family. I got a better repair at this shop than I did at the from 2 Honda dealerships. they even fixed some of the things that the dealers left out. Tightened bolts and gave my car some new shoes. My car feels like my dad's old 98. Like riding on a mattress filled with down, clouds, and love. I can't give them enough praise. for almost 20 years I would take my cars to Germantown Service Center in Germantown Maryland because I couldn't find any other professionals I could really trust with my car. But now living in Alexandria VA is very difficult to go all the way to Germantown for small issues with the car. Fortunately for us, my wife found this amazing shop only few minutes from our house. The are professional, honest and caring and after a year of going to them for various things they recognize my voice over the phone and remember my name. I tend to give reviews that are only 1 star or 5 star and much like the previous reviews state, they seem honest, competent and very competitive on price. You sometimes can get 2 of those but almost never all 3. Any negatives are in the doesn't matter realm like waiting area or industrial area junkyard looking parking lot. I am updating my earlier post. I went to Auto Century for the first time back in June and wrote a review (see below). Well I just went back this weekend and wanted to reiterate what I did in that post - that this is a great place to take your car. I was recently in the market for a new car. Because I liked the folks (Bayram is the owner) so much at Auto Century I gave them a call to see if they would make time for me to bring in used cars to be checked out since I know nothing about cars. Bayram said to send him the carfax reports and give him the listing of the cars I was interested in. He took the time to help me make my decision and when I went to test drive the cars I had him on speed dial for help. I finally found a car I liked, had Bayram give his stamp of approval, and now I feel like I got a good deal and got a great car.... with a great mechanic that I will have for life. As we all know, a great mechanic who is HONEST is indispensable. I will always take my cars to Auto Century and I will recommend them to anyone that needs their car looked at. JUNE REVIEW: I went for an oil change, tire rotation, and 25 point inspection through a Living Social deal that I had. First off, I was very impressed because the garage doesn't open until 11am on Saturdays, but because I had some constraints (and was really nice) he opened early to help me out. So we're off to a good start. Then he did everything he needed to within an hour and told me that my car was in great shape and well-maintained. I own a 1998 Honda Civic, so I'm sure it would have been easy for him to point out all of the many things he could charge me extra for, but he didn't. He did say some things would probably need repaired soon, but that was it. So in addition to the great customer service, he was also extremely honest. I found this place on Groupon a few years ago and have been coming back ever since. Why? 1. The people. Seriously, Ian and the gang are the cheeriest group of guys. And it's always the same people, which says a lot about the business. 2. They take care of exactly what I'm asking for. And anything I can't figure out, they pinpoint it and explain it to me in simple terms. You can relax here because they aren't trying to take advantage of you or your lack of knowledge. 3. The prices are excellent. I needed major work done earlier in the year and received a $1200 estimate from a local repair shop. At Auto Century, it cost half that price without sacrificing the quality of the work. No matter where I've moved around in the area, I have come back over and over. My wife and I both purchased a living social or groupon (I forget which) for an oil change here 2 or 3 years ago and really enjoyed our experience with Bayram and Ian. They were both very honest and up front about the service we needed and didn't seem to try to sell us things we did not need like many auto service centers seem to do. I believe Samy has sense taken over for Bayram as he pursues other endeavors but he is just as friendly. I've been able to text them when I have a question or to set up an appointment. This place is great and we will continue to give them our business for oil changes and for other car maintenance as it comes up. Ian and Mahmoud are top notch, friendly, patient, and just all around great to deal with. Got rear-ended... just my 4th day after purchasing my new Benz :-( . Went to Auto Century since it was right down the street from the Progressive Claim Center... They were able to check out the scrape, offer a couple of solutions, and work seamlessly and transparently with the insurance claims adjuster. Let me start off by saying that I still need to personally go back and thank Ethen for his work. So I needed to replace my windshield and after dealing with my insurance they quoted me $380. I instantly thought that was way too much. Checked yelp and noticed this place had a lot of great reviews. I called and set an appointment to replace my windshield and they quoted me ~$180...I was shocked thinking it was too good to be true. Got the windshield replaced and it has been great ever since. Went back after receiving such great customer service due to my engine light. Found out that my Catalytic converted was bad. Now they could have easily charged me an arm and a leg but they did not. Auto Century informed me that there is a government mandate and that my Dodge Avenger 2008 should be covered since it is under 80,000 miles. I went to the nearby dodge and have them take a look and not only did I run into Ethen there but I ended up saving 1500 dollars which would have cost me to replace the Catalytic converter. After the installment was done Ethen called me just to make sure everything worked you. Despite being filled with various other shops in business park Auto Century continues to go way beyond the typical mechanic repair shop. We have taken 6 different cars there for various routine maintenance to custom sport exhaust on a classic VW! Not only can they get the best deal on prices for OEM & aftermarket parts but they have the best hourly rate I have seen in this area. Dealerships will charge you minimum $99 diagnostic fees, where at Auto Century they DO NOT charge! Timely turn around and outstanding customer service is why we will not take our fleet of cars anywhere else. They have state inspection and in house alignment even for hard to do cars with lowered sport suspension or coil overs! I cant say enough good things about this place, when other shops either don't know or want to do a tough job Auto Century has always out performs! All my VW and Acura have been well taken care of since we started going there, I will not go to dealer or other shop in town! read more

I took my Mercedes to the Dealer for Inspection , where they found I had to do a front brake job for the car that would cost $900, took it to Auto Century and bought the parts online, they charged me $200 for labor. I heard couple of issues about this place from my co-worker. 5 to 10 people took their cars there because we work right next door to them and wanted to give them the opt. and they all had bad experience taking their cars there. Even our CFO was upset about their lack of attention and giving him the run around about fixing he's transmission on his volvo and over charging him. They kept the vehicle for a long time, didn't know how to fix it (lack of experience) and didnt try to resolve or fix it right...that was one issue...others brought their cars there for a simple fix or oil change and end up paying for things they didnt have too...each of these cars that went there Audi, Volkswagon, Nissan Z, Honda Accord & CRV, Toy avalon,....and on and on. I figure since my car was a simple VA inspection (toy avalon 96') that i would give them a try with all the negative stories i had heard...i figure what could go wrong since i know my car very well and it's a Toyota....i'm a jack of all trade and know alot of things about cars...i can fix alot of things and replace things pretty easy...so it's hard for someone to 'pull a fast one on me'....but i went there to do this inspection and come to find out they failed me becuase one of my tire failed the required inspection about 1 to 2 mm....and rear deck brake light was out.....i was so furiated. Ian never told me that they 'out source' their work or inspections. I didnt authorize my car to leave their premise....he said he can charge me a fee to take care of the two issue....that even upset me even more....i had a full spare in the back and told him it's an easy swap and the rear deck light was not the main brake lights (it's easy to replace 2 mins). Told him he could at least passed the inspection just bring it to my attention to take care of it soon..instead of trying to get money out of me. If he had done this nice gesture and not nickel and dime me....i would have gave them a good review and recommend them..BUT I WILL NOT....i have told all my 100+ coworkers not to go there for anything and recommended them not to go to AUTO CENTURY. I went there to get an estimate to fix the back bumper of my car. They said that the job total would be ABOUT $500, ($220 for the part, and $260 for labor.) They also said that I have to pre-pay for both, part and labor (really???? ) and that It would take about 3 days to do the job. They told me that the breaks did't look good and they were ready to do a FREE inspection and detail if I wanted to. I said no bc I just had my car serviced last month, including the breaks!. Ok, so I went to Quality body shop in Fairfax, to get a second opinion. When they came back with the estimate for a total of $190 ($89.25 for the part, and $96.80 for the labor) I just thought they made a mistake and I asked them to double check.. They did, and it was right!!! Not only that, but no pre-pay anything, and 2 hrs. labor.....what?.!! .. So here I am, with my beautiful car looking like new, and $300 dlls more in my pocket,!!! Very disappointed, and mad about this situation. This dishonest people is why the economy of this great Country is hurting! So, drive a little further, but get a fair price and excellent service. read more
