You want a detailed review, you got it. Let me tell you a story about a beautiful E93 BMW M3 offered up by Auto Assets, it was the winter of 2018... My first impression... Nice cars with No high pressure sale's pitch, just straight talk. My kind of place... Without a doubt Auto Assets went out of their way to gain me as a customer. Heck, they treated me better than my own bank.. as it would turn out, my bank decided to drop a last minute 360 pulling my financing on the day I was to take delivery of the car! It went from me second guessing my bank's finance rates to me wondering if I could even find a new lender Nathan (my sale's associate) was not having it. He went over my credit and work history several times. Even with a few days passing by and no luck with the dealership's in-house lenders, he did not give up on me.. in fact he actually seemed to be more confident that we would get the deal done.. Trust me folks, there was more than one occasion in which he could have said sorry man, I tired... please try us in the future... nope, dude was on a mission and already had an end game. So.. (ok wait.. before I get to what he was about to say, I need to go full disclosure here and say that I am paraphrasing, I mean this happen 3 years ago, Nathan was/is epic, my own embellishments or not, this is how it went down according to ME the long winded story teller guy who's ADD medication may or may not be wearing off. Alright, now then where were we? Oh yeah. He says "I got an option.. now I can't promise you that these guys are going to give you a loan with a rate that is worth taking, heck they might not even offer you a loan... but I'll promise you this much... I'll be more than just (shocked) if they don't get you that money". So I am thinking to myself, ok.. I get it now... He is going to make a few calls and pull a few strings... Maybe he has connections... Nope. That is not the case at all... Dude just pulls out one of his business cards.. and I am thinking crap maybe this is him giving up... but then rather than just handing it to me he proceeds to flip it over and silds it across the disk with his pen. He tells me " write this down" I do... it turns out to be the initials of a credit union that I had never heard of. That is it. No website, No phone number with specialized referral codes... I even asked him, "should I name drop you?" and he said, "They wouldn't have the slightest idea who you are talking about" He then said as I was getting up to leave, (again I am paraphrasing here) "Go grab yourself some lunch and google these guys, if you like what you see call'em up and when your done talking to them flip my business card over and ring me back later this evening with some good news." I had honestly already given up in the back of my head, but Nathan's confidence and determination told me to give it one more try. Here is the thing though I was not keen in picking up something that you readers likely already have... It was not Nathan's first Rodeo in such a dire situation. To be fair, I could not see what was so obvious because Nathan treated me as if I was a repeat customer buying a 800K dollars Lamborghini to add to my collection. I didn't feel like a new customer looking at a 36k dollars M3, with finance issues, I felt like a close friend or family member that was not asking for a handout but obviously needed a push in the right direction. He took the time and effort to try and get me the best local rates possible even when it became clear that they all were going to say no or demand a crazy interest rate. Nathan stuck to his guns and did his job rather than taking a shortcut right out the gate. He did what any good honest sales person would do, he put himself in my shoes and did his due diligence. Don't get confused people.. It was not like I just walk into the building straight off the street demanding an M3 with no money down, zero credit and no job. No, I actually came in flexing a reasonable down payment, proof of income making bank, a report that said hello disposable income, and a credit score that was not great but recovering steadily over several years... my issue was none of that though.. It was over some really old judgments dating back to the 2008 financial crisis that I had been actively paying for several years... The same banks that contributed to putting me into the position refuse to help me move past it... In closing I'll say this, Auto Assets has amazing cars, a beautiful dealership, you name it.. But if you asked me what is their strongest asset, it's there People. It does not stop with just Nathan either, every single person I have interacted with there has been polite, professional, and on point. They are pros. So you wondering, did he get the girl in the end? Yep, although I did have to settling for a 7% interest rate for that M Series Love. Sure as hell beats 15-20% though, right?! After looking for a week and dealing with several other dealerships we found our Q7 from Auto Assets on Autotrader. I contacted them through their website at 8pm and asked for a Facetime walk around the next morning. Nathan replied right away and asked if 10am the next morning sounded good. At 10am sharp he called my cell and told me it was ready. It was raining there, and he already had the car inside and dry. I'm no stranger to buying cars online, and you learn what to ask for after a few of them don't go your way. He understood that I lived 275 miles away and I wanted to be sure it was going to be worth taking a day off and driving 4.5 hours to see it. Nathan took as much time as it required to make sure I was satisfied with what I saw. He went over every ding/scratch/chip on every panel, under the hood, and every surface inside - and I asked him to not be afraid to show me the worst of every panel. By the end of the walk around I was convinced it was worth the drive down. Their pricing was very fair for what we were looking for right up front and didn't include any BS hidden fees. After learning our already good pre-approved finance rate, Nathan asked to see if he could do better. We didn't think he could do it, but sure enough he did. We drove down to find a very clean shop in a nice area of Columbus. The staff was all great and I was met and thanked by the owner Chip (and Jedah the dog!) for the business. The car presented as close to perfect as you'll get for a 40,000 mile car, and what wasn't perfect was pointed out and fixed ahead of time (some of it without us even asking them to) before we made the drive. The car was absolutely as advertised, and then some. After a quick spin we agreed to buy. Nathan had all the paperwork ready and clearly explained every page to us as we signed. The car is running great and there has been no issues so far with it. I have worked in the car parts industry for 15 years and with car dealerships every day. I can emphatically say that this independent shop has their act together from start to finish. It was as painless as it gets to buy a car from them. I absolutely will make the drive again to buy from them in the future. I now know that I will get exactly what I want, and nobody there is going to try and sneak anything by me. Buy or have your car fixed here! I had the exact opposite experience the negative write up had. Did we go to the same shop? Seriously. Everyone I dealt with from Chip on down was extremely knowledgable, professional and courteous. I consider myself pretty informed and these guys put me to shame. When I initially bought my Audi A4 there I asked Ed how well he knew the background of the car that I was thinking of buying. He replied he knew just about everything, he had personally wrenched on the car himself. He explained work that had been done, possible things to watch for in the future. I knew I had chosen the right place to make my purchase. Chip was awesome. Straight forward and honest. All I look for in a shop is quality work at a fair price. I dont mind paying good money for the repair, I just want it properly diagnosed and the fix done correctly. No short cuts. Is that too much to ask? After I bought the Audi, the follow up service has been just as impressive. As was said by another reviewer, these guys know what they are doing. I have no complaints, they did exactly what they said they would do for the price they quoted. Even recommended some upgrades to the car that even I hadnt thought of. Bringing in a car for service is always a daunting task. How long will it take? How much will this cost? Matt in the service department removes all of that uncertainty. We brought our vehicle in for some routine maintenance. Not only were we given part options, OEM vs aftermarket, but also pros and cons of those choices. In addition, we were given the option to take advantage of some other wear/tear items that wouldn't incur additional labor, as we were already in the area. While this adds part costs, it reduced a potential follow up visit. At the end of the day, not only was the communication frequent from Matt, but thorough. The email write up, explaining in intricate depth the nature of the work, as well as some things to look out for. I was experiencing a small vibration on my Audi S3, based on my car buying experience with Auto Assets I decided to take it in for an inspection. They absolutely did not disappoint. As odd as it sounds, I was shocked to see an In-Depth inspection with pictures of each part that was checked and verified. On top of it, rather than try to upsell me on services and parts I really didn't need, they gave me the flat out answer that every shop should give. Pricing is more than what you'd pay at a chain service store, but for the level of service and detail, it's worth absolutely every penny. Prices are cheaper than going to a dealership, where they're absolutely going to upsell you on everything you don't actually need. The owner is a former professional sports car racer who is very knowledgeable, honest and forthright. The service managers are "car guys" that work hard to keep customers happy, even when the news may be expensive. The techs are mature knowledgeable professionals who take their work seriously. I take all of my cars there for service -- a 150,00+ mile BMW, a 2008 Acura TL and a 2005 Corvette that is a track car -- and the work on all of them is excellent! From basic oil changes through track day prep, the guys at Auto Assets are trustworthy to diagnose problems, fix them right and keep me informed about what's going on. I have been searching for a specific high end vehicle for a long while from out of state (I'm in Iowa). They responded quickly, and were very honest about the car. I had lots of questions which they answered and they walked around the entire car and took a picture of every little thing they could find. 2013 Boxster S having a problem with the top. Won't go up or down all the way without some fiddling with the switches. Last year a module was changed out which seemed to fix the issue but it returned. They switch out another module under warranty. Problem came back again. They performed a diagnosis and determined it was micro switches. I was given my options and at this time I think I'm going to live with it. My son has my 2004 Audi S-4 Avant at OSU, I live in Cleveland. He called me when the car would not start one afternoon. I know Chip, owner of Auto assets from a mutual hobby and called him about the car. Son got the car towed over and a day later it was fixed.
