Austin Deep Pockets. $150 (plus tip) for 75 minutes and at the end she told me my shoulders were tight and had knots- that's why I went in! I specifically asked her to work on those areas, instead I got a half-decent full body massage, that certainly wasn't deep. My girlfriend has been rubbing my back and shoulders with much better results than my Austin deep experience. I'm glad I went, so now I know I'm not missing anything but a waste of money. read more

I've been here three times now partly for the location convenience to my office and partly because of Mari's amazing deep tissue massaging skills. The waiting room is minimalist and modern. It has a good, clean smell. They offer water, tea and snacks (nuts or chocolate) while waiting. Each time I have been to see Mari, she has done an excellent job. Like others have said, this place is not for the inexperienced receiver or someone wanting a relaxation massage. It's going to hurt...in a good way. Yo, this place is first off, so beautiful! I walked in and was pleasantly surprised at the interior design and the aromatherapy they included into the experience. The front desk coordinator had everything prepared for me and Michelle was very sweet when she greeted me as well. Pleasant energies from both. The bathroom was stocked with little body wipes, water mist, and mouth wash. I was very impressed by the little touches they put into the spaces. The person behind this company definitely knows what they are doing. Michelle gave me a thorough explanation of my massage and the add ons with me and went straight to work. She was light handed at first because I am so small but her check ins allowed for open communication so I knew I was going to get the service I wanted. This place does not play. If you work in the service industry or put stress on the body, please please please invest in this place. At check out, Michelle gave me a sample of the rub she used on my body and showed me this really cool pressure ball to help rub out kinks at work. At checkout, the front desk coordinator decided to give me the ball free of charge! I almost cried because that was so nice and she could tell I really wanted it. I've had plenty of massages in the past and while some have been outstanding, I don't think any have been as effective as the one that I had yesterday from Austin Deep. For the past week I've been having pretty consistent lower back pain and finally decided to see if a massage would do the trick. After several recommendations from friends I decided to give them a try. Not only did they work hard to get me in as quickly as possible, but they were genuinely attentive and focused on helping me work through the muscle pain that I was having. My brother reccommended this place to me so I set my boyfriend up with a massage there and then my good friend got himself one and then finally i got one. It was really nice to finally have a massage that gets down to the root of your pain and is both therapeutic and relaxing. I have had incredibly tense muscles as a result of work stress, softball, and a previous leg surgery that affected my lower back. Austin Deep was recommended by a number of friends, so I booked my first appointment with Mari. Walking into the waiting area, you feel an immediate sense of calm. Dim lights, a large water feature and a warm smile set the mood. Mari was incredibly sweet and professional. Don't let her size or gender fool you - that girl can work DEEP into muscles. She was very responsive to feedback and adjusted pressure accordingly. I am definitely going to treat myself to a session with Mari monthly, if not more frequently. Worst massage experience ever! I went in with a tension headache and the therapist was repeatedly asked to work on specific muscles (scalenes, sternocleidomastoids, suboccipitals, etc...) and instead she said "I have been doing this for over 10 years and I know what I am doing!" This is my first review on Yelp, and I have nothing but high regards for my first visit. Before I came to the massage clinic, I had extensive soreness around my calves and legs that made it difficult for me to walk. I ran a 10K the Saturday before my visit and lifted weights following the week after. I thought I could "walk off" the pain but the pain in these areas did not stop. Instead, it persisted for a couple days. I decided to find a massage clinic that would help address this issue and found Austin Deep. Let me tell you, I did not regret this decision and I will tell you why. These massage therapists know what they are doing. My massage therapist, Dena, had extensive knowledge about the deep-tissue technique. She applied the right amount of pressure to the areas I felt "extreme" soreness, in particular my calves and legs. I did feel discomfort, but she had warned and given me techniques to help "ease" the pain. Also, I found that it was very beneficial that they could focus and specialize on "problem areas." For instance, I wanted Dena to focus on my calves and legs. All I had to do was tell her to do this. The staff is also very friendly. This was my very first massage, and I have to admit I was very nervous during my first visit. I didn't know what to do, but the staff helped ease me through the entire process. They are also very attentive to your needs. This is not your typical "massage". This massage will hurt and you might feel sore after wards. I thought there might have been something wrong but a couple hours later, my legs felt fresh and I felt like I could run another 10K. I highly recommend anyone who has fought injury, delayed onset soreness, fatigue, etc. to try out Austin Deep. I promise you will not regret this. read more

But not dear god fat..any way I'm greeted by my therapist who is this tiny young lady, I'm thinking she's a student but her handshake changes my mind, she's not very talkative.. I came here on the recommendation of my trainer, after I strained my upper back. This was a really good therapeutic massage that really made a difference. I had my massage with Maria (aka Mari) yesterday. I'm training for the Austin Marathon, so my legs have been super sore and in crazy pain. But after an hour of Mari rubbing me down with oil and shoving her hands deep into the muscles, I have absolutely no pain. I've had a couple of massages elsewhere before, but now I won't go anywhere but Austin Deep. If massages haven't seemed to work well for you in the past, it's probably because you haven't had a deep tissue massage. It hurts, but it hurts SO GOOD. I went in the day before the Austin Marathon, I was running the Half Marathon. I am in pretty good shape but I wanted to get my deep tissue muscles worked on to the fullest extent. I am from Houston so I was worried that the hills in Austin would bust my thighs and knees. I told my therapist, Sally, about my race the next day and what I wanted from the massage. She was incredible! The massage was not too painful and not too soft, it was juuuuuust riiiight. The next day I attacked the hills and felt good the whole run. My husband surprised me with the Groupon for an hour massage for my birthday. When I called to book just a couple days in advance, they had no problem booking me. I really enjoyed my therapist Mallory. She was great and did an awesome job concentrating on my problem spots. My back and legs feel so much better and I really hope I get to come back soon. I had my first experience getting an AustinDEEP massage a couple of weeks ago and received by far and away the best deep tissue massage ever. As my wife can attest to, I like really, really hard, vigorous back massages, usually requiring the use of elbows, knees, shovels, battering rams, etc. as I carry all of my stress deep below the surface of my shoulders and shoulder blades. I've searched far and wide for the ultimate deep tissue massage and while massages are like pizza (you know, even bad pizza is still pretty good...), none of them were as intense and tension relieving as the one I received from Sara at AustinDEEP. Kudos to Sara for her uncanny ability to chisel away at my tension, her knowledge and breadth of technique, and her overall awesomeness. I will definitely be back! read more

I've been going to Austin Deep for a few years now. As a competitive cyclist I travel quite a bit for races, and occasionally for work. Between the flights, the racing, and sitting at a desk there is always something that needs some serious work. There are a few things that separate Austin Deep from the pack. First of all everyone there knows what they are doing, I've had work done from at least 4 of the therapists over the years and the quality is consistently high. There is a review below that states that deep means something, yes it does, and they understand deep tissue massage, there not a better deep tissue massage that I've found in the country. Austin Deep listens! After a hard race and my quads are locked up they will spend more time working on my quads, after a stressful week at work I may have knots in my back and shoulders that need more attention, whatever the problem is make sure you let them know. I can strongly recommend Chris, Mari, Mallory, and Melinda but I am sure the rest of the staff are all top notch as well. read more

Ive been an avid customer/patient of Austin Deep for two years. I am an ironman triathlete and have suffered from plantar fasciitis and just lately i pulled my flexor and been having problems with the IT band. As people may know, there injuries may last months without proper treatment. It took a couple of sessions (yes it will hurt a little), but I am back on track and almost 100%. A wonderful experience. I'm no super athlete unless you count marathons behind a computer screen. Because of that I had a ton of tightness in my back and shoulders. They can go as deep as you need. There are some areas where I had them dig deep into the muscle but they are skilled enough to dial it back if necessary.
