Had a great experience at Austin Deep! Went in due to a headache/migraine that I couldn't shake for a few weeks so I figured why not try a deep tissue. Parking situation is a little iffy but the space itself is lovely. Feels like you're in a little oasis with welcome water, comfortable seating and a nice check in area. Upon being taken back to the room I was shocked how big the place was, like a maze! If you're look for a traditional "spa" experience, this is not your place but not in a bad way! The rooms are very casual with chalkboards and a small area to place your things. The lights remain on throughout the session and you can definitely hear chatter from other rooms. I didn't mind but just know this going in if you do like the quiet serene spa experience. Nicole was my masseuse and she was lovely! The technique they used to heat up the body and really get into the tissues is great. I wanted her to focus on my upper back and neck area since that's where I've had a lot of tension and I left feeling like a new person. AUSTINDEEP is located in downtown Austin right off Congress Avenue just a few blocks away from the state capital. They have another location but this was the location I visited. The waiting area was comfortable, open, airy and filled with plants. The music was not your typical spa music. It was more like techno music. At first, I didn't like it but then I got used to it. The room I got was clean and the bathroom was clean. My therapist Sydney was GREAT! I highly recommend her. The massage was indeed deep tissue massage and I was sore the next day because I had so many knots and tight spots. I did love my massage. She really worked on pressure points and breaking up the tension in my shoulders and neck and back. The reason why I am not giving this place 5 stars because it was pricey. The cost was $150 for a 60 min massage plus tip. I wish it was a little bit more affordable so I could visit more often. read more

We moved to Austin in 2010 and promptly began rebuilding the property we bought. Within one year, I had managed to mess my muscles up something fierce, and on a contractor's recommendation, I visited Austin Deep. I have never had a bad massage or experience at Austin Deep, and to be honest, my only complaint is that they have ruined my ability to get a massage anywhere else. The massages I get elsewhere are never as helpful as those at Austin Deep. (Consequently, I don't even try to get massages elsewhere, which is only a real issue on vacation!) To those who have not gotten an authentic deep tissue massage: You'll be a bit sore afterwards, but as your muscles lose their tenderness, you will quickly realize the gain in mobility and reduced stress pain. So I booked online and selected a female. Unfortunately, upon arrival they paired me up with a male masseuse. I spoke with the front desk person and she was able to accommodate me with my original request. I was paired up with Sabrina, and she targeted my problematic areas. The ambiance was great. The connection was also great too, asking me how the pressure was and explaining where the knots are and she focused on my improvement. I love AUSTINDEEP and their unique technique! I have been searching for the best massage in Austin for years and I think I've finally found it. I see Elizabeth. She's pretty new to massage and you would NEVER know it! The AUSTINDEEP technique really warms up your fascia before getting into the deeper layers of tension. I appreciate this sooooo much since deep tissue work is so intense but necessary. It's nice to warm it up before diving right into painful releases. Elizabeth's massage offered me so much relief, and so much more relief than any of the other massages I've had, that I immediately rebooked with her at checkout. Please stay away from this place as far as you could. I would give it minus 100 points if I could. I have been getting massages all my life around the world. From Hawaii to Italy, but this was the first one I could not believe was really happening. I was very excited since it was my first time visiting Austin. I read the reviews and booked my appointment with AustinDeep massage downtown location. It was a huge mistake I made that Learned later. The massage therapist was beyond rude and inappropriate. He exposed my low back way too much my comfort level and his massage technique felt very unprofessional and very uncomfortable. On top of that, the music in the downtown Austin massage place was way too loud and it was very uncomfortable and difficult to relax . When I brought it to the massage therapist's attention, I was told that's how they do it. He kept doing very unpleasant and unprofessional movements touching me inappropriately and uncomfortably. After about 5 minutes he started, I said wanted a different massage therapist and at this point he ran out of the room and called me a bitch. I am not kidding, that's what I was called in the massage place paying a lot of money to have my massage. I demanded to talk to the owner at this point, which I was refused by a scared and a not very helpful receptionist, to say the least. I was also told if I didn't leave immediately they would call the cops. Instead, I called the cops and made a report. The massage owner never contacted me and inquired about what happened. Thankfully, I have attorneys in my family , who would help the situation I was put in, which I never expected in the worst case scenario. I still cannot believe the place they put me through. Very upsetting and unsettling. Unfortunately, I had not choice but I had to involve a legal council in the place I never expected to. So, please keep this in mind before you book. read more

I'm all for paying for things of value but the value cost for this is a little bit off. Both of our Massage Therapist were great. He worked on the areas and knew what he was doing and could tell when he found the tightness and would work out the knots. It was definitely a painful massage lol, but you could feel how the therapist pinpoints exactly where the inflammation is and works it out. It's a cool spot and everyone was so nice. The full body massage was excellent. I was deeply relaxed when I left. The problem is, that I wasn't looking for a full body massage. I needed help with a shoulder. That's what I said in the questionnaire, and in the conversation with the therapist. The recovering shoulder was one equal part of the massage. After the massage, I was told that I could buy a longer session to pay more attention to the shoulder. I asked if I couldn't get an hour, and work only on the shoulders. I was told that, no, they had to do the full massage. So, if you want to be relaxed, this is the place. But, if you're looking for real massage therapy, do not go to Austin Deep. read more

Excellent deep tissue massage. I've been twice and will continue to go back. I had stopped my hormone replacement therapy and instantly developed arthritis in my knees which I've never had before. It took two sessions to work out the toxins built up and that alone sold me on the therapeutic aspect of deep tissue massages. The first visit I'm pretty sure I wanted to cry a few times but afterwards the therapist told me I needed a longer session and that I needed to come back. I didn't feel it was a sales pitch because I'm sure she could feel how tight my muscles were. I'm awful at not stretching before or after my weighted workouts. I don't plan to stop lifting weights so I will continue going back. A little pricey. But they do have specials that you can take advantage of when you sign up for their emails. Really finding where you have tension and focusing on those areas. My massage therapist was Cristina and she was a great communicator. Constantly asking me how the pressure was and asking me whether she was targeting the right areas based on what I was feeling. They give you a bottle of water and a bag of epsom salt to soak with when you go home which was a nice touch. Admittedly it's a bit pricey but I'd say it's worth it. read more
