This company gave me a bid for a job at the beginning of January and told me that they were 6 weeks out. I was fine with that but then they kept putting me off and now don't respond to emails or phone calls. This is a bad business practice in my opinion and apparently others have been burned by this too, after reading reviews. These guys are great! "Old Austin" isn't what it used to be but in this case... it is!! Very professional, thorough and all around great. These guys know their business (having been in business for over 30 years!) and they are damn worth it. Speaking of which, not pricy either! If you are pricing out multiple vendors you need to talk to these folks. Their prices and product are awesome. You get more than what you pay for, which is getting rarer these days. If I could leave less than 1 star I would, they are one of the worst companies I have ever wasted my time with. I called to get an estimate on replacing my bedroom windows and getting screens for all of my windows. Gary was very responsive, came out and gave me a rough estimate and said he would email me the estimate the next day. After 4 days of not hearing anything, I emailed him and he said he didn't know what happened, he would send the estimate and then someone would call me to have the estimators come out and give me the "firm" estimate for my job. I got the "soft" estimate from Gary as promised, but after a week, no one called to schedule the other estimators. I emailed Gary again and he said again that he didn't know what happened and he would have someone call the next day. Three days later, a lady called and scheduled the estimators. They came out, and said someone would get back with me within a week with the estimate and to schedule the job. Three weeks later after not hearing a word, I called. The lady that I spoke with had a bunch of excuses why I had been "missed" and promised that she would handle it herself and look into what happened and call me back within the hour. A month later and I still haven't heard a word. Not only did they waste my time, twice, they did a great job of showing me what a poorly run, unorganized, uncaring business they are running and I am glad that I did not give them my money. I can honestly say that I have never seen a company that is so unwilling to take your business, they definitely don't deserve yours, stay away! read more

I recently had all of the windows in my house replaced by Austin Windowerks and I am a happy camper. Their price was great and they did a top notch job. They do emergency glass replacement, but for normal window replacement, it might take a little time to order your windows, but it's well worth the wait for a good price and quality installation. And unlike some other companies they won't take your money and run ... they take the time to be sure you are satisfied and that the job has been done right. These people are not like your average window company. I was quoted by several other companies prior to choosing Austin Windowerks and each time it was the same. A guy shows up at the door with a box of tricks ... he puts on his little magic show demonstration and, much like a car salesman, uses high pressure sales tactics to get you to make a decision on the spot. If you don't make a decision right away, he will call you repeatedly twice a week, every week, for the rest of your life. Austin Windowerks does not operate that way. They don't play games and they don't use pressure tactics. The owner, Gary, is a super nice guy. He came by personally to tell me about his company (in the window business for 40 years) and show me the window he was recommending for my house (made by Burris in Dallas). He said, this is what I have and if you want it, great! I appreciate your business. We can install it for you, or I can just sell you the windows and you can install them yourself. If you don't want them, that's okay. Tell me "no, thanks" and I'll never bother you again. You don't find companies with that kind of attitude often these days and that alone made me want to do business with them. Their installer, Eric, was a window hanging machine. He nearly finished the job (12 windows) by himself in one day. Gary said there might be a little dust, but he lied. I couldn't find a spec of dust anywhere after he was done. The trim work that he did to finish it off looks better than what was there to begin with and he worked so quietly that he never woke up my 16 month old nephew from his nap. Oh, and the windows? I love them. My house looks better and stays so much cooler. An added unexpected bonus is that I can't hear ANY of my neighbors' noisy barking dogs. read more

I ordered some custom insulated glass units here, and Windowerks had a better price and turnaround time than my usual glass company (Alamo Glass). The glass units turned out great, and when one of the installers accidentally shot a nail through the edge of one, Windowerks was able to order and assemble a replacement within a few days. I've never used this company, but I will say that I appreciate their honesty and integrity, so I'd thought I'd write a good review. I've called several places and getting quotes for window replacement. I'm needing it now because with the temperature going up, so will my Ac Bill bc of the busted window. I called about a quote and the guy that I spoke with said that they were swamped. It would be a couple of weeks. We bought a new house whose prior owners had thrown away all of the screens on the windows. After reading all these glowing Yelp reviews, I called Austin Windowerks in November to see if we can get on the schedule to have them come give us an estimate. The woman I talked to imperiously told me that they just don't give out free estimates anymore with "the Austin real estate market the way it is." Okay, I told her we were definitely buying this house and I still wanted to get an estimate for window screens. So I got on their supposedly three week long waiting list for the privilege of paying $60 to have them come out and give me an estimate. I even called in December to see how that waiting list was going. I never heard another thing from them. I think they are too busy to take new customers. read more

Gary was a pleasure to deal with and Jerome and the rest of the installation crew were very professional and proficient with the installation and ensuring everything was done properly. For windows that could not be replaced due their unusual shape, Windowerks replaced the glass and painted the frames so they would match the replacement windows. Gary also provided excellent suggestions when we were not sure what to do with certain windows. Windowerks does a turn-key job, including installing and painting trim. Gary told us that "we wouldn't even know they'd been there" and he was right! The installation crew cleaned up everything, so that cleanup from my end was very minimal. Not a single complaint and I like dealing with the owner, Gary Carpenter. I had one oversize windows for the living room and two for an office area. Gary came in with a very good bid. His windows are solid. Watch with a light heart the amazing sales gimmicks such as Kevlar in the frame. Geez Louise!! His employees installed all three and did a very good cleanup. A generous amount of caulk was used on the siding and the windows were sealed tight. That meant a lot to me. It speak quality. He will eventually do more windows. Austin Windowerks Pros: Great experience, professional friendly staff, complete honesty, best value Cons: this type of job takes time and is remodeling, so its messy and loud We have a two story house built in 1993 and have always hated the windows. Solar screens were all the rage then and they kept our house dark inside and were impossible to clean. One of our windows was broken and many of the other windows simply did not work well. We decided new windows were needed. We priced them at lowes and depot and we knew the cost would be between 10k and 20k. We called one company on the recommendation of a family member, one from Angies List and one from Yelp. All were local.We found Austin Windowerks on Yelp. Everyone we contacted was nice and contacted us promptly after being called. This was approximately April 10, 2015. The first firm we saw came in and was very informative about windows. After shopping lowes and depot, we thought we wanted double hung windows for ease of cleaning since we have a two story house. The 1st window person said double hungs were move expensive and showed us the model she carried. She told us about the glass choices and casement colors. We made some decisions and she started measuring. She measured and left. We got a quote by the end of the week for 17k. The next person came in and since we had already learned quite a bit about windows, it went much faster. We knew color and style. They were a siding and window firm. He measured made some suggestions about changing window style in places we had large mulled windows. We said we really wanted window style to stay the same and window sash lines to stay the same. His quote was about 15k, but that included replacing our large single hung windows with smaller sliders and picture windows. The price was better but we weren't going to get what we wanted. Finally we met Gary Carpenter, owner of Austin Windowerks. After two interviews we thought we knew about windows but Gary explained a lot what we learned in much more detail and so we could understand. After we told him about wanting double hung windows he asked us why. We said that we thought they would ease cleaning. He said double hung windows are for northern climates where it's colder and icier. We need to keep the heat out and seldom leave windows open. A double hung was not better at keeping heat out that so why use them. Also our windows were wide and tall. the bottom sash would be easy to lift out but not the top sash and both were heavy and risked dropping and breaking. He would sell us double hungs but recommended single hung, Instant savings. He even dissuaded us from adding extra windows where some large sliders were.He then started measuring. After measuring he said that he could sell and install new windows and the house would look the same as before except with better windows. His quote was the lowest and most detailed. The other two folks had given us one and two page quotes sheets summing up the install, His was detailed to the point of including each window its position and details we had added for with a graphic showing the type of window and its orientation. He did ask for the most down which was half. The first person asked for a quarter down and the other had said nothing had to be paid until the install. Gary said replacement windows are custom made since the openings vary and he had to pay the vendor to get the process started. We would pay the balance after install and our complete satisfaction. It took about six weeks to get the windows made and four days to install. The install went smoothly and the installers were very professional. We are very happy with the result and recommend Austin Windowerks to anyone looking at replacement windows. read more

I hate to report this but I feel that I need to. I called Austin Windowerks back in November of 2016. They put all of our windows in our home in Spring of 2003. Everything was beautiful. But for the last 5 years I have had a large window that had a broken seal. We travel extensively so I have played catch up. All the glass in our home that they installed had a warranty for 15 years. Since November 2016 I have placed at least 6 calls and have received "I will check and will call you back" every time. Then after 3 months of trying to get an answer they finally said, "Oh that company went under so there is no warranty." So, I called again 2 months ago just to get them to come and repair at my expense. "I will check and call you back." Still no reply. So I finally today called again after 5 months. "Oh I see a work order." So I asked does that mean you are 2 to 3 months backed up? And they said, "I will check and call you back this afternoon." I understand if a company is really busy, but I was a customer that gave them at least 3 to 4 thousand dollars worth of business. So, I called another company immediately after getting the "I will check and call you back this afternoon," again and they are coming out tomorrow. Apparently they are too busy for regular customers or they have plenty of business to pick and choose. read more
