Beautiful doors, completely custom design process. They made us feel pretty special compared to other iron door companies we interviewed for our project. Given the price tag for iron doors, we wanted something unique and Durango definitely stepped up and delivered a beautiful product. Rating 4 stars versus 5 stars because there were a few errors along the way over the 6 months we worked with them on our project. Support could have been better for the CAD approval process for the design final drawings. But, they were very responsive and ultimately made everything right. read more

I purchased the front doors for my home from Durango Doors and recently found one of the latches to one of the windows on the floor. After inspecting the latch, I figured out the latch on this so call wrought iron door was made from plastic / resin. My wife contacted Durango but did not have any luck with anyone returning her calls. I few weeks later a second latch broke from the same window. I went to Durango and inquired about purchasing the replacement latches. Heather takes me into the warehouse and gives me a lesson on wear and tear but would not answer my question about having plastic parts on my wrought iron door. She does admit that the latches have been a problem that the company knew about. She then tells me the latches are $20 each. Now she wants $120 for 6 replacement latches which I believe were made of some type of metal when I purchased the doors. I look at her, and she looks at me and insinuates if I cannot afford the latches to check on Amazon for the latches. I told her if I could not afford them, I would not have purchased the doors. She realized what she had said to me and apologized. On way out I asked Heather how long they have known about the defective latches. She replied before she started working there so a few years. I replied this was a safety issue because of the faulty resin latches someone could have broken into my home. If you purchased doors from Durango, I recommend you check for these defective latches and wear a suit when you enter this business, or they will assume you cannot afford the replacement parts. read more

We ordered a steel + glass partition 8 months ago that Durango kept claiming was being made (and lying to our General Contractor about it for months), and then weeks after they were supposed to be installed, they finally admitted that they took our money for the order but never made the product. She said door is same price based on size, so you can decide on options and it doesn't change the price. She wouldn't tell us the price, even though we had the size, but she would email a quote. Very disappointed in our dealings with this company. The doors we paid dearly for...were delivered the wrong color and now we are having to accept a site repair versus the factory finish. We have left phone messages and sent emails without a reply, and trying to get hold of the principle team member is impossible. After dealing with other door contractors for over a year to fix my Durango Doors, the owner of Durango cam to my home to try and fix issues with dragging, air gaps and thresholds on one door. After two attempts I was told that most of his customers would be fine with it and it was left as is. Today's attempt was adding lube to a hinge and adjusting the strike plate. The door is so difficult to close that my kids can't close it and nearly get their hands smashed when they do. I have concerns of potential injury to my kids and/or guests. This is one os three identical doors. The others work fine. The owner requested an update on Yelp and pointed out that he had to spend two half days at my house for these attempts at repairing the brand new doors. Obviously the main reason for the visits was to save face. I had to spend literally two weeks at home over the last year, watching contractor after contractor try and fix the issues that Durango left behind after their initial installation, but those hours of my time do not matter to the company owner. The valiant efforts to fix the doors are appreciated, but I will still be stuck with another bill to fix the door and I wasted more of my time this morning as well. I don't think an increase to two stars is warranted, but I'm doing it anyway. Maybe I'll get some good Karma out of this and the next door repair guy will be able to help fix the issue. read more

If I could leave less than 1 star I would. We ordered and paid $3,000+ for a custom steel and glass door on 10/12/2020...19 weeks later, the subpar and scratched door was installed on 2/27/2021. The installers informed us that our custom matching exterior trim was never made/ordered, so they left the space/gaps around the door exposed to the elements. We were left to find a temporary solution to close the gaps until the trim is made and installed (something that has not yet occured). Communication with sales, accounting and installation is horrendous. It's easier to communicate with the IRS than anyone at Durango Doors. I strongly recommend finding another custom door company unless you feel like getting swindled. read more

We bought about $250,000.00 worth of Durango Doors about 5 years ago. We had a leak in one of the units about 1 1/2 years ago. Durango came out and repaired it but it is leaking again and two other units are also leaking. I have called multiple times and no one ever returned the call. When I finally talked to to someone they said they no longer service their doors and would not even refer me to someone who might help. I have since spoken to some people in the industry and they tell me this is typical of Durango, apparently the manager left about 6-7 months ago and they now are now completely incompetent. I'm not having a problem with paint or finish I just prefer not to have rain water on my custom wood floor. read more

Would not recommend these people at all. I ordered 9 exterior doors as well as an interior wine room door from them and they came in the wrong size. The weld tabs on the doors that are used for mounting to the studs in the walls were welded wrong as well. All of these doors are made in Mexico and shipped to the US. They are just a broker. I now have had the doors for 4 years and some of the door knobs /locking systems have needed to be re-tightened. I took off the trim that covers the knob and noticed that all of the internal screws had been stripped. I supposed that their installers had used cordless screw guns and the screws had been stripped so they could have not been re-tightened when installed. Luckily I had chosen a Baldwin brand knob and they have lifetime warranty on parts. I had to contact Baldwin to get replacement interior screws on four of the doors. I am also noticing that the place in Mexico where Durango gets their doors made, uses white bondo(metal filler) on these metal doors as a finishing filler and I am noticing a lot of the bondo falling out of the doors causing the white to show. In this short of time, these doors should not need to be touched up with paint and refilled. So now I am dreading the up keep on these doors. Their standard warranty is 1 year from installation. When I contacted Durango Doors about an area of scratched finished that I accidentally made on my six month old door, they offered to repair it for free. The work was just completed and the door looks like new--there is no trace of the scratch and the repair blends seamlessly into the door. Hats off to the skilled artists who performed the repair! Recently, we purchased two doors from Durango Doors and neither one met our expectations. The front door was measured and built incorrectly and now that is installed it doesn't close properly. We haven't moved back to the house yet and the frame around the handle has come loose. We had specifically asked that the back door hinges be fused but when the door came, they were not. They totally dismissed the fact that they had made a mistake in measuring the front door and insisted that we had signed the paperwork that gave the measurements. I'd like to know that if we knew how to measure/build and install a door, then why would we go to them to do it for us!! However, we learned a lesson here and we will not make this mistake again with any vendor. We had to pay ourselves to frame the gap and live with the mismatch between the door's level and the window next to it. They have come twice to fix the issue of not being able to smoothly close the front door (you practically have to push/pull and force it to close) and neither time they were successful. Practically, they left it as "this is how it works!" I am wondering how come the doors in the showroom works differently than our door?!? In one of these visits they fused the hinges of the back door but totally damaged and scratched the paint. They did not even bother to clean it up and paint it back. Since then we have numerously contacted them but no one answers anymore. When visiting Durango to place our order, I mentioned specifically that they have not received good reviews on yelp and asked if they have done anything about it. The salesperson working with us claimed that she hasn't heard/read any of it. I gave her a summary by telling her that everyone had complained that they are super-friendly and accommodating during the ordering process, but once the doors arrive, they don't meet the quality that they were promised and that Durango does a poor job in fixing the issues (if they show-up). Her answer was "this is not true, this is not how we do business and if anything goes wrong, I will personally come to fix it!" Well be aware, the reviews were correct, the sales process was 5 star and the product/service and follow-up was dismal. We expected more than just a good look from distance after paying more than $6000 for two doors. read more

It's a trade-off. The doors are beautiful...and I love the look. But, there is a lot of maintenance post installation. Also, be wary that Durango Doors spends 99.9% of their time helping customers with new purchases. Ive tried to hire Durango Doors for some minor post installation maintenance, (That I am 100% willing to pay for) and have had zero success in getting the work done. read more

I have a door I bought from Durango Doors about 8 years ago, and it was one of the best purchases I've made for my house. The swing action on the door is absolutely perfect. The finish has weathered wonderfully and in all honestly looks about the same as when I first purchased it. I had to purchase maintenance on the door when I broke the glass with a rock while mowing, and the cost of the replacement glass was very fair, and the installers were good. In my opinion there is something pretty special about a hand-made metal door from Mexico, and they are worth the cost. I would definitely buy from this company again. read more

I have a 4 year old double door in a custom home which needed some servicing. There was a little chipping of the finish in 2 small areas and the door would not close tightly unless it was slammed. I called and spoke with Kenneth. I sent him photos of the areas of concern. A date was scheduled for the repair. Raphael arrived right on time. He was very professional and took great pride in his workmanship. He was very considerate in keeping his work area clean. The refinished areas are perfect and the door closes snugly without slamming. I almost never write reviews, but our experience with these guys has been so bad, that we feel we have to let the public know. I would stay away from them at all costs - from John the owner throughout the company, have little to no regard for quality or the customer. They do not stand behind their work - which was horrible from the get go. As you see in many of these posts, from installation to the door itself were horrible. We had problems from installation, to service, to quality. We had our door custom made with many flaws in the product and installation was done incorrectly to where we are not even able to use the door. We are now having to have the entire door removed by another door company due to it being installed incorrectly. John was unwilling to back up his work, his warranty and his product. We recently bought two doors from them. Given the price, we expected high end product and good service. Unfortunately we received neither. The front door came with the wrong jamb. It required multiple service calls to get the installation done. We still have outstanding issues but have received no response from them despite numerous attempts. I have just finished getting front and back doors installed at my home via Durango doors and the process has gone down without a hitch. The product was exactly what I had expected, the install crews were on time and the operations manager even made an appearance to make sure everything was going smoothly . Even though it was a small job on the grand scale of what they are used to , Durango doors treated it as they would a huge job. If I had other doors to replace I would definitely use Durango doors again. read more

What a disaster these guys are. Great at selling, that's for sure. However, the quality of the product, installation and service is beyond comprehension for what the charge. We spent $30k with them, so would think they would care. Measured and delivered one of our windows wrong 3 TIMES. Once was even upside down! Delayed the project 3 months. Then, one of the doors wouldn't shut. Three service calls later and 2 adjustments it still would not shut....yet they left with no follow up. Latch broke TWICE in first 3 weeks. Large windows leak. Window panes installed upside down in two large windows. Never sealed any of the windows so we hired someone else to finish the project. Honestly the most amazing lack of professionalism I've seen....and they really didn't seem to care. Not sure how they stay in business but stay away. They are a joke. They did reach out 2 months after with an apology, we didn't respond as it was far little and too late. read more

From the start of the process to the finishing touches, they were professional, on time, on budget, and not satisfied until every last detail was taken care of. Our job was a remodel, so it included making something work with the house we have. The sales staff helped us customize a door with unique glass and features that are truly magnificent. Next the measurement guy came to the house to get exact specs for our custom door. He made his measurement and then patiently took the time to discuss how the new door would fit in with our home. He allayed our concerns about the installation and how the walls would be finished next to the door. He actually undersold the installer skills because the door looks like it is original. Installers and finishers did a great job !! The door has a solid and heavy feel but opens and closes easily and silently. We get TONS of compliments on our beautiful front door and frequently refer our friends to Durango. Refreshing service all around from a locally owned business. The door will outlast us, so we'll have to buy a new house to get to work with Durango again, but it's the only doors we'll ever have.. read more

I read the prior reviews and maybe this was different ownership or franchise? A durango door is a durango door and if you are looking for one, you know what it will add to your house. They are gorgeous and when the neighbors run over before the door can even get hung (one who also had one installed last year) you will have pride in the selection of the door. As for the company, I couldnt be happier. Bid process was easy (I work with contractors daily, this was a breeze). Downtown selection of mats/designs was quick and painless. Owner emailed design within 48 hours as promised for our approval. Installer set good expectations as to timeframe of delivery (it takes a bit, 2-3 months). And when it arrived early, I was fit into a busy schedule to get me done ahead of time. Door is beautiful. Craftsmanship preserving the interiro doorframe is GREATLY appreciated. Molding at the floor and frame is great (no hack jobs due to poor measurements, or replacement mats because they killed your existing wood). They worked in my ADT sensors, and let me go buy my own keypad lock, which they installed in lieu of the hardware. And they gave me the hardware I had paid for with the door (instead of taking it back to the shop to sell again). I couldnt be happier and I know my wife is happier than I am. We will see on followup observations/criticism, but so far so good here read more
