    Front door

Durango Doors absolutely delivered. We ordered a beautiful door and we actually decided on a lighter color than we wanted. After the install, we expressed our dissatisfaction with the color. Think hard about your color, people. They sent a crew to make it right and they nailed it. We love our new door that looks beautiful and will stop a tank. Great job, DD! Jeff & Michelle Pitts

We get compliments all the time on our Durango doors. The install and service have been excellent as well.

He worked very fast and did an awesome job on every project.. from hanging a few lights, mirrors, putting furniture together, etc. I'm very particular and he far exceeded my expectations! I highly recommend him for any work around the house.

Instead, I received someone who was working their first day ever for Matt with no supervision or heads up. We had a fairly simple workload to get completed. Towel Rods to install and twenty or so art/pictures to be hung. After five hours (5!) we had three towel rods installed and 3 pictures hung. Barely one item per hour. I was texting Matt all throughout the day that the pace of his worker was far too slow. He acknowledged the pace was unacceptable and agreed to comp three hours from the morning to get a more appropriate pace of work to price and to allow the worker to finish the work with feedback his pace had to improve. At the end of the day the worker then spilled paint all over our brand new wood floors in the nursery and onto a Lola blanket that thankfully saved our nursery rocker from being destroyed. He got it cleaned up better than I could have expected, but that was an extra hour at bedtime with babies crying and a room smelling of strong acetone to get things back to "normal". After the fact, I never received an apology from Matt. I was sent repeated texts and emails about paying his invoice. I had provided a link to the blanket ruined which he did not properly deduct the replacement cost from the invoice. He also sent through the invoice with less hours removed than agreed to and said he had "re-assessed" what he thought was fair. That his work speed went up after my complaints so that should have somehow forgiven the snail pace to start the day that was then capped by damage to our property. Overall, the one and only redeeming quality was that the worker was kind and his craftsmanship was good. We let him keep working because his work and presence was not an issue, but his speed and quality for the hourly rate were not at all in alignment. $110/hour is a premium rate for a handyman which means a premium experience. Premium quality and premium efficiency. I made it very known he could continue working but only if his speed was more appropriate or the rate was reduced to match his performance. I left offended by all of my experiences with the person that has their name on the business. Attempting to re-negotiate an agreed upon reduced rate AFTER damage in my home occurred is a bold move to maintain a reputable business. I let Matt know multiple times I would be letting my experience go public with a review and anyone who is considering hiring HandyMatt should really think twice before proceeding.

I had been meaning to do a bunch of repairs on my house (which is just about 13 years old and remediated 6 years ago) and was trying to reach out to different people to do different jobs with varying levels of success. The result was a backlog of things to do and coordinate with different parties. I originally reached out to David for some help with repairing a shower door that had fallen off. He replied quickly and showed up to do his estimate as scheduled. While he was over, he looked at a bunch of the other things that I needed to have done and offered to do them as well. He repaired everything in one day only a few days later. I have to applaud David for his courage to start his own business. But this makes sense for him. He knows he is good at what he does and he is organized. He is highly professional in his correspondence. He will outline precisely what he intends to do. He is timely. He is versatile in the tasks that he can perform. He possesses initiative. And he will follow-up with thorough documentation of what was done and needs to be done. Payment is also easy and he accepts a number of modalities. I have attached some of the pictures he took for the various jobs including: 1. Window blind replacement 2. Water valve and supply line replacement (more details below) 3. Ceiling fan remote control failure diagnosis 4. Watersealing of door threshold (more details below) 5. Tub spout repair 6. Shower door repair and adjustment (I contacted a bunch of people who would not offer to do this) 7. Sliding door repair (which another contractor said they would fix but never did) I want to comment in particular on his ability to diagnose problems. For the longest time, my kitchen faucet had slow flow. Just the kitchen faucet. Over the years, I contacted perhaps 3-4 different plumbing companies. They recommended ridiculous things like increasing the water pressure to the house (which didn't make a lot of sense given that the other faucets were fine and was impossible because the pressure was already maximized) and even replacing the faucet altogether (which would cost $220 for the same model and not resolve the underlying problem). David diagnosed the problem as excess calcium build-up in the valves and he was right! He knew the answer when all the professional "tradesmen" did not. I also have what some people would call a "lemon" for a house. The contractors that built it did bad job. It was remediated but even after this remediation, I had problems. One of them was the balcony door which would leak water when it rained. I contacted the builder and they said that my second warranty had expired and they recommended how to repair it. Suffice to say that they were completely wrong and David uncovered some pretty shoddy workmanship and commented on the unorthodox remediation which would lead to the problem. I should have had David remediate my house. Overall, I am exceedingly happy to have stumbled upon this gentleman and would be pleased to refer him to others. He is basically the "doctor" you want for your house. I hope he stays in business a long time.
