I wish we had the 5 star experience these other reviews had, alas, we did not. We ordered 15 Marvin replacement windows, and to start some of the windows were mis-measured and should have been replaced. I could never get a straight answer as to why my Child's room window had over a 1 inch gap, far above Marvin's standard deviation of .25 inches. They should have addressed this by reordering the windowed, but honestly, that was the least of our issues.
The install which should have taken 3 days took 2 months, approx. 20+ days of having workers in our home. When the windows were installed, we raised concern about the gaps being large and that we wanted to explore trim options. We were never given trim options but the project manager told us that caulking was the answer and it would "look great". What a terrible idea that was. I wish I could go back in time and demand trim options and say NO! to caulking our brand new windows. It would have saved us all time, money, frustration, and this negative review. So they caulked up 15 beautiful black interior windows - I have never seen so many empty caulk tubes in my life. Terrible. It looked gloppy, and unprofessional. With the amount of money we were spending on these new windows, I wanted to cry. I did so along the way. Several times. I even called Marvin, and they told me they make trim, but Showroom didn't order it. Brandon still maintains they don't make window trim and "whomever I spoke with didn't know what they were talking about."
So we raised our concerns about how bad the caulking looked, so they came back and caulked the windows AGAIN! Now caulk extended past our frames, it was all over the frame filler, and the window frame. So we complained some more, demanded Marvin trim, to which we were told no since they "don't make it." He brought in another crew to make trim (they cut wood) and paint the windows, which was an exercise in futility. This was also a nightmare that is similar to the what is written in the above paragraph. They caulked more -- white caulk this time, painted, painted, and painted again.
So after weeks, Brandon finally bit the bullet and hired a third party window installer to come in a clean up this mess and try to get this project done. They came in and they spent about 2 weeks with a razor blade and paint and this painter was meticulous. It really speaks to the fact that painting is a skill, and not everyone possesses that skill. After starting on Nov 1, 2022, they finished the installation on Jan. 6, 2023 and the windows look very good - some better than others, but they got to the finish line. We are pleased with the final product, but not the process getting here.
Then....a month after we are done, paid, and have all gone about our lives, I get a knock on my door and it's the first installers stating they never got paid for any of the work they did. So now they can place a lien on our home since Showroom never paid them for the work they did. Maybe they have come to an agreement at the time of writing this review, but Brandon blames them for the poor caulking but I am of the belief that this solution was never going to look good. You are caulking huge voids and gaps. That's not the purpose of caulk. Plus, I found out this was the first time they had ever worked for Showroom and no one oversaw their work. I'm kinda shocked he sent a crew over that he had never worked with to install tens of thousands of dollars worth of windows with no oversight.
So that was our experience. We should have done more due diligence. Asked more questions about how long they had been in business, referrals, etc. Brandon has had a very successful career selling windows, but is clearly learning on the job during the installation process. To this day, our casement and awning windows still don't have the handles screwed on because Showroom didn't know they needed to attach them and/or didn't know how to attach them. read more
