Came to Austin Roller Rink for a party and honestly, what a dump. Let's run through it. The place is super dingy. The bathrooms are not useable...holy shit, literally. The rink itself is old and cracked. Most of the arcade games do not even work. No issues with the service but the facility is extremely run down and just feels sad. It could really use a deep cleaning and some serious sprucing up. That said, everyone else there seemed to be having fun so maybe none of this matters to most people. i wouldn't recommend this place for roller skating. the rink itself was not good quality with lots of bumps and chips in the floor. the skates were also bad quality with some skates missing their sole inside and others just plain hurting your feet and giving you blisters. all the staff were rude except zion! for music, you had to pay about $1.20 per song along with having to download their app where you only can buy credits in odd numbers when each song needed an even number of credits. even when the rink was empty, you still needed to pay. also the music was awfully quiet. read more

Although I had attended a kids party here before, last night was the first time I attended adult night. It was so fun. It's 18 and older and they card do don't forget your ID. It's also BYOB. The skates were in better shape than I expected and the facility is charming, old but clean. They had a Dj and the music was a fun mix of recent songs and throw backs. We like the location. It's affordable, fun, and they have all the skate sizes you need. You can pay a lot of money on the juke box to listen to your own songs while skating, which is a nice option. And there's a tiny arcade. I wouldn't recommend for a kid party because it's not as clean or entertaining as other options. Such as Play-land. There is popcorn and wonderful handmade cupcakes (cash only). Overall, if you love to skate, don't cross this spot off your list of options. read more

I made the trek here from north Austin for the first time for a friend's birthday and I was pleasantly surprised! We went on a Saturday night, which is one of the nights they do 'Adults Only' after a certain time. My friend mentioned it was BYOB on adult nights, but I couldn't find details on what kind of restrictions they have on the BYOB (e.g. cooler size, etc.), but it appears they didn't have any. I had a small personal cooler, but I saw folks bringing in 6-12 packs of beer, no problem. For $13, you get a pair of rollerskates to live out your 12-year-old self. The skates were so tight to put on, but they were comfortable enough. The rink isn't huge, but large enough and the a/c is great. There is seating at the entrance. My friend hosted her birthday party here and it was a great time. We went on an adult skate night and you were able to BYOB. They rent out skates but not blades/inline skates so if you want those you'll need to bring your own. This place looked like an old school skating rink and hasn't been updated in a while but that adds to its charm. A huge plus was that the DJ was great and played such good music all night. This Roller Rink transports you directly to the early 2000s with the carpet, set up and nostalgic snack options. Staff should do a better job of keeping it cleanI really enjoy coming here for Adult Skate night on Sundays its from 8p-midnight. I always have a GREAT time!!! Its $13 entry fee (which includes your skates) its also BYOA (bring your own alcohol) Great hang out spot for friends if you want to do more activities in your free time. Yup, it's a roller rink-- a little battered and grimy from years of service, multi-colored and loud. Some might even say perfect! It was just a $10/person entry fee, which includes the skate rental if you need. Some of the skates also looked pretty tired and worn out. (Note, this isn't necessarily a negative imo... it kind of comes with the territory.) The place was crawling with teenagers, which according to the employees is pretty standard for a weekday night, as parents will drop them off to socialize. The employees were also quite young but plenty responsible (they even told off some young couple trying to make out in a dark corner over the loudspeaker lol). There were a number of "couches" along the walls of the rink to sit and relax at (really they were bench seats removed from old vehicles-- I thought it was a fun touch.) The vibe inside was fun with lots of multicolored lights and a disco ball. Unfortunately some kids were monopolizing the "jukebox" and only playing garbage rap songs nearly the entire time we were there. Bleh. Would've been nicer if they'd been utilizing the DJ booth or having nights where you could make requests the old fashioned way. There was a very spare number of arcade games tucked away on the side and a small concession stand for snacks. The bathrooms were really down on their luck but serviceable. Parking spots on asphalt are limited but there's plenty of room to find room to parallel park along the access road nearby the rink. This is the second birthday party we have attended at Austin Roller Rink. When you go inside it reminded me of skate night back in the 90s. While skating on the rink there is a section in the middle for the people who need to hold on. They play music but sadly you have to pay $1.00 for 2 songs. The concession sells ice cream which came in handy when leaving in the hot TEXAS heat. I know next time I come it won't be for a kids party! read more

I had been eyeing this roller rink for a while before I finally committed to coming in. I've wanted to try roller skating for a long time because I'm not the best at roller blading, and I figured being on four wheels like a car would eliminate the greater need for balance that being on four inline wheels requires. I came on a Friday but the admission price is definitely lower on one of the other weekdays. The actual building is in the back of the plaza so when you initially turn off the road you'll see some other businesses, just keep driving down the lot to go behind those buildings to get in. Once you walk in there's a desk to check in where you'll get your hand stamped before heading to another desk to retrieve your skate rental. Skate rentals only come in full sizes, and I remember being relieved that the pair I received seemed relatively clean and functioned properly. After putting on your skates, find your way to the rink and get ready to have some fun! There was a disco ball spinning from the ceiling and 90s/00s hits were playing on the speakers. There are a couple of booths on the sideline, as well as a few arcade games intended for the younger children. There is a bar in the middle that you can hang on to if it's your first time. In terms of skating skill, I saw the whole range. Some people were unsteady and hanging on at the bar, others managed to skate but fell a few times, others could skate without falling, and the select few could skate forwards, backwards, and while spinning around. I did find roller skating easier than roller blading, and if you've ever been on a skateboard or gone skiing then you should have a solid enough foundation to skate without falling right off the bat. There was a group of young girls who were in the skate but fall a few times boat, but they generally stuck together and I wasn't concerned about plowing into any of them as I know is all of our adult worst nightmares. I spent just about one hour here, it's the type of activity where the more the merrier. The rink definitely has a retro vibe and in some areas the surface is a bit uneven due to filled in cracks, but was smooth enough to grant me an injury-free first time. read more

I hadn't worn a pair of skates in a couple of decades, however I didn't feel intimidated. The skaters range from super slick to beginners (me). The front desk lady is very rude. The whole staff has a bad attitude, and the roller rink is just not worth their disrespect.

We threw a private party at Austin Roller Rink this evening and they were amazing. Our party started 30 mins after their regular closing time and was SO clean. Staff hustled hard to turn the venue around. They were kind and helpful from set up, to music, to games, to clean up. Our male host was exceptional - leading Hokey Pokey, dressing up in a monkey costume to skate, jumping rope! We can't thank them enough for a wonderful party for our girl. :) read more

If you're looking for a big rink with an awesome environment THIS PLACE IS NOT IT! Me and my friend walked in and no one approached us or spoke, they just stared at us. Once we got in and skating, the floor is atrocious! Pot holes and bumps everywhere. We sat down on the rink seats and realized we were the only one wearing our masks!!! We were going to say something but it seemed that it's a TOLERATED behavior. We left immediately, and were there for approximately 20 minutes tops. You're better off making the drive to hit up PLAYLAND where the environment is super friendly, the rink is bigger and WELL MAINTAINED. They REQUIRE masks while skating & ensure things are sanitized. They offer no vegan food options but won't let you bring in outside food. I brought my daughter here and I had to eat in a crowded entry way while my daughter tried to get her skates on as people walked over the top of her. How is that safer or smarter in any way whatsoever than just letting a parent bring in a small bag of personal food so they can help out their daughter. Came here for the roller disco last night (tickets cost 40 dollars each and I had paid for multiple people in our party). No one received skates because there were too many people. So basically we paid to stand in a crowded room...When I approached the front desk to ask if they would be issuing refunds to the people that don't get to skate all night the lady LITERALLY laughed in my face. When I told her she didn't have to act like that, I was just asking a question, she grabbed the man behind her. He said "what seems to be the problem?" I said "well it seems unfair to have paid and not be able to skate. Don't you know how many people you were expecting because you sold tickets?" and he replied " well can you read" I was stunned by this reply (from the manager of all people) and responded with "are you kidding me?" He said well you obviously can't read because it says skates first come first serve. He then continued to belittle me I have never been treated with such disrespect over a simple question. Good, but there are no walkers because they break and cause safety issue, so they don't have walkers, and don't have skates sizes above 15. if you are , you should maybe buy your own skates. Floor is more slippery than other rinks, so please be careful. Would recommend. 9/10 read more

I just came with a few girlfriends, we came on adult night (Sundays 8pm-12:30am and Wednesdays 7:30pm-1am) so there were no kids and it was BYOB, 18 and up. It was $8 for entry and skates with no time limit. They'll mark your hands if you're not 21. We came on a Sunday at 8 and left around 11 just when it started to pick up! But there were a good amount of people, I didn't touch elbows with anyone! Some of the regulars and staff were telling me that it gets insanely busy on Wednesday nights. Some parts of the floor are a bit uneven and there are some nicks and grooves, but it's nothing too bad. The rink itself is a bit small but it works. The food is what you'd expect at your standard roller rink, they don't take card unless you spend over $5 so my friends and I bought a water, soda, and nachos. I can't remember how much the drinks were but the nachos were $3 and they were good, a good portion for the price. I remember thinking the other prices -- for candy, chips, pizza, etc -- looked reasonable and affordable; I was expecting a roller rink to jack up the prices, but that wasn't the case here. The staff is super friendly and willing to help out. The skates don't come in half sizes -- just a warning! If you need a half size, you might want to bring your own pair, which is totally allowed. There are lockers that are available for use for $0.75 but honestly my friends and I just found an empty locker and we didn't have any issues. There's also an arcade, all the games look like they take quarters. All in all I adore this place, it reminds me of when I would go to roller rinks as a kid with my friends or family. So much nostalgia! My friends and I love this place so much that we're going to try to make it a weekly thing to come every Sunday. And get REALLY good :) read more

Great place for adult skate night. Little bummed that you have to pay the same price as people who don't have skates but it's not going to break the bank and there is literally nothing else you really need to pay for other than a locker. I'm not sure what the wall in the center of the rink's purpose is other than more support for beginner skaters and to make the flow of people follow more of a path. Don't love it but not a deal breaker for me. On adult skate night it's BYOB and BYOFood, which is awesome. Literally bring your friends and you've got a party. There are some corners of the rink where more experienced skaters can practice. Great spot to skate for a reasonable price. read more

My 6 yr old niece and I went on a Saturday mid-day. While I don't think the reviews are incorrect, to give a business a 1 star because it doesn't fit YOUR expectations of what it should be is just rude. This place is a family friendly kinda, old sole type place. Lockers are $.75 and kids under 7 are free. It has a vibe that brings you back to when you were a kid. Not the kids with Gucci bags, kids like me. A Military family kid. It was nice to see some affordable prices from a place that would typically be able to jack up prices like a movie theatre would... the staff was friendly, but so am I. We did go to a movie later that day and it was over $75 for 2 of us. However, foe the same amount of time, we had WAY more fun making memories here for under $16 including skates and 2 drinks. It was fun, very casual, and I appreciated the vibe even though it is a bit outdated. Sometimes that's priceless. read more

Its a great place to be at and to relax its very open and they are very responsible about the pandemic and how to moderate the location to enforce COVID 19 safety. The staff is very nice and attentive and I find myself enjoying being there. Whether its a couple people or a lot the place stays nicely organized. When it comes to skates it takes a few tries to get a pair you like but after that they are very nice skates. To conclude my review this is a very nice establishment and I highly recommend coming here with family, alone, or with friends. read more
