I love how this place gives you that old school vibe. Most importantly it was very diverse when it came to ages, ethnicities, and just overall people having a good time regardless. It was beautiful to see. I unfortunately cannot skate at the moment, but I really had a good time watching and listening to the music. They do have a spot for small snack, but I wish it was a little bit more expansive. Additionally, they do have a security officer at the entrance, which I think it's really good. And lastly, the prices weren't too bad when it came to rentals and paying the fee. By the way, you do have to pay even if you're not skating. They also have a pool table so if you are considering playing, make sure you bring your quarters. I noticed the parking lot gets really full so try to get there ahead of time. I honestly love the rink. It's fun and my kids and their friends had a blast skating. But don't have a birthday party there. It's $250 for a basic party package which includes a t shirt for the birthday person, two pitchers of soda, little small ice cream cups with a wooden spoon, and 10 skaters. Each pizza is $17, this is fine since they don't control pizza prizes. But each additional skater is $20. The price to get in is $11 and skates are $5. Where does the $20 come from? Extra 5 for the ice cream cup? Even with all of that my total should have been $381 but it was $438. For fees? Taxes, I guess? I felt terrible that I couldn't tip the woman helping us (even thought two separate guests told me she was rude) but I BLEW my budget and felt blindsided by the price. read more

I'm rating 4 for the awesome big wood floor! The food and drink selection is ok and the prices are decent. They have rental skates with 3 options: regular quad skates, speed quad skates and roller blades. On family day, adults with kids don't pay for entry. It's pretty clean and the bathrooms work. I love skating here. I only wish that they would tell indecently dressed customers to add some clothes when they attend in family day with children around. The pricing is very reasonable, the staff was great, and it had a feel of the 2000s like when we use to go as teens. The DJ was awesome and energetic and played a great variety of music and at one point did limbo and stopped open skate to allow for fast skating divided into 3 turns (kids, teens, adults). 10 of us tried to skate while visiting here from Missouri & California while visiting family. The woman at the front was rude from the very beginning when we were paying but we wanted to give this place a try. The DJ was not playing anything that people can really skate to and there were periods of silence. The ref continuously reprimand two skaters in our group for skating backwards saying there are backwards skating designated times which was only once in 3 hours. I could go on about things that were under performing in this review but I would rather suggest that the business appreciate all skaters who choose to spend their money skating. Like other reviewers mentioned on Google reviews, this is not a rink that appreciates skaters. DJ should play a mixture of music, disco/funk/old school/freestyle/Michael Jackson/metal... My daughter attended her classmate's birthday party here, and the place was packed with multiple birthday parties happening at once. Unfortunately, I won't be returning. I have a strong aversion to businesses that nickel and dime their customers--it feels like price gouging. Wednesday night adult night DJ sucks. He plays the worst music, spends MOST of his time on the floor instead of behind the DJ booth. The music he plays is terrible. I'm almost 100% sure he's racist. We had fallen and after just one second he yelled out on the intercom to stand up and no one can be laying down but of course the people who he knew and I saw him chatting with were able to just frolic and sit on the ground for minutes ( yes they were yt ) every time we fell or did anything he said something on the speaker about us and not to ANYONE ELSE. I truly do like this place but the more than middle aged chubby white guy who throws people out for chewing gum honestly ruins the experience everytime he's in control of the set up. Friends of mine have been telling us we need to try the Rollercade for months and I am SO glad we finally jumped in! Our first try was on adult night (Wednesday) and we were warned to get there early because there is typically a line. While the line did manifest around 7, by the time we showed up about 7:45 we were inside in a flash. Entrance/rentals are a breeze, $10 to get in and then $4 for skates. If you bring your own, skip the rental fee. You can also purchase a token for a locker to put your belongings in for $1. It seems many people opt to just leave their items underneath the seating around the rink and don't seem particularly concerned about theft which makes me think it's a trusted community vibe. Before we could even get inside we had made multiple conversations with the friendly regulars and security and could tell this place had a great culture! Upon throwing on our skates we were right in the rink and it was a BLAST! Even as a beginner, watching all the regulars dance and have such a good time made it the most fun. The music and lights add great atmosphere as well! Beginners should be warned that you will be asked to stick to the middle of the rink until you have your skate legs ready. During adult night some skaters can get pretty fast and intense, however it is apparent that everyone is watching out for each other and being respectful. Even as the rink got crowded toward the end of the night it wasn't an issue to have your own skating space and feel confident you wouldn't get caught in any collisions. A few notables: there is a snack stand which offers lite fair and no alcohol (trust me, this is a good thing when people get into the rink) and parking is tricky! Very slim lanes so plan ahead if you have a large car or parking makes you anxious. You are able to take private lessons with the staff if you want and we also got a tip that coming on a Thursday proves to be pretty dead, making it easier to practice if you aren't ready to throw yourself right in. My daughter loves roller skating. We always go to rollercade when we skate even though I live closer to another rink. We come here because of the great service from entry, skate rental, and concessions. Very young staff but well trained. The facility is well maintained. Always clean and floor is leveled and maintained. The facility has a great size that allows for many people to be on the floor at one time. Sunday is family skating day and gets pretty packed. Only improvement I would ask for is better snacks. The nachos are $6 and it's nothing more than chips and cheese in a plastic container. I will continue to come here. read more

The music and skater experience was great until the started getting bad. I've only been skating for 2yrs and with that experience, although some may say it's not enough experience, I can whole heartedly say that this place is TRYING to make itself worse. I love the Djs here, Malorie and Tyler have had some of the best nights that I've seen in person, they keep the vibe going and it would be amazing if they could play actual skate music sometimes but as of awhile they haven't been allowed too, my most recent night at the rink with the bald guy was dj and and it torturous, no rhythm at all, he had his moments but were barely commendable all in all. I get that I could go to a different rink but I've never experienced Rollercade levels of nights any where else in San Antonio, I pray that old skaters that used to be regulars would appear again, I have only one person that I go to when I want help and he's amazing but the community in Rollercade hasn't been the same for a long time now, the culture rarely comes around and I hope that one day I can hit this rinks floor ready for good music and a community I can't find anywhere else. read more

I actually enjoyed this skating rink. Nice crowd everyone had on their mask. I was able to get the skate helper for my two year old. The only reason why I didn't give 5 stars is because the bathroom stalls were really tiny. Like I'm big but not that big it's not a good idea for a bigger person or someone who freak out in tight spaces. The dJ had enforce the rules almost after ever song which was pretty annoying. They did not have an pizzas at this location but was offering small box pizzas for $4. But enough about what I didn't like. My 3 month old baby enjoyed the lights. The floor is well kept for being original and they have new carpeting. Not many staff on hand but that's understandable because of COVID. Masks are required when not skating. This is a great place to go to if you want to learn how to skate. My kids have been going to the group lessons on Saturday mornings and the instructors are very knowledgeable and great at teaching them the skills needed. They have also taken individual lessons which has helped them develop tremendously. They love going to skate there in the evenings too. read more

We recently visited The Rollercade with my family for the first time, and our experience was quite disappointing. While my husband was walking to a trash can on the carpet to throw away sticky candy that was stuck to his skate (due to candy being left on the ground), a group of regulars (young girls) came speeding around the corner on the carpet and slammed into him. We should absolutely not be skating carelessly on the carpet where others are walking. They apologized, and my husband politely said "no worries" and continued walking. Later, while he was skating, one of the three little girls came up to him and asked if he had apologized to her friend. My husband was confused and said he wasn't sure what they were talking about, and the girl skated away. Shortly after, another one of the little girls approached him with the same question. He reiterated that he didn't understand what they were talking about. She skated away, and then the referee approached my husband, attempting to remove him from the rink and heavily suggesting that he apologize to the little girl who was injured due to running into him on the carpet. (No one seemed injured.) Despite my husband explaining that he was the one who was crashed into and there were no issues and that he wasn't rude at all, the ref still insisted he apologize because they are regulars (we noticed they had a close relationship with the workers). The ref seemed indifferent and dismissive, saying "whatever" as we decided to leave since we felt we were being harassed. To make matters worse, the girl who was supposedly injured was making comments as my family left, saying "good, they're leaving." This behavior was not only rude but also unacceptable. Regulars or not, everyone should be treated with respect and fairness. I don't know if the situation would've been the same if it was a woman that they crashed into. But what I do know is that if my children were doing something they were not supposed to be doing and got injured for it, I wouldn't be asking the person they crashed into to apologize to them. This creates entitled adults later in life, and I'm sorry, but that's just not how life works. Please don't waste your money on a cliquish establishment. This experience has left a sour taste, and we won't be returning. read more

This is the place to be in SATX. So much fun here. 75$ bucks for entrance and skate rental on a Monday night for. Party of 5. Not a bad deal at all. We stayed for just a little over 3 hours and it it weren't for the swollen knees and ankles we totally would have closed the place out. We are totally getting memberships and they have a skate shop In There where you can buy your own skates.
