Looking at all the options in the Austin area, Space ATX was convenient, affordable, and we just liked the overall vibe. The space itself is deceptively big. The exterior is relatively modern and inviting. The entrance and lobby is a funky, trendy, yet retro. The place is immaculate, and everything looks in order. The staff is helpful and professional You can choose from standard rooms, large rooms, rooms for recording audio or video. The rooms have an hourly and daily rate. The rooms provide solid acoustics, and they keep any unwanted external noise out Some tips: It's a much better deal to go with the daily rate, and honestly, it's incredibly affordable. The large room can be reserved for the day for just over $200. And this reservation goes past midnight into the morning if you need. It's BYOB, so, bring a cooler and drinks. The rooms get a little warm, so, I would consider bringing a fan or two We had a blast getting the band back together, and while we were taking a break outside on one of the benches, we watched so many bands and solo artists funnel in and out, and we thought to ourselves... what if these guys or this person is the next big thing. What if we are? It was exciting, and we had an amazing time Cheers!!

I was impressed with John Pearson when I first met him. He is smart, quick, funny, and interesting…read more But that was before I worked with him! Now, all of the aforementioned applies, with the additions of: talented, efficient, & quite capable...oh and easy to work with...& funny! I recently traveled to Austin, TX to make a record with Mark Hallman @ The Congress House Studios. To be blunt, after working with the esteemed Mark Hallman & amazing Andre Moran, I was skeptical about anyone else at the helm. When Mark suggested that John Pearson step in to record vocals, I silently prayed, Oh God let him be good. Neither God nor John disappointed. Here's why: At the controls, John was quick, clean (not meaning shower clean; I mean his edits, direction & even his jokes were clean.....well & he seemed freshly showered...)! John worked with ease & had the very important factor of humor. I was surprised by his experience & skill. I don't know why, but I always am skeptical about anyone before experiencing their work....I doubt everyone. WELL: John proved to be an EXCELLENT engineer AND producer!!! I would hire him again in an instant. The extra credit benefit is that John is very smart, thus his sense of humor is sharp & swift, Which makes for a fun day! And best yet, the work was light & easy, on point & productive.....we actually finished early!! For me, the quality of the individual you hire is as important as the quality of the work they can do. Hire John Pearson & you will have both.

From the outset, he executed his work with extreme specificity, creativity, patience, and care - definitely the kind of person that values doing something well versus rushing through the details. Fortunately, he's adept at what he does - so, in addition to doing things well, he also does them swiftly. I believe that's called efficiency. John has a very laid back, relaxing presence in the studio that absolutely put me at ease during what I felt was a sort of nerve-wracking process at the start. He is extremely knowledgeable about what he does, the technology and equipment he works with, and the theory and process of sound in general - and is willing and able to explain the finer points in layman's terms, which I appreciated. In addition to his professional merits, John is also just a really cool human and a nice guy to get to know. If you have a chance to work with him, you should take it.

It has magic. You can't ask for much better than this in a studio. Here's why Jason is incredible and why you need to employ him for your recording needs: First, Jason as an engineer is exceptional. He has chops as both a guitarist as well as an engineer. He knows Nuendo inside and out, he knows his mics inside and out, he knows his outboard gear inside and out, and he knows his room inside and out. Guitarists who are finicky about tone need not look any further than him. He'll get you there. Second, he listened to exactly what I wanted before we recorded. I tend to be a fan of very minimally recorded songs. I like to record with no EQ or reverb. I love the idea of mixing with the mics, setting them up to get the optimal sound first. Jason listened very patiently about this aesthetic and helped me achieve it. Third, he works HARD for you. He is a ridiculously hard worker, stopping at nothing to make sure that you are satisfied with what you have. Fourth, he is flexible. Want to record all analog? Jason can do it. Want to do an audiobook? He's got your back. You want to do a drum overdub? He's on it. Want to simply get a piece of music off your phone and onto a professional studio recording system and make it sound badass? Jason is the guy you need to talk to. Want to get your band in there to cut a really great sounding record? Go to ClockRight. I can't say enough about this guy and this studio. You won't walk away disappointed.

But finding the right teacher/mentor was crucial for me since I had no musical skill whatsoever! Then Dave Wirth appeared in my world and all of that changed! Dave is a master musician, with the patience and communication that's unparalleled! Step by step, cord by cord, Dave helped me to understand rhythm, timing and simply feeling the music. Plus his take home study guide will keep you focused and growing daily! Make no mistakes, I still have a tremendous amount to learn, but the desire to keep learning comes from working with Dave. There is simply no one better to learn from! Thanks Brotha!

We had some great music theory discussions and I was very impressed with both his span of knowledge and the range of styles that he was versed in. But the most important thing was that he was able to custom tailor a program for me in which we built on concepts each week resulting in so many "aha" moments! On top of all that he's a great guy! I highly recommend him.
