I really hate leaving bad reviews, but people need to be warned of this company. I rented 2 outdoor heaters for a work party. The party was Thursday, and I inquired about them on Monday of the same week. They were able to get a quote back to me pretty quickly, which I thought "Great, this is going to go smoothly", famous last words. The one thing that really put me off was that once you receive the quote, you have to call the company and get everything scheduled. There isn't any sort of accept button, or complete your order button, I feel like with the technology that we have now a days you should be able to complete an order without having to speak with anyone... but that's just me, I hate talking on the phone. Anyways, I call the number, chat with a guy and he ask's me to send over a picture of my drivers license, so I text that over to him, he says he will create a brand new account for me based off my drivers license. We confirm that drop off will be Thursday @ 3pm and pick up will be Friday @ 9am. I ask him if he's ready for my CC information and he says that he doesn't have the phone that I texted my ID to and he will have to look at that later and create the account, and once the delivery guys are on the way to the destination with the heaters, he will call me and get the CC information for me to pay. okayyyy... that is strange... but okay, whatever. It's Thursday, Day of the party. It's 2:50pm, I text my boss (whose house we are having this party at) and ask him if the heater guys have shown up yet, he says no and I haven't heard from this guy who was supposed to call me so I can pay for the heaters either. I decide to call him myself and lo and behold... The guy who helped me on Monday, never created the account, the guys were not going to be there at their scheduled time (because I'm pretty sure the guy who helped me totally forgot about everything we talked about) and he needed 20 minutes so that he could create the account. Now mind you, I am having to get ready for this party that starts at 6:30, but it's an hour away, so this extra 20 minutes is cutting into my getting ready time... and not to mention, this should have been taken care of long before Thursday afternoon. The heaters finally arrive at 4pm, the guy just drops them off at the front of the drive way, my boss comes out and ask's him to help him take them to the back yard, and the driver says that's not his job. okay cool, that's not your job... well it's not ours either buddy! Once we get the heaters into the backyard, one of the propane tanks is totally empty, and luckily my boss had an extra propane tank to use. I will say, the heaters were great, and they worked perfectly. Next day these heaters are supposed to be picked up @ 9am... guys don't even arrive until 1pm. So, to sum it up, these guys do not stick to your schedule, so be prepared for that. And maybe be prepared for them to forget altogether. Would definitely not use again. read more

I needed to rent a chipper to clear up brush pile that had been built up over 5 years. I called Austin rent way, and John had a chipper delivered to me an hour later. Best part was how the machine performed, 5 years of brush turned into a pile of chips over a weekend! Can't wait to go back for my next home project. read more

I rented a mini skid steer for a front yard landscaping project and couldn't be happier with the whole process. Great, friendly staff. Easy to coordinate the rental. Loaded up the equipment for me and showed me how it works. The machine itself was awesome and saved me TONS of labor. Quick, simple dropoff. And GREAT pricing! Sad to give Kevin even one star. Absolute horrible customer service! I own a landscaping company and always rent equipment. Figured I'd try them out for a job down south, so I rent it for a day. At 4 on my way to return it I had a blow out on 35, get out, nbd right? No. No spare with a rental trailer???? I don't mind paying for the tire, but you don't even have a damn spare on the trailers??? After a huge trip out of the way when I came back to get it later in the morning I pick it up and get pulled over for a railing out and expired trailer registration!!!! I told them do not bill my card for a second day, yet 7 days later Kevin hits my card for a second day. And I bought him a brand new tire! I called and talked to him once, he said he'd look into it. Whose running this store when the manager is away is costing you business. The customer service is very poor and the person answering the phone acts like he doesn't care at all. Due to a bad phone connection supposedly the rep kept banging the phone on the counter, sending a loud noise to my ear. There was very loud noise in the back ground and the rep (Ignacio) kept banging the phone and complaining that he couldn't hear me but he didn't bother moving to a quieter area so that I could be heard. The rep would not give me his name at first and kept acting like he couldn't hear me but I could hear him fine, even more than fine. If I get my way we will use them less and less due to this unkindly behavior. B read more

I've rented many, many times from Austin Rent Way. It's a shame that most people only review a non-restaurant on Yelp if they have a terrible experience. Over the years I've rented Bobcats, trailers, forklifts and pallet jacks. Their prices are a little high and the equipment is sometimes not the newest (to say the least) but they: 1. Always have items in stock without needing a reservation. 2. Pretty helpful about loading equipment and explaining how to use it properly. I needed to use their delivery service for a Bobcat this week. It is $85 delivered and picked up (not including tax). It isn't the cheapest but my delivery was waaayyy outside their 20 mile delivery range and they did not up charge me. I am a loyal customer so I guess that helps. I always call Austin Rent Way before calling similar business like Sunbelt because they seem to have better prices and customer service. read more

This place is a scam they rent out old defective equipment and when it doesn't work you are still charged and responsible for there lemons I speak out of experience had it happen with a plate compactor didn't even get to use the dam thing because it didn't start I originally rented it for a week but it didn't work when I called the rental company they sead bring it back and they will take a look at it Like no ones time and money matter when I asked the rep to bring one out to me he lied and sead there was none available but then he sead he tried the crappie compactor before I took it so therefore I was responsible for it I had one of my guys run the crappie compactor back across town and get me a refund which I only got back part of Then I called sunbelt they'd had a selection of compactors and even delivered right a way read more

I was so excited when I called in search of a scissor lift and talked to Keith. he was helpful, the pricing was competitive, and I committed to rent from them without first checking Yelp - shame on me. So the delivery of the item was supposed to happen at 4pm. Nacho called at 3:30 to say that they will miss their 4:00 delivery time and that they will be there at 5pm. I have zero problem with them being late - and thank you very much for the phone call - awesome! At 5:10 I called them and asked how it was going - and wouldn't you know that they haven't left it - not awesome. So they show up around 5:45, and to make matters worse the lift didn't work and they couldn't get it off the trailer. Yup, they didn't bother testing the equipment before hauling it out to my home. Testing it would have taken 3 minutes - they couldn't be bothered. And the guy they sent out with the cigar hanging out of his mouth wasn't someone that you could tell took little interest in the entire situation. I was told that they would take back to their store, and try swapping parts in the morning - and I would hear back. Of course they didn't call me back, and of course they closed up on Saturday due to weather. I called on Monday and talked to Nacho and he said that he would call me back that afternoon with a status update of the lift (which was presumably at a ship to be repaired - of course he didn't call me back. Nacho doesn't really seem like he cares. he doesn't call me back when he says he is going to, and he has never once said "sorry". I had laborers and an electrician dialed up and ready to work - that didn't happen and yet I had to still pay them for their time. I moved on and rented with another company and won't be back with these foolios. Save yourself the hassle. read more

I rented a trailer from them over the weekend. Had no issue with the trailer, worked fine. They helped hook it up for me. The problem can after i returned the trailer. They kept charging my credit card. $422.88 in extra charges. I called and spoke with them and they said they had no record that it was returned. And there system says it was still out. I was told they'd look into it. I called the next day for an update. Was told it looks like the trailer was still out. I asked for a refund and was told he would have to find out what happened to the trailer. I haven't heard anything in two weeks from Austin Rent Way. Started the process with the CC company to dispute the charges. Too big of a headache. read more

I rented a plate compactor here yesterday. I got it home and had a friend from work come help me unload it. Cranked it up and the handle snaps within 5 seconds of having it running. This could be related to the fact that they use a bobcat to pick the compactors up by the handle to load then in vehicles. Whatever, I'll sort of let that slide because they can't predict when it's going to break. the other problem was that the motor in the compactor ran like absolute crap. after it warmed up, it would just sloooooowly put put along. I know what you're thinking and no, the choke was not on, I know how to run an engine. It ran so poorly that I was only able to get about ten minutes of work out of it in total and ended up hand tamping most of my patio. When I brought this to the attention of the desk person upon returning the equipment, he essentially just ignored me and I got to pay the $75 for a rental of non functioning equipment. It almost felt like they didn't want repeat customers! We rented a bobcat to move some dirt around so naturally it got a little dirt stuck in the tires and because of this I was gouged for a $50 cleaning fee. Never have I ever been charged to clean machinery by any other yard in town. Worse yet they insisted my 2014 tundra 4x4 could not tow the 6k machine "you need a ford f250 or better" belched the grease covered yard attendant lol - my truck has a trailer tow rating of over 10k pounds and I am a very experienced contractor that would not risk my new truck by overloading it. I tow a 20' trailer all day that we own and I even have a brake controller. Basically stay away from this low brow run down fail of a rental yard at all costs. read more

I knew when I was renting my lawn tiller from Austin Rent Way that things could go south. There was a big argument between the renter of a trailer and the owner, Kevin. The renter got a flat and was arguing that the tire was bald and in terrible shape. Rent Austin Rent Way argued, it had air in it when you rented it, thanks for the new tire. However, I threw away caution for the sake of convenience, since I was already there and rented the machine for a day. When my credit card came in I was charged for two days. Kevin refused to credit the scam charge because I could not provide 'proof of return'. Basically, they stole $41.00 from me. Don't use Austin Rent Way. read more

i have never written a negative review before but felt compelled to warn people about this company. Similar to the other reviews of this company i had a horrible experience . I rented a trailer, and had driven the trailer about 20 miles on the interstate when a tire blew out. I was driving next to a tractor -trailer at the time, and the trailer started fishtailing across the interstate. I managed to get the trailer under control without causing an accident, and went to a tire repair company. They pointed out that 3 of the 4 tires were bald to the point that the wire bead was showing through. I called Austin rent way, and they told me to take a picture of the tire, buy anew one and return the trailer. I met with the owner, showed him the bald tires and requested that he reimburse me for the bad tire. He refused, and pointed to the contract that stated I was responsible for the tire. For safety reasons alone DO NOT RENT from these people. They are obviously not maintaining their equipment, and endangering renters and everyone else on the road. read more

We rented a pressure washer and it broke down on us. When I took it back the guy at the counter was extremely rude, mentioned that since I didn't call that I would not get a refund because he said he would have dispatched someone all the way across town two hours round trip to fix it. This is about the fifth time I have had their equipment break down and all the other times the manager was reasonable and fair about it. This guy was a massive jerk and immediately accused me of lying about a $50 rental for my custom home building business. I think you will find that the management at this place acts like thugs and handles issues like this with little regard for the truth. This is the first time I have felt it necessary to post a negative online review about someone. I would never try to cheat someone on a $50 rental and not offering to allow me to have a working machine for another day is unacceptable. read more
