Austin Pro Siding, Windows & Roofing

(136 reviews)

We contacted Austin Pro Siding as part of a comprehensive siding replacement project, as our…read morefiberboard siding was end-of-life and starting to really have problems that would have only gotten worse. Along the way, we also discovered that we needed to have the roof replaced, and so put that in the mix for a bid as well. We contacted six different companies, each of which brought a particular set of strengths and challenges. We chose Austin Pro based on a combination of factors: personalized attention to our project, comprehensive estimate and explanation of each line item, and ability to get the project done on a timeline that worked for us. We chose to have the house re-sided with Hardie Plank, painted with Sherwin-Williams paint, and re-shingled the roof with GAF shingles. It's easy to get overwhelmed by the process of basically re-doing the entire house, especially when insurance companies come into play. To that end, everyone at Austin Pro was first rate. Before we even settled on a contractor, Paul, our project manager, walked me through the intricacies of the process, and spent probably more time than he wanted explaining how things would go, and what options we had. The bid was competitive, and the line-by-line items on the original bid made it easy to see what was going to be done, and what materials were going to be used. He was patient and courteous and flexible, and was also able to speak to us in a way that didn't make things even more confusing. Kevin was the siding project lead, and though we never met in person, I felt comfortable that he had our best interests at heart as he got the crew on site, working fast and efficiently to remove and replace the siding. He even called in the middle of the siding job to tell us that we didn't need something we thought we would, saving us money that we could then use for add-ons we didn't originally budget for. The siding install and siding paint was done beyond our initial expectations, with nice touches like window framing and utility box framing that I didn't even know we needed but now look perfect. We had the back door repainted as well as our front balcony and pillars, and the end result is fantastic. It really was done to the point where it looks like a brand new house, and not one built in the early 1990s. Paul was back on site for the roofing job, and the roofers did a great job removing and replacing the shingles and skylight with new materials, on a roof that is exceptionally steep and challenging. They had the entire project done in only two days, and it looks fantastic. Finally, Garrett came by to do the final walk-through and punch list check-off, and was a real pleasure to interact with. He fulfilled all the items on the list, at least the ones he could do on his own, and did so in a friendly, courteous, and extremely efficient manner. All in all, Austin Pro lived up to their name and to their reputation. It is possible to find a company that can do your big jobs for less, but I am not sure you could find one that could do it better. They stand by their work with a quality assurance guarantee, and while I don't intend to need it, it's great that it's there.

Our project manager, Nate, worked with us extensively to find the right options to fit our vision and budget. He patiently answered all our questions, offered his expertise, and checked in on the progress during and after installation. Both the window and siding crews were courteous and efficient and every last detail was addressed during our final walk through. We are loving the new look along with the temperature and sound regulation benefits! For reference, we also got quotes from Window World (slightly less expensive but not energy efficient certified), Titan Windows and Siding (significantly more expensive), and JP Construction (comparable on almost everything but not quite as proactive on follow up).

Cristian spoke with confidence about his workmanship, quality of his work and the quality of the glass material. During my review process, I had four categories (price, company reputation, warranties, and turn around time to complete) I used to select the company I was going to use. After speaking to Cristian, I added a fifth, glass quality and options. Alpha Glass & Mirrors exceeded my expectations and was selected to do my shower. His price was in the middle of the other companies but his professional, responsiveness, and presentation made a big difference. In the end, I am so grateful for selecting Alpha Glass & Mirror company due to the quality of his work, the mirror quality, how he treated my home, and so many other attributes that made my experience exceptional. Cristian took such pride in his work and paid attention to every detail. I love the towel hook and the clean lines. Beautiful, absolutely beautiful. I would highly recommend using Alpha Glass & Mirror for your projects and I'm confident you will also be pleased. I attached photos before and after. Thank you Cristian for exceeding my difficult expectations.

Window World Austin was BY FAR the most engaged, direct and customer focused. The salesman, Jose, came by for an initial and a follow-up call. Then he came out to measure - this was when his magic shined (as we found out later). He said "our installers are professional and customer service is priority." He offered me two options and gave us just enough info for us to make an informed decision. He said two months AND IT WAS EXACTLY. We got a call from customer rep, Kathy, who just continued the positive experience. Had to work around the holidays on timing and a couple logistic issues but it was not a problem for Kathy. ALWAYS RESPONSIVE. Now time for install. I was told "Bruce and his team (Anthony, Bairon, Juan & Jair) would arrive in a specified timeframe and be on site for two days. The arrived on-time and left the house as promised and clean as a whistle. Also Jose's measurements proved to be SPOT-ON as the windows fit perfectly and as promised. We followed the instructions given us and on arrival Bruce and the team went to work. The team did take over quickly and we admittedly were slow to vacate so their music and back-and-forth did cause us consternation. However, in all my years of home ownership and repairs and renovations I have never had a crew who was so focused on a good job and genuinely enjoyed the task at hand and their coworkers. Great job team! So now the weather is changing, we have 21 new windows, no drafts, clean lines, and clear windows. Thanks again Window World Austin.

We just…read morefinished replacing all 55 of the 30-year old aluminum windows in our home with the very high-quality Window World ones. They are beautiful!! Many of our windows face south. Our breakfast nook and kitchen were made almost unlivable by the amount of heat that our old windows let in. We have had many mid to high 90 degree days since our new windows were installed, and our breakfast nook and kitchen have become our favorite places to be, as our Window World windows keep all that heat out completely. Our entire house stays much cooler now. Braden, our salesperson, was extremely professional and not high pressure at all!! Unlike some sales people, he understands all technical details of the windows, and the process of installing them. He used to be a window installer himself, and it really shows. He took very, very accurate measurements, so all our 55 windows fit perfectly when they arrived. As he looked at every window for the estimate, he explained what would need to happen for each one, such as caulking, masonry, etc. The price for all 55 of our windows was 1/2 the price of the 3 other companies we got quotes from. The quality, and look, of the windows is fantastic! After the installation was complete, Braden came by and looked at each window. He tested them for ease of raising and lowering them, as well as tilting them in and out. We found about 12-15 that were too tight, and he sent a crew over the next day to take care of them. They did a tremendous job of making them absolutely correct. I can't say enough positive things about the crew either. They arrived exactly when they said they would each day. Wes was our foreman, and did a good job of communicating with us on the first day. Bruce was the foreman-on-site of our job (was there every day), and he did a SUPERB job! He answered all the myriad of questions we had in a very professional and friendly manner. It took a 4-5 man crew 3 1/2 days to install all 55 windows. Bruce was very easy to communicate with. All the men on the crew were very friendly and easy to communicate with. Each crew member was very proficient and knew exactly what to do. The men got along very well with each other. It was a very happy crew. In my opinion, a happy crew does a good job. They had large tarps which kept the construction mess away from our carpets and furniture. Even with the tarps, they thoroughly vacuumed all the carpets and wiped down our belongings at the end of each day. They were very respectful and careful with our belongings. We were very impressed that WW's installation inspector came by twice just to be sure that things were being done properly, and to our satisfaction. We are extremely pleased with every aspect of our experience with Window World. It could not have been any better.

However, after our first meeting to discuss the windows and a quote was provided a lot of the skepticism went away. Our concerns were even addressed by the owner Jonathan, by a personal phone call. We could tell both the salesman Ruston as well as the owner were genuine. That meant a lot after many other companies came out to meet and provide quotes. First Choice was able to provide a reasonable, affordable option for better quality windows. They were less costly than so many window companies but able to provide the benefits in windows we were looking for in a great quality. I am really sorry that I can only give this company TWO STARS.. I recently had my master bath…read moreremodeled, converting a six foot sunken tub into a large and luxurious walk in shower. Brandon was quick to respond and gave me a pretty good "guestimate" based on my measurements and specifications which was quite helpful in my comparison and selection of the company to provide my glass shower doors. When the tech came to make exact measurements for the custom sliding doors I explained that I needed the largest opening possible due to my mobility limitations and dependance on a walker. While I currently don't need to use the walker inside the shower I'm aware that could change in the future and I wanted to be prepared for that possibility. He said he understood completely and we planned for a 26 inch stationary panel on the left inside with about a 46 inch sliding panel on the outside which would allow the large opening that I needed. Although the tech said it was usual to place the slider on the inside to prevent leaks, he "thought" it would be okay to place it on the outside as well. I liked the idea of having the larger panel and handle on the outside panel and thought it might make it easier to slide so that was the plan agreed upon. The glass was ordered and installation was estimated at about three weeks off. After a great deal of consideration I was concerned about the possibility of leakage with the slider on the outside so I called Brandon and after some discussion I asked that the placement be reversed with the slider on the inside and the smaller stationary panel on the outside as was more customary. He agreed that it would be no problem to make the change and would probably be a more reliable installation. The big day came and two techs arrived and worked diligently for some time. With the limitation of space involved, I stayed out of their way until they were finished with the job. That was a big mistake! And when I did go to see the shower doors I admired the color of the hardware and how well it matched the Champagne Bronze Delta fixtures, and how nice the clear glass looked in front of my newly built shower. They explained about the optional coating that I had chosen and the importance of using a squeegee after showering, which I had already purchased, and they left. It was a while before I had time to go back and really look at my new shower doors - they looked beautiful and were installed perfectly - EXCEPT - the larger panel was installed on the outside and was STATIONARY! The much smaller panel was installed inside and was the SLIDER! This leaves an opening of 23 inches - even less than the width of the panel due to the placement of the handle - and far from the oversized opening that I had ordered! It's a real falling hazard when I'm going in or out of that extremely small opening. And any possibility that a walker could ever fit through it is totally nonexisten! A less disastrous, but still troublesome situation is that when using the "U" handle on the slider to open the door as one normally would do, fingers get crushed between the handle and the stationary panel and extreme caution is necessary. Something I was unaware of but would not have been a problem if I had stayed with the original plan. And if I had done that, would the door have leaked? I'll never know, but I sure wish I had or at least stood watch while the glass was being installed! When I discovered the error I called and spoke with Stefan who said there was nothing that could be done - basically it was what it was, the company could and/or would do nothing. I had already paid 50% of the cost up front and I just didn't feel up to a battle - especially in court! I am 86+ years old, partially disabled and I can no longer drive. Faced with no apparent alternative, I paid the remaining 50% of the cost. That was probably another big mistake! The glass doors and hardware look wonderful and the mechanics of the installation are excellent and under other circumstances I could recommend GCS Glass and Mirror without reservation, but each time I struggle through that 23 inch opening awkwardly and fearful of falling, I think I'm being very generous with TWO STARS! What do you think?
