This time our project involved popcorn removal, painting, some wood rot repairs and adding electrical outlets. Ramiro, as he and his MTZ Bros. team have done many times for us, now - charged fairly, arrived timely each day and finished as scheduled. Ramiro is professional (with attention to detail), communicative and so easy to work with, we continue to call on him as we plan new projects or need repairs. I do not hesitate to recommend him to neighbors and friends needing construction services. Cindy S. read more

MTZ has done great work for us on many projects, most recently they completed a 200 sq ft studio building for me (a painter). Ramiro's crews did all the work: foundation (piers), framing, sheetrock, insulation, siding and roofing, hvac. All crews were highly skilled and very friendly. Ramiro is an excellent project manager. He is communicative, responsive and knowledgable. If anyone is looking to build an ADU or studio/shed structure in our around Austin, TX, I recommend you give them a call!! read more

Ramiro has done two separate projects for us after water damage we've had. The first was a kitchen pantry which he did a great job on. The second was a much larger job. In 3 consecutive days of working he was able to replace insulation, drywall, then texture and prime, and then paint a entry wall, office, and hallway. His work is exceptional and his team is very punctual and polite. I appreciated that he stays on site and also came out to visit and personally see the home/job before trying to quote over the phone via pictures. They have a very good business and I'd recommend to anyone in Austin needing drywall repair and painting done. He made it look brand new both times at very reasonable rates. Would use again! read more

Ramiro Martinez and his team put a bathroom in what was originally our closet. We have never done any renovations before. So I was a little bit nervous on what to do. Ramiro and his team were very responsive and communication was fantastic. They answered any questions we had. We are happy with how they used the space and love our new bathroom. We wouldn't hesitate to use them in the future and would highly recommend them. read more

Even as I speak, er, type that is, they are outside my window working away. Who knows exactly what they are doing out there but my house looks darn good. Konrad is one of the owners and he has been very nice and easy to contact. The guys working on the house keep everything in the yard neat and clean. They did a great job of prepping with a power wash, hand scrubbing, and some scraping of old caulk. It has looked great since they started and they aren't even done yet. These guys have earned their stars! I am more than happy to recommend them to any of my neighbors. One of my neighbors has already complimented the new exterior paint job. Thanks MTZ! read more

I've had MTZ Brothers work on 3 different projects over the last 9 years. Recently, they painted the entire first floor and did a fantastic job. Previously, they painted the exterior of my home and removed interior wall paper and painted my kitchen. I have always been thoroughly impressed with MTZ's professionalism, attention to detail, high quality work. Ramiro makes sure that he and his staff understand your expectations and ensure your satisfaction before leaving. I can't recommend them highly enough! They remain my painters of choice. read more

We have used MTZ Brothers for 2 large projects for our home, one interior, and recently our exterior. They are amazing, always on-time, clean up at the end of everyday, excellent communication, no surprises, fast, and above all, their work is a level of perfection you just don't find anymore. I can't recommend them enough. read more

Did a fabulous job installing a non-weight bearing wall with electrical, transforming our primary suite. The team was exceptionally responsive as we managed the project from out of town, and worked incredibly hard to achieve a tight deadline (2 weeks from start to finish). Thank you so much MTZ! read more

Guess my job was not good enough for them. Maybe they should add "1000 dollar minimum" to their website. Heres the email I was sent. I mean seriously 1000 minimum?! Jeesh. Guess some other company will get my moo-la. "It looks like your project would fall well under our $1000 minimum. If you have some other areas you would like to add in, I'd be happy to come out and put together an estimate for you, but if it's just the kitchen and living room, you would be better off contacting another painting company. You might try Yelp.com for some good local reviews of painters." THANKS for the advice, it was taken. At least they had the decency of contacting me back. read more

I'm pretty sure my husband is the world's pickiest, most critical guy out there. He hates hiring people to do work on the house, and when we do hire someone, well, their work NEVER meets his standards. He'll even undo all the contractor's work and redo it himself to be sure it gets done right. So when hubby re-sided the last corner of the house this last winter, I cautiously asked if I could call some house painters. He didn't exactly say yes (more like "no, I'm taking care of it"), but I kept at him until he agreed to relinquish his iron fist of command and (gasp) pay somebody ELSE to wash, caulk, and paint. I promised him I would find a good painter who would do a good job. And boy, am I glad I chose MTZ Painting. Konrad was great to work with. The whole crew was awesome. The crew was friendly, careful, and just as picky about quality as my husband. I can't paint without getting it everywhere, so I was sort of expecting a huge mess. But MTZ was amazingly neat and tidy. They wrapped my car in plastic before they sprayed the paint. They even moved a HUGE pot with a HUGE plant to avoid getting paint on it. It must have taken three or four of them to move it. And when they were done, they put it back in exactly the same spot. When they stopped work each day, the crew tidied up--and they carefully closed our "fences" when they left, even though the fences are temporary plastic mesh. That was a level of respect for our property that I have not experienced with any other contractor. Yes, our house looks awesome. The paint looks good, the colors are perfect. But what really matters to me? For the first time in eleven years, my husband gave praise to a contractor! He actually said, "They did a good job. I'm very pleased. No complaints." I nearly fainted when he said that. Thank you, MTZ, for a great experience! read more

My experience was: 1. First and foremost: Fantastic quality of work 2. There was minimal disruption in my home and they work fast 3. They (Konrad and Romero) were flexible with my changes during the process and the changes were fairly priced Highly recommend these guys. read more

Had MTZ paint my 1000sqft single story house with 2 exterior doors and garage. They did a fantastic job and I would hire them again in a heartbeat. Very professional, on time, on budget, and they even powersprayed my driveway which was a nice touch. Cost was very very reasonable for the quality and professional job done. Thanks guys! MTZ brothers performed a wide variety of services of us, such as complete interior painting (all rooms, walls & trim, doors, shelves, closets, beams, fireplace, etc.) and drywall repair from water damage and on the ceiling, among other various drywall repairs needed, removal of a large cabinet & shelving unit, removal of a large built in loft bed, removal of all window treatments, installation of all ceiling fans...the list goes on. MTZ Brothers are an extremely courteous, prompt and fair group of guys. They were also very cognizant of the time frame in which we needed to get work done. They effectively worked around other workers, such as plumbers and flooring installers, without any hiccups whatsoever. They were fair, competent, and extremely friendly. MTZ Brothers are so much more than a simple painting and drywall company. In addition to the multitude of services they performed, they went above and beyond on the "gotchas". For example, in one area of our home, we found that a pipe had been improperly installed and stuck out from the wall too far, which would have resulted in the wall slanting up slightly from the floor, or we would have had to pay a plumber a lot of money to drill into the concrete under the carpet and move the pipe. Instead, MTZ built a shelf-type wall around the pipe, which looks perfect. You'd never have have known there was ever anything else there. They offered creative solutions to a variety of other problems they encountered along the way (we bought an older home with a few challenges). Additionally, when MTZ finished the job, they threw in a couple of extras, that we did not pay for, such as painting our entry-way and removing a massive awning from the outside of our home (not an easy undertaking). I highly recommend these guys, and I will use them in the future for any job I've got that they can handle. read more

I'll just reinforce what others have said, these guys communicate well and do excellent work. I called MTZ and they came out and provided a reasonable quote to completely drywall/paint my 2 car garage/mancave. I called 3 other contractors (even one from the ol' phone book) but just didn't get a good feeling from the others and the project sat while I watched DIY drywall videos and dragged my feet. Fast forward 6 months.. I decide to attempt the job - after putting up 2 sheets, kinda crooked at that, I decided this was going to be a major PITA. I called up MTZ and they squeezed in the work right away over 5 days - it was 100% worth it and the garage turned out great. read more

We hired MTZ to power wash, repair & paint the exterior of our house & they did such a fantastic job! Ramiro was on top of the job from day one. He & his guys worked so quickly & didn't stop working until the job was done exactly how we wanted it. From start to finish, it only took MTZ 4 days to complete the job. They even power-washed & began repairs on our house in the pouring rain, which i did not expect. All the guys worked in a very clean, expert manner & we had no issues with them whatsoever. Ramiro worked with us to make sure everything was exactly how we wanted it, frequently saying, "We can paint it that color & if you don't like it, we'll fix it. No problem." As a homeowner who is spending their hard-earned money (on something you'd rather not have to spend your money on), that's exactly what you want to be told. And he meant it. We will absolutely keep MTZ Brothers' number on hand for any other home improvement projects we just don't feel comfortable tackling. read more

One word: Excellent! We are remodeling our home and of all our 6+ contractors, MTZ is a shining star. Ramiro has been so patient, professional, fast, communicative and generally just helpful. He always calls, texts or emails me back and has even helped me with a few other non drywall things that have come up. His team re-textured our entire house and are repairing drywall but our home has remained clean! They aren't afraid of working late to get the job done and listen to what I want with a willingness to make sure I am happy. Last, but not least, MTZ was one of the most affordable and fast contractors I found. read more

I obtained several bids for painting the exterior of my home and the interior of my garage. MTZ's cost was very reasonable and I was immediately impressed by Konrad who came to my home to give me MTZ's bid. The work at my house also included replacing rotted cedar fascia at several locations and a couple of places with siding that needed a slight facelift. Konrad's communication was SUPERB throughout the job. The crew showed up when they were supposed to and took great care to prepare all areas for painting and the woood/siding repairs were well done. I was constantly asked if I was satisfied with their work and I was. By the time they finished painting I didn't even need to do a final inspection of their work. Their cleanup was perfect and their work outstanding. I would not hesitate to use these folks again or to give them my highest recommendation. Five stars all the way. These guys are well rated wherever you check....here, Citysearch, Angie's List etc. and they are worthy of their 5 star ratings. read more

Ramiro and the whole MTZ team are fantastic. Their prices are fair, they always show up on time, and Ramiro is highly responsive via text throughout the project. They just finished their second job for us, which included wallpaper removal in most of the house, texture, fresh paint in the whole house, new baseboards and casings around all the doors, painting our kitchen cabinets, moving and widening an interior passage door (including installing a new header), installing bathroom vanities, and more. I had a different plumber and electrician do some work on the project, but those guys ended up screwing up a few things...which Ramiro's team was able to fix quickly to help us get moved in on time. Next time I will use MTZ first for everything and not even bother with other sub-contractors. Highly recommend! read more

I have used MTZ Brothers on three separate occasions for work on my home. First in 2013 in preparation to get the house ready for sale and then we decided to stay. That job involved drywall work and interior painting with some popcorn removal in the garage. Next in 2018 to support a complete house remodel where they did most of the demolition and later drywall, popcorn removal, trim carpentry, exterior siding replacement and trim with Hardie, interior and exterior paint. And again in 2020 where they replaced all of the fascia with Hardie trim and painted the entire exterior prior to a roofing replacement. I enjoy working with Ramiro and the guys in his crew. I can depend on them and their work. read more

These guys are the BEST! I have used Yellow Pages, the BBB, Craigslist, even recommendations from neighbors and have had one disaster after another with poor quality work and dishonest painting contractors. So I asked Ramiro of MTZ Brothers to give me a quote after seeing a 5 Star Yelp entry for 2013. They did some deferred maintenance work, cabinet staining and both interior and exterior painting on my home. It was a big job, they did everything I asked for and more! Unlike every other painter I have used, they did extra work when they saw something that needed attention and included small touches that were needed to do a 100% professional job. My experience was totally opposite to another Yelp user as far as communication. They were here as promised and I always received a message from Ramiro if they were running a tiny bit late. It is simple, common courtesy to make a quick call and it makes good business sense, but I have never had such good customer service from a contractor. MTZ used a professional crew of 3-5 on my job, so I can see why they cannot take on a small job that is better suited to a one man, Craigslist painter. The crew was VERY neat and helpful. Several were actually family members of Ramiro. We are so pleased I could go on and on, but I will end with a STRONG recommendation that you call MTZ if you want a high quality painting job, a fair price and world class customer service. read more

MTZ Brothers provided a very competitive quote for drywall and painting work for one of my rental properties. Thankfully, I used "Yelp" ratings to identify superior providers and that is exactly what these guys are. Fast, efficient, great craftsmanship, at a competitive price. They even cleaned up the work site...now how many people do that? NONE. On top of that, they provide excellent communication scheduling the work with an accurate estimate of completion. Highly professional. Cannot say enough good things about these guys. Give them a chance to quote your job. You will be glad you did. read more

We had MTZ Brothers perform a significant amount of work on our new home last summer. This included: - removing popcorn from all of the ceilings, replacing with a smooth texture and painting - raising ceilings in the kitchen and a bathroom, installing new drywall, texturing and painting - retexturing the walls in two bathrooms and painting - repainting three other rooms Communication with Ramiro was good from start to finish. This was important since there were many work items to complete, and coordination with other contractors (carpenter, plumber, electrician) was necessary. As might be expected from a job of this size, some issues arose. However, Ramiro provided good solutions in each case. Overall, we were very satisfied with the results: the quality of the workmanship, including attention to detail, was very high, the job was completed on schedule, and the cost was reasonable. Shortly after this work was completed, another contractor caused damage to the ceiling drywall in the dining room. Ramiro was able to fit repairing this damage into his schedule with very short notice. Afterwards, no trace of the damage was apparent. I highly recommend MTZ Brothers for your drywall and paint needs. read more

Do you hate calling contractors? I sure do. They rarely return my initial calls, are missing several aspects of professionalism or act like they have better things to do. This time I lucked out. I found MTZ Painting & Drywall on Angie's List where they were highly rated and saw that they were based in my neighborhood. Given my past experiences, I thought that would at least get them to call me back since they wouldn't have to travel far for work. So I rang up the number and, get this-- a polite human answered the phone. I didn't have to leave a message only to have it ignored. I was beyond thrilled and off to a good start. But wait--it only gets better. Konrad, the project manager, proceeded to talk to me about the interior and exterior work I needed done. We made an appointment for him to come over and take a look around the house for that **same day**. Not the next week. Not some vague arrival time frame. The dude showed up when he said he would. On a white horse, I think it was. He was my knight in paint-spattered clothing. He took a look around the inside and said "Yes, we can do this." Took a look around the outside and said something to the effect of "Yes, we can make your crack house look all shiny again." I signed on and his crew showed up the following Monday and stayed for three days. They were very respectful of our home, taking great care to do the important prep work and cleaning up after they were done. Communication was key the whole way through the process. I was never left hanging. I am so happy with the work they've done that I keep driving by my house twice on the way home. Oh wait, is this MY beautiful house?! Need some painting or drywall work done at your house? Give them a call and ask for The Dude. Or Konrad...for short. read more

I had a very positive experience with MTZ. Konrad was very professional and easy to work with. He arrived on time for the estimate and provided a detailed invoice. I would definitely use them again. read more

After we had our foundation worked on in our mid-century house, several sizable cracks appeared, so we decided to get them all fixed in one fell swoop. We got one quote from a drywall specialist that seemed pretty high, and he wasn't particularly clear about what exactly his price would cover. So we called MTZ Brothers Painting and Drywall and talked to Konrad. He came over to see the house the day after we called him, and said that they could definitely fix the cracks. He also offered to paint the patches and/or repaint a couple of rooms, for a combined price that was extremely reasonable. We agreed, and Konrad scheduled three people, also partners in the company from what I could understand, to come and work starting Monday. Each day the team, led by Romero, came in at 8am and carefully covered all the furniture in plastic and moved big pieces out of the way so that they could work on the cracks. They worked for a total of two and a half days, and each night they would leave the work areas extremely clean and organized. Romero and Konrad were both very easy to talk to and answered all of our many questions about color, drywall, etc. The team did a phenomenal job fixing the cracks and applying texture, and we honestly can't see where the cracks were anymore. The paint job was also excellent, and they were very nice about matching colors that we already had, and then getting paint in the new colors we had selected (paint was included in the price for the work). After they finished, they left the house cleaner than it was before they started, and we are delighted with the final results. Bottom line: go with MTZ Brothers Painting and Drywall! They are awesome. read more

MTZ Painting and Drywall just painted the entire interior of our home. They were so nice, professional, and reasonably priced. I couldn't believe how fast they were and there wasn't even a spot of paint splattered anywhere. They fixed a few spots in a room I had tried to pain myself, as just a nice bonus. Nothing was broken and they made very good suggestions. Konrad was prompt and helpful, and he called back to make sure I was happy with the work and didn't need any touch ups. They went above and beyond my expectations and I can't recommend them enough. In fact, a few friends that have seen our place have asked me to send them contact information! read more

Konrad the Project Manager was very nice and professional. The interior painting quote was emailed to me by end of day and it was very fair and reasonable. MTZ took on a large project that included floating heavy drywall texture to an almost perfectly smooth finish (level 4) and painting. MTZ Brothers painted the interior of my house and did some drywall repairs before I moved in two years ago. The guy they have who does the bidding and communicates with customers was great and very responsive. The drywall work they did was good. They matched texture well and their repairs have held up. Now for the bad. Their communication between the guy who does the bidding and the painters was disasterously disappointing. I'd asked them to paint the trim in the house, but just the front of the cabinet doors and not the interiors of the kitchen cabinets in an effort to save money. The crew that sanded and prepared the surfaces for painting did well, sanding both sides of the house's interior doors and only the outsides of the kitchen cabinets. The painters, however, failed to understand their instructions, and only painted one side of all the interior doors in the house, leaving the other side sanded but not painted. They painted the outsides of the kitchen cabinets as instructed, but then decided to paint the interiors of the cabinets when the interiors were painted in glossy oil-based paint and had not been prepped for painting. The result is that my interior doors are only painted on one side and the interiors of my kitchen cabinets are covered in peeling paint that flakes off onto any dish or glass I store in them. Since these problems were not immediately apparent when the crew finished--the unpainted side of the interior doors is the one that faces the wall when the door is open so I didn't notice right away and the cabinet paint did not start peeling until we had moved in-- I paid the tab without knowing that the work was sub-par. I live every day disappointed and frustrated by MTZ's work on my project. read more

Performed all our own drywall cuts after flood damage and needed someone to mount, tape, float, and texture (appx 2' high @ 180' linear). Called for a quote, and a young man arrived on a Saturday (excellent). He was very courteous, professional, took notes, and willingly answered all of our questions. He said that they also could do polished concrete floors, which we were interested in since the carpet was obviously lost. It was a week before Christmas, so we didn't expect anything until after. However, we received no follow up - no emails, no phone calls, no responses at all. We contacted them again between Christmas and New Year, but no one answered the phone or responded to email. I would have been fine with a "we're not interested" message, but their lack of communication is unacceptable. Two stars, only because the individual who came on site was polite and professional. Otherwise, a significant waste of our time. I do not recommend at all if you want responsiveness on a smaller project. read more

Just call Konrad. Best experience I have ever had with a service.

I had to fire a previous contractor due to incompetence and needed a new company to come finish the job they started asap. MTZ brother's came to give me a quote within a few hours of contacting them. They are very professional and polite and easy to communicate with. They re-taped and floated 1000 sqft of ceiling drywall after I had the popcorn removed, gave us a new beautiful rolled-on texture, and painted the ceilings and living room walls. They worked with me some on the price to fit my budget and they did amazing work! Their prep work is great too and kept my house very clean despite all the dust that results from drywall work. They even re-painted 2 walls after I saw the color I originally picked out was too bright. They were also able to start quickly and finished the job in 3 days. I talked to and got quotes from almost every drywall company on yelp and angies and found so many of them to have horrible customer service or way too expensive quotes.
