We purchased a spec home less than 2 weeks ago and the first thing that had to go was the original finish on the kitchen cabinets. When J&N Handyman Services removed our popcorn ceilings and retextured them a year ago, their workmanship was shocking... and I don't mean that in a good way! We were literally embarrassed by the state of our home. Knowing that having the ceilings REDONE was going to be a huge job, we put it off for a year, and only invited people over for dark evenings, Literally. It was that bad. Enter Austin's Paint Guys. To restore our ceilings, these fine folks had to skim coat every square inch of ceiling, sand it, retexture it, and put 2-3 coats of paint on it. When other companies wanted to come into our home, get the job done in a few days, and displace our family in the process, Austin's Paint Guys patiently worked with us to create a plan with 4 phases. This way, we could live in our house while the work was being done, always having access to a place to sleep and a bathroom to use. Though the job took more days to complete, these guys were 100% willing to work with our family. Austin's Paint Guys respected our property. When we expressed concern that our concrete flooring may be scratched or damaged during work, these folks used various floor protection coverings (thin boards, Ram Board, etc.) and literally built a barrier to keep our floors safe. When it was time to inspect each room after the work was done, we took note of details that needed to be remedied. These folks refused any sort of payment until the job was COMPLETE and to our satisfaction. Like Santa Claus had come, I left the house in the morning, and returned mid-afternoon to find that every detail had been addressed. Additionally, details that weren't even part of the job, but made our home look nicer, were also taken care of. For example, when some ol' popcorn was still a bit visible above our 1980s golden wood panelling, Jason caulked it himself to our liking. He also crafted a piece of wood trim to hide a similar popcorn peeking area above one of our kitchen cabinets. Again, these folks did not have to do that, but they respected our home enough to see more than ceilings. To us, this job was about more than ceilings. This was about restoring a house that had been done wrong. My son said it best - he said, "You know mom? This finally feels like our home." I agree, buddy. read more

Very, very pleased! Austin's Paint Guys were wonderful. Ray came in originally for an initial feel of the layout and scope of the job in order to provide an estimate. Their estimate was certainly on the lower end of the quotes we received but no other company actually came by to look around, which felt nice. All others were a flat $$/ sq ft. of the house, which may be more standard but feels easier and less personal. Our house was 1,750 sq ft. with every inch covered in popcorn ceilings. Well, it WAS!! We were able to easily schedule a time for the work to start and, since I work from home, they were very open to staging to house so we could still use it. The stages allowed my wife and I to still have a room and bathroom to sleep, etc. My office was able to be done on a day I was to be off anyways instead of on some rigid schedule, which was also very nice. In addition to the popcorn ceilings, when Ray came by for the initial pre-estimate walk through he noticed our older, almost office-building type fluorescent lights in both the kitchen and laundry. He said if I wanted we could get those updated to recessed can lights and he would add them to the quote but no pressure either way.if we said yes, he would get them done at the same time by certified electricians and, if we said no, that's totally cool too. I was impressed the 'no pressure' aspect - I didn't feel like I as getting "sold" on something. Boy, am I glad he suggested that. After all of the popcorn ceilings were removed, re-textured [light orange-peel], repainted the shade of white of our choosing, AND the new can lights installed in our kitchen and laundry, it is like we have a brand new home. The house is so much brighter and aesthetically pleasing. With the update from the fluorescent lights to the recessed can lights, our house looks so new and modern [What a simple upgrade, right?]. Just remember, if you get your popcorn ceilings removed and you have things in your house, do as much as you can to move things out or protect them. The nature of scraping the texture off and spraying it clean makes dust. go. EVERYWHERE. This is not a negative review of APG just the cold, hard, truth. Dust is everywhere and no matter how much you clean up you will clean a little more. Had we done it all over again my wife and I would have had them come out before we moved our stuff in. BUT, APG cleaned and cleaned and vacuumed and made everything look great before they left. Just don't expect their to not still be dust that may need wiping down or vacuuming here and there. We would recommend you either have or try and find the paint used for each room / wall in the house. During the scraping, although every precaution can be taken, small scratches or tears in the paint can and will happen. The painters actively asked me where our paint was so if this did happen, they could touch up anything THEMSELVES. They did not try to hide these minor nicks and scratches or leave it to me to paint over. They were extremely professional and took pride in leaving knowing they did a good job and I was happy. Also, ASK QUESTIONS. Be a proactive consumer and ask a million questions. I did and Jason answered every single one of them. I imagine he'd never been asked so many questions by one person but guess what, I was not surprised by anything because he was open and answered them all. We would certainly use Austin's Paint Guys again and wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone. read more

Ray and Balente are AWESOME! Ray returned my phone call for an estimate very quickly. I told him of the scope of the work and he sent a guy out (Balente) the very next day. He did all the work, made it look PERFECT and the estimate was exactly true. White he was out Balente noticed another bit that needed some more touch up and so i called Ray for an added quote. the price was fair and made sense to have it done at the same time. Ray Sipple is great. He did a cabinet staining for me in the summer and after I had my floor done this spring he repainted my trim and put in my quarter round for a gap that I had since I went from carpet to stained concrete. All of his work looks great. His team does a great job and for a reasonable price and he is trust worthy. Quick story when I had my cabinets stained from light oak color to a dark java color. His guys put the first coat on and checked to make sure we like it before they put the second coat on because the cabinets were wood and the product we decided to go to was really dark they just wanted to show us that the wood-look may go away with the second coat. We are so happy they took the time to make sure we were getting what we wanted. Ray's team is very attention to detail when it comes not only doing the job but they clean up VERY WELL. It was tough letting someone in my home while I was not there since I am from out of town but Austin's Paint Guys are a team you can trust. read more

Highly recommended. I've had Ray and Jason paint cabinets for us on a couple jobs when we needed something a little different for a specific customer. They did fantastic work. I've also referred them to numerous customers that have needed various forms of painting. Everything from cabinets, to interior painting, to ceilings to outdoor painting. They even did garage floors for a couple customers. I've never heard anything but praise from my customers. They are know their business and communicate well. If you need painting, give them a shot. If I could, I would not even give them one star. We made appointment which was from 5-6 in the evening and they ended up showing up at 4 and was very rude to my son. I then called them to tell them I was 2 minutes away (my son told me they had just left) and they never answered their cell phone or returned my call. We had Austin's Paint Guys back out to our house to repair a damaged ceiling and wall after a drain leak. They did such a good job on the ceiling, we could not tell where the original damage was. Very prompt and efficient! The three men who painted our interior have over 25 years combined experience painting. It was obvious from day one, they knew what they were doing! They estimated a 4 day job, finished in 2 and half days. They removed the blinds and covered or moved all furniture carefully. Nothing was damaged or dripped on. The floors were completely covered as were the baseboards. The sign of a pro was when they removed the light fixture ceiling mounts instead of just taping them off. We were very happy with the job Austin's Paint Guys did on our recent interior painting project. They painted two coats in four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a study, and a large walk-in closet (some rooms with 11' ceilings), so it was a decent-sized job. Even so, they completed the work in two days without rushing or long hours. Jason was personable and easy to work with during the estimate process & he did multiple in-person follow-ups during & after the job. His crew was hard-working and careful. This company did pretty well on sheet rock repair but the painting was sloppy and incomplete. They were messy as they thought it would be okay to scape off the popcorn ceiling and leave the damp, stinky material on the floor. We cleaned it after we were sneezing from the dust and smell. They did not even cover all the trim with paint or prep the surfaces. If you use these guys, be sure you really check for quality as you go. They offered to come back again to fix things but we decided we could do it ourselves. read more
