Austin Proper Hotel is a cute spot to grab some really expensive cocktails. I joined a girlfriend for drinks and people-watching at the lobby bar (aka, The Quill Room). We had some G&Ts; really good - looked beautiful. The cocktails range from $20 to $40. Ya heard right. They have a $40 margarita. I've dined at The Peacock before and absolutely LOVED their brunch. The blueberry & semolina pancakes are a must. Looking forward to staying at the hotel one day!

Underwhelming for the price. We decided to come for a family trip and we were disappointed by the pool area. No hot tub. Very small and not for kids. If we had known this wasn't a family-friendly hotel, we would've stayed elsewhere. The rooms are fine, but the bathroom counters are tiny. We had to pull the ironing board out to add extra space for our things. Also, there are no ice machines. Very odd. We had to ask for ice at the restaurant, but who wants to go downstairs when you're in your room already and comfortable? We ate at the peacock inside the hotel and the food was a bit overpriced and overcooked not to mention they automatically add a fee which was vague. After looking it up, it was a fee to pay staff-maybe pay your staff better and not work it into your patrons bills on top of hotel room plus tons of other various taxes/fees. I had always thought this place was beautiful and wanted to stay, but this visit has satisfied my curiosity and made me grateful for my other usual stays at JW or Westin. New towels from bathroom had black hairs :(

This was our second visit to the restaurant, and it was just as perfect as the first. We shared a couple of dishes today, and everything was excellent--but what really stood out was the service from our waiter, Chris. From the moment he approached our table, Chris was warm, friendly, and genuinely thoughtful. He handled all of our requests with ease and had a perfect sense of timing--always attentive without being intrusive. I also want to highlight the positive energy from Manager Kaylee. I let her know directly how much we've enjoyed our visits, and it's clear that her management style has a positive impact on both the staff and the overall guest experience. The welcoming atmosphere here truly reflects great leadership.

Gorgeous, different, classy, hip, smells great, beautiful, lighting, and decor. In addition, you can tell a lot about a hotel by the hand soap they have in the restrooms in this place features Aesop

Pulling up to valet we were not impressed. It's missing curb appeal. The greeting was a tad subpar but they were friendly. We grabbed our own luggage which was very doable however we were not asked if they could help get it out of the car for us. Upon entering we were very happy with the air being in full blast as it was 96 degrees outside. *** Things were really stepped up when we were greeted by Oscar at the front desk. He was so pleasant, knowledgeable and very cheerful. Explained everything and was the only one who offered us a water. My coworker checking in with the other gentleman although professional and nice did not offer water. The place is kept nice and clean and the restaurant packs in a good crowd. Overall the service was good.

Where do I begin? Our stay here was absolutely exceptional! If you're just skimming, here are the highlights: 1. The staff were consistently friendly and courteous. 2. Every restaurant on the property was outstanding, we tried them all! 3. Goldie's sunken bar is a true hidden gem. 4. The hotel's design is stunning, inside and out. 5. The pool was spacious and the poolside bar was a great bonus. 6. The gym was well-equipped and roomy. 7. Our room was large, quiet, and immaculate. 8. The common areas were inviting and perfect for relaxing with a drink or coffee. 9. The hotel's location is great, walking distance to several restaurants and Trader Joe's. 10. The Domain shopping area is just a short drive away (about 10 miles). Now for the details: My husband and I stayed here for six days to celebrate my birthday and enjoy a bit of relaxation before I started law school. From the moment we arrived, the service exceeded our expectations. Valet staff promptly took care of our car and bags, and check-in took just a couple of minutes. The front desk team was incredibly helpful in answering our many questions about the hotel and its amenities. We stayed in the Grand Room King with a pool view on the 11th floor. The room was not only spacious and beautifully maintained, but also wonderfully quiet throughout our stay. It truly felt like a serene escape. What really stood out was the staff, everyone from management to valet, housekeeping, restaurant servers, bartenders, spa attendants, and pool staff made us feel welcome and appreciated. Every interaction was positive and genuine. We spent time at every restaurant and bar on the property and loved each one. Every space had its own unique vibe and thoughtful design. Goldie's was a favorite of mine. Kevin, Ernan, Randi, and Jasmine went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic experience. The drinks were phenomenal, and the atmosphere was relaxing and fun. At the pool, we had a cabana (though we spent more time swimming than lounging), and again, the service was top-tier. A special shout-out to Fedor, Justin, and Makayla for their attentive and friendly service. Dining at The Peacock and La Piscina was another highlight. The Peacock, in particular, had some really creative dishes and beautiful decor, I often found myself admiring the attention to detail between bites. Tyler provided excellent service and had great recommendations. The hotel does get lively on weekends, especially in the bars and restaurants, but it never felt disruptive. Access to guest-only areas like the rooms and pool is well-managed, so our stay remained peaceful even when the public spaces were buzzing with activity. Overall, our stay couldn't have been more perfect. It was a wonderful way to celebrate my birthday and decompress before diving into the rigors of law school. Thank you Anis and Giulio for helping make it so memorable!

This eating is only for the bar. It can be very packed on the weekends and incredibly hard to get a drink and walk around. I do wish they limited entrance more or had a more efficient way for ordering. Overall though, it's a great bar for girls or date night.

My partner and I just visited this hotel for 3 nights from Los Angeles. We are very accustomed to luxury stays, and love spending our money on nice accomodations when we get away. This hotel is designed and decorated beautifully. The lobby is stunning, as are the restaurants, bars, and rooms. The staff is friendly and always willing/able to assist. The fitness center, pool, and spa are also great things to mention. If ever visiting Austin again, we will definitely be back.

The is worst proper location in terms of service in the whole Proper family which is really unfortunate. I had several issues with my stay. I waited over 3 hours for my room service and still wasn't able to have my food cooked at the temperature requested. The managers there while nice, don't connect with each other so I had to consistently tell the same story over and over. When I decided to eat at the restaurants, service was slow both at La piscina and at Peacock. I went to Peacock for breakfast and while the restaurant was very empty, it was just slow. I had to get up and go to the kitchen to get some ketchup for my potatoes because the server never came back to check that we had everything we needed. At La Piscina I ordered tacos and they were SO oily it was really disturbing. While they eventually took the food off of my bill the experience itself was just horrible. If I go to and pay for a luxury hotel I Mac expecting a luxury experience. I booked this stay for work so they had two cards on file and then charged the wrong card when it was all said and done. When I pointed it out to them , they said they'd fix it and send me a folio. I went to my event and a few hours later went back to the hotel since I hadn't received my folio. I called the hotel 5 times but no one answered so instead of going to the airport I had to go back to the hotel to understand what was going on. They finally printed me my folio and told me they would email. To this day I have yet to receive the emailed folio. This place is not a luxury hotel and hotel doesn't run at the proper standard or a bonvoy standard. It is really unfortunate because the layout alone is beautiful but that's about the only thing beautiful here. There are so many other places to stay, I'd never return to the Austin Proper.

We also dined at Nido, the hotel's restaurant, for both dinner and breakfast, and it was definitely a highlight. Located on the topmost floor, Nido offers stunning views of the river and downtown Austin. With both indoor and outdoor seating, the ambiance is elegant and ideal for a special evening. During our visit, we saw a couple of groups celebrating birthdays and wedding anniversaries, which shows how perfect this place is for special occasions. The pricing is on the higher side, but it matches the upscale experience and beautiful setting. For dinner, we ordered the Burrata as an appetizer and the Autumn Garden for the main course, along with an American IPA and a Jack Frost cocktail. Everything was delicious, but the Burrata truly stood out as my favorite. Breakfast was equally enjoyable--we had custom-made omelettes with veggies and avocado toast, both fresh and flavorful. Overall, The Loren Hotel, along with Nido, offers a great blend of comfort, excellent food, and a beautiful atmosphere. A perfect choice if you're looking to celebrate something special or simply treat yourself to a high-end experience.

The Friday night gathering was amazing. It was a perfect setting on the eight floor to talk, mingle, and meet new people. The evening was warm enough to go outside on the balcony/deck and have conversations and enjoy a breeze. The room itself is large with a water station and a bar. A few short tables were set up for sitting and a few tall ones for standing. They had a nice selection of drinks from beer and wine to mixed drinks. The food included lobster rolls, sliders (chicken and beef), a tray of different veggies and dips, little balls of cheese and something, and aroncini? My favorite was canapés of Mellon and prosciutto. The saltiness of the prosciutto added to the flavor of the melon. This event was 5***** I blame the architect for the room setup. Why would you put bedrooms on the side of a hotel next to traffic. The noise, honking and sirens. It finally quieted down around 11:30. Saturday was also an issue. They do provide ear plugs and sound machines, neither works for me. I was also surprised there was no lotion in the room. There was no microwave. Everything else in the room was top notch. Robes, slippers, a safe, a bar, and fridge. Overall, the noise is what created the 3*** rating. That was very disappointing.

While I mostly kept to the hotel, when I did venture out, I found that there were lots of great dining options within walking distance. If this stay were not reimbursed, I would have removed a star considering rooms average $500 a night and reliable internet access is expected. Two queen beds were comfy and plenty of towels. Our first night's stay was decent. I noticed the shower gel holder was falling out of the wall. A precarious situation of having to carefully pull the mechanism to dispense without pulling too hard. I did notify the night staff but the next day, it didn't seem like anyone came to fix it. No extra body wash or soap was provided even when I asked for some. The wall with the en-suite appliances was not usable. The plugs weren't working so we couldn't toast anything, use the kettle, or the coffee machine. The fridge and microwave were working ok though. The rod for one of the curtains fell off while opening them. Because it's floor to ceiling we just left it alone. The common spaces are well decorated, from the Library, Executive board room, kids corner, gym/yoga studio, and outdoor lounge space. Although the snack/tea/coffee spot with Keurig isn't filled often. We had to ask for the night staff to refill the water for tea. On our second to last day, I found the hot water and still water station downstairs at Simona's. Pros: Clean, comfy, affordable stay. Enjoyed the bottomless coffee and their signature breakfast at Tiffany's latte. Also appreciated them letting us do late checkout and upgrade our room. Cons: Complimentary water station, Keurig / snack station, maintenance of amenities could be better handled. Warning: If booking from 3rd party (BILT, Capital One Portal...) added parking is not the same price that's on Colton's House's website. It's actually $40/day (with in/out priceless). However if booking directly through Colton House, parking is 50% off for $20. Would we stay here again in the future? Most likely not.
