What a lovely hotel! Great bed, even greater shower...the two things you care about in a hotel room, right? Nice pool, cookies in the lobby every afternoon, nice location. One downside was that our room was kind of dark, but maybe a balcony room upgrade would be different. Staff all great, helpful with neighborhood tips. The restaurant Group Therapy was nice, Jocelyn was the best, fun to talk to. Half off wine bottles on Monday! I'd absolutely stay here again. read more

Mix of good and bad on recent stay. The room is nice. We appreciated the treats in the lobby table in the afternoon. But maybe don't rent out your feature amenities to private events? Chose to come here during my recent business trip to connect with daughter in the area for school. Chose this place because of amenities only to find at check in it was closed for an event. During the week. Staff was unapologetic and basically said they relocated it to the lobby and the "food was the same." That's not the point. "Bold bites and stunning views" the website says. Very nice hotel in downtown Austin. It has earned its Michelin One-Key rating - the décor was fabulous and the restaurant, gym and meeting rooms at the conference I was attending were top notch. My issue was with my suite. While good in many ways - comfy and clean with plenty of storage and a safe - it lacked a desk where I could work, having only a small round glass table in the living room. Next time I'll make sure to ask for a room that's more suitable for business travel. read more

We stayed at Zaza for a gal pal staycation, and we had a great time. The hotel, which I've wanted to check out since they opened but then somehow forgot about over the years, was a lot bigger than what I heard from others. Decor, amenities (pool, gym, spa services, biz center), and room were all great. My biggest shoutout has to go to the valet crew. We didn't spend a dime on RideShares for three nights because the hotel offers free transport within a 3 mile radius (first come, first serve). Tips are encouraged. The lobby staff was great too. Total bummers: :: No water refill stations. They do bring glass water bottles for turndown service and have plastic (ugh) mini water bottles in the gym, but a refill station is needed, especially in this Texas heat when we are all so parched. :: The pool service. For a Michelin-rated hotel and with food/drink prices where they're at, the service (or lack thereof) and quality of food/drinks was a disappointment. Having to get up for multiple drink and food orders, fixing our umbrellas, and then tipping out more than 15% when they didn't even do the bare minimum... Not a fan of that. (And we were there on a Thursday and Friday summer afternoon; it's pool season.) :: 10th floor hallway carpet needs major shampooing - the entire floor smells like urine. :/ read more

My Suzie had a legendary birthday and we wanted to celebrate by chillin downtown in style. Hotel Zaza was recommended to us by our awesome travel agent from Departure Lounge, Ginger Nelson. She was able to secure the Sea Side suite. One of the Magnificent 7 suites located on the 12th floor. Upon arrival, the check in was swift and pleasant. The lobby was so well appointed with art and cool furniture which set the tone of our visit. The bellman welcomed us with a smile and took care of our luggage and whip. Complimented some of my shirts which were transported on the bell cart to our rooms. The agent that checked us in let us know of some of the perks we had coming and let us know of the amenities of the hotel. Provided us with a couple of cold waters for the journey to our room. They had accommodated an early check in, so we dropped in around 1pm. Great start to the wonderful weekend. Upon entering our room, Suz was smitten. 1000 Sq Ft, never looked so good. Theme of the the seaside was everywhere. The place was huge. Our view of the city was brilliant and a little balcony where we could sit and toast the sunset beckoned us. In a separate room there was a huge, fluffy soft king bed for our evening beddy byes. Crisp clean inviting sheets and perfect pillows. There was plenty of places to put our clothes, a little safe and everything was clean and bright. Bathroom was spacious with all the stuff we needed. There were nice big TV's which we were able to link to our phones for our streaming channels. The room was quiet and inviting every time we came back from our outdoor shenanigans. The only small miss was the door between the living/bedroom was coming off it's hinge. That's just being very picky. All the staff we encountered from the maids, bell hops, front of reception staff were excellent. Having the availability to be driven around in the Hotel Car, think slick black big ol burban here, was an extra treat. Made one feel very VIP. Will we be back.. absolutely. read more

Cool spot, huge rooms, and really friendly staff made our stay great at Zaza! Other amenities were turndown service with a small snack, nice gym, and car service within 3 miles of the hotel. We enjoyed our anniversary celebration here at Hotel ZaZa. (We were surprised that no one mentioned our anniversary, even though we put it in the reservation notes). Easy check-in and we were luckily able to get into our room prior to official check-in time. Great central location downtown, where we could walk to many of our destinations or grab an Uber or a Waymo. What was a great surprise was the hotel's car service that can take you and pick you up within a 3-mile radius. It's first come, first served and you should definitely tip your driver. We didn't ever ask them to pick us up, but they gave us a business card with a number to call if we had wanted it. Great amenity! We enjoyed some time by the nice pool and made use of the gym, which is small but was hardly ever used by others, so it was never a problem. The rooms are good-sized and the bathrooms are very large, though a lot of the space is wasted. More plugs, another mirror, and a door to close off the commode would make the bathroom perfect! Some glitches getting housekeeping done at times, but both housekeeping and turn down service provide glass bottles of water, which is nice. The windows are also pretty thick and soundproof, which helped us get a good night's sleep before our flight, even though parties were going in full swing just downstairs in some of the bars nearby. I'd definitely consider staying here again if I'm in Austin. read more

The lobby smells like bergamot, cashmere, and quiet money. Not the loud, try-hard kind of luxury; more like someone very rich and very tasteful decided the air itself should feel expensive. The floral installation this week was white gardenias and pale pink hellebores spilling from ceiling-height urns restrained, almost shy. I loved it immediately. Check-in took ninety seconds. Ninety. We were very excited to stay at this hotel, however, it did not live up to the promises made regarding the amenity fee that is automatically charged. We were supposed to receive nightly turn down service and got one bottle of water and two mini "moon pies" one of the three nights we were there. That was it. The "Butler Pantry" in the morning is kind of a joke. The decaf coffee was cold and the regular coffee was empty one of the three mornings. The Biscoff biscuits and apples were inadequate to qualify as anything other than a nice gesture. The restaurant was closed one of the nights for a "private party" and booked the next night, so we were not able to dine there (we were busy the third night). The accommodations were nice and the shower was great, but not worth the price we paid. We had to call room service for ice, so that was kind of a pain, but they were very quick in bringing it, so not a big deal. I would not stay here in the future. read more

Amazing ambiance and Felicia gave us great customer service when my son left behind some items at the delicious restaurant group therapy - they were already turned into the front desk and held for us - I am thankful. Also they sent a receipt we needed view email which I appreciate . The artwork is impeccable in taste. The food at the restaurant is great and the valet were very kind and speedy ! Plus they were kid friendly for being upscale despite not having kids crayons or menu items was fine - the fries were really good! The chicken was fantastic! Definitely recommend the braised ribs! I specifically chose Hotel ZaZa Austin because I was looking forward to enjoying their pool and food--the menu on their website looked like it would work well for my family (some of whom have fairly limited palates). Unfortunately, when we arrived today, we found out the menu had been completely changed. None of the updates were reflected on the website, which was a disappointment since it was the main reason we planned our day around coming here. When I asked about it, the response from our waitress wasn't helpful--in fact, it came off a bit snarky, which only made the experience more frustrating. For a high-end, boutique hotel brand, I expect something as simple and basic as keeping the restaurant menu updated online. Updating a website menu is neither expensive nor time-consuming--certainly far less effort than it takes guests to rearrange their plans after arriving to find completely different options than advertised. Moving forward, I hope Hotel ZaZa takes this feedback seriously and keeps its menu current. They certainly update their room rates without any issue, so the same level of care should apply to the dining experience as well. read more

Hotel Zaza feels like an upscale boutique hotel. We stayed in a corner King suite and we were extremely satisfied with our room. Compared to other hotels we've stayed in the area, Hotel Zaza felt the cleanest and most spacious out of all of them. They offer a first come first serve lift to anywhere within a 3 mile radius of the hotel, honestly - what other hotel have you been to that offers that for free? Foe the price this hotel had big rooms, an enormous bathroom, and a decent location. They have some nice extras like a turndown service where they leave a moon pie, and apparently they offer a glass of rose when you check in. However, as I checked in around 730 pm and was chatting with the clerk, who asked if I had stayed here before (I had not), she didn't tell me about either, or the snacks in the lobby in the evening. She did tell me about the butler pantry in the morning by the elevator where you can get coffee and tea from 6 to 10 am. That is a nice perk but there is no tea or coffee in the room and so you have to go out disheveled in the morning if you want coffee or tea. They offered almond milk, oat milk, or half and half. The rooms have a fully stocked minibar at minibar prices (no room Foe leftovers) and snacks in the room (not free). They had 2 robes, OSFA (but probably not if you are larger bodies) and slippers. Ice has to be ordered from room service as they don't have machines. From a single female traveller position, it was nice to have the keycard keyed to the floor in the elevator. However, that might be a pain if you had friends on multiple floors. The fitness center was nice and the pool looked nice but it was too cold to swim. All in all it was a fine stay but could have been better if I had known about all the amenities. read more

The room was clean. The butler pantry was a nice feature and I enjoyed my workout at the gym. There are a few nice restaurants in the area, which is nice. I walked to one for dinner and then called Zaza so a driver could pick me up as it was a bit dark for me to walk back alone. Stone (the driver) was friendly and shared his stories of working at each Zaza (Austin, Dallas, Houston) and highly recommended I visit the one in the Houston museum district. The great experiences stopped after I checked out. I checked out around 830am and by the time I made it home that same evening, I received fraudulent charges on my credit card for items in the minibar I did not consume. I called the following day and spoke to a lady named Justine. She told me it was an error and that all charges would be removed. She then sent a folio via email. The folio shows a charge for a KitKat/M&M from the minibar. I did not touch the snack area and can't even consume those type of snacks anymore. Per the folio, the charge was added, removed, then added again. I called again a week later as the charge was still on my credit card. I called and Justine picked up the phone again. I explained the situation all over again. She says she thinks she knows who made the charge to my room but did not elaborate further. The charge has since been removed. I checked out on June 2nd. Since that time I received four late evening phone calls from Zaza drivers asking if I requested a ride. Someone told me they'd get to the bottom of it, so weird. I continued to get calls until June 15th, nearly two weeks after I left the hotel. I'm not sure what happened or who was spoofing my number but it was odd and annoying to say the least. Hotel itself was great but the strange phone calls and charges after checkout make me question staying here on my next trip to Austin. read more

We were charged over $900 for one night at the hotel despite having a less than optimal experience. I spoke to the manager Olympia and she could care less. I was told this hotel has recently been purchased by a larger chain so beware of what you're getting now. On a positive note, the complimentary car service and drivers are fantastic. We really enjoyed some of the staff, but this visit has left a horrible impression and we will never be back. So disappointing. read more

I had the pleasure of staying at Hotel ZaZa for a work conference and I couldn't have been more pleased. As soon as you enter you are greeted by friendly hotel staff and a pleasant scent that makes you feel energized. There are multiple bars and an amazing secluded pool on the 7th floor. The rooms are decorated nicely and are very spacious. I went to dinner nearby and when I returned to my room, I was surprised to see a turn down service was done. They lit a candle, left moon pies, and even had a container of water on the bedside stand. The little details are what separate ZaZa from others. The only negative I have is the area where the hotel is located is quite busy with nightlife. Some of the bars can be heard from your room, or at least the room I was in. If you've been to the original Hotel Zaza in Dallas, adjust your expectations. The quirky, individualized style of the original hotel -- a truly boutique hotel experience with just a few floors of rooms plus some standalone bungalows -- doesn't translate to a 24-story urban building. Everything here feels like they were trying to retain the Zaza quirkiness but in an affordable, mass-produced way. The rooms don't have a ton of character aside from featuring some slightly offbeat art. The halls have pencil drawings of celebrities...why? I have to revel in the fact that I'm the first Yelp reviewer to discuss the gym, because it has the most hilarious piece of gym equipment I've ever seen...one of those Japanese horse-riding machines that jiggles you around. You better believe I hopped on briefly and tried it, and it was worth the laughs. See photo.... The gym is right next to the pool and the cabana bar, which looked really nice and definitely worth checking out. We were too busy to ever make it up there for an afternoon of lounging and drinking, but it was totally abandoned on a weekday midday and would have been really relaxing and nice. Plus, the bartenders looked like they needed to make a drink for someone. I would volunteer. There's also a swanky restaurant next to the pool area that looked worth checking out. The bed was comfortable, and I lovvved their king-size, just-the-right-amount-of-squishy pillows. Blackout curtains were much appreciated. The shower had incredible water pressure. Our (mid-week) stay was quiet, and the staff were all friendly and helpful. The one day we requested housekeeping services, we even got turn-down service with chocolates on the bed. Oh, and the location is fantastic. Walking distance to Roosevelt Room, Floppy Disk Repair, Garage, Here Nor There, Veracruz All Natural...and more, I'm sure. This is my 3rd time staying here 1st time writting a review.. wanted to do a staycation for new years ..my room had a Balcony so the view was perfect for me it felt like i was apart of the celebration down on the street for new years, i got to see the fireworks from my balcony awesome!!! .. they had a cute complementary new years set up for each room. I appreciated that! The room service food was good! I try just about everything lol.. & they didnt take long . Ps if you going to add the zaza package with free parking ,40 drink credit , 50 breafast make sure u use it the night before u check out they dont mention it how that works in details .. one of the down side for me was the bar downstairs at "group threpy " close wayy ealier then the time posted i was upset with resposne from the bartender the for exmaple if the bar close at 12 the bartender had everything done by 11:30! I went down for a drink and he said he had his draw close already im looking at the time and i ask him what time they close all he said was i already close my draw. I felt he wasnt trying to be accommodated at all i told him i just wanted a drink to go add it to the room all He sayin is i close my draw already and it wasnt evevning 12! . Other then that the hotel Is truly relaxing and comfortable, & the food is good! Some parts of the hotel Service might be a little rude! I get it's hard to find good help! I always get excited when a new hotel opens in Austin. I already heard great things about this place and as I walked up I saw two identical Aston Martins parked in the covered parking valet. I forgot to ask if these vehicles were part of the hotel to give guests a lift to a destination. This is considered a luxury hotel and would not be surprised if they were. The whole staff was attentive as we walked inside feeling very welcomed. The lobby was decorated elegantly for the holidays and had a nice lounge area. There was also an entrance to their Perfect Strangers bar, but what blew me away was the luscious decor of the hotel with artwork all over the place. It was immaculate and not just the floor level but the floors above. The bar had a cool vibe and definitely a must visit. The staff let us explore the place as we went up to see the pool. Once the elevator doors opened I felt I was in an art gallery with framed photos of celebrities on the walls. On this floor will found a restaurant with bar called Group Therapy. It is also adjacent to the outdoor pool. This pool was top notch and once again the decor around it had a calm relax appearance with some shade an a spectacular downtown skyline view. The restrooms up here were impressive too. We spent a lot of time exploring and looking at the photos and made our way back down to the lobby. The staff took our photo in front of the Christmas tree and were on our way. If you did not know there is a hotel competition in Austin where you can't just be "Keeping up with the Joneses" but be the Joneses and Hotel ZaZa just took that title. read more

This place is unique and has character. Worth a visit instead of the boring, vanilla hotels that are across Texas and United States.

I need a better vocabulary to be able to accurately describe this place. Being from out of town we had no clue that this location had literally opened about a week before we visited but wow are the staff members among the most welcoming people I've ever met. I didn't personally stay here (and our whole group was kicking ourselves for not having booked here!) but we were drawn in by the pretty rooftop umbrellas and started our visit at the pool bar. The pool is absolutely beautiful (we didn't go to the pool, it is blocked off and only available for hotel guests as it should be) and it has a good sized bar next to it where anyone can visit. We decided to order a bottle of champagne, enjoy the view and play a round of Jenga (they have several games in a bucket by the bar). The bartenders were insanely friendly and we felt so welcome from that first experience. On the way out, we stopped to chat with some of the front desk employees and were offered glasses of rose wine and some other type of amazing non alc beverage that tasted like melted sherbet. All of the staff in the lobby area were insanely friendly as well. Everywhere we went in the hotel was absolutely beautiful, every person we encountered was friendly, we even spoke to the construction crew (they are finishing a restaurant on the property) and one of the members personally escorted us to the elevator for the rooftop bar. I will 100% be staying here in the near future -- now to find flights to Austin! read more

The service at this hotel is impeccable. William at the front desk is what true customer service is, at a nice hotel like this. The manager was not so nice, Casey could be nicer, but William surely made up for it! He provided us with a list of places to go, and told us to use his name to help us get into places with special treatment. This hotel is beautiful, it has a great sense of style, and fantastic customer service. We ordered room service every day and we loved our food. At the pool when ordering, do not order POKE, I gave it a chance at both locations, not the strongest dish, however, the pizza is fantastic, it tastes like they make their own bread and sauce- impressive. Cookies are provided mid afternoon, juice and water (although I don't eat sweets) all my girlfriends were staying at the hotel with me, they loved this feature! They also appreciated the consideration of the fresh coffee in the elevator lobby of our floor in the mornings, and the moon pies which were given to us in the late afternoons! Thank you Hotel Zaza, you made my bachelorette very special! I also enjoy your Dallas location, each hotel is special in their own way. The only thing I wish, is that the Austin location had a DJ like the one in Dallas. I love the Hotel Zaza in Dallas for this reason. When I come to Texas (Im from Los Angeles) I only stay at Hotel Zaza :)! The owner of these hotels is doing a great job, bravo, my hat is off to you. Hotel Zaza competes with my favorite boutique hotel in Los Angeles. If I lived in Texas I would definitely take staycations at Hotel Zaza, that's how much I enjoy this hotel! read more
