I was in town for a recent work trip and Hyatt Centric Austin was the designated spot for our team. I thought the hotel choice was great overall. The location couldn't have been any more perfect. It was close enough to local bars and restaurants, especially the ones on 6th Street, but far enough to be away from noise and riff raff. The hospitality at the hotel was commendable. The valet staff members always greeted me and opened the door for me, and the front desk receptionists were equally as friendly and helpful. I got to use their gym a couple of times, which was one of the nicest hotel gyms I've seen. The equipment was well maintained, and I was surprised to find they had a rower. That was a major plus for me as I'm currently training for a competition. That said, the gym did not have air conditioning. Felt really warm in there. Was hoping the treads had the built in fan but didn't. My room was great. I had a comfortable two-night stay with restful sleep. I liked the modern design and functional choices of furniture, which made the room feel spacious. Only complaint was that both sconces next to the bed did not work, so I did not have the best in-bed reading light. read more

I liked the location of the hotel, the views, and the amenities. There are two restaurants on site, a fitness center, and a beautiful deck (which was undergoing renovations). The reason why it's not five stars: 1. I was given two rooms and both of them could use more cleaning. That was not a coincidence anymore. 2. Parking is very hard, even to drop off your luggage. Street parking nearby is usually taken too - you almost have to find multilevel parking first, then walk with your luggage. Other than that, I enjoyed my stay. Ambiance The hotel is nice and feels fairly new or recently updated. The lobby is modern and clean, and the aesthetic definitely fits Austin's downtown vibe. That said... the rooms are tiny. Like, shuffle-sideways-to-get-around-the-bed tiny. The layout is honestly awkward. When you walk into the room, you're basically walking straight into the bathroom/sink area. I don't love that setup it feels strange and a little gross having the sink situation right at the entrance. And let's talk about space. The desk and chair are positioned so close to the bed that you will bump into them every single time you walk by unless you maneuver your body in a very specific way. It's giving obstacle course. Not ideal when you're just trying to exist peacefully in your room. Also, the air/heating system is extremely loud. Every time it kicked on, it sounded like it was preparing for liftoff. Not ideal when you're trying to sleep or relax. Staff The staff were pleasant and professional. No complaints there. Check-in was smooth, and everyone I interacted with was kind and helpful. Service wasn't over-the-top luxury, but it was efficient and courteous. Gym Now... we need to talk about this gym. For a hotel this large, the fitness center is way too small. Over the past three days, multiple people have walked in hoping to use a treadmill and there simply aren't enough. There are three treadmills, but one is broken... and there's no sign on it. So people hop on, press start, and then realize it doesn't work. That's frustrating and easily avoidable. They also only have one mat for floor workouts and it's raggedy. Like visibly worn out. For a property of this size, they need at least five new mats and a better equipment setup. It feels like an afterthought instead of an amenity. Price The rates are fairly reasonable compared to hotels of similar quality in downtown Austin. For the location, you're not being completely robbed which I appreciate. But for the price point, I do expect better room layout functionality and a more equipped gym. Overall: nice hotel, good location, decent pricing... but with some design and amenity misses that keep it from being great. read more

Everything was so insanely close to each other it was hard to not bump into your significant other going to and from the bathroom etc. i definitely would never want to stay here again. I was very happy with my stay at Hyatt Centric. The hotel is located in downtown Austin, a few blocks south of the State Capitol building. There's a pretty good rooftop bar on the 8th floor and the gym is pretty good. The front desk was very accommodating and responsive. The room was clean and very functional; the mattress was medium firm, tho I prefer a more firm mattress. There is ample coffee and a "rain" shower, plus my view on the 28th floor was facing north and included the impressive capitol, from floor to ceiling and very captivating. My minor complaints are that the elevator on average took literally 5 minutes to arrive, sometimes longer, and the a/c was clanky and buzzed whenever it turned on. read more

The room was just ok for 4 start. As I was looking at the pictures from the hotel they must have given me the smallest room for $280. The bed was not very comfortable, I am guess I am use to memory foam not the traditional spring. The cold air blows straight into your face as you lay in the bed. Horrible. In the morning, the noise from other doors openings was way too loud. Mind you there are only 3 of them near by. The coffee machine was super dirty with calcium deposits. Key factor of my dislike of this hotel among this other issues was upon check in l requested a high floor and was told I could only get my room on the 10th when there are 30 floors or more. Now I book this through my American Express card, I am Hyatt member and in the past they have always been very accommodating. For the price they charge I would not recommend this hotel. The previous nights I stayed with views of the river and downtown in a high rise with a 1 bed condo for less. With beautiful decor a fully stocked kitchen, a balcony and a comfortable bed. read more

The Hyatt Centric Austin Downtown offers a mixed experience with notable strengths and some areas that could use improvement. Exceptional Staff: From the valet and doormen to the front desk (Carolynn) , dining staff, and housekeeping team, the hospitality was top-notch. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and made the stay feel welcoming. The overall upkeep of the common areas and the room (except for the ceiling) was commendable. Daisy was pretty helpful with the checkout process and definitely heard me out about my complaints as well. The room size felt rather compact, and the setup could have benefited from a more minimalist approach to make it feel less cramped. The bathroom/sink/vanity area, however, stood out with a modern and sharp design. Unfortunately, the ceiling in my room was in poor condition, appearing unfinished and in need of attention--this detracted from the overall room experience. I had breakfast one morning, but it didn't quite meet expectations. While the dining team was hospitable, the food quality left room for improvement. The gym was decent but underwhelming considering the property's status. A more comprehensive setup would elevate the experience. A bit of a complaint: On the second night of my stay, there was a party or event with loud music that continued until at least 1 AM, which caused significant disturbance. Soundproofing or better event coordination could help address this issue in the future. When i checked about it at the front desk i was told that there was either a music gathering or some sort of party/celebration that went on for quite a bit into the wee hours. Definitely caused some disturbance. The Hyatt Centric Austin Downtown has its strengths, particularly in its excellent staff and clean, sharp design elements in some areas. However, the small room size, unfinished ceiling (i wouldn't take it for a vibe/design as it looked bad and missing some decent amount of finishing) , average gym ( i definitely expected more) , and disturbance from late-night events detracted from the experience. It has potential but would benefit from addressing these areas to provide a more seamless stay for its guests. read more

I had an early flight out of Austin so I decided to stay downtown the night before and what a wonderful place! Check-in was super easy and seamless. As you walk in, valet is to your immediate right and the front desk is directly in front of the doors. Valet took no time to check in and then the smiles that greeted me made up for the drive in from San Antonio. The hotel itself is eccentric, vibrant and colorful. The sleek designs are stunning and playful. Beautiful art pieces are all throughout the hotel and in the rooms. The designers for the hotel knew how to pull in young and more mature guests with the choices of furniture and decor. I didn't get a chance to eat at the restaurant so I can't make any recommendations but the hotel is centrally located to so many options in walking distance! Arriving late, my waters and espresso coffees were waiting for me in the room already :). Restaurants deliver if you'd rather stay in for the night. I'm definitely keeping this location in my bag and plan to be back to spend more time there! read more

One of the best hotel experiences, especially when it comes to staff. From the doorman to the housekeepers, everyone was always super nice and friendly. The hotel provides free water and free coffee, something that's pretty rare these days. The room was always properly stocked every day. Some rooms are indeed smaller than others (we ended up upgrading for a few bucks), but even the smaller ones are clean and good for its purpose if you're on a tighter budget. The beds were very comfortable. I'm not sure why some reviews mention the "unfinished ceiling", it's actually designed that way, with a modern concrete finish that gives it a stylish, urban look. If you're looking for a comfortable stay with great staff and a perfect location, this place is an excellent choice. read more

Love this hotel in the heart of Austin! Has a cool Manhattan/Soho urban vide. We had a corner room on 21st floor with floor to ceiling windows on two sides with view of the UT Tower and the Texas State Capitol Dome. Book the corner rooms!! Fabulous views on the higher floors. A very fun outdoor patio bar on the 8th floor has great drinks and panoramic views of downtown Austin. Valet was a little pricey but that is to be expected in downtown. Age at The Tradition restaurant on the 1st floor and it was fabulous. Great hotel with smaller rooms but sooo worth the location and the views! We will be back! read more

Rate 3.5 First time staying here. It's a great location. If you're going to be out and about and less time in the room this would be a great place to stay. But if you need a refrigerator or computer access, none are available here. They have a cooler ( for drinks ) in the room but it's not cold enough for food. For my stay I needed to work on my laptop and sought a computer to access when my laptop was acting up. I also purchased food to consume later and discovered that they can refrigerate your food but you have to list it, sign you agree and they store your food??!! I don't like that idea. So I requested ice ( which they deliver) to chill my food since there is no personal access. So my stay here was a bit tough. But I must say, the rooms are nice and comfortable. read more

Great hotel! Located just blocks from the Texas Capitol with lots of fun things nearby to do and see. The rooms were meticulously clean, and the beds were absolutely heavenly. All the staff and service here were kind and helpful: A+ hospitality! Loved the rooftop bistro that offers stunning skyline views of the city...perfect place to grab a drink and unwind. One word of caution: elevator service here is limited. There are only four carriages in this 30-story building, so if you're in a hurry, make sure you plan extra time to wait for a lift down. I can honestly say this was the worst hotel stay I have ever experienced. I stayed at Hyatt Centric Congress Avenue Austin and had my brand-new Dior bag and iPhone stolen from inside my car by their valet staff. Both items were hidden and only the valet would have had access. What made it worse was how the hotel handled it -- or rather, didn't handle it at all. I reported it immediately, and not a single person offered to help or show any concern. Management ignored me completely, as if what happened was my fault. I left feeling disgusted, unsafe, and heartbroken. I trusted this hotel with my personal property, and they completely failed me. Please do not use their valet or stay here. What happened to me was unacceptable and unforgivable. read more

I stayed on the 25th floor February 25 with the checkout day of February 27, 2025. I appreciate it how the rooms were updated and Daisy gave me very good customer service. She was absolutely wonderful thorough and professional at her job. The kitchen by the lobby was very nice as well because I received good service from Rachel and from Paul when I told them I didn't like the Caesar salad because it had too much vinegar in it and it didn't taste like a true Caesar salad. They helped me by replacing it with truffle Parmesan and they didn't give me any attitude and they were very accommodating. I would recommend the burger begin to use cheddar cheese instead of American cheese. Other than that, it was very good. read more

From check-in to check-out, hospitality, cleanliness, the room, everything was top notch. I stayed four nights and did not experience a single negative. The staff is attentive and friendly, the room is absolutely beautiful with a modern touch, and everything is well kept and clean. I had the "do not disturb sign" on the door my first day there because I was not in need of any housekeeping attention, and the housekeeping manager sent me a text to confirm if I needed any items replenished. I really appreciated the care behind that. The rooftop bar is also great with a chill environment. The bartenders treat you as if you've met before and the food is delicious. Only reason the hotel wasn't one star instead of two is the location and great staff. Valets, front desk and housekeeping were friendly, helpful and professional. The hotel is perfect if you're into dorm room style complete with concrete walls, stained and worn carpet and rooms the size of postage stamps. There is no lobby, just a sad little space inside the front door. The sink is in the room, first thing you see on entering. There is six inches (not an exaggeration, I measured) between one side of the bed and a chair and table and no closet, just three hangers on a bar. Valet parking is dangerous - on a busy street and often there were other cars waiting and hard for a passenger to get out safely. We booked here based on previous stays at Hyatt Centric hotels but this one is not up to Hyatt Centric standards at all. read more

I had the pleasure of staying at the Hyatt Centric Austin when my best friend that is a flight attendant had a layover in Austin and she was staying at this beautiful hotel. The service is the experience that I'm sharing. I had removed a ring and placed on the nightstand which was left to me by my husband's grandmother, Nonna. A simple gold band with her name and her husbands name engraved on the inside of the band. We were very close and the ring is very sentimental. The next day at work, I looked down on my hand and a feel of dread came over me when I realized I had left my ring at the hotel! I was sick to my stomach as I figured it was long gone. I called the hotel and spoke to a gentleman that connected me with their security department. I spoke with Dominique and she asked some details about the ring. After confirming, she shared that the housekeepers had found the ring and turned it in. I was absolutely thrilled!! I went down and met with Dominique and retrieved my ring. Thanks to the character and honesty of their team I have this very special ring back on my finger and I am truly grateful! I also wanted to highlight the valet attendants, Jabari and Rabbi, very personable and friendly. They are the first representatives of the Centric and they are doing an outstanding job! I look forward to staying at this hip boutique hotel in the future! read more

Let me start by saying that the staff was great; from the valets, to the front desk, to the bartenders, and wait staff; all very helpful. Location was great because we attended a premiere at the Paramount Theater next door. Lots of great restaurants in the area and we had a great view to the capital on the 25th floor. After a two night stay, I can say those positives were a mere consolation to our negative. Like another reviewer expressed, and a couple who also stayed there at the same time, the rooms we had were small; too small. A real estate agent would put a positive spin on it and call it quaint or cozy, but it was frustrating. I have an RV and I see where the designers did their best to cram as many things together in a small space, like an RV. No room for any desk or any real drawer space, only small drawers under a bench seat. An open style (use the word "style" loosely) closet type of framework to store hanging clothes and unreachable shelves on top. Staying with someone in our non suite King size bed room was a challenge, at best. Not to take away from the great service, provided by the staff, but I would've opted for the comfort of a bigger room; more than our's provided. read more

Checked in and staff was pleasant. Got to my room and was kept awake till 2 AM by a night club right below my room. TV didn't work, and maintenance no showed me to repair it. Tried to grab a coffee on my way out and was COMPLETELY ignored by the staff to the point I gave up and left. Mentioned it to the desk staff who said "sorry" and then did nothing. Valet parking was the only option (which was $60) , during check in front desk receptionist had let us know the breakfast buffet was complimentary which was not the case , paid $80 for 3 bagels . Not for families Pros- central location, safe and clean Cons- room layout, A/C, no microwave, $50 daily valet is only parking option We stated here over the traditional Hilton or Holiday Inn type hotel because my husband got a deep discount from work travel points, etc. That made it worth it for us. But if we had it to do over again, we'd stay somewhere else. The layout of the room is wonky and cramped. It's like a big square that has a wall running down the middle, separating 2/3 of the space where the beds are from the 1/3 that is the bathroom- literally. The bathroom is not a separate room. So at the foot of the beds is maybe four feet, then the wall separating the bathroom from the beds that has two doorways on either extreme that lead into either end of the "bathroom." This is a galley-style with the toilet and shower each against that center wall, and enclosed in their own shower-stall. The main door to the room opens up into this bathroom/galley area, so there is a shower curtain to pull across for privacy in case someone opens the main door, with the opposite end being the window wall to outside. If you get up to pee at night, you have two options: pee in the dark, or turn on the bathroom lights. Since the bathroom openish concept w the room itself, this means the bedroom gets halfway illuminated, too. This also means that the room gets super humid and stuffy from the shower- and the air conditioning is a whole show. It's loud and cuts on and off, and there are two options: suffocate or freeze. There aren't any closets or dressers, so I haven't found any blankets other than the down duvet on the bed. So we are opting for the Arctic blast while sleeping under a million-degree duvet. No iron, no place to hang or set suitcases, no microwave. Industrial chic, artsy modern decor- but they forgot this is a hotel where people are traveling and need a place to put their stuff besides the floor, and a place to put and heat food. No iron, ironing board, but I just found a steamer, so that works. This was our first and last time, unless my husband gets points again and our stay is free or close to it! read more

staff accused me of smoking in the room on Labor Day when I wasn't even there. I had to Uber because they kicked me out, they were hostile and immedi called security who escorted me to the room and out and even he said it didn't smell like weed and it's because I didn't even smoke weed in the room! they charger my card $700 for one night and put a WOC out on the street with no remorse the GM there a lady said I wasn't of standards to the hotel. seems very racist and classist and I don't support what austin is becoming. the staff needs a meeting on deescalation and discrimination. I got half the $700 back but they still owed me the smoking fee bc they agreed it wasn't my room. which they didn't give back I had to call HQ and they approved it. read more
