These people are freaking ass holes I swear they towed my car without no notice. I been freaking living here a long time and they decide to do their bs. This place is, simply put, a hellhole. Sure, I wasn't happy about being towed but what actually makes me upset is when a towing company sits on site, watches patrons blithely leave their cars and then pounces on them the moment they're out of sight. That's what this particular company does at Buzzmill. Don't park in the walgreens lot because even though it's unmarked, it's apparently a towing lot. That sucks. What also sucks is arriving at a terrifying run down lot and building with an attendant who says creepy stuff to you. I was so thankful that my friend stuck around because that guy gave me the shivers with his weird compliments. I've made my living in the vehicle repair business. I've met many tow truck drivers, both good and bad. You know what I've never seen? September 23rd. 3pm. A tow truck driver taking up two lanes, with their towed vehicle at a 45 degree angle, going 45 mph down Lamar. Did I mention that his magnetic brake lights were inoperative? I'm realistic in thinking that more than likely no tow company has more than a couple stars in their review. Yet, I would hope none engage a few dozen people's lives. Last night I delivered an item sold on Craigslist to a South Austin apartment complex. It took less than 2 minutes to drop off. As I was walking down the stairs one of their drivers pulled up to my vehicle to begin tow. I ran and started yelling for him to stop. He crookedly lifted my vehicle anyway. In the video attached (that you may need to download) is audio and visual evidence of the amount of time that I had been there, he doesn't deny that he herd me yelling as he was backing up to the vehicle, that he states that he could still take my vehicle as a threat and most importantly him receiving money from me for a drop fee when my vehicle was not completely hooked up(no chains or lights attached). I am so grateful to this company. They responded quickly to my call to help my son stranded on I 35 with a blown out tire. Definitely a scam. There were no towing signs near where I parked my car. They tell at you to quickly sign the waiver without reading it. When I told him I was going to read it line by line before signing, he started yelling at me. Rambled on about respect and being old enough to be my father. I continued to reiterate that I read anything before I sign and he threatened to call the cops. I was worried he had a gun, as the towing company is in a seedy area. They took the credit card and drivers license for a long while and you cannot see what they're doing behind the glass. I parked my car in a handy cap parking spot next to a business that was closed. There was a sign saying employees only and they needed a pass to park there and had an arrow pointing at the spot over. This company is wrongfully towing cars. I had parked in a shopping center on Oltorf to take my dog to the vet at 9:00am on a weekday. At the time that I parked there was absolutely no sign indicating that there was any sort of restriction on the particular space of this lot that I parked in. I was out of the appointment by 9:30am and found that Austin Express Towing had SCOTCH TAPED A SIGN TO THE WALL and booted my car (9:24am). Whilst arguing with the tow-man, a Cricket Wireless employee pulled up and parked in the spot directly next to me, also of which was restricted to only customers per the hastily adhered addition. She proceeded to advise that she was an exception to this stated policy as she was an employee of Cricket Wireless (contradicting that stated on th adhered addition). However, she refused to give me her name (shocker), but she drove an older gold Honda sedan (pictures of car available if needed by manager). The tow-man then extorted me for $100 cash (the only accepted method of payment). I later called Austin Express Towing to request his name as he failed to provide it or a signature on the immobilization notice or receipt of payment, and was advised that "they can't find it." This entire altercation occurred before the store's operating hours even began (10am). I was in the process of being towed and tried to flag the TOW driver down to OFFER to pay a DROP FEE and even with me honking at him and waving at him be refused to stop with in my apartment complex and only stopped when he got out of the complex and on to a regular street. Then when I got out of my husband car and started to walk to the driver door of the tow truck he took off practically peeling off on me. The tow yard was dirty, the Drivers are rude and I would recommend that if you ever find out they are the tow company or the parking lot your parking in BECAREFUL you will end up getting screwed over. Scum of the earth. Went to DPS on South Congress to replace lost drivers license and the lot was full. I drove around and every parking lot was full, except for one that was 95% vacant. So I parked there in the farthest corner so as not to disturb any of this gun/pawn shop's non-existent customers. While walking away I notice two guys sitting in a tow truck (illegally parked in the grass), figure they're burning a j, and I don't think twice because I never saw any "no parking" signs. Well, after waiting 2.5 hours in the DPS to sign a form and hand over $10 (this is a whole other frustrating sequence of events), I return to the parking lot to find my car towed. And what do you know, 10 minutes later the same tow truck pulls up to steal another one of the 4 cars parked in a lot with 30+ spaces. I ask the tow driver to give me a ride to pick up my car and he is decent enough to do that. On the way, he tells me it's bull shit my car was towed, even though he's the one that took my fucking car! He tells me they'll probably understand my story and give me half off. Well, we get there and of course they charge me the full $193; which is an absurd amount considering they possessed my car for all of 1 hour. To top it off, there was a very malnourished and sad looking "guard dog" at the impound lot. I should mention that the people working there were friendly enough, even understanding, but that does little to quell the outrage and they still charged an absurd amount. So, the point of this.
