Dr.Chen is extremely unprofessional. I do not recommend her care for any dental needs!! I had an implant bridge placed on my upper right jaw December 2020 by Dr. Ho. After months of waiting and revisits to ensure my implants didn't fail, I was given as a patient to Dr. Chen to place my implant bridge. The bridge itself was bulky and didn't fit comfortably. The entire process cost me $4300 after insurance. Dr.Chen was extremely negative everytime I saw her. My unhappiness with how the bridge fit into my mouth and the size of the bridge in comparison to the teeth surrounding it seemed to bother her. She attempted to shave the bridge down while I sat in the chair. It was still not to my satisfaction. She gaslit me into feeling as though it was my fault, not hers or their lab. This was an almost year long process. I have anxiety about dentist offices and this they knew. Dr. Chen refused to make it right, do her job or give great customers service as Dr.Ho had on several occasions. I paid in full, in cash same day. Weeks later after she bullied me into the placing the bridge although I wasn't happy with it, a portion of it became loose. I went back in and was subjected to her huffing and puffing asking how I'd cracked the bridge. I was confused on why I was being blamed. I told her from the beginning that the bridge was I uncomfortable. She complained about having to take it out. I set up appointments with other dentist at both the Austin location and Georgetown location after my bridge was placed. I just learned to deal with the bad placement and the bulky construction of it over time. Dr.Chen had at this point consistently showcased her inability to conduct herself in a professional manner. Id simply come in to start a full mouth restoration not be bullied and gaslit into thinking I was the problem. I was willing to pay the money to have it done step by step and this was the 1st. Dr.Chen ruined this process for me. I thought I'd finally found a dental office that would help me restore my confidence and smile. I was terribly wrong. She's a horrible dentist and lacks the skills to properly do her job. She also lacks the emotional intelligence to conduct herself in a calming manner when dealing with her own frustrations. She projected those frustrations onto me multiple times which gave me anxiety every time I saw her. I gave up at that point on trying to get what I was rightfully owed. Fast forward to now June 2025. I call the office because my bridge has come out with one abundant. I request to see Dr.Ho because I'm not sure what's going on and what exactly came out. I'm told I have to see Dr.Chen. I explain that id rather see Dr.Ho. He was excellent. He was patient. He understood my anxiety. Great dentist. I'm still forced to schedule with Dr.Chen. I reluctantly accept. Today is the appointment and I get a call at 8:30 from her scheduler. He explains nervously that Dr.Chen had cancelled my appointment due to my dissatisfaction of her work previously. Again she takes no accountability for her actions or her lack of competence in the line of work she chose to do. My implants are not failing but the abundant wasn't placed correctly obviously. I didn't call the office with entitlement. I simply wanted Dr.Ho to take a look at what was going on. Thankfully I am in no pain thanks to his impeccable work with my extractions and implants. Giving 1 star for the appalling mistreatment of my elderly mother--a disabled cancer survivor--by Dentist Humphrey Ho (Dr. Wan Hin Humphrey) and his wife. After using her life savings to pay him $38,000 for implants, she was hopeful to finally have usable teeth after radiation left her with weak bones and painful chewing. Dr. Ho assured her she was a good candidate, but once he was pre-paid in full, the experience became a nightmare. During extractions and post-care, Dr. Ho caused her significant pain, showing little patience or empathy. When she voiced concerns, instead of addressing them, he abruptly dismissed her mid-treatment. He gave her a dismissal letter and shockingly, he even asked the front desk to call the police to escort her out despite her having an appointment. (two front desk females present, event documented). Keep in mind, my mother is in her 70s and relies on a walker to get around. The 1-star Yelp reviews were accurate, he took the money but refused to finish the job. No patience, no regard for his patient's pain or well-being. A truly horrible experience. Stay far away. Nancy from the office confirmed on 3/21/25 that the dentist has no intention of completing the services, or issuing the requested refund so she can get the implants done elsewhere. Scheduled cleaning appointment. Sent the requested X-rays from my dentist from last November. Provided all my information several times, including sent copy of insurance via email. As I arrive I had to fill out a 7 page document which requires that I attest I had been informed of details and spoken to someone about risks and such when I had not. As I informed the receptionist she says after I sign is when I will be informed of the disclosure I signed but I must sign. As I insist and tell her it makes no sense to sign something that wasn't done she says that this is a new form and I have to sign or cannot be seen. Fine I signed and sat there waiting. I was called in and the lady said I'm doing an exam today and asked to do an xray. I tell her I was scheduled a cleaning and was never informed of an exam. She says there's no guarantee for cleaning because the appointment is for an exam. I again told her I scheduled a cleaning and if we are not doing a cleaning I'm leaving because that's what I had scheduled. She tells me (with an irritated attitude) she cannot guarantee I'll get a cleaning at this appointment. I've wasted my time scheduling an appointment and waiting almost a month for it, to come the day of my appointment I get the information I'm not doing a cleaning but an exam when at no point via email or phone or text they informed me and my scheduling has always been for a cleaning. read more

Dr. Chen, Dr. Ho and their staff are fantastic! They practice a reasonable approach (takes time to understand your profile and history) which I generally prefer. I've had over a half dozen dentists over the years, and Dr. Chen is the best. She does not recommend a filling, additional work unless it is absolutely necessary. She understands that some folks are more susceptible to cavities than others and won't take a cookie cutter approach to your treatment options. She's also very knowledgeable and happy to go into detail about your situation if you're interested. I scheduled my dental checkup here because of the great reviews on Google, however I ended up having the worst experience I've ever had at a dental office. I had a very poor experience with Dr. Chen. I'll admit, going to the dentist gives me severe anxiety, therefore, I try to look for dentists who are compassionate towards my situation. I also make it clear to the receptionists when booking my appointment so that they are aware of my concerns. During my second visit, I was scheduled to undergo two fillings and a cleaning. Prior to starting on my fillings, Dr. Chen told me that if I felt any pain, to raise my left hand and she would stop and numb me. I said, I did not want to feel any pain, please numb me before you start drilling my teeth. She told me once again, to raise my left hand if I felt any pain. I had to ask multiple times to be numbed. I've never had a filling done without numbing. Why would I wait to feel pain if I don't have to?!? The numbing injections took less than two minutes and she immediately starting drilling my teeth. It did not slow the process down whatsoever! She was so hesitant to numb me and said she's NEVER had a patient asked to be numbed for a filling. I found this so hard to believe. Beyond bizarre! Her entire demeanor was so rude. I will say the receptionists are very kind and pleasant. The assistant who helped with my filings and cleaning was also very pleasant. Dr. Chen could really learn a thing or two on how to treat patients from her staff. Also, this place sends you SEVEN reminders (via email & text) for a single appointment; very excessive. My poor wife Krista went to these people to have overlay denture work performed. Once she was fitted with her new teeth she was asked to try them and see how they work out. Well, they were too large for her mouth and cut her gums. She tried them but it was no use that it was obvious that these were not working out. Weeks later Krista had a follow-up appointment concerning her ill-fitted teeth, She called me from the dentist's office in tears saying that they wanted more money to redo their mistake. I of course complained to them and told them if they don't make this right that I would complain to the state dental board. They would not warranty their work unless we would pay an additional $1200 over the $18,000 that we already paid. They also came up with a form for us to sign not to complain. This is America if someone does you wrong you should be able to speak your voice and not be silenced. These people are rude, noncompassionate, and don't stand behind their work. A total rip-off. We refuse to sign their document and intend to make a formal complaint to the State Dental Board and send them a copy of their ridiculous gag order form. I would have posted zero stars if I could. I posted the form that they gave us below. In short, it says that we are not allowed to complain...(they call it threats) and must pay the additional amount without complaining. They also told us that they will not warranty any of their work unless we comply and sign their document. Needed a small esthetic procedure on my gums, so i made an appointment with the specialist Dr. Ho. The office is easy to find, convenient parking, and the front desk lady was very nice and personable. I like the digital forms that you can fill out on a tablet. They have coffee and tea while you wait too! Although I got called back immediately, no wait at all. Dr. Ho was very nice and explained everything. I hate shots, but I literally didn't feel anything while he was numbing my teeth. The treatment only took 10 minutes and was super easy, and I am really happy with my result! 3D Dental is Outstanding. I was totally dissatisfied with my Previous Dentist after they pulled a tooth and didn't give me Antibiotics. I had Facial Skin Cancer Surgery 2 weeks before I had the tooth pulled. The Skin Cancer Surgery became infected due to the previous Dentist not prescribing antibiotics. I had the tooth pulled because I needed a Dental Implant. Obviously I wanted to switch and was ready to hang any Dentist I met. Doctor Ho did a bone graph and I have had zero problems. Recently (April 2019), after reading the reviews of Austin 3D Dentist which received excellent ratings(2) I decided to go to office on 183 Research. I was greeted by the receptionist (Ali) who was very friendly. I had one tooth that was of concern to me. X-ray was taken and then I was taken into the treatment room. Before the dentist even introduced their self, I heard from behind the treatment chair "oh this bad " "I don't think I can save this tooth". Then the dentist came around and sit down. She still hadn't introduced herself. Later I found out her name Dr. May Chen. After examining me she began to tell me all the things that she thought needed to be done. The cost was adding up quickly. I felt she was taken advantage of me. Needless to say my experience was terrible. I would not recommend this dentist ! read more

Had the best experience here recently for a cleaning, After realizing my family dentist wasn't cutting it with my dental anxiety and my crappy teeth I decided to seek a new dentist. When I got there they greeted me by my first name, offered me something to drink and sat me down in a cozy room. They discussed my teeth with me in a non judgmental way that didn't make me feel ashamed. My old dentist didn't hold back lol. My first cleaning went well and they described the high purifying filter system they use the in office, Dr. May described it as "I invest in the best equipment for my patients health". apparently they're the only place in Austin with a system like that. They went over the plan for my teeth in the future including and implant and were very reasonable about the pricing they offered.
