Dr. Chen, Dr. Ho and their staff are fantastic! They practice a reasonable approach (takes time to understand your profile and history) which I generally prefer. I've had over a half dozen dentists over the years, and Dr. Chen is the best. She does not recommend a filling, additional work unless it is absolutely necessary. She understands that some folks are more susceptible to cavities than others and won't take a cookie cutter approach to your treatment options. She's also very knowledgeable and happy to go into detail about your situation if you're interested. I originally scheduled an appointment with Dr. Chen after another sub-optimal experience with a different dentist. And I am very grateful for finding her! read more

I scheduled my dental checkup here because of the great reviews on Google, however I ended up having the worst experience I've ever had at a dental office. I had a very poor experience with Dr. Chen. I'll admit, going to the dentist gives me severe anxiety, therefore, I try to look for dentists who are compassionate towards my situation. I also make it clear to the receptionists when booking my appointment so that they are aware of my concerns. During my second visit, I was scheduled to undergo two fillings and a cleaning. Prior to starting on my fillings, Dr. Chen told me that if I felt any pain, to raise my left hand and she would stop and numb me. I said, I did not want to feel any pain, please numb me before you start drilling my teeth. She told me once again, to raise my left hand if I felt any pain. I had to ask multiple times to be numbed. I've never had a filling done without numbing. Why would I wait to feel pain if I don't have to?!? The numbing injections took less than two minutes and she immediately starting drilling my teeth. It did not slow the process down whatsoever! She was so hesitant to numb me and said she's NEVER had a patient asked to be numbed for a filling. I found this so hard to believe. Beyond bizarre! Her entire demeanor was so rude. I will say the receptionists are very kind and pleasant. The assistant who helped with my filings and cleaning was also very pleasant. Dr. Chen could really learn a thing or two on how to treat patients from her staff. Also, this place sends you SEVEN reminders (via email & text) for a single appointment; very excessive. It's been an hour since my tooth extraction that took about an hour and a half only because the molar was infected internally so much that I believe there was only a raindrop of numbing liquid inserted into my gums; so there were plenty breaks between my hair raising squeaks and tears from both eyes; thought of labor pains raised my anxiety more than I could control, but the experience left me in the same place I was since my 5 years of age visit at Fort Elmendorf AFB. I'm allergic to metal, but I'll think about a future implant at a later moment as I believe if I let up on the gauze bite I could bleed to death. The dental assistant was either new or intimidated by the larger dentist because there was no fight or biting at any point of my agonizing scream especially if I say it was off the decibel chart of sound (previous band experience) for her to be on the back of the dentist's heels as they left the room numerous times within my hour and fortyfive minutes of what I was told was "just pressure." I'd say it was a molar tooth that split and rubbed up hard enough against my nerve to "start a fire." So basically I will be looking in to another dental place for my next molar extraction "when needed." A bit expensive for my $600/week budget, but I hope it solved my lower jaw to temple discomfort. Thanks again, hope to turn fifty and can still smile. The office environment deserves 5 star, loved the equipment upgrades and the immediate credit advance for more dental work at my interest. read more

After spending my entire savings on removing the old silver fillings & replacing them, then getting them crowned only to have them begin to rot & fall out within a two- year period--aarrggg!!! I'm finally getting relief from a fabulous, gentle periodontist. Not only is he thorough, he takes time to explain and gives me all my options in English which a lay person understands. My poor wife Krista went to these people to have overlay denture work performed. Once she was fitted with her new teeth she was asked to try them and see how they work out. Well, they were too large for her mouth and cut her gums. She tried them but it was no use that it was obvious that these were not working out. Weeks later Krista had a follow-up appointment concerning her ill-fitted teeth, She called me from the dentist's office in tears saying that they wanted more money to redo their mistake. I of course complained to them and told them if they don't make this right that I would complain to the state dental board. They would not warranty their work unless we would pay an additional $1200 over the $18,000 that we already paid. They also came up with a form for us to sign not to complain. This is America if someone does you wrong you should be able to speak your voice and not be silenced. These people are rude, noncompassionate, and don't stand behind their work. A total rip-off. We refuse to sign their document and intend to make a formal complaint to the State Dental Board and send them a copy of their ridiculous gag order form. I would have posted zero stars if I could. I posted the form that they gave us below. In short, it says that we are not allowed to complain...(they call it threats) and must pay the additional amount without complaining. They also told us that they will not warranty any of their work unless we comply and sign their document. We saved and budgeted our money for 3 years to take care of my wife's smile, unfortunately, she can't smile because of these people and now we are forced to get another dentist to correct their incompetent dental work. read more

I am good about getting my 6 month cleaning and I know what to expect. Before I arrived I made sure they had everything and I stated that I had to have my cleaning done at the time of appointment. As it turns out, they could not figure out how to charge my insurance, so I sat in the office wasting time, waiting and finally got up and left. Never have I ever had this issue before. Then I was basically told that I should not get Invisalign. She gave me all kinds of issue when no one, including professional orthodontics have never mentioned any issues. The office is easy to find, convenient parking, and the front desk lady was very nice and personable. I like the digital forms that you can fill out on a tablet. They have coffee and tea while you wait too! Although I got called back immediately, no wait at all. Dr. Ho was very nice and explained everything. I hate shots, but I literally didn't feel anything while he was numbing my teeth. The treatment only took 10 minutes and was super easy, and I am really happy with my result! 3D Dental is Outstanding. I was totally dissatisfied with my Previous Dentist after they pulled a tooth and didn't give me Antibiotics. I had Facial Skin Cancer Surgery 2 weeks before I had the tooth pulled. The Skin Cancer Surgery became infected due to the previous Dentist not prescribing antibiotics. I had the tooth pulled because I needed a Dental Implant. Obviously I wanted to switch and was ready to hang any Dentist I met. Doctor Ho did a bone graph and I have had zero problems. I had a Crown put on another tooth and couldn't be happier with that experience. They treated me like Family. And I have a zero pain. Great Dentist. Highly recommend them read more

Recently (April 2019), after reading the reviews of Austin 3D Dentist which received excellent ratings(2) I decided to go to office on 183 Research. I was greeted by the receptionist (Ali) who was very friendly. I had one tooth that was of concern to me. X-ray was taken and then I was taken into the treatment room. Before the dentist even introduced their self, I heard from behind the treatment chair "oh this bad " "I don't think I can save this tooth". Then the dentist came around and sit down. She still hadn't introduced herself. Later I found out her name Dr. May Chen. After examining me she began to tell me all the things that she thought needed to be done. The cost was adding up quickly. I felt she was taken advantage of me. Needless to say my experience was terrible. I would not recommend this dentist ! read more

3D Dental - Both Austin and Georgetown are GREAT! Yesterday, I had major oral surgery and all my teeth were removed - both the upper and lower Arch - about 26 teeth. I would NOT recommend this procedure for a fun Wed night. Thank goodness, the Dr (Dr Ho and Dr Chen at 3D Dental both made the visits memorable and almost painless - but always friendly, open and honest about the process). Luke who works as Dr Ho assistant was worth the visit. he made you feel at home, laugh, and will even offer to sing if your blood pressure is elevated. He was so funny which kept my mind off the impending work. The pain (yes there was a lot of pain even with IV sedation) was manageable. The temp dentures which were already made, so I could have walked out with a new set of temporary teeth immediately, would not go on because my gums were so swollen, but they will in the next week I hope. When I got there they greeted me by my first name, offered me something to drink and sat me down in a cozy room. They discussed my teeth with me in a non judgmental way that didn't make me feel ashamed. My old dentist didn't hold back lol. My first cleaning went well and they described the high purifying filter system they use the in office, Dr. May described it as "I invest in the best equipment for my patients health". apparently they're the only place in Austin with a system like that. They went over the plan for my teeth in the future including and implant and were very reasonable about the pricing they offered.
