We decided to get an order of shrimp and pork spring rolls and I got a vermicelli bowl with pork, since it was too warm for Pho. The spring rolls were tasty and got us off to a good start. My vermicelli bowl was PACKED- this is one of those places that is really generous with their bowls. The bowl was really good and the pork was cooked perfectly and had a lot of flavor. I placed a phone order and was told that it would be ready in 20-25 minutes. We live pretty close so I told my husband to pick it up in 30 minutes. He gets there and they haven't started the order. Were they waiting until we got there to make sure we were coming?? If so, why tell us to wait that long instead of saying you don't take phone orders? They tell my husband 10 more minutes. He waits 25 minutes and our order STILL isn't ready. They tell him it'll be out in 5 minutes and at this point my husband is frustrated because of the insane wait after them LYING to us saying that our order would initially be ready in 20 minutes. Christmas night, the only place on Manhattan Boulevard that was open! I went here with my BFF because she hadn't eaten all day and we had some catching up to do. For apps we ordered steamed spring rolls, which was quite bland. For such a SLOW night (the staff outnumbered the guests) the efficiency of the service was ridiculous. My friend was half done with her (too sweet) Pad Thai when my DELICIOUS Coconut Curry Chicken dish came. I ate some and took the rest to go since she was practically done. Overall, this place is okay. I came here on Sunday for lunch with my family. We ordered fried calamari, wonton soup, banh xeo, combination fried rice, and seafood bird's nest. It is nice that they offer different sizes for their soup and calamari. Every table gets a free order of wonton chips with duck sauce. Service was off on the day we went. The waiter barely came around and he forgot to refill our water multiple times. When we asked for our check, it took him over 20 minutes to bring it to us and they weren't even busy at the time. All the dishes were okay apart from the banh xeo. The banh xeo was cooked so lightly that it seemed like it was undercooked. Wouldn't recommend it. Most of the dishes here are meant to be served family style. Prices aren't too bad. read more

Before Katrina I survived on August Moon's special fried rice from Prytania location bc it was tasty, they brought it to me and I would eat on it for days. On an adventure to the WB with a friend, we decided to check it out before heading back to the EB. Of course we were not let down. We arrived still in time for the lunch special. The special includes your choice of a fried yummy treat and soup. I ordered the moo goo gai pan with crab rangoons and egg drop soup. This combo is one of my personal faves. I can eat it every day. I have to say though, this isn't THE best Chinese food I've ever had, but it's freak'n pretty close. And for the cost of this meal... $13.00!!! Yup! One thing I must mention that I wasn't pleased with was the service. Our server needs to step up her game. Bc this place is new, it's much nicer then it's sister restaurant. I really enjoyed this place. The service was really good and the food was even better. We came in a large group, so I got to sample tons of dishes. We did a family style dinner instead of ordering just a dish per person. Combination fried rice - I didn't have any of this bc I'm not a big rice person, but my 2 kids loved it. Seafood birds nest- this isn't your typical bird nest made of taro. This was more of a pan fried egg noodle dish and they formed it into a nest shape. So good! Flavorful and on point. I do wish they gave a tad bit more sauce though to "soften" up the fried noodles a bit, but that's just preference Ginger scallion lobster - they have a lobster special here (according to the sign at the front counter) however, they didn't really honor it since they said the sign is meant for the smaller sized lobster and not for the medium and bigger ones. The sign did not specify size, so I was a bit surprised by the pricing. But, I must admit that they did a nice job with this dish. Felt really light and the lobster was very meaty. Fresh chicken (there's a special name for it but can't remember)- it came cold, which my mom told me that's how it was supposed to be. I wasn't too fond of it. I found it hard to eat cold. I waited to eat it the next day after heating it up. Papaya salad - it was nice and spicy. It was really good and flavorful. Had nice crisp to the veggies. Just perfect Flat rice noodle cake w/ seafood- the sauce was very similar to the birds nest platter. It's just with a different type of noodle. I loved it bc the noodle was chewy and they also pan fried it so it was more like a pancake noodle. Crisp on the outside and chewy throughout. Delicious. We also had this beef with green dish. I can't quite remember what greens it was, but the beef itself was very tender. After all that food, I needed to be rolled out of the place. Came here for my pop's birthday. Our waitress was just adorable and kept us laughing the whole time. My review will be about the hot pot we had. The seafood hot pot was so good. It is probably my favorite in New Orleans. The broth was perfect, sour with a nice kick. Not to be mistaken for the August Moon in uptown, which is a different owner and restaurant entirely, I have been here for quite a few times this past year because apparently this place is a favorite of my mother. My mother and I usually get the bun bo hue noodle. It has gotten better over the year; they started to add more meat to it. And, I have to say it is one of the better bun bo hue in town. I have also tried the peking duck, seafood hotpot, among other dishes that I have tried when going to parties here. Overall, it's a good restaurant. Good food at an OK price. I have yet ever to complained about this place. To go in a little more detail, the seafood hotpot is good as long as you know how to prepare a hot pot right. The bun bo hue has more meat now since I have initially started to go here since last year and it's not too spicy. My favorite appetizer is the "bo kho" order, which is basically beef stew with carrots and a side of French bread. Really good, not spicy, thick, and can fill you up. Personally, I have never ordered nor been to a party that had ordered Chinese food at this restaurant because the restaurant is known for their Vietnamese food. read more

Was craving Chinese takeout. I relocated back to NOLA from Texas. Love the different flaovors and cultural dishes found in this region. Used to Five Happiness delicious dine in experience Carrollton Ave and Chinese Kitchen take out by Xavier University for reasonbly priced exceptional take out Chinese/Cantonese dishes. This culinary experience was less than average. Firstly the food was not good at all. I ordered Kunr Bo chicken w extra veggies and vegetable fried rice. (there was no veggies in the rice just eggs fried in this nasty tasting oil. "AWFUL Y'ALL" : / It was overpriced and the portion size was skimpy. I didn't order soup but somehow got egg drop soup and and egg roll that was fried in some kinda heavy oil that left a nasty pungent taste in my mouth. I ordered extra vegetables because they're known for skimping on the veggies. (I was charged an extra $4 for a few more pieces of brocolli. To add insult to injury they charged me .35 for a sate sauce (ground red peppers and that awful oil). My bill was $18.14 and I didn't even eat it. Suffice it to say I was not over the "August Moon" about this place. West bank needs a good reasonably priced chinese food restaurant. ASAP!! read more

In a word...solid! You know you are in for a treat when the Asian restaurant is filled with Asians! The service is very friendly and professional. I have asked for recommendations from the servers and have never been disappointed. They are all very familiar with the extensive menu that covers two totally different cultures, Vietnamese and Chinese. All food is served promptly and at the proper temperature. The servers are not pushy, checking on you every 5 seconds like some restaurants. If you need a refill of water, they just make it happen...no need to ask. The food wasn't terrible, it just wasn't the best. It gave me a kind of queasy feeling. The customer service was also horrible, you could feel the attitudes in the atmosphere. Not only did the woman not engage with us, the food also took an incredible amount of time to make it out. As we were leaving I had in mind to leave a small tip nothing much, but as I handed the lady my card she began walking around the restaurant with my card and its information showing amongst others attending the restaurant. She then began to take a while to charge my card, I walked to the front to see the hold up, just to be met with an angry speech on how I need to tip and next time I visit I will not be seated until I tip or I'll be automatically charged for a tip....why is it my fault for anything in regards to tipping ? Food: I came here once for a party and the family style they have is pretty good! Not much to complain about. So if you're with a big group (10 ppl) and never ate here before, that's a good option. The clams and pho pizza is a NO tho. I don't know if you can take it out or it's a set menu for that price (about 200?). My favorite here is the August moon steak cubes (aka bo luc lac). A lot of other Viet places seasoning doesn't match here. They have this as a lunch special with egg drop soup and one fried appetizer for 10.95! I had the cho cho which taste like meat pie. Pretty good deal for good food! The interior is nice with its decor and painting ceilings that resemble a blue sky. Definitely spent a lot of money decorating this restaurant. My fiance and I had our engagement reception in the private room they have there. They were very easy to work with. They have different menus grouped together. I was able to substitute some dishes with other to fit my liking. I was allowed to come in the day before to set up and decorate. All of my guest from near and far enjoyed the food. They still rave about it! They also have a sound system ready to use. Service was great. I would recommend this place for small parties. We couldn't be happier with having them cater for us. As for the restaurant side, we stopped by for dinner with two other friends recently. The food came out in a timely manner. We ordered family style dishes. Everyone enjoyed the food. Order was placed at 6:09pm and Door Dash driver was at the restaurant on time, but apparently the restaurant didn't even have the order ready yet! If you're not up to speed with technology then don't join apps like Door Dash or Waitr or Uber Eats! It's already 7:30pm and the driver just called to let me know that the order was finally given to him. What an inefficient operation!? The worst service ever!.. I and my family were the only black customers in the entire restaurant. My fiancé and our 2 year old. It took us forever to even get greeted by the waiter and it wasn't even pack in the joint! Our counterparts who all happened to be white were served with promptness, asked if they needed anything etc. Once our food got to the table it was ice cold due to it sitting out for soo long. I really like the Flavors at August Moon. Traditional Chinese food served restaurant style with excellent atmosphere and a friendly staff even though at times there can be a slight language barrier but for me that adds to the dinning experience. Their lunch menu is served with egg drop soup and an egg roll on most dishes which cost extra in most places. The Calamari and wontons are delicious. Servings are simmered sized for lunch and I can't imagine what the dinner portions look like. You'll need a nap after eating a meal here. Yum Bonus - I got to see the waitstaff in action as a rowdy customer looking to get free food blew up on the staff and they handled it well. They were going to comp her a meal that she ate in its entirety but she wanted shrimp fried to go as well. Luckily the police showed up and escorted mean ladies out and unfortunately the police made them pay for their food. Should have taken the free meal and left. Lol read more

I love it here! This food is awesome! The service is generally impeccable. Occasionally I have a server who is new and cannot answer menu questions, but they are always friendly. If you don't like it, its probably because you are working for a competitor. Seriously, I have never had a bad meal or bad service, and Im a picky little thing. Even my teenagers love it. Give it a try. I recommend the Vietnamese hot and sour soup, Bahn mi, pad Thai, and rainbow fish. My kids stick to the more run of the mill Chinese style dishes. The decor isn't lavish, but its a bit flashy, and always clean. I feel comfortable here in shorts or in a cute dress. Part of the huge menu is items only with no explanations in English. This is where the good stuff is. If I lived closer, I would eat here more often, so I could just try everything on the menu. read more

This is right by my house so I probably dine here about once a month. The reason I give it 3 stars is it's a little run down. It could use a good upgrade and the prices for Vietnamese/Chinese food is high for the surrounding areas. Their Vietnamese dishes are also better than their Chinese dishes. I typically order their bun no hue (spicy beef noodle soup) the broth is great. Their salt n pepper calamari appetizer is really good as well as their salt n pepper fried tofu. I ask for this to be made with the soft tofu and be sure to specify that as if you don't they serve it with firm tofu and it's just not the same. The service is a hit or miss but it's open later than a lot of the Asian cuisines around the area. read more

It was a course meal style, similar to Asian weddings but the course meal we ate was shorter with different selections of foods. Seafood soup Squid salad Fried squid and eggrolls with fish sauce Fried rice Fried noodles and seafood Beef and Chinese broccoli Everything was mediocre except for fried squid. They were crunchy and had a nice mild salt and pepper seasoning. Other than that, I don't recall anything else being good.
