I will never do business with this unscrupulous company again. I went in, asked for the $99 remote start system they advertised on their site. After the ol bait and switch of $320 shock, I decided to still get it done as I was already there and had other things to do today. I paid for it, gave them my keys and left. I came back 3 hours later since they advertise on KUPD to have most installations under an hour. That is when the pot-smelling rep Dylan who sold me the system told me it would be 2.5-3 hours more to get it installed because they were busy. Apparently my time means absolutely nothing to them. HORRIBLE customer experience! I came to this shop approximately 3 months ago to have a simple subwoofer installed, I regret that decision. This install took the shop 2 1/2 hours to complete despite the clerk claiming that there was an empty garage. When presented my 2016 truck... 1) The bass boost knob was not installed 2) The 10lbs metal subwoofer was NOT secured down in ANYWAY, very unsafe! 3) the new vehicle had been scuffed around the working area. The store manager, seemed to understand my frustration at first but didn't do much to rebuild trust in this company. Was offered a detail job to repair said damage, but never got a call back to set it up. FAST FORWARD 02/09/18 - - Powered subwoofer stopped working (power light on) indicating possible loose/poor connection. To find this out had to remove deck... Multiple screws were missing from after this shop installed my deck 1/3 securing screws were in place. Would NOT recommend at all. read more

It was a month long ordeal getting my radio installed, but it was completed, along with several additional, unexpected charges. From what I've observed, the Bell Road location of Audio Express is run by Generation Y'ers (or late X'ers)who employ Generation Z'ers. This can be an interesting and sometimes toxic combination. There will always be a disconnect to the service that Baby Boomers have come to expect: promptness, professionalism, follow-through, dignity and respect. Gen Y'ers overwhelmingly elected Donald Trump, whose own business model is based on a PT Barnum type mass, repetitive promotion to create angst and hysteria for the purpose of generating interest and revenue - No Refunds, No Apologies, No Respect. Just winning at all cost, and if necessary, file bankruptcy when the creditors come, rinse and repeat cycle. Combine these ethics with Gen Z'ers whose digitally soaked brains have the temperament and attention span of a gnat, and you get modern audio installation companies. Unless you have a vacation home in the Hamptons, this is unfortunately the wave of the future. Coping requires patience, a single-malt scotch, and lowering one's expectations. The four stars are because the competition is not much better. Update 8/26: had to return because of a constant buzzing sound coming from the stereo. Installer didn't properly route ground. Subtracted one star for the inconvenience of having to wait again in the hot AZ morning sun because of their first-come-first-serve policy. Subtracted another star for not fully closing my front hood, which could've been a disaster while driving. Pretty sad that this is the way modern business is conducted. read more

Great products and awesome service. Bought my son his first car stereo here for Christmas and Brandon helped me pick out the best one for what I was looking for and at good prices. We came back after Christmas for the installation and they not only installed the new radio, but fixed the speakers that were previously installed incorrectly. Now I brought it in to have them put the old one back in and take new 1 out. (I sold my truck) now my 4 wheel lights come on. I took it in today and now. They said it wasn't there fault. I would avoid Audio Express completely, threw down 7k on an infinity system looking to replace factory speakers and add 2 amps (bell/51st ave). I had the worst customer service experience ever during install and tuning phase. required multiple trips (about 10 over 1 month) with lengthy wait times each time 2+ hours (this is after initial install where i left my vehicle for 3 days), shoddy/poor workmanship, horrible attitudes, fighting with customers in-store, poor customer service and no ownership or pride of installation / aesthetics of install. charging me twice for re-installs when the error was with them for providing misinformation. they are only interested in taking your money, i would be very careful and do your due diligence before coming to ANY audio express. the district manager was no help either and would not take any ownership and attempted to make it appear as if i was the one in error when they are supposed to be the "professionals" and advise you appropriately. read more

We bought a stereo from this place last year and it was over $1000. We knew we were going to get another car eventually (which is now) and they told us they would take it out of the first car for free when we came to put it in the new car. LIES,LIES,LIES!! When I went there today the guy said "No, we don't do that.". Um, then why did you tell us that? He totally disregarded what was previously said to us and wanted to charge me $80 to remove it and put the stock stereo back in. He said it was an hour job and it would normally cost $100 but he was giving me a deal. Yeah right! A deal would be honoring what you said to us originally. So much for customer appreciation or satisfaction. So, the stereo would be coming out of my husband's car that we just traded in and I was going to put it in my car since he wants a different one in his new car. Now my car is older, its a 2007 so kits and stuff aren't that expensive. When the guy started writing down costs and labor and everything I had had enough with Audio Express! He wanted $150 for just labor alone!!! This is completely separate from the original thing I wanted him to do (not combined). The material and parts that I was going to need was incredibly inflated 8x more than what I saw online myself!!!! Needless to say, I definitely took my business elsewhere! They took the stereo out and replaced it with the stock radio for a significantly lower price and in only 30 minutes! (hmmm seems like Audio Express was trying to milk the labor costs to me!) Big thanks to the DM James. I have had multiple systems and alarms installed from this location over the last 15 years. What to do? Take the vehicle there and talk with them. Audio items that are better cost more than the cheaper ones. Plan to leave the vehicle for them to install it right. Give them time to install it right. If its not right they fix it. They value there reputation. Lets face it some vehicles are easy and others present challenges. My last vehicle was an 02 Ram which they install a eight speaker system with multiple amps. I bought a remote start for my car online and it was supposed to be plug and play. Turned out to be a little more involved than that. Went to audio express and they installed it for me at low agreed upon price no matter how long it was going to take them. Went to another shop before audio express and they quoted me a minimum of 4-5 hours at $45 an hour. I told them that's crazy and it would be cheaper to buy one somewhere and have it installed there. So I came into Audio Express after looking at the ad online and getting approved for some store credit. I must say that Jose and Matt were very helpful and knowelagble abbot the different components. I had an idea about what I wanted, and they pointed me in the right direction. I went with the Alpine package, a new deck that is Bluetooth, 6x9 front door speakers, 6-1/4 back door speakers, 2 x 10 Alpine woofers in a sealed box. 500 watt ammo for the woofers, power pack for the doors, and a new CODE alarm to protect everything.......Must say that for the $ that I spent I am very pleased with what the l they put together for me, the install was clean no visible cables, no engine sound everything is perfect, the guys dwindling get an A+ from me. This isn't the first system that I've had installed in one of my cars, but is have to say that is the cleanest sounding. I would definitely recommend these group of guys to all my friends, I never felt pressured or pushed into buying better components. Great job guys, see you when I get my next car. read more

Getting work done at Audio Express is kind of like the time I went to a baseball game with the worst driver in the world: I really liked being at the baseball game, but in the future I'll get a ride with somebody else. The good stuff first: They did help me understand my options, they had a good selection of merchandise and the installation work was clean and looked sharp. Unfortunately, to get to those good things you have to put up with lots of lip service and lies - in fact, not a single verbalized statement that they gave me has turned out to be true. My quote rose 20% when we went to check out over the verbally quoted price and budget - and I couldn't get a quote on paper at all, only verbal estimates. Some of the promised discounts on certain products never materialized, either. Then, installation lasted a full 6 hours longer than promised - which might have been fine if they just came out and said, "Hey, this is going to take a while" - instead, I was strung along with "they are almost done" for several hours. The finished product (I asked them to install an audio/video system for us) looked fine, but not every component works as expected and while I've been promised it will be eventually corrected, I have to be the one to contact them for support. At this point, my expectations are extremely low for their follow-through and the long-term use of the system. The next time I need A/V work done on my vehicles, I'll pay more and go someplace where I don't have to put a seat belt on the minute I step in the door. read more

The ads on the radio and in store about easy financing is a complete lie. Thier financing claim my Bank of America account is invalid. It's good I get paid through it and can prove it's open. I even called BOA and they said it's on the finance end. So the finance is incompetent and the ads a complete lie. First off, I am a brick and mortar person. Made in America is on the top of my list as well. Mail order is killing a lot of businesses. Brick and mortar has to make up with excellent customer service. My experience at Audio Express on Indian School in Phoenix began on a positive note. Scotty, the Sales Associate, was all in on trying to fit my sound system needs for my vehicle. JL Audio speakers were on the top of my list. JL makes a 10" side trunk mount system for space saving but I was willing to forgo the space saver and open up the selection from JL Audio. Which brought me to the JL Audio MicroSub 10" or 12". I settled on the 10" Microsub. Scotty was pushing for the 12" so I was willing to listen to both. Scotty said that was something he could do. Instal the 10" and demo the 12" and make a choice from there. Scotty said he could instal the 10" sub the next day. An agreement was made and I brought the car in the next day, Sunday. Scotty set me up with the paperwork and said we are going to ring you up for the 12" but instal the 10", as per your request. This way if you go with the 12" there will be no more paperwork needed. Should this have been a red flag? Or a Sales guy, who with experience, knew most people settled for the larger subwoofers when given a choice? The cost difference was only $50 between the two so the sound was the only thing in play here. At this time payment was not made. Scotty offered a remote bass knob adjuster and I declined thinking the JL Amp settings would suffice. Upon leaving the vehicle with Scotty he said it would be 2 to 3 hours to instal. It was around noon time. I confirmed at that time that a 10" JL Audio MicroSub was to be installed first. He said yes. As the afternoon wore on my wife asked if anybody had called about the car as it was almost 4 pm. I then contacted Scotty and he said he tried to call me twice. I asked what number and he had the wrong number. In fact all my personal information on the invoice except my name is incorrect. My address is listed as 123 Sesame Street in Mesa and a (480) number. I arrived at the store around 4:30. Got in the car with Scotty and listened to the system. It was terrible. All bass, no mid, no treble. I asked what is in here and he stated the 12" was installed. We thought you would like it better. He said the knob adjuster would fix that. I agreed to have that installed but said I still wanted to hear the 10" as per agreement. Scotty said it was too late in the day. Monday morning my wife took the car in for the knob to be installed. Monday afternoon I visited the store telling Scotty the knob makes a difference but I want to listen to the 10" as per agreement. He said ok we have techs available on Wednesday. Come Wednesday, I visited the store and the subs were swapped out with a floor model that was used and missing the grille. Scotty then said this is for your testing only and if you decide on the 10" it will be swapped for a new one. After the demo I told Scotty I liked the 10" better as it fit my sound needs better. At that time Scotty said ok you are good to go. I said this is a floor model and you said I was getting a new one. Then the Manager stepped in and he said this is the speaker you get. I said this is a used floor model that is missing the grille. The manager then said well you can buy a grille for $40 or $50. I then said if this is how you guys are going to be put the 12" back in. I am not paying for a 12" and get a used 10" thats missing parts and have to pay for the replacement part also. Basically stunned by their actions I left in utter disbelief of how badly I was treated and scammed over as little as $50 that I never asked for back in the first place. In my honest opinion this is a brick and mortar store that would benefit by being bulldozed so others don't have to endure this terrible customer service. It is fair that I write a follow-up review since they have shown that customers are important. After I wrote my review I was called the next day by their District Manager to apologize for the zero customer service I received over the last couple of days. I didn't answer the phone and didn't notice the voicemail until the next day when the store manager called and personally apologized for the way I was treated and that they wanted to connect the steering wheel controls and fix the alarm by installing a bypass so the motion sensor won't set off the alarm when the remote start is activated. They asked if I could come in when their most experienced installer was available and that it would only take about an hour to get everything finished. And to their word they made it happen. When I got in the District Manager met with me and again apologized for the hassle and again wanted to personally make sure everything was done as promised and in a timely manner. The truck was completed quickly and one of their employees went over everything that was added on and made sure I didn't have any questions about the other stuff that I had installed. I now see that they really do care about their customers and will go out of their way to make sure you are satisfied, and it seems to me that the employees are given plenty of leeway to make decisions on the spot to ensure customers are satisfied. They just need to get it right the first time. It shouldn't have to take a poor review to get problems fixed. I'm glad they proved they care about customers and appreciate how quickly the problems were resolved. read more

I wish I could give it 10 stars!! I went in there this morning hoping to get someone help me connect my blue tooth to my stereo. Come to find out that my stereo would not allow my phone to connect. After speaking to James and Noah they let me know that there was nothing that could be done and gave me the option to pay for a brand new one at a discount price which is what I did. They gave me a great price and went above and beyond then what they had to do. James and Noah were outstanding!!! I'm a service director and understand how important it is to take care of customers and that's exactly what they did for me. If there where a box to check don't walk run from these guys i would have checked it! I went in on 12-1-14 to have new deck installed and maybe new speakers. I was not sure about the speakers at time which i told the them. They, him told me that my car had an amp separate from deck that had a bunch of wires and this is why speakers would not sound good with deck only.There was no cluster of wires coming of my old deck a very simple connector, that was it. I later found this out. They also promised he would rewire all speaker wire, they said my was not good. This was done with hand shake. so i decided to have them do speakers if this was the case. Not on ticket which by the way there where also 7 yes i said seven charges that where not previously discussed. This is the short version of my Discussed. Turns out there was no factory amp that needed pulled out, also did not replace speaker wire which was promised. He then said my deck would now have cubby hole for misc stuff. My original deck was larger and the new one was smaller. being that it was older car with limited storage space i kinda liked the idea, was a selling point. There was no cubby hole. In short i got BS BIG TIME. spent over 800$ and only some of what was discussed was done. I did not get any phone call throughout day to let know they could not full fill what we discussed. I was basically up-sold and bs. I tried to talk and explain my frustration and they said that it was not on ticket so sorry. My honest opinion they will say and do anything to sell you even if it means lying! This is what they did! My time is to precious to be spending on here. However if i can help save a few people from spending too much money, being lied too and aggravation i will! I had a previous issue with my lighting and products that were provided to me, and I showed my concerns with the store as well as management. I was reached out to by James the GM in the Phoenix area, and I can honestly say he provided some of the best customer service I have experienced in a long time. When explaining my concerns and recent events that occurred, he reached out to me directly to handle the situation. James personally ordered my new product and had it expedite shipped to the store, and contacted me as soon as the product arrived. He gave me the opportunity to bring my car in immediately to be worked on. To add, the technicians along with James personally looked my car over, installed my product to exactly how I wanted it, and even went out of their way to assess and fix any other electrical and wiring issues throughout my whole vehicle. I have been worry-some purchasing products and having Audio Express install anything on my vehicle, but now I can honestly say, they have taken my concerns to mind and even made my situation better. I plan to make purchases in the future and will definitely refer to James for all of my future needs as I don't know if I will find someone who can take care of his customers better. read more

I had a cd player installed here and everything went well. The day I took it in initially they didn't have the wiring harness in stock so I had to wait a couple days. I recently stopped by the store on Bell Rd. to look for a nav unit for my wife's Rav4. Jesse's help was genuine as he didn't try to push me into the most expensive unit. He listened to what I was looking for in a unit and offered up two units I would be interested in. After deciding on a system, he got me in right away and had everything installed perfect. The faceplate that they used wasn't a factory fit but pretty close. I appreciated the fact he wasn't a high pressure salesman who tried to make it sound like he doing me favors on the price. Yes, the wait here can be daunting but it's worth it. These guys have been awesome. I had an auto tv installed and it has had a couple of issues (due to my rowdy kids) and the staff here has been awesome about fixing it and with no charge. Just had speakers installed inside my 2010 Corolla. I was a little worried they might take advantage because I am not the most knowledgeable person about car stereo systems. Jesse was awesome!
