I used to like these guys but I brought my moms Honda in for a vibration and after they diagnosed it they had a list a mile long of issues and wanted double the going rate to fix them. Problem is I know too much about fixing cars and took it to another shop because they quoted less that half to do the work and a day after I dropped it off at the other shop they told me it didn't need any of that stuff and that it just needed some grease. We have a Tesla Model S which suddenly claimed it might not start. It did and as Tesla, through the app, only had appointments at least a MONTH away, we drove it to Auburn Auto Doctors with warnings flashing. It took a while to isolate the problem with the motor control system, requiring the entire rear motor assembly get replaced. They got a new one from Tesla but after installation and work/testing ended up sending it to Tesla as ONLY TESLA can fix the firmware for the car to make the new motor work. This all took over 2 months. However, this wasn't Auburn Auto Dr.s fault, difficulties were with Tesla. Through this all, AADs was completely communicative and kept us well informed of what was going on, sending pictures, etc.. I wish they were closer as I would want to have them work on our other 3 vehicles if needed, as I have a high regard for them. read more

These guys are the best. Even if you just go in for an oil change they send you a text with a full inspection with photos of everything, they test all your fluids giving you a full run down of your vehicle and the level of urgency on everything they find. They send coupon checks in the mail for discounts, and they are always so nice, and they have gotten me in right away every time I have called. I got my oil change and all that^ for like 40 Bucks with my coupon. Definitely check these guys out ! read more

I feel the best way to explain my experience is by comparing it to the dentist office. When something is wrong weather if it's w your mouth or car that is, (check engine light) I tend to push it off bc we all know that once we go in or take it in, that dreadful convo your gonna face of all the things that need to be fix or your car is gonna blow up ( well that's what I picture) or your mouth is gonna rot away and have no teeth... The car failed inspection and needed work, which complicated our situation due to my mother living 45 minutes away. Auburn Auto Doctor's drove her personally to Starbucks to make sure she was in a cool place with food and drink. They picked her up again. They worked on their lunch break to try to get her an Uber. I have used these guys now on 2 different cars and every time they have diagnosed and handled my specific problems quickly and for way less than the other quotes I was getting. I'll start with my 2006 Lexus IS250 which had 3 dash lights on: check engine, VSC light, and traction control light. I was told by a different mechanic that it was going to need a new catalytic converter for $2000+. I brought the car in, had these guys diagnose it and they came back with a hose that had come unplugged due to a bad motor mount. So they put on a longer hose and fixed the motor mount, all for under $400. The other car was a check engine light on a Honda Civic that ended up just being the gas cap and I got out of there spending less than $20. I went to Tahoe for the weekend and on the way my truck overheated I had it towed to the Auto Doctor They said I need a new head gasket and it was $12000. For a new engine or $6,000 for a bandage to get home I had my trucked towed to my local mechanic and it was just a bad water pump there is absolutely no head damage Final cost at my mechanic was 1,225.00 Water pump a/c belt and tune up I feel they tried to ripe me off because I was stranded and needed to get home This place is a joke and the topper was the AAA driver pushed me to have my car towed there and I found out after it's because the tow company he works for is next door and he didn't want to drive anywhere else How situation was just bad read more

I needed a brake and light inspection for the DMV, these guys did a great job in a very timely manner. Yes, I know auto repairs are expensive but a couple of things didn't sit right with me. They replaced 3 bulbs, two on the back license plate and one marker light in a headlight. 5 bucks a bulb sounds OK but $60 labor to install them seems kind of weak, also heard them quote $61 to replace the battery in another customers key fob. I'll reiterate... the service was good, the job was done right and the people were very nice and professional. Sort of like sausage, overall it was a good experience but when I look at the granular details of the bill, some of the smaller parts struck me as offensive. $645 for front brakes seems expensive to me, did they really need to charge $60 labor to replace 3 bulbs on top of that? I wasn't going to write a review but I've been prompted twice in two days to leave them a review so here ya go. read more

Service Advisor Mike Monroe helped me throughout with prompt emergency same day service, high tech diagnosis, terrific communication and explanation, a professional quality electronic report of findings with test results and video data, and superb updates and follow up calls. Mike also lent a sympathetic ear as I considered several options for repair at several price points that were recommended. Auburn Auto Doctors was the fifth auto repair shop I had visited on the day I had a "check engine" warning light appear. I lucked into finding Auburn Auto Doctor on the recommendation of another nearby highly Yelp-rated shop that couldn't fit me into their schedule. I did receive helpful and attentive conversations from other repair shops I visited, but Auburn Auto Shop shined with their availability, knowledge, parts research, diagnostics, and follow through. I am looking forward to working with Auburn Auto Shop to get my car fixed as soon as parts, and my finances, are ready. I feel I clearly understand the severity of my car's repair needs, and feel confident Auburn Auto Shop can guide me through with excellent pricing, communication, and capability. I'm sure my "education" in my car's issues would have been far inferior if I hadn't worked with Mike (I verified most of what I learned from Mike with parts suppliers, dealerships, and independent shops, myself). I moved to Auburn two years ago and had been lucky enough not to need a mechanic. I had heard good things about Auburn Auto Doctors so when my Jeep wouldn't hold a charge, I I had it towed there. They fit me into their really busy schedule and kept me informed all the way. I especially liked the inspection report (including photos) that detailed what was right, what was wrong and what would need future attention. The staff, from mechanics to office, were friendly and helpful. Altogether having my Jeep repaired was a pleasant experience. It is not often you can say that when dealing with an auto repair. Quick, easy, very communicative. I asked for a basic service check over and oil change and a brake check. They did all of this within a couple of hours, they sent me an email report with photos and diagnostics of what they found. About half hour later I got a phone call from them with a summary and options and pricing of what to do next. I opted in the end for them to take care of everything, oil change, air filter, brakes, tire rotation and because so they kindly waived the check fees. I scheduled a 4 wheel alignment through the yelp app with the owner Wayne. His communication was great and i got an appointment booked within two days. I dropped the car off at 8am and they lent me a loaner car so i could get to work while they did an alignment and courtesy inspection, that was a big plus! I was happy with the service they provided and i didn't feel they were trying to push me to do some of the other recommended services on my 2013 mazda 3. they gave me a very detailed email breakdown of all the services they recommended, price estimates, priority, and why they are recommended. These guys are awesome! As if the universe hasn't given everyone enough challenges; PG&E did just that. Despite having failed back up generators they had the electrician out ASAP & told me they had a bay open & could begin work on it after diagnosing my brakes & rotors needed to be fixed. They brought in their own generators & worked vigorously to get computers, internet etc up &running. I felt bad but was willing to leave my car over night if I had too but that wasn't the case. To my surprise when they called me that my car was ready; he told me if I waited a bit longer his detailed cleaning guy is coming by & vacuumed & cleaned my windows. That was a nice touch. I thought their service & prices were reasonable & didn't feel like I was being taken advantage of. The last bid of charm was the bag of cookies left on my dash thanking me for being a customer. I took my car into Best American Tire & Wheel and he told me I only needed $300 worth of work and that my car didn't even require one alignment, let alone 3.
