We needed a 60k service for our 2024 Subaru Outback Premium and contacted M45. They responded with a quote within 24 hours. Their offer was ~$800. less than the local Subaru dealer. We are satisfied not only with their work but also with their responsiveness. Their website is awesome, loaded with lots of useful information. Although we are usually skeptical about using someone other than a dealer for major services, we are comfortable recommending M45 for Subaru work (Subaru is the only brand they service). read more

M45 Automotive is a great place to bring your subaru to! They have a very friendly and knowledgeable staff. I showed up to get my car tuned and they inspected it before putting it on the dyno to make sure the engine was ready to be tuned. They found some issues that needed to be fixed before tuning. I had a kinked fuel line and the tgv started acting up when they were trying to tune the car. They were able to repair all the issues and still get my car tuned in the same day. I live 3 hours from them and they worked as hard as they could to make sure my car was repaired and tuned so I wouldn't have to make two trips back. They even stayed open 2 hours past closing to make sure my car was repaired and tuned. Im a very happy customer and would recommend anyone that needs anything done on their subaru to come here. read more

Although diagnostic test didn't find my problem, which seems like I might have a possible upper pan o ring leak(beyond a simple diagnostic test), I just wanted to say that Randy and whoever was the tech was did an awesome job trying to pinpoint it as they wanted to hold my car and do a more thorough search at no charge to help me out. The multipoint inspection is totally spot on and told me about every nook and cranny on the outside that needs addressing. Actually it's by far the best multipoint inspection I ever had. Thankfully I'm already aware of most of the issues with my car, but there were definitely somethings I overlooked. Since I do almost everything on my car except internal engine and transmission stuff I'm really looking forward to bringing my car in for the timing chain guides and to have those O ring seals looked at. Thanks again Randy for the help and really appreciate you doing the best to try and pinpoint my problem. These people obviously care about the car you bring in! Looking forward to driving around 60 miles to get my car looked at from these guys again lol read more

I went here for an oil change. I got in right away, Seth was very helpful and nice. I wanted to establish service somewhere that catered to my Subaru. I saw their billboard on the freeway and decided to give them a try. They were fast, friendly and located not too far off of the freeway. Oil change and rotated tires for what I thought was a fair price. Thanks again! read more

I will always have so much praise for the quality of work and attention to detail they put when working on my car. Pricing can get a little bit expensive but is always well worth it knowing that the job will be done right the first time. Have had a fully built engine and bolt ons done by them and it's held up amazing. A year and 4 months and 20k miles later and absolutely 0 hiccups. Would recommend to anybody who owns a Subaru because they will always get the job done right! read more

Excellent service...professional, attentive and knowledgeable. Since they only service Subarus, they're the go-to experts!

Travis, John and his team are THE GOATS when it comes to getting your WRX or STi dialed in right. Had my 07 STi last worked on by DOM tuning in Vegas and the car came back looking like a rats nest under the hood and lots of things missing or just taped together and running like a pick n pull junk yard vehicle. Dropped off my STi to Travis and John and they sorted everything out for me, retuned it looking proper under the hood and now she runs and sounds FANTASTIC! I would definitely recommend anyone to M45 performance. Great guys who get the job done right the 1st time. read more

I bought a new car and had some "essential" mods that needed to be done right away. I wanted to go to a Subaru specific shop and support a local business. Spoke with Seth on the phone and decided to drive up to Auburn from Roseville. Pricing was reasonable and the work was timely. These guys know their Subarus. It took an extra trip to work out some kinks, but the team at M45 made it right and I'm now happy with work overall. Will be back when time comes for more work and maintenance. read more

Quick and friendly service, they took me in for an oil change right away. Came back a few days later to get my rear brakes and rotors done. They ordered parts ahead of time and had it completed in less than 2 hours. Reasonably priced, great customer service, solid work. read more

Wow, what customer service! Polite, listened and fast. How service should be and once was. Had a negative experience at Gold Rush Subaru so I drove straight to M45. I have owned three Subarus and always gone to the dealership for service feeling that was the best option. But today that changed. Thank you! read more

A friend recommended M45 since he had a Subaru and had received excellent service. I'm so glad I switched to M45 last year. I've used M45 for many years. Today John and Randy were excellent at solving a issue and honoring the warranty

I have to hand it to these guys. I am a tough customer...but Ryan and the team always take care of me, no matter how crazy I sound. I recently had my STI worked on and something didn't sound right to me after, but they brought my car in and did a thorough inspection and assured me all was well. I will continue to give this company my business not only because they do a good job, but because they make me feel welcome and I feel like a valued customer. Thanks M45! read more

- Ryan - the best! - Loaner car - Good communication - Professional and accommodating service manager - Easy to read paperwork - My very hard-to-fix lemon was completely fixed - great technicians! - Additional problems found during the process, some repaired at no charge! - M45 Auto goes way above and beyond in all respects! I hate going to the car mechanic for the same reason I hate going to the dentist: I'm usually paying a lot of money for something that shouldn't have broken in the first place. I also don't like giving 5 star reviews after spending thousands of dollars, but I'll make an exception here. The numbers don't lie. The Subaru dealer quoted me over $5000 for a head gasket, timing belt, and water pump. That seemed like a lot after doing some online research into what others were spending. Moreover, the dealer said they would use the same OEM head gasket type that was originally defective. "Wouldn't that mean it would fail in another 60k miles?" They just shrugged their soldiers. The dealer didn't have a good response. M45 fixed the famous gasket problem that all these Subaru cars have, plus a bunch of other stuff including the valves, front ball joints, and wheel bearings for less than the cost the dealer wanted. It was in the shop for less than a week, and the car drives like new. read more

I just had a 13 WRX rebuilt and brought it to Snail to have it tuned October 2024. When I arrived the day of my appointment I was given paperwork to fill out, asking what mods I had installed. I filled it out very accurately and gave them my info (I spent my hard earned money to build this motor and be here to have my car dyno'd). I was later told I would be taken back to the dyno room. When I arrived Travis already had the car on the dyno I dont know how many hits in he was (its a far walk to the dyno room from the front of the shop) . He then got out of the car after a few more and told me he was all done, and that he had tuned for NO boost controller .... I then told him that my car DID have a boost controller from Grimmspeed and had to SHOW it to him... his response to me was " I do a visual inspection along with going off of the paperwork" ... what type of visual inspection is that? My car is now blown after no more than ~500 miles after tuning, very disappointed. read more

manager tried to call me a few months back to try to fix this but i told him we already hashed this out. i dont want to be lied to again and waste money on things i know aren't the problem. a partial refund would've been nice then maybe i would change my opinion on this trash shop but no, only asked me to bring in my car even tho it's running great, because of ME, not this "specialty" Subaru shop. man i just laughed at him and hung up. the fact that it wasn't the owner that contacted just goes to show even more that they don't care about quality only care about squeezing more money out of me. never come here, i dont support establishment that aren't upfront and honest. This shop is not honest and will charge you like stealership. read more

Snail Performance installed Stage 1+ with a dyno tune on my 2020 STI, and it was a phenomenal experience. The vehicle seems smoothed out with a little extra kick in power. Travis and the M45 team were patient in figuring out exactly what I wanted to upgrade and potential next steps. Their prices were very competitive and even better than most dealerships or independent mechanics. I definitely recommend. Thanks. read more

Excellent customer service and knowledge about automobiles. The mechanics are top notch!

I am grateful to Ryan and the team who completed a pre-purchase inspection on a 2017 Subaru being sold by the local Suby dealership in town. Despite the dealership salesman's insistence that the car had been inspected, M45 quickly identified 6 expensive items which required immediate repair - they saved me a lot of $ and i am grateful. They handled the situation with professionalism and integrity and this is what I needed in the moment. Thank you Ryan. read more

Very impressed with the service received here. Ryan was informative and thorough in explaining what my car needed and gave an accurate timeline for when it would be done. Daughters new (to us) car broke down while I was out of town. Radiator cracked but all I knew at the time was it was leaking. I told her to have it towed to the dealer and they diagnosed the radiator failure but said it would need to have the head gasket replaced and we were in the $3300 range plus parts! M45 fixed the radiator and did a pressure check - no leaks on the head gasket. We are a customer for life now - thanks Ryan! read more

Short & Simple: The customer service is stupidly amazing. No bullshit or fluff to make you buy anything you don't need all in the customer's best interest. I spoke to Feph on the phone about potential work on my 05 WRX with 190k miles. I informed him about the health of my engine and Feph explained both sides of what I could gain but also the side that may not be great for my car; especially since the health of my engine is not promising. I feel like Feph could have swayed me to go forth with the services but instead, he said what is best financially and I do not think many businesses will be this honest. read more

Had my STI towed up to M45 for a non start issue from over an hour away because I've heard such good things about them from basically everyone who knows anything about Subarus. Ryan and the entire team were freakin awesome. From the first time I called to schedule the delivery for the tow Ryan kept me updated throughout the entire process! So many times in the past I often have to chase down other shops to actually even answer the phone, or to complete a simple task after my car has been there for an extended amount of time. Not only did M45 get my car in and out in under a week of work time but worked with me to allow me to pick up my car on the weekend even though they were closed. Ryan did not feel comfortable letting me take my car home until he knew and was confident that it was completely safe and fully functional. The shop went above and beyond to point out any additional issues without pressuring me into purchasing them. Every single time I called, Ryan was there to answer any and all questions and worked with me to complete the repairs, often offering multiple options to stay within my budget. Being that I was over an hour away, it was great that I didn't have to "show up" at the shop to figure out what was going on. I felt totally comfortable the entire time. It's so rare these days to find a shop that treats your car like their own and runs their shop without ego and that is willing to take time to build rapport with their customers but M45 came through, the repairs turned out amazing and I'm back on the road. They even installed an underbody cover I ordered a while back at no cost! I would have zero issues taking the car back at any point, even with the distance. Impeccable repairs, amazing service, timely communication, they really are the total package. Thanks M45! read more

My subaru needed the head gaskets done and was high mileage. There were some unforseen complications and M45 was very helpful and fair in helping to fix all of the issues. They are a very honest shop. This all happened in the month before my wedding and they made it affordable and flexible. Multiple times my car had an issue right before a major trip from Northern California to Southern California. M45 fixed my car in time for all of my trips and wedding events. Highly recommend this shop. read more

I'm so happy I listened to my friend who referred me to the guys at M45 Automotive. So impressed! Again! The folks at M45 are the best. Went in because I was hearing some strange noises when I made a hard turn. Troy wrote me up and I got a call a couple hours later with the assessment. Mind you this is a 2002 vehicle so there is stuff. They could have put me in for a *lot* of work and I would not be any the wiser but it turned out that the problem was really just minor and not a safety issue. Will it have to be fixed eventually? Sure. But not right now. He gave me a detailed rundown of all the issues with the car but none required immediate services. Additionally he provided a very detailed written (with pics even) of all the service points that will need attention eventually. I can now plan for the maintenance according to finances and time. Of course I will be taking it back to them for these items as time and $ allows. If you have a Subaru (even if it is not a high-performance one), this is the place to go. Thank you to Troy and everyone at M45. read more

First off I need to say if you have a Subaru there is only one spot you should bring your car to and it's here!! Seth and his technicians are very knowledgeable and treat you with the upmost respect. Few months ago I had a check engine light on my 2016 Subaru WRX STI and at the time I had Elk Grove Subaru take a look at my vehicle. After so many trips back and forth over at EG Subaru with them not being able to diagnose the check engine light and getting the total run around; I was done! I was recommended to go to M45 and the first day I dropped it off they solved my check engine light and took care of other issues with the vehicle that EG Subaru did not bother to tell me or even notice these issues. M45 is an honest shop that values your business. They are definitely worth the drive from Elk Grove! Thank you guys for your quality of service and for all your help. You guys are the only shop that will work on our Subaru! read more
