Came here for dinner yesterday. Overall, I had a really pleasant experience.
Service was good. I saw some reviews stating that it wasn't the best, but our waitress was attentive and helpful.
I started off with their version of an old fashioned. I can't find it listed on their online drinks menu, but it was on the menu in the restaurant. It had absinthe in it. It was fine, but absinthe is a very strong flavor, so if you're not a fan of it, you probably shouldn't get it. I don't think the absinthe really added much to the cocktail overall.
Let's talk about the food. I think overall, the appetizers outshine the entrees.
_ tuna crudo came with 4 pieces. The fish was fresh and had a nice chew. Nicely presented and had a nice refreshing sauce as the base. If you like sashimi, definitely worth getting.
_ chickpea panisse was a VERY NICE surprise. We had no idea what to expect, but when it came out, we thought they were fried pieces of tofu haha. The inside was creamy but held its shape together very well. There was also a very generous amount and the dipping sauce was paired very well too. Strongly recommend getting this for the table.
_ agnolotti was another winner for our table. They are basically ravioli and the sauce it was served with was outstanding. Another strong recommendation.
_ flatbread was the clear winner for the group. It was so good that we got a second order of it. With that being said, truffle is a very strong flavor, so if you're not a fan of it, you might want to reconsider getting this. It also has shiitake mushrooms, and they were perfect on the flatbread. If you're looking for the ONE thing you absolutely must order, this one is it.
_ bang island mussels was also really good. The mussels had very generous pieces of... mussels in their shells. They were soft and paired nicely with the sauce and the grilled bread. Dip the bread in the sauce, and put some of the mussel meat on the bread, and you whoo. Quite good.
_ prawns with farro risotto was good, but like I mentioned earlier, the appetizers outshine the entrees. The farro was al dente which was actually a pleasant surprise because most restaurant risottos have a very soft chew. Risotto should actually have a slightly firm bite (similar to al dente pasta). The prawns came head-on, which was fine. They were very, very crispy which I enjoyed. I think most people are intimidated by shrimp/prawn heads, but I've eaten stranger things lol, so it didn't bother me at all. The prawn heads were actually quite tasty and full of flavor.
You can also tell that the risotto was made with seafood broth. The flavor was VERY strong. Maybe a little too strong for my taste, but still good. I think I would've liked it more if the seafood taste was a little more subtle.
_ my bf got the georgia trout. He said it was okay. I had a bite of it and I think it was perfectly cooked and the puree was nice too, but overall felt a little basic, at least compared to my dish.
They opened in January, and our waitress said they plan on changing the menu in the next few weeks due to bringing on a new chef. I certainly think it's worth trying at least once. Since our experience was good, and with a new chef coming, I wouldn't hesitate coming back. But please keep the flatbread dish lol. read more
