And it's also true, when they saw me sitting outside reading, they brought over water and left the pitcher, in case I wanted more. And that's a good profile for what this place is all about. Out of this matchbox size kitchen they produce the most amazing food. When you go, they will tell you the French toast takes a little longer. What they don't say is: it comes after everyone has eaten. So consider it your desert. Meanwhile share what everyone else orders. Lisa talks about the Turkish eggs..... 'So flavorful, so special". Cara says: " I saw someone else eating the French toast and I didn't like what it looks like. But" she continues "it is really good". Lisa and Debby talk about the portions being small, but they also say: "Even though the bowls are small, with the avocado and bread, it's very filling". Cara says: "The bread if so nice and stretchy". "Exquisite" says Lisa. As she tastes we hear her say: "Oh my god, oh my god". "Nothing is overly sweet" says Debby. All I can say is AMAZING. Amazing staff ALL AROUND. Amazing food! Even the chef was so welcoming and introduced himself. From the moment we arrived they were so accommodating with our little one. I was pretty excited to try this place and came here to have brunch on a Wednesday. They have a waitlist system and the wait wasn't too long. We had a party of 3 and they tried to fit us into one tiny round table but we asked to sit at a square one instead. I believe it's only patio seating and but overall, it's a pretty small venue. Only street parking is available but I didn't have any issue with finding a spot. I wanted to try their most popular items so we ordered the Turkish eggs, Spanish French toast, halibut ceviche, and their porridge with shrimp added on. We also ordered 2 drinks, the scarlet and the Kyushu. The drinks were given to the wrong table at first but they were just ok. The Turkish Eggs includes 2 poached eggs on top of some yogurt, herbs, chili garlic and it was served with some buttered sourdough toast. It was pretty delicious and I definitely recommend it. The spring porridge consists of buckwheat, mushroom, spring vegetables, green garlic, poached egg, parmesan and we had some shrimp on the side. It was a hearty dish that was flavorful and creamy. The French toast was pretty to look at but it wasn't to my liking. It wasn't too sweet but nothing to write home about. I also never got a chance to try the ceviche since it didn't come out even though it was confirmed when the waitress repeated our order back to us. I gave them the benefit of the doubt but it was charged on our bill. I'm not usually one to look at the receipt but good thing we checked. This is my favorite place to eat a meal. I will take this place over any fancy dinner place. The French Toast is exquisite each time I've had it, yet it changes in flavor slightly each season. Shakshuka or Turkish Eggs are the best I've had. I always get this with steak and it makes it that much more flavorful. My husband had the porridge with shrimp. I was worried because it was a little bowl but it filled him up. It was also delicious.My 10 year old had the Duck Confit with 5 spice. Not gonna lie, I was also worried I would have to give up my Turkish Eggs because she'd find the 5-spice too strong, but she gobbled all of it up including the pickled radish. I am certain I just opened up my kiddos flavor palate and it makes me so happy. Sometimes filling does not equal large portions. I'm so grateful this restaurant exists. It's leagues ahead of other breakfast/lunch restaurants. The dishes are sophisticated and highlight local ingredients. Prices are high but worth it for a such a special meal. The French toast takes over 24 hours to make and it's incredible. The portion is large so you can easily split it with someone or just order it for the table if you're with a group. My mom and I went for a late birthday celebration and absolutely loved it. We were on the waitlist but got there right when it opened. It's located in a nice spot on the 101 and parking is no problem but we walked there so we were fine either way. Let me start by saying the food is amazing! However I had booked a table for 12 people, a month prior to my lunch - for my 65 th birthday Party. I confirmed the time/ table etc. prior to the event. To make sure we would be seated in a timely manner. (The restaurant only has one large table that accommodates bigger groups. It is not a large space.) As I arrived at 11:45 to 'set up' for my guests- another group of 10 was seated at the large table. I immediately commented to the manager- who brushed me off and said they would seat my party soon. Well the bottom line was we were seated at 12:30... in a small cramped space - not meant for 12. I was really dissatisfied / upset with the way the booking was handled. Finally got to check this spot out! Michelin vibes in a laidback atmosphere. Highlights were the Turkish eggs (sauce was incredible and they give you extra bread!), Halibut Crudo, and ended the service with the most delicious panna cotta. Why is it so hard to find a good breakfast brunch spot? This is it!!! It's super cute, the food is fantastic and the service is wonderful. I have been wanting to try this spot since it opened but had been unable to until today. I went by myself and was seated instantly, but beware the wait can be long because it's very small. They have a QR code you can scan to be put on the waitlist. Super easy. There is no parking lot so don't park in the lot next door even if your gps tells you to like mine did. My server was very nice and offered me different choices of water to start. Then he left me to review the menu but told me Turkish eggs was the top seller. I already knew that's what I wanted but everything else sounds great too. He checked in regularly. He knows the menu and can explain everything in such detail that you want it all. My food came relatively quick and it was a beautiful presentation. Poached eggs over greek yogurt with herbs, spices, oil with a little kick to it. And crusty bread slices from praeger bros I believe. I see why this is the top seller. It's so so flavorful. When I finished a line was forming. After securing a parking spot in close proximity to the restaurant, we first noticed the huge amount of partons waiting to dine, and were informed that the wait would be an hour. Submitted my name, and we were off to find a relaxing place to sit and a great cup of coffee. Approximately 45 minutes later I received a text that a table was open, and we were greeted by a very friendly waitress with a huge smile upon arrival. Our table was adjacent to the sidewalk, and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant was beachy, hipster-like, with a 70's vibe. After a quick look at the menu, we selected the Turkish Eggs, French Toast, and two cocktails. The food was very delicious and the service was extremely refreshing. By far the best brunch I have ever had in my entire life and the service was incredible. We joined the waitlist at 8:32 (the waitlist opens 30 minutes before opening on the weekends) and we were already 11th in line on the waitlist! We were sat pretty quickly within 5-7 minutes of the restaurant opening, so not a long wait at all. Others who joined the waitlist several groups after us had a longer wait, so definitely get on the waitlist early. One of the servers asked us if we had been there before and when we said we hadn't, he went through the entire menu for us. Super cordial and nice and very welcoming. I ordered the Karachi tonic and my husband ordered black coffee. The tonics are AMAZING. Definitely flavors I would never think of pairing together but super delicious. The menu is small and for good reason. So many great options to choose from. We went with the Torrija - Spanish French toast and the Turkish eggs and let me tell you, it was the best French toast I have ever eaten. It had the perfect blend of sweetness and the savoriness of the sourdough. The French toast is definitely big enough to feed two people, so bring someone along that also has an appetite! The Turkish eggs were savory and seasoned perfectly and the toast accompanying them was the perfect combo. We can't wait to go back and try the other items on the menu. Such a great experience. The high price didn't match the flavor. However, my biggest issue was the amount of flies we had to constantly shoo away. It's a smaller space so they only have outdoor seating, but I had to cover up my food with a napkin each time I chewed so as to not worry about any landing on my food. I understand it's only outdoor seating and it's hard to control the amount of flies outside but something has to be done to keep them away from the diners and their food. This is my hands down my favorite breakfast restaurant in San Diego County. I have brought multiple friends and they have been pleasantly impressed. My favorite dishes that I highly recommend are the French Toast, I miss the strawberry French toast. I haven't seen in the menu but I got in two times in a row because I loved it so much. Crisp edges sautéed in brown butter and sugar, delicious farm to table strawberries and a strawberry cream. My second favorite dish is the Turkish eggs, lots of different flavors and herbs. My friends have gotten the breakfast sandwich and they loved it! Once we got lucky and they had a special mole, steak and eggs. It was DELICIOUS- I will never forget this dish . We truly miss the oatmeal dish, we beg they bring it back. The vibes at this restaurant are great, beach laid back but the food is gastronomical with a modern twist. A culinary experience and I'm really happy with what the chefs are bringing to North County. Went here for the first (and last) time for my 60th Bday. It was supposed to be a special occasion and my friend was paying. I ordered some black tea with milk. Before the tea was brought, the server tried to convince me to drink it without milk and I just politely smiled and said sure. When the tea arrived it was clear-- so I asked if it was a mistake because I ordered black tea. The server assured me that was the black tea and then went on to scold me saying that they had to do training to brew the tea just right and that's the way it's supposed to be and if I want he can let the tea sit for 24 hours and be full of tannins and .... This place is the new hot spot after SD eater did a spotlight on them. All seating is outdoor patio, so it's perfect to go in the summer and it's so close to the beach. It's a very small spot so I definitely recommend joining the online wait-list. We joined the online wait-list and honestly waited for almost 2 hrs. It might be different if you go in person though. I'm not sure. The staff are all super friendly and easy to talk to. They know a lot about their menu and seem to take pride in their work. I recommend the Turkish eggs a ton. They're delicious and very well done. They're a little messy to eat, but it's a good way to start the day. The halibut ceviche was super fresh and well balanced with flavors. The spiral radish topping is good but difficult to eat gracefully. We also just ate it on its own so if you want something more filling then see if you can add bread or something. It's a good sharing dish. The breakfast sandwich had a lot of ham on it, which is a pro and con. Unfortunately it made the sandwich WAY too salty. The arugula wasn't enough to cut the salt. Lastly, the tonics were really tasty. They do non-alcoholic tonics that have really cool flavors blended together. Scarlett is most popular and if you like sweet and chocolatey then it's your drink. The indigo was also sweet but has a great tartness to balance the drink. I will sadly say on our recent visit this past week, my girlfriend and I were a bit put off by the rush to depart. I completely understand it is a small restaurant, with limited seating, especially given how busy they are. We were not even finished with our meal and asked if we wanted our check. This alone does not sound offensive, however, in the moment, it was. We are definitely in tune and respectful of those waiting, however, were both shocked. We were planning to order a plum bread, but opted not to given the rush to leave. We also had the breakfast sandwich, which I personally wasn't a huge fan of. It was comparable to any other sandwich I've ever had. I'm not a big sandwich person either so, if you don't love sandwiches, you can afford to skip it. We also got the famous sourdough french toast. It was huge.
