It's our first time at the rooftop. We decided to go at happy hour. It wasn't very busy there were four people at the bar, but it was difficult to get the bartenders's attention. The atmosphere is very nice. They have beautiful chandeliers as you walk up stairs to the bar . The Brussel sprouts were not crispy and they were also dry was hoping for a little more sauce or seasoning. The pan sea scallops with the forbidden rice was delicious I would order that again . The scallops were tasty and done perfect. I really enjoyed this meal.. The gnocchi with the roasted pork was dry and very dense the pasta wasn't pillow like. The reason why I'm giving it 3 Stars is because the service wasn't very good. It was very disappointing to be sitting at the bar trying to get the( bartenders ) attention through my whole meal. read more

So bad. This place is local and we've been to @theBarn. So figured it was worth a shot. First impression, lot of money went into the establishment. Similar to @theBarn. But where @theBarn was always a little pricey, this place has lost their damn minds. 17$ for a hamburger, no fries. Was only looking for a couple of apps while wife was hungry for a rice bowl. Figured that lunch time wasnt too busy and worth the time to check the place out. Wife's meat was 90% fat. it was disgusting to look at. She was pulling it apart with her utensils looking for meat. There was a 2nd slice of meat, and I was thinking maybe they could exchange the meat out, but the next one was only marginally better. It is literally like you saw a piece of meat and cut off the 2" of fat and then said. Oh well, I'll just cook this. They're stupid enough to pay $20 for rice, Im sure they wont notice. I had ordered the shrimp spring rolls which, barely had a scent of shrimp. There were no discernable pieces of shrimp. I had almost gotten the $8 vegetable spring rolls, but said, lets see what they do for $12. Not much is the answer. I had ordered a 2nd app, but honestly it was so mediocre, I cant even recall it. I think I only drank water, but my wife's mojito seemed to be a virgin, she is a lightweight and had no reaction to having the drink and no food all day because no, she was not eating that. I did share my apps, since I wasnt hungry. But we were planning where to go next for food in the middle of our meal. The rooftop is nice, they put in good planning for the lighting, outdoor heating, seating and shading. But at the end of the day, you are in a parking lot. For the building and the pricing, it feels like there should be a lake to view, or even a field. But no, thats an 18 wheeler backing into ACE hardware right next to my table. Whats that smell? Oh look a garbage truck turning around. Is that a police car? oh yes, theres route 44 to our left, so relaxing. If you want to over-pay, there are better places to do it within 2 miles. This place is the typical, "I had one restaurant work, so I know what Im doing" feel. Most likely this one will drag down the chain. It took them forever to build this place and if you'd like to help them get their investment back while being served food I wouldnt give to my dog, you get what you get. read more

It was my first time visiting At the Rooftop. It is fast becoming my son and daughter-in-law's favorite restaurant and I can see why. The sushi offerings are vast. We did not eat outside as it was a very cool evening however, there are many rooms and cozy spaces to choose from. We shared a rooftop roll, shrimp spring rolls, and crispy brussels sprouts to start. All were delicious. Dinners included, salmon, a salad, chicken milanasia and the gnocchi. I did feel like the gnocchi needed a little salt and pepper. We had a wonderful time and plan to return again. I would highly recommend it. read more

The biggest downside was the service, waitress disappeared, couldn't get drink refills including water. Had to flag down the manager, he was uninspired, he had to get the check for us too. Brunch At the Rooftop was fantastic! Great service and the omelettes were fluffy and delicious. Husband had the meat lover's omelette, and ai had the Western omelette. We loved how fluffy and light the omelettes were, with just the right amount of ingredients. Many places use too much cheese but not here - it was just the right amount to be flavorful without overpowering the rest of the ingredients. Also, the reward program is terrific...we've had dinner here three times and that accumulated enough credit to pay for our brunch which came to $34 for two people. Highly recommend! read more

Just was driving by and we were hungry and stopped. Beautiful day and our food was great. Waitress (Amelia) was wonderful and manager came by to check on us. Mixed review on this one! We walked in looking to sit at the bar and grab a few drinks and maybe an app or two. The hostess said we would have to wait because there was a reservation that wanted to sit at the bar (we assumed the bar was first come first serve). Then the hostess took us to the bar, we had four people and two of us sat, two of us stood which was no issue at all. The bartenders were stressseddddd. Service bar tickets were non stop printing and there were only two bartenders to service all the bar stools and make drinks for the entire restaurant. Our bartender was fine, she wasn't very friendly or talkative but understandably so, I wouldn't have time for that if I was in her position either. I ordered a lychee martini (on the menu, it lists "white rum, lychee liqueur, lime juice) and it was a flop IMO. They shouldn't call it a lychee martini if it doesn't taste like lychee (it tasted like dragonberry bacardi) and is garnished with a lime. I told her I was all set with it and ordered a corona and she took the martini off the bill without question and without me asking. We ordered sushi and probably waited around an hour. The sushi was fine, just like any other restaurant. Nothing to write home about. The bartender thanked us for our patience. It seemed like kitchen food was coming out much quicker. Honestly, the menu is absolutely bonkers and takes you in a million directions. Seems like they are trying to do every cuisine possible to market to every possible customer. I get weary when places have too big/too many mixes of cuisines on the menu but I can't speak to anything besides the sushi and the poke which was fine. The decor is amazing and the building is beautiful. They did a great job! The TVs were playing the background Google photos the whole time which I thought was a bit weird. It's still in the opening weeks so I'm sure they'll figure it out. TLDR: it's fine. Expect to wait a while for food in a very well decorated and designed restaurant. I would shy away from the premium cocktails and go with your regular choice. Don't expect to have an "experience" as the wait staff is overwhelmed and doesn't have time to act like anything other than a service robot. Pros: Beautiful design/decor, which goes a long way because it's what you'll have to be focused on while you wait endlessly for a pair of baby fist sized tacos that lack a lick of flavor. Sorry, the chicken did have a flavor - a mix bath soap and bleach. The patio looked great 9 tables back from the main dining room though. Hopefully someday I'll get to sit on it. Cons: kitchen and bar staff need to pick up the pace. Management should not overbook if they can't keep up. Maybe throw Oppenheimer on the big screen if you expect customers to sit on their hind parts for 3 hours while they hopelessly wait for a morsel of food. I'd stay away from anything on the menu other than the sushi. My old lady let me try one of her rolls(relax) and that was the only highlight in an otherwise frustrating experience. read more

My husband and I took one of our teenage boys here for the first time for a birthday dinner. We enjoyed it so much and loved the diverse menu. We decided to return the next week with our other teenage son so he too could enjoy the experience. We are all sushi lovers and the sushi here is truly amazing. In total we tried 6 different specialty rolls and a shrimp tempura roll. Each one a unique delightful taste on the palette and beautifully displayed. Not into sushi? Have a steak, the NY strip was cooked to perfect temperature and was delicious, as was the gnocchi special on the menu one night. Their raw bar oysters are fresh and succulent. Everything the four of us tasted, from the spinach and artichoke dip to the entrees was excellent. Let's talk about the service. We were welcomed immediately upon entry with smiles and seated immediately with our reservation on a Saturday and on a non-busy weeknight. Each night we had Blake as our server who was absolutely amazing. Knowledgable on the menu, attentive to our needs the entire time, enjoyable to chat with, and he made the evening more enjoyable for sure. Thank you Blake. They also had a gentleman roaming the room refilling water and taking away empty plates which I found to be a very nice touch. The ambiance on the rooftop deck is really lovely. Patio was nice and shady since the view faces east which nice. The inside of the restaurant looks great and is quite big. The food was very good; I had the house salad with swordfish shish kabob. Delicious. My only disappointment was the strawberry lemonade cocktail with vodka. Very bland. No flavor and not tart at all. We didn't even stay to order. The service was horrible! While we were seated quickly, the staff totally forgot about us. We tried flagging down a server or 2 but we weren't in their section. After 20 min of just sitting there with no water service or anything, our party of three got up and left. On the way out the servers just smiled "bye ". We politely informed them that no one had actually said "hi". As we were leaving and told the hostess what happened...she just stared at us blankly. This was during off hours. This place is beautiful and the servers are awesome. Unfortunately the food is just ok and doesn't compare to other restaurants in the valley. I've had multiple dishes. The brisket and chicken tacos were bland. Our dinner companions on several occasions were also under impressed. Tonight I had an Asian crispy chicken wrap with hand cut fries. The fries were great. The chicken in the wrap was overcooked and dry. If it had some more dressing or wet slaw it might have saved it. My wife had Caesar salad which was under dressed with tiny croutons and the mahi tacos were flavorless and overcooked. We keep coming back hoping things will improve food-wise. They have a beautiful restaurant but need to pick up the flavor on the food side. His other restaurants seem to have tastier offerings. read more

I know that this is their soft opening, but we were there over 2 hours and got no food! We left when we were finally told that our food should be ready in about 30 more minutes. We were there with children and they were getting very hungry. The server tried his best to help, but the manager was very harried and handled the situation poorly. The first time we went, shortly after it opened it definitely seemed like the kinks were still being worked out (length of time getting food and app coming with the main course). Now after giving the place another try a couple of months later, it appears the kinks have still yet to be worked out. Where do I start?? To keep it short, the bartender upstairs (Friday night) was not too tentative upon sitting down. After ordering our drinks, app and dinner, the drinks came (martini about 3/4 full).... waited quite some time for the seafood martini to arrive and never came. We finally asked and bartender said the calamari right and we said no the the seafood martini so again we waited a while, and finally someone showed up with no less the calamari and then we waited again for a while for the seafood martini. So we received calamari WITH our dinner which was wrong and we wanted the seafood martini beforehand. And then asked for another drink and the bartender didn't even ask my boyfriend what he would like and just assumed he wanted the same drink. To top it off the check came with the calamari on the check that we didn't even order. Def need a better bartender who is more attentive. Could have been a better experience. Just shameful! We had a 6:30 reservation last night and stood at the entrance for about 40 minutes (we arrived early) with a line going out the door because the staff was taking at least 10-15 minutes to check in each guest. Once we were finally able to check in we were told they didn't have our table (we reserved the outdoor rooftop) and they sat us downstairs at the bar. We sat there an additional 15 minutes or so and never even got water. We decided to leave but I first let the staff know what a disappointment this was. To this, they said they would seat us upstairs where the service was quicker so we decided to give it one more try. We went upstairs, where they still didn't seat us at the outdoor table we initially reserved. They told me they didn't take reservations for those tables - they were first come first served, which is categorically untrue because I specifically selected one of those tables while making my reservation. Also, how is a restaurant called AT THE ROOFTOP not going to accept reservations for one of their rooftop tables?!?!?!?! Anyway, we sat upstairs for about another hour and GOT NO FOOD. I finally received one cocktail that was missing ingredients altogether (the menu said it had fresh basil and there was none). I asked about it and they sent over another one that was basically just soda water with basil in it. All told, after about an hour and half past our initial reservation time, we still hadn't eaten, and left for good. On our way out, the line out the door was growing still and spilling into the parking lot because of how inefficient they are. Key takeaways from our experience: -You will not get the table you reserved -You will not eat -The drinks will be bad if you even get them -You're lucky to be given water -You will be there a VERY long time read more

The place is very pretty and servers were all very nice. The food was not. The artichoke dip was not mixed at all and the pita chips were obnoxiously salty. The scallops and risotto was also overly salty with no other flavor. The risotto was inedible salty and we left it unfinished (with no questions about why... 'was everything okay' was not asked). The sushi (crunchy pink lady) was meh... without the ginger or wasabi, it'd have no flavor. The sushi at Whole Foods is better. (That's disappointing to even write......) We considered dessert but everything was just so...ick... we decided to just call it a meal and end the experience. When we first sat, I ordered a strawberry limeade and it was wonderful! Then later, I got another because the was so good and that one was awful. Before the check came, I asked which one was the way it's supposed to be. I was informed that the bartenders all have their own way of making the drinks. (This was a menu item... there's no recipe????) I like to let service shine, so I didn't request anything be done to rectify the situation, but nothing was offered.. no new drink and it was not removed from the check even though I clearly took two sips. The risotto was not removed or reduced from the check either even though two bites were taken. So, the tip left was reduced by the amount of the drink ($7) and we just won't be back. They got $114 of our money and that will be that. I'd read the bad reviews but really thought it was because it was new. They've been open a while now and it's just not good. We're locals and wanted to support this place and like it. So it's just disappointing all around. We'll drive down to the shore to get a good meal... read more

The remodel restaurant is beautiful! The place was jumping when we got there and as a result with the crowd, the service was slow. We ordered an assortment of sushi appetizers and rolls and the food was very good. The vodka and tonic gin and tonic and Manhattan that we ordered were not very good. The tonic water was flat and the Manhattan taste soapy. I would suggest ordering some of their IPA beers. The upstairs is very noisy so I would also suggest eating downstairs if you prefer it a little quieter. We will go back after they work out the kinks in this new restaurant.. read more

It was our first time here today, and definitely will be our last time. We've ordered calamari and pork belly bites for appetizers. They were both overwhelming salty. Then we've ordered three different house special sushi. I'm not sure how it was possible, but I found out today, that my love for sushi have been destroyed. All the rolls we've ordered were fishy, and overwhelming sweet with whatever sauce they've drizzled on top. Then I've ordered the risotto with seared scallops. Let's just say we've definitely overpaid for this undercooked and bland dish. My partner ordered the steak. Oh goodness... it was overly salty!! I have been warned by friends that this place was disappointing. However we've chosen to come here to have our own experience. Unfortunately, it was a 2/10 for us. The staffs were great! Unfortunately, all four of our party were disappointed in the experience. We had heard good things and were looking forward to dining here. The restaurant is very nice but no privacy at all between tables . Others eavesdropping on our conversations was very obvious. The first turn off was our waitress with her unsanitary practice. She picked up each of our glasses by the rim (where our lips will touch to drink) and filled the water with the pitcher also touching our glasses. She did this every time she refilled our drinks and also observed her doing the same with other tables around us. That is just so unsanitary and we know she doesn't wash her hands while waiting tables. Basically, transferring everyone's germs around to everyone's drinking glasses. She was very pleasant. The appetizers were sushi and tempura shrimp, both delicious and presented well. All four entrees were very disappointing. The chicken Milanasia was beautifully served but the chicken was so overcooked the ends were too hard to chew and the overall breading was burnt. The mahi burger with hand cut fries looked and tasted like frozen shoestring fries. The brisket entree was mediocre. The kabob was good. Our impression was this restaurant may cater and be better for sushi as the appetizers were great but the entrees were a disappointment. read more
