Tables were filthy, we spent half our dinner herding our plates and drinks around the table due to how out of level it was. We went to Asuka for dinner tonight for Hibachi. I had the Filet Mignon and my wife had the Hibachi Chicken. Our experience was very good. The food was delicious, for the most part. The steak and chicken were great, as was the fried rice. The vegetables were okay, with an abundance of onions. The salad, for me, was the greatest letdown. The ginger dressing had a funny taste, like it was Italian dressing with ginger added, instead of a genuine ginger dressing. Overall, this was a great experience and expect to return soon! read more

Despite reading the bad reviews, we went anyway at 11:30 on a Sunday. And then we truly understand these bad reviews. Expensive. Bad service. Horrendous music. Bland food. We came in and there was barely anyone there, we stood there waiting for a while until 1 of only 2 servers working seated us. First off, the music playing was strictly from early mid 2000s, mostly rap & hip-hop. It took our server almost 10 minutes to even greet us at the table and to get our drink orders. My boyfriend had ordered sweet tea, and he did get it, but she refilled it later with unsweet. We'd picked out our orders, but little did we know that you client order LUNCH during LUNCH time on Sundays, only dinner. So went from ordering $15 meals to $25 meals. We told her we weren't ready to order if that was the case. I ordered chicken & veg fried rice. You'd expect the rice, chicken, and veggies to be fried together? Nope. They steam the veggies and just stick them over the rice and chicken, leaving them soft and flavorless. Also wasn't expecting mushrooms in this dish. I could've made better myself. First time at Asuka after looking for nearby Hibachi options. Friendly staff and relatively quick seating for my family (you can choose regular booth seating or Hibachi table). The Chef (Robin I believe) was very entertaining for the kids during the preparation and performed a number of tricks with the utensils/ingredients. Went here one Sunday for lunch and they seated us at a hibachi table that had not been cleaned well the night before. We looked at the table next to us, and it was just as poorly cleaned. So while my companions dined on food cooked on the not-really-that-clean hibachi table, I ordered sushi. It was fine; I wasn't expecting anything great in Spring Hill, and I certainly didn't get it. Asuka is apparently great for groups. Haven't done that yet but there is a good funny waiter named "Baba San" who is supposed to be the most entertaining for the hibachi. If hibachi is not your style, there is a small sushi bar seating area and plenty of booths as well. I had the sushi/8 pc. nigiri combo dinner, $14, comes with miso and salad, all well appointed. My girlfriend had the glazed chicken, which was well-textured with chewy soft center and crisp exterior. The sauce on the chicken was very sweet and the wreath of steamed broccoli was a welcome cleanser. That dish is about $12 and includes steamed rice. The portions are Spring Hill sized, so don't worry about ordering extras. We finished with green tea ice cream. It came with two nice spherical scoops and had a very creamy/buttery taste. read more

I've read some other reviews and agree to an extent. Here's the deal, if you want a "better" hibachi or sushi, you can drive to Nashville and goto Kobe or Goten...or Cool Springs and eat at Omikoshi or Shogun. Calling a spade, a spade, Asuka is a fun Hibachi for kids. Is the food 5star, no...but, where in Spring Hill is? I contend that if you're going to a hibachi, then part of what you're paying for is to be entertained. The gentlemen we've had each time have made the kiddos smile...and the adults. If Asuka was in Nashville or Cool Springs, it would be a 3 star....but it isn't. We like going here, I'm not sure why other than it is somewhat close to our house. They don't have the best Sushi and hibachi in town. Their prices are a bit high without a coupon. Service isn't great. It's like Denny's, You end up there and you're not sure why. When you leave you're not upset that you went, you're just not sure you would come back. Great place to bring the kids! They have a great staff and both hibachi and sushi are excellent. It's a nice bonus to always have leftovers to eat the next day. And, perhaps most importantly, they have "yum yum" sauce...great for dipping and for salads. We always get yum yum on the salad. One thing they could do better is the miso soup but everything else is awesome. read more

It was our first time dining here we brought a friend with us the prices were reasonable the place was nice but halfway through dinner I saw a cockroach! I tried to knock it off the table then I saw a second one I lost my appetite and felt embarrassed and didn't say anything to my husband or our guest. Me and my family walked in tonight and wanted amongst about 15 other people none of us were ever greeted or Acknowledged after ten minutes of standing around I saw a server and walked up to her saying we had not seen anyone since we arrived. She said she would go and grab someone, we waited another 5 min and someone walked up to the host stand but picked something up and never said a word to anyone standing around. We ended up leaving shortly after and called to speak to a manager. I called several times before someone picked up and I was hung up on about 6 times and 2 of them the manager hung up on me in the middle of the conversation. The chef was great! He was hilarious and one of the best we've had at a hibachi. The chicken was very good and the yum yum sauce had a little kick that was really good. The problem we had was when it was time to get the bill no one was coming with the check. We waited forever for the bill but it never came. After about 30 minutes of waiting we got up to ask for the check and it didn't come, again we went to find someone for the check and it came but we were told by the waitress that the card system wasn't working. This is an issue that I know is out of their control but nobody came and told us. They just avoided us and hoped we didn't complain. I again got up and told our waitress that we needed to leave and she couldn't help us. We went to the manager and she acknowledged they had a problem but then walked away from me. I understand that there's a problem but the manager wasn't trying to rectify it. She was just working like normal. If it were me I'd be on the phone with the company running the POS trying to fix the problem. They had a full restaurant and no way for anyone to pay with a card. In conclusion, I would've been fine if they had come and said they were having a problem and had a solution to it but the fact that we were avoided over and over and spent more than 2.5 hours there waiting really turned us off. If you are going to charge $50 for a meal worth $20, the least you could do is put a modicum of effort into making your staff appear they give a darn. From the scowling "hostess" who flopped two menus down on the table and mumbled something (could you maybe fake a smile since we are there to spend money), to the stacks of rolled up napkins, plastic bags , styrofoam take-out containers pilled at one end of the Sushi bar, across from where we were seated, the place unfortunately screamed "we've given up". Or perhaps it is the clientele of Spring Hill who don't care, IDK. Three different servers attempted to take our order which was confusing. Also, here's a tip to the servers, when a menu falls on the floor from the giant pile stacked at the other end of the sushi bar, you might consider wiping it off since it will be placed on someone's table. I've been a repeat Asuka customer since it opened. The sushi is excellent & the Hibachi is amazing. The atmosphere is perfect for date night or just casual dining. As with most Japanese steakhouses the price can be on the high side of moderate but if you get there for lunch or sushi happy hour you can save a few bucks. Our typical bill is $40 for three people with tip and no bar drinks. They do offer mixed drinks, beer and an adequate selection of wines if that's your thing. We typically sit in the general dining area, but if you're looking to entertain a group, the hibachi tables are the ticket! read more

This used to be mine and my husbands' date night spot. In the last few (3-4) times we have went the server forgot our soup and salads. Since we are only two we get scooted off to the side that's not a good view of the few measly tricks. The servings have became smaller and smaller. I cannot begin to speak of the level of disappointment I have regarding Asuka. This place used to care, it was the best option/value for hibachi for miles (it's 23 miles from my house!). Now it reeks of the tell tale signs of a dying business...short-staffed; slow, complacent servers; dirty dishes all over the place; and not one staff member seems to care. This episode begins with a 13 minute wait at the door before being greeted (the only reason we stayed is because we didn't want to hear it from our six year old). After being greeted and seated (open hibachi tables abound!), add another 16 minutes before our drink order was taken. Our flattop grill was dirty from previous use (wth?). Another 9 minutes and we got to order our standard filet/chicken/extra fried rice; this is the reason we come--the food is usually top notch. In the infinite chasm of 23 minutes more before the chef arrived, I had already decided this was my last visit. Soup-fairly good; salad-nothing special; rice and vegetables-good; filet/chicken-very good. So as expected, the food was good overall, but we spent $80, spent an hour and thirty minutes, and felt ignored the entire time we were there. There are plenty of ways to blow money and time, going forward Asuka won't be one of them. If you like being ignored, then this place is for you! read more

My friend and I went to Asuka tonight, Friday, at 6 p.m. and were sat immediately. Our drink order and dinner order were taken promptly. We received our drinks and salads and then we waited. We continued to wait, and wait, and wait. Our glasses became empty and finally the chef arrived. He was entertaining and the food was good. We ordered the filet and chicken. Both were cooked perfectly but the vegetables were too salty. The portion size was plenty. After he left we waited some more. The couple next to us was in great need of a refill. They asked several passing servers to no avail. We watched as the manager/head of the dining room took her time setting places at two of the Hibachi tables ignoring our cries for attention. Eventually a waiter showed up with a pitiful scoop of melted ice cream that neither of us ate. We went to the front were the hostess ignored us. We finally stood in her way saying we wanted to pay so we could leave. We had been there almost two hours!!! She acted very annoyed that we wanted her assistance since she informed us that "that isn't what 'I' do". We were finally allowed to pay and left. I don't think I will go back. The dinner was good but not worth the hassle or the wait. If you go take a book as you will have plenty of time to read while you wait. read more

Not only did we wait for over 30 mins when we were told it would only be a 20 min wait, but then once we were seated there weren't enough seats for all the people they were trying to accommodate.
