Hibachi steak was overcooked, but not too dry, so I ate it anyways. Not really sure what that soup supposed to be, but it tasted like city water to me and the salad was bland. I ordered mine to go - had a drink at the bar- and had to keep asking when it would be ready because 45 minutes later and two drinks at the bar for an appetizer and a roll of sushi to go seemed exceedingly long. After my first visit to Asuka I was just not blown away- the best way to put it would be, there was nothing really remarkable or special about this place. I went there for lunch on a Sunday. There were plenty of tables available and so service was relatively fast. Compared with a few Japanese restaurants I like in Nashville and Murfreesboro, this place does not seem to offer entirely authentic Japanese cuisine- it doesn't mean the food doesn't taste good. It does. It's just that If you want authentic, I'd go somewhere else. I had chicken teriyaki, which came with loads of grilled onion beneath it. I had it with some fried rice. They were tardy, but not something That amazes me. On par with any other Japanese restaurants in Franklin/ Spring Hill area. Service was good, but one of the servers was wearing track pants which I thought was a little weird. Considering the price being on expensive side, I will probably not go back. There's not much in the way of Hibachi around the area, so we were excited to give this place a try. Sadly, it was a bust. To begin, everyone around our table got their soup and salad before us and it wasn't until the main hibachi meal was about to be cooked that we were able to catch the waitress to let her know. At that time she also let us know that our appetizer was on the way out as well. So we asked that it be canceled because we were about to start eating salads and our main course. Then, we told our waitress that one of the people in our party had a severe allergy to shrimp. She assured us that the food would not come in contact with shrimp... and then a whole tray of meat came out with shrimp on the same tray (for the other people that sat at the same hibachi table, not from our group). Long story short we asked for that meal to be taken off completely and it was quite the ordeal and a scene made by the waitress. The chef handled it very well, but the waitress was over the top making a big deal about the allergy. Lastly, we asked how to make sure the chef would get his cut of the tip and were told that the restaurant keeps all tips. The staff are paid a base hourly rate... this makes so much sense seeing as how the service and restaurant as a whole was such a failure. read more

Is there a way to give "0" stars? I have given this place 3 chances and no more. Absolutely horrible!!! The last time we went there it was for a Sunday lunch. We walked up and were the only ones waiting to be seated. It took 7 minutes and realized they have 4 tables with done plates and no one clearing the tables. I left at 8 minutes as the only ones in line but couldn't even sit down. Oh by the way the last two times we actually ate there....the food was not good and the service was terrible both times. All previous reviews of lackluster service are DEAD ON. I was seated quickly and my order was taken quickly. I received my food which was pretty good about a 6/10 it just lacked a lot of flavor it was plain. After I received my food I never saw my waiter again. No refill, no check ups, my fried rice never came out and I had to ask for it from the lady who came to give me my check. Food was decent but it was cancelled out by awful service. DO NOT EAT HERE.... We have a family member who has a deadly allergy to seafood. We made this known to the waiter and she informed us that all food would not be cooked or mixed with any seafood. They bring the food out to cook it and the shrimp was all over the chicken and steak we ordered. The chef was not made aware. We stepped aside and informed the waiter that we wanted to cancel the family members meal and she would just eat the rice. Instead of being apologetic for making the mistake, she comes and causes a scene with the chef. Completely unprofessional and she could care less if she has sent my step daughter to the hospital. Ambiance is consistent with what one would expect at a Hibachi chain. Low lighting and private rooms. The food isn't as high quality as Shogun, but it's decent. The prices are a little high for the comparable quality, however. The sushi was actually fresh fish and decent. The rolls were large but so were the prices. We didn't want HIbachi so we asked for a table and we're seated by a male server in the bar area. He took our drink order and didn't give his name. That was person #1. Person #2 took our food order, didn't get name. Person #3 brought us our appetizers. Person #4 brought our sushi. We had the most interaction with her. Person #1 again kept Serving the table behind us. We were 1 of 2 tables in the area. 20-25 minutes go by. No drink refills. No check. No "how are you guys doing." I finally flagged down person #4 in the Lobby. I said "we need a check and a to go bag. We found the to go boxes by the bar" 3 or 4 people kept coming in the bar and looking at us then tried to print a ticket. They had the wrong ticket and person #5 brought it over! I asked for a manager 3 times. Finally the manager came over who was person #2 and had been cooking hibachi. I got a 15% discount but will NOT be back. Food was good. My wife and I had read a few reviews about this place before we decided to come, but I wanted to make sure that I was unbiased as i tried it for myself. When we arrived, we were greeted by a host/server who was a little less than enthusiastic, but she was trying and who knows it could have been a rough day. We were then taken to our table and given menus, we were two of the 11 people in the restaurant. There was some mess under our table and the table top itself was sticky. We ordered drinks then took some time to browse the menu before ordering. We decided upon 3 rolls as we came for the sushi not the hibachi. 1. Red Dragon Roll 2. Orange Dragon Roll 3. Cream Cheese Ebi Roll 4. Miso soup and Ginger salad. (Our staples at each sushi place) The waitress (the same girl who sat us) was unaware there was even a menu item titled Orange Dragon Roll. The Miso soup was bad, it looked and tasted like water. The ginger salad was soaked in dressing. The Orange roll and Red roll were both very unpleasant and had ground up fish on top or inside of the roll, honestly I couldn't even tell you if it was fish, as the taste and texture were both very off. All of this said the Cream Cheese Ebi roll was delicious, the salmon was great, the shrimp had the perfect amount of tempura and the sauce was great. i use to really like this place, but last night my tempora seafood and veggie was terrible, but worst the place was freezing with my 91 yr old dad. non of us could take off our jackets or hats, and in his condition we could not go anywhere else. Last everyone ate and was done, i thought they forgot my dish and I did not care, i ate my wifes rice and I was fine. we are ready to leave and they bring me out my dish. they did not care, did not apologize, nothing. $207 for 5 down the drain. I am so glad we ignored previous reviews and tried this place out. We drove to Smyrna last time and were disappointed. This place was great! They had 2 options for soup, the one it's served with us the clear soup which is a broth with mushrooms and green onions (was delicious), they also substituted the clear soup with miso soup upon request (this was average miso soup-tasted like it may have wasabi in it, if you do not enjoy this flavor stick with clear soup). The ginger salad had a bit too much dressing and dressing was not the best- recommend requesting two soups instead of salad if you enjoy soup. Vegetables were good, fried rice was a little under flavored and next time we may request extra seasoning or sauce. Chicken and steak was phenomenal! Definitely recommend this place! Also, hours on yelp are incorrect they are open 4pm-10pm on Saturday nights. Also, all staff were wearing masks. Staff was friendly. Price was reasonable for a hibachi restaurant! read more

My husband and I tried this place as we wanted to support a local business. The service and food were both sloppy. Everything came out together even though we ordered it pretty far apart. We were never given plates or checked up on until it was time for the check. The decor is fairly dated and it feels like the place could use a good cleaning . I would go elsewhere. Poor experience. For starters, our drinks took a while to come out, it wasn't busy at all. Before we ordered our main course, I asked the server if they took shellfish allergies serious. (If not, it wouldn't have been a problem we would have just went somewhere else) but the server confirmed that the shellfish allergy would not be a problem to accommodate and that the cook would be notified to not bring shellfish out at all. About 20-25 minutes goes by and we still hadn't gotten our soup and salad Then the chef came out with all of the ingredients to cook in front of us, still without appetizers at this point. When the meat was getting put on the grill we notice that the shrimp, steak and chicken are all on one plate touching each other. So we inform the cook that I will not be eating that due to my allergy. The cook told us he was not informed that I even had an allergy. The drinks needed refills throughout dinner They still charged me for the rice that was on my plate. Even though I had eaten it before I knew the shellfish was going to contaminate my chicken and steak And found out the tips do not even go to the wait staff, the restaurant owner keeps them! And the wait staff and chefs get paid hourly. So no wonder no one gives a crap about service there. read more

Fir the price 70.00$ it wasn't as good as to go, and more expensive cause the drinks are 3.50$ and my Dr Pepper was flat.. my opionon is to order "to-go" it seems be better all the way around. I've been going to Asuka for many many years now. The service has always been terrible. I've argued with the owner before about the amount of yum yum sauce served when dinning in vs what they charge for yum yum sauce in a Togo order. Way back in 2012 at closing, friends and I were still sitting around waiting on our checks and we saw a rat run by and not even that has kept me from coming back every time I am in town. Seriously, lower your standards on the quality of the service, but know you are going to eat a very tasty meal even if they screw up what you ordered the first time. All this said, I still give them 5 stars because the food is delicious and I'd be in tears if they ever shut down. read more
