Problem is, he had just taken the top bell off and hosed everything, ostensibly to clean it, in the process washing cobwebs and debris into the top tappet. So there goes my $85 cash fee. Worse, he claims my backflow device is no longer made... and a new one will cost $800. Two days later he sends me an email, asking $375 to replace some parts. Hmmm, so I checked. The entire FEBCO 765 device is only $150, dead common, and easy to buy. They also sell a full service kit (all the interior parts) for $50 ($12 if you buy from China). So everything this idiot claimed was a lie. These devices are dead simple (two plungers and a spring)... But this guy is a crook who wants to exploit his clients. People this dishonest should not have a license from the state.

He is favorited in my contacts at this point. ;) We first met when my hot water heater died on a chilly Saturday morning. Trevor came highly recommended by a local HVAC company whom I trust, so I reached out. He showed up exactly on time - in a clean and tidy truck - and impressed from the moment we shook hands. He's polite, calm, knowledgeable, and gives off an effortless, "Don't worry -- I've got this," vibe. Trevor and his team member did great work and we were back up and running within a few hours. Pricing was very fair; the middle of my three bids and right in line with guidance that I had found online. He even helped show me where to go to file for an energy credit on my taxes. Literally two weeks later we had an irrigation pipe rust through and burst, turning our front lawn into a lagoon. We shut off the water at the valve and texted Trevor for help. He was able to squeeze us in the very next day. It turned out that the original installer had used two different types of metal that are not supposed to be in contact with each other and it resulted in a section of the pipe corroding decades sooner than one would otherwise expect. (Shakes fist in air at original installer -- ARGH!) Trevor had us sorted in no time and I was pleasantly surprised that he didn't charge us extra for doing the work outside of normal working hours. He really went above and beyond. Fast forward about 45 days later and I discover that my gardener has taken out two sprinkler heads and jammed a valve in my irrigation system. Water, water, everywhere... but I know just who to call! Trevor came to our rescue once again and did great work. Trevor and Bold Plumbing are awesome. And if my recent luck is any indication, I fully expect to be hiring him again in the very near future! ;)

They do not have a contractors license and stated that they still replace backflows and that they do it all of the time. I was told by the Fire Department that it is a legal requirement to have a contractors license for replacement or repairs of the backflow or to work on the system. This company is tampering with fire lines and domestic water lines without the proper licensing, training , and testing . I will be reporting this company to the contractors state license board to protect other consumers. I have reported them to the Fire Department also. Consumers beware because you will not be protected by licensing and insurance even though the company misrepresents itself
