Honestly I don't understand why this place is rated so low. Is it the best Chinese food I've had? No but for what it is it is good. We went for the lunch buffet on Sunday, for 4 people with drinks it came out to about $64. I'm not sure if that included a child discount or not, didn't check. The food is warm when you get it and they constantly replace items. The selection isn't the biggest but what they have is good. It's your typical buffet, yes the carpets are a little dirty and the booths could probably use some updating but it is fine.

Local Asian buffets nowadays are all hit or miss. This one is no exception. The food was actually really good today at Asian Star Buffet- Sawmill/Festival Place. (My better half suggested it, which is super rare, so I rolled with it.) They kept bringing giant trays of fresh hot food out; the cooks must've been in a good mood. Ok, so not everything was stellar. But their potsticker dumplings are always so good when fresh, and I couldn't stuff enough of their thick with ingredients hot and sour soup, Rangoon crab purses, golden chix wings and garlic green beans into my mouth. Like they say, when the stars align....

There is not much choice from the table. Price is not reasonable. Basically no service, and that's why on weekend night is like a ghost house.

This place caught my eye as it's been years since I've visited a Chinese food buffet. The placed was packed so I couldn't take pics of the food inside as it would've been rude. The atmosphere was nice and from what I could see the place was clean. The food was "meh". I tried a variety of dishes such as honey chicken, chicken with broccoli, pepper steak with onion, egg roll, tempura chicken, potatoes, lo mein, and pork fried rice. Whew! I paid $24.61 in total. Unfortunately, nothing stood out for me. Glad to check it off my list but I probably won't go there again as I've had better tasting Chinese food elsewhere.

This isn't the fanciest of buffets I've seen, but I certainly don't think it deserves a one or two stars. We were greeted by very friendly servers and sat down at a booth immediately. I took a look around each buffet line before filling up my first plate. They have a good selection of different types of chicken - all of which tasted great and had plenty of sauce. Some of the more typical American food containers were empty, like pizza and French fries, but who gets that at a Chinese buffet anyway?? I liked all of my items, but some of the chicken wasn't very warm. I get a little nervous about shrimp and fish at buffets because I don't know how long they've been sitting out, so I stayed away from it. My boyfriend enjoyed his meal too, although he thought the stuffed mushrooms weren't as fresh. The waitress tended to our table often and gave us the check with ease. I'd give this place a 3.5!

I arrived at noon and the parking lot was already pretty full for this very unassuming Chinese…read morerestaurant from the outside. There is plenty of free parking which is nice. When I walked in the atmosphere was great, I could smell good food and heard conversations. There's a large area with large round tables to right and to the left are booths and almost all of them were full. The menu was a mix of Americanized Chinese, traditional Chinese and included Dim Sum as well. There were a number of dishes we didn't know much about and there were dishes being enjoyed by other customers that looked delicious. The wait staff was more than happy to explain the dishes and/or show us on the menu what someone was eating. They took very good care of us and shared the tasks of bringing our food, filling water, and just checking in. Now the food. The food came out very quickly! We all received a well filled bowl of rice. First out was the string beans, perfectly cooked, not droopy, and the flavors of garlic and hot peppers. Even though the peppers were there the heat was not overpowering at all. Next was the shredded pork with garlic sauce. The textures of the pork and bamboo shoots were a nice contrast and the sauce was perfectly balanced and craveable. The special grilled lamb, I was told, was some of the best in the city. It was tender and well spiced. Even when he said he was full he just couldn't stop eating it. For the dim sum order we got the shrimp dumplings, soup dumplings, scallion pancake, and sesame balls and they brought a soy sauce and a chili oil with them. The shrimp dumplings were tender but the dough was pretty sticky. I think this is normal and they were tasty with some of the oil on them. The scallion pancakes were very thin and gummy, this is the only thing we ordered that I would not get again. The soup dumplings were very small but packed a lot of flavor. The dough did stick together a bit so unfortunately some of the soup did leak out. The sesame balls were the hit and we're just the right amount of sweetness that we considered them desert. They were large, at least 2" in size, with a wonderful sesame seed covered exterior and a soft, sweet center. Chuan Jiang Hao Zi is a wonderful somewhat hidden gem. If you want traditional Chinese cuisine including all the different offal they have it and I would totally try it here over anyone else if I was brave enough. Portions were a good size for the price. I highly recommend checking them out!

Spicy Dumplings w/ chili oil - Excellent Crab Rangoons -…read moreAbove Average+ My family ordered Mongolian Beef, Kung Pao Chicken & Hunan Chicken. I had the Kung Pao Chicken & it was by far the best I'd ever eaten. So many layers of flavor & heat. (a bit spicy for me, but I struggled through & loved every bite) Will definitely be back to explore some of the more "exotic" dishes on the menu. (Wasn't feeling to adventurous this trip) The restaurant was well decorated & the staff took great care of us. (saw a large selection of dumplings at this place too.....definitely be back to try those)

The egg foo young is good and they are full of various vegetables and plenty of meat. The eggrolls are really good but do not come with the sweet and sour dipping sauce. I was gonna order the lunch special, unfortunately it was Sunday, and I guess the lunch menu only available between M-F? So I ordered an egg roll and the Empress Chicken, not sure exactly what it is. I saw the name is like Empress, should be pretty impressing, right? lol Egg roll was pretty good, I mean the Empress chicken is pretty good too, huge portion, but I look at it, is like Sweet and Sour Chicken, red sweet sauce The place look a little better than normal Chinese/American restaurant, there is a bar area, but only have like 2 stools. While I was there, only 1 guy is working, I'm the only table there during that time, my water didn't refill until ending of my meal. The guy is busy, seem like lots of to go orders, seen lot of delivery guys in and out of there during my lunch. Will I go back? Maybe, but won't be my first option, the service suck here, food I giving it 7/10
