Sausage Spring Roll

Current 4/5. Possible 5/5. Great Vietnamese solid dishes but sub par pho and noodles. Quick, friendly service. Small, packed interior but that feels right. Pros: Great Banh Xeo, good service system. Cons: Poor Pho. Note: Will try their non soup dishes and if they are good then I would upgrade to 5 stars except the pho (especially for the area).

Updated 2025 review: still one of my favorite places in all of NW Indiana to eat! Asian Kitchen has cut down their menu this year to focus on authentic Vietnamese cuisine. My absolute favorite is the Veggie Noodle Soup (Pho Rau Cai). It is a full hearty meal and everything is always very fresh. The vegetarian Banh Mi Chay is also one of my go-to's. Really you can't go wrong here. Note that Asian Kitchen is pretty small with just 8 tables. It fills fast for lunch at noon, but the waits aren't bad and are worth it. They also offer carry out which stays consistent throughout the lunch hour.

This place is amazing! Real pho 10/10! Im from Texas and i highly recommend this place

Everything was really good! Highly recommend we had rangoons and the pork dumplings were also good the pho was 10/10

fresh, crispy and amazing

This place is a gem in Indiana, perfect for fresh and authentic Vietnamese food. My favorites are spring rolls, grilled pork sandwich never disappoint, other food also really good too! The small space fills quickly during lunch but the wait is always worth it, service fast and friendly, whether dining in or taking food to go. It's a must stop for anyone wants to try authentic dishes, totally worth every visit!

The ambiance of the small restaurant is surreal. I stepped into a small space and the tables were filled with happy customers. The staff pointed me to the only table left. You place your order on a tablet. A big piping hot bowl of beef pho arrived some time later. Condiments are already on the table. And utensils and to go containers are close by. The staff is cooking because it's busy. I enjoyed the flavor of the broth and fresh vegetable. The beef was thick large strips. I did think the beef was dry and tasteless. I ate and ate. The pho hit the spot. I was driving from Illinois to Michigan. I had already plotted a lunch break here. If I weren't looking for this spot, I would have passed it. But in this small town inside were people of different races. The staff was helpful and were in full time mode to serve its customers. If I'm ever in this area again I am making my way to this restaurant. I had leftovers the next day. It was a treat.

I think this is the best Asian food I've ever had. It was made to order and SO delicious. I don't live in Hammond but I want to eat here every day haha. The service was great! She was one of two people serving but was attentive and personable. It's a smaller place so I'm sure it gets filled easily but we didn't have a problem finding a spot. It's definitely a hole in the wall but very very very good.

Great food, every time. We discovered this place a few years ago and come to eat every week. Everything on the menu is delicious, especially their Pho & sandwiches. Food is full of flavor and love. If you're feeling sick, the pho will clear you right up. If you're cold, the pho will warm you up. If it's a hot summer day, you will still crave their pho. The customer service is also fantastic, the workers make sure you have what you need and are very attentive. This place never fails to put a smile on my face :) love it!

Ok so I can't believe I had to come to Indiana from Jersey and finally find a Thai place that has…read morethe small bell peppers that comes with every meal like in Thailand. I been to tons of Thai places and they were alright but this place was exceptional. The Pad Thai was as original as you would find in Phuket. The mango sticky rice was also exceptional. I would gladly spend all of my money here. Would've taken a picture but I swallowed the food whole like a madman. Definitely recommend this place.

We started off our meal with two Thai iced coffees Let me say that that was the highlight of the meal. They were big delicious ice cold, and tasted great. I was very excited as this was my first time here. I ordered the crab Rangoon because quite honestly the last time I was in Joliet I had life-changing delicious crab Rangoon from a Thai place near Jefferson. I can't remember the name of the place it's in the strip mall, in any event I digress this just didn't taste good to me at all . It was full of cream cheese, and no other taste. I could tell from it at all. It was hot piping out in fact, but it just didn't taste good. It was a bit overdone as well. I didn't complain. I just offered it to my wife and she happily ate all of them. For the entrée, I had a thin rice dish with lots of vegetables and chicken pad something or another I can't remember and my wife had peanut noodles. She loves those mine. I asked specifically for well-done vegetables I don't like crunchy vegetables wow when I received it, they were crunchy vegetables, so I walked up to the counter and asked, please can you Really make these well-done vegetables and they did. Once that was fixed everything was good and I ate about half the portion size is very good. You get a lot for your money. I also did notice that their prices of the entrées were a bit more expensive that I'm used to which surprise me because of their location it's in Little strip mall and Northwest Indiana. I'm used to eating north side of Chicago and to find that their prices are higher than that really surprise me. I was stuffed after the meal and my wife ordered a mango sticky rice. Unfortunately they did not have mango because it was out of season so she had a sticky rice which again seemed incredibly Overpriced. I've had this before it many different Thai restaurants for half the cost so this was very surprising to me all in all excellent service I didn't like the appetizer I really like the coffee. My main dish was just OK so that's why I give it three stars personally I won't return, but I'm sure my wife and son will

It serves standard American Chinese food--as basic as it gets--and while the Chinese dishes are okay (not great, but not terrible), I would strongly recommend avoiding the Thai options. We tried them and they were really not good. If you're looking for a quick, no-frills Chinese meal to take home, it's a decent enough spot, but definitely skip the Thai menu entirely.

This was my 2nd time actually dining here - but thought I needed to review. Upon ordering, it said my order would be ready in 20-30 minutes. I got there in about 30 minutes. I did have to wait a bit as there appeared to be one person working and she had a table she was also serving at the same time. I ordered the Basil Chicken w/brown rice & Kung Pao Pork w/white rice. I also ordered the Edamame. The one Basil Chicken order was a dinner and included an egg roll and salad. The Edamame was fine. Not super HOT, but I also waited a bit and it took me about 12 min to drive home. But they were just fine. The Kung Pao Pork was not as spicy as I thought it would be. But there were TONS of vegetables in it. The taste wasn't super powerful, so it was just okay. The Basil Chicken was good and also contained a ton of vegetables, which I liked. Peppers, corn, zucchini, onions, string peas and mushrooms. I may have missed a veggie, but there are quite a few varieties. The Chicken was good...again not the most powerful taste, but it was fine. The salad was warm and I couldn't eat it. I would have prepared the salad be in a separate bag so it stayed crisp and chilled, if it was supposed to be. The egg roll was mostly breading and hard to actually chew. Not my favorite. But to be honest, I'm not a fan of egg rolls. They threw some sauces in the bag, but no chop sticks so you may need to ask if you need those. The only other minor issue was the sauce was already leaking inside the bag from one of the styrofoam containers. The menu is extravagant and filled with half Chinese items and half Japanese items. I will try again and focus more on Japanese items next time.

I stopped in midday midweek and discovered a full parking lot with cars constantly coming and going, which is a good sign. Picked up my food and to my surprise I was impressed by the generous portions of food that were in my containers. In a situation like this, I of course ordered way too much food. In order to make a fair assessment I ordered a cross section of food from their pan Asian menu which includes Japanese, Chinese, Malaysian, Korean, Vietnamese and Thai. I had the teriyaki chicken lunch special, pad Thai with shrimp lunch special, and pork ramen. The lunch specials also included Chinese egg rolls and two coca colas. None of them where the best I have had, but they were pretty darn good enough and satisfying enough, that I can designate them a great bargain. In all honesty each order was enough for 3 to 4 people. I didn't have to cook lunch or dinner for the next few days! If you are, or are not, on a tight food budget I do recommend a stop in here for a great value meal.
