As a Black woman, I couldn't help but notice that while my partner, who has a lighter complexion, was acknowledged by the staff, I was largely ignored. Whether intentional or not, the difference in how we were treated left me feeling overlooked and unwelcome. I love Asian Harbor, over the years they've had management changes, different employees, etc. but I've always had good service and the food is always been spot on. I've never had a problem with any sushi. I've had there. I always opt for the all you can eat sushi I really like their Gyoza and their chicken And again pretty much everything I've ever had there, including soups and salads and appetizers and sushi has been great. I've been to some really high-end sushi places this is not high-end however you get great value for your money and again they're clean and I've never had a problem with the food. I ordered Wonton soup, vegetable tempura and mongolian chicken. Everything was cold when delivered. The wonton were under cooked and chewy in a thin cold broth that tasted as if it came from a can. The tempura wasn't the thin crisp light airy batter one normally expects and was cold and soggy from the fryer. The chicken was equally uninspired and the meal was not worth the $45 that wast jacked up with $7 of delivery and handling charges. I will not order delivery from this restaurant again. I've had take out and inside seating here. It was a decent sized place and friendly staff. Drinks were pretty good. The floor is very slippery so be cautious. We started with the Thai rolls. Not bad. I had the tempura shrimp and vegetables. It was just okay. I had to ask for the sauce that went with it. They were busy so I understood how they missed it. My husband had General Tso's chicken. We have enjoyed their food for years. They offer a variety of options from popular Japanese/sushi items, Thai, and Chinese cuisines. They have also provided great service for dine in and takeout. They have kept up their ambiance nice and clean which we enjoy. I want to comment on a recent purchase in hopes that others can be informed before they order this item. Maybe the restaurant chef can also take this suggestion to improve it so the item can be more attractive and marketable. We ordered something new which is Vietnamese spring roll. The typical or traditional roll has a couple of pieces of shrimp, a mint leaf, bean sprouts, among lettuce and vermicelli noodles. For an order of 2 pieces for almost $8.00, we were disappointed. Their version of Vietnamese rolls only had one small crab stick, few noodles, and lots of lettuce (see photo). All in all, they serve delicious food and friendly service. I really enjoy the FRESH food served at Asian Harbor. They use a lot of fresh vegetables in their food, that is cooked very well. There are about 6 spots directly behind the restaurant and a larger lot behind and to the right of that area. Didn't really know what I wanted and they offered a lot. I also ordered the cashew chicken lunch special which came with a side of white rice, an egg roll and a coup of soup. I had the egg drop soup. It was okay. The cashew chicken had so many veggies. It was a nice surprise. I couldn't eat some of the veggies but I just picked around them. Another member of the party ordered some cheese rangoons and they were huge. First of all, the sushi was very good and that is the most important thing. The two stars off are because of the service. I appreciate that we were in an Asian establishment, and understand that there is some language barriers. Our server was really struggling to understand our orders even with pointing at the menu and using hand gestures though. We were a table of 8 who all arrived at the same time and ordered at the same time. The people on the left end of the table all received their soup and or salad before the people on the right side. Then finally the appetizer came out for the right side and well after the left side was done with their soup, the people on the right got a salad, and then another salad, and then soup while the people on the left side watched. I will say the miso soup was disappointingly flavorless. We ordered 3 bottles of hot Sake using hand gestures etc and got one. We ordered two more and got one. It was a struggle to get them all out to the table! Finally the sushi came out and saved the day! The sashimi was fresh and delish and the rolls were excellent. The food here was pretty good, but I was a bit skeptical since I love Asian cuisine and it's hard to find authentic food in Dallas, and I figured this place was way down south and it wouldn't be as good as I thought. We ordered the egg rolls, combination fried rice, orange chicken and sizzling combo. The food presentation was great, but it was all pretty tasteless. The orange chicken and sizzling combo was especially flavorless. The egg rolls and fried rice were decent, but other than that I wasn't very impressed. My mom liked the rice (what she ordered), but my sister and I didn't care much for our entrees. I had the waiter wrap up the orange chicken, but I tossed it when I got to Target later that afternoon. I decided that it wasn't even worth saving because I knew I wouldn't eat it. I don't know what else to say other than the food was bland. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. We enjoyed being in the space, but I can't say we'd return. My mom hadn't been there in quite a few months and said she recalled the food tasting much better. Last month on February 27th, 2023, I was extremely excited to have lunch here at Asian Harbor:) Being that we recently relocated back to the suburbs, I was thrilled that I had a chance to patronize this establishment that I grew up eating as a teen. I was enjoying my meal until, I found a broken rubber band within my noodles!!! I didn't freak out, just kindly called the waitress over and she informed the manager about this. Now, the manager appeared more upset w/ his staff and the fact that he should have to compensate me for my entree, vs his response to me as the paying customer. He did offer to compensate the bill, didn't offer to replace my meal, Nothing! I felt he wanted me out of the establishment afterwards? His entire attitude was off-setting and I was taken back, because as a former business owner myself, you make sure the customer is acknowledged by management not only the employees! He didn't apologize or come over to my table nor did he say anything to me when I left the establishment, only "bye thanks," (if that). I did not feel appreciated at all as if I was wrong for mentioning the broken rubber band in my food, I was paying for?? The waitress was very professional, polite, and apologetic about the mishap. The place was not busy, only a few other customers in the restaurant including myself and it was clean. The food was good, and I was ready to post to my social media about my day off and recommend this place, but its all about customer service and the "manager/owner," must've had a bad day because he didn't show any great customer service that day! This is my second visit, and the food is pretty good. The sushi is fresh. I only wish they'd work on presentation more. What I love about Japanese restaurants is how they embellish sushi plates. The colors are vibrant and add to the ambiance. I love when flowers or adornments are added to enhance the beauty of the Entrée. This place had half a star more than my usual go-to suburb-sushi spot, so we drove about an extra 15 minutes out of the way to check it out. It was packed in and hard to find parking nearby, which seemed like a good sign at the time. We had a reservation, but no table was ready for us when we got there so we opted for the sushi bar. We sat for about 10 minutes without being greeted, so we migrated on over to the other bar instead. The man who sat us also ended up being our bartender and server. None of this lost them that third star because I assume they were just understaffed on a busy night which, granted, is irritating as a patron, but could've been a fluke. The two stars they did lose came from the meal itself and the ambiance. The decor itself is just fine, albeit a little outdated maybe. It was the marimba playing Girls Just Wanna Have Fun and other assorted pop songs that we all just found... well, weird. Kinda felt like something you might expect on a Spirit Cruise Galentine's event. As for the food, I was just not impressed with anything. Our edamame was soggy, the crab rangoon was pretty lacking even in imitation crab (all cream cheese but more filo dough than anything else), and the Sushi Boat, while well presented, was simply in poor quality. The sashimi was way too thickly cut and the fish itself was lacking in freshness and flavor. Felt this way about most things that came to the table. For the quality of the meal, this place is super over-priced. I know this review sounds like a total drag, but I will say that I still had a lovely evening here. All the staff we interacted with were very friendly, helpful and efficient (especially given the issue of being understaffed). All in all though, I won't likely be back and wouldn't recommend going out of your way like we did. read more

This roll was tasty! Wowzers. It had shrimp tempura and mango inside with spice tuna. Outside was eel, crab meat and the lovely crunchy flakes on top. With spicy mayo and eel sauce. It was a beauty!!! All the flavors worked together to bring about a party in your mouth. My brother had Pad Thai, and my sis had initially sweet and sour chicken. First batch came out with loads of veggies and the chicken was steamed. She did not like it. I tasted it and thought it was great!
