Came here for dinner because it came highly recommended and they did not disappoint. They are undergoing some construction/remodeling. They have a restaurant and hibachi section. We chose the restaurant side and it has nice decor. They also have a lot with ample parking. Staff is warm and friendly. I do not remember the name of our waitress; however, she wore a traditional Japanese kimono and was very pleasant. I ordered a frozen pina colada and hubby ordered the frozen strawberry daiquiri. We started with potstickers. For our entrees, we ordered jumbo shrimp fried rice, shrimp with lobster sauce and shrimp pad see eiw. We enjoyed everything we ordered. There were quite a few patrons in the hibachi section which is where we plan on trying next time we stop in. Definitely a neighborhood staple and highly recommend if you're in the area. read more

Take out | Dinner | $100+ What a disappointment! I just want to start by saying that my family and I have been ordering from Chi-Tung for 15+ years. We have dined-in, used carry out, and even catered for Christmas parties. We loved this place, until my most recent experience. On Tuesday, June 23, I wanted sushi and panang curry for my birthday dinner. It's a 30 minute drive from my house so 1 hour round trip to get carry out. I love their food so I was willing to make the trip - I ordered $160+ worth of food for a family of 5. Pick up was no problem. However, the overall quality of the food was TERRIBLE - super bland with all of the sushi rolls and even my fave roll from there, Godzilla was just AWFUL - didn't taste anything like it normally does. Three-fourths of the order was sushi so that was super disappointing. My daughters' chow mein didn't have any noodles - it was just straight vegetables. She wouldn't eat it bc she wanted the noodles. The panang curry was the only thing that tasted good, but that was only a small part of the order. I was able to speak to the manager (Peg) on the phone a couple days later and explained to her my experience and she basically acted like I was lying, making the whole thing up. That I was supposed to save the food we didn't eat in a cooler and bring it back to the restaurant that day to get some form of refund. That was the policy. Not only that, she also said their recipe has not changed nor had anyone else complain about the food that day. I explained that we already threw out the food so that wouldn't be feasible and she basically said then there was nothing she could do and that she had to follow this policy. I'm sorry but I'm not driving an hour to return the bad food that a restaurant served me - 1. How is that sanitary? 2. Why are you calling a loyal long time customer basically a liar? 3. What kind of customer service doesn't offer anything to a customer that had a bad experience at your restaurant? She didn't seem to care when I told her that MY FAMILY AND I WILL NEVER COME BACK! I couldn't believe that's how a manager would treat a customer especially one that had been coming back for many years and recommends it to others. NEVER AGAIN! BOTTOM LINE: RUN, this place has definitely gone downhill and their customer service is the worse I've ever seen. The only way to save this place is fire that manager, fix the quality of your food, and treat your customers better read more

Chi Tung used to be great. A family member was coming in from out of town and requested Chi Tung, so we all met there. They are supposedly remodeling, but it might be better to demolish and start from scratch. I have never been at a filthier restaurant. All the menus are sticky! Thank goodness I have sanitizer! The bathroom is worse. I chose egg food young only because its fried and hopefully wouldn't get sick. Welll...we ALL got diarrhea. And, the food is bland. The waitress was amazing though. I have a friend who raves about this place so I was in Evergreen Park and decided to stop in for an early dinner. They have a lunch buffet M-Thu and it's like $15. We were too late for the buffet so we did dinner in the dining room. They have a lot of construction going on and the place is a bit messy. I don't know what it looks like normally. The place was very busy. Decor - can't really rate because it's pretty bad. dirty wall and tape and stuff all over the floor. BTW the tape on the floor was not part of the construction because it was keeping parts of the floor in place. menus were sticky too. Food - the prices are not bad. the menu is extensive with a lot of good dishes on it. I paid $13 for an entree of chicken and green beans. The portion was OK but seems a lot less than when I go other places. It could have used more chicken and when I told them it seemed like a lot of beans and not much chicken the server told me I could add more chicken for $3. the entree was very tasty despite not having enough meat for my taste. I did NOT like the egg rolls. But then they're like a spring roll with the thin wrapper. But that's just my preference. I didn't finish the one I had. I caution people to read the front page of the menu which goes thru a lot of rules about service charges, returning food, cancelling orders, etc. Also, please change the volume on the robot that sings happy birthday it was so annoying. I was really in the mood for sushi when I ordered from this restaurant, but it was pretty disappointing. I ordered takeout, a spicy tuna roll and three piece of mackerel. The mackerel was fine, but the spicy tuna looked like mush. They make hand rolled sushi, which I'm fine with, but the presentation was pretty sloppy. I ordered their rum punch to go, but it tasted more like syrup than a cocktail. It's $15 per person and there are so many options, it also comes with a soup, so I went with the egg drop soup. Idk what they do to make those green beans, but they are fantastic. I forget how long Chi Tung has been around but they've been a family owned Evergreen Park staple for quite a few years. Great place for hibachi, sushi, buffet, Chinese/Thai style dining. It's not Chinatown cuisine by any means but there is always a time and place for hibachi as a group or orange chicken. Staff is very friendly. As of April 2026 there is some kind of renovations happening inside, though it seems operations are fine. Interior is super spacious even with the construction. Parking lot also looks like it was recently refreshed outside. read more

This place used to be really good. You could barely get in there, and there was always a wait. I ordered carryout a while back and it wasn't as good as I remembered. I was in the area recently and thought I'd try it again. Mistake. It wasn't good. The fried rice did not taste fresh. There were a few salad shrimp sitting on top of the rice. The Chi Tung egg foo young was more egg than anything. The gravy was super thin and watery and everything was just extremely salty. I'm done. I have eaten at the hibachi grill one time and it was just as bad. But let me tell you this, it will be my last. They also cheat you, in my opinion, on the portion size by placing them in these small plastic to go containers instead of in the white boxes so you can see the amount you're receiving by the box size. This Place is the absolute best. My family and I eat here every time we're celebrating a birthday or getting to see one another after a long period of time. The generous portions of food, along with the plethora of dining options, the stunning show that the chefs give you right in front of you as they are cooking your food to absolute perfection, this place even has these delicious strawberry daiquiris that pair very nicely with Rum! My teen grandson brought his 87 year old great grandmother there. The waitress was very disrespectful and rude to them. I received 3 phone calls about asking what to do with the waitress who kept asking aren't you ready yet after explaining that the grandmother needed more time because she couldn't decide. She was very rude and disrespectful during the whole encounter. After they paid the grandmother decided to buy sushi for take home and when he asked if could get sushi she literally through her hands up in the air and rudely said ok which ones and took a deep breath and walked away. what a horrible experience for a young man trying to do a great thing for his grandmother and get treated like he was the pain in the butt getting rushed and spoken to very rudely. I am very disappointed with the handling of our food complaint. We spent over $253 on our Father's Day order. We drove all the way over there from Plainfield to Chitung to pick up our food. We have been customers for many years. Part of our order were 4 orders of the Green Thai curry with Shrimp. The shrimp was very mushy and when we called to complain instead of taking our legitimate complaint we were told we had to bring our food back to show them. We were in Chicago visiting our family. My husband grew up in Chicago and we, the family, had a taste for Chinese food this evening. I have to say, being a CA girl and coming from the San Francisco Bay Area, I was a bit leery looking at a menu that had Chinese food, Japanese food and Thai food all available as options. I typically prefer a "focus on one thing and do it right" in most of what I do. I don't do smorgasbord's in life. It was a bit of a drive from our location on the South Side, but based on the reviews and word of mouth recommendations, we placed the order ahead of time for pick up. This evening, we decided to order Chinese food. We were surprised how busy the restaurant was when we arrived. We lucked out and found parking and went in. Convenience - they have a pick up counter set up and our food was ready. Hooray!! The staff was nice and we were greated with a smile and polite service. We paid, grabbed our large bag of food and headed back home. Oh, the branded sturdy reusable bag was not only a smart marketing idea, but a great way to exit the restaurant with our order. Upon getting "home" at my in-laws, we sat down to eat. As far as the food itself........ not as impressed, unfortunately. The food was bland. The dish I enjoyed the most that evening was the one I ordered, Shrimp SHRIMP PAD SEE EIW; Stir-fried large noodles with meat, chinese broccoli, fresh mushrooms and eggs in our special sweet soy sauce. It had a nice flavor, a variety of vegetables and a fair amount of protein. The question is, would I be back next time I am in Chicago and craving Asian food? No. Now to be fair, this restaurant does receive a decent amount of high star reviews, my in-laws enjoy it and it was crowded. I guess I was just looking for something different. Something more. I haven't been in years, but this used to be my go-to spot for sushi. I took my son for his 18th birthday. We went at lunchtime on a Wednesday and discovered they had a buffet. It looked amazing, so we decided to get it and also order sushi. The buffet turned out not to be that great, but the sushi was great as usual. I did enjoy the veggie rolls, fruit, and the dessert from the buffet. The fried chicken could've been good; needed some seasoning. My son had the Godzilla roll and the Spider Maki and loved them both. The staff was nice. After being gone for so long, I found I didn't like the ambiance. It felt stuffy, outdated, and dark. I have been going to Chi-Tung for a long time since a teenager (20+ years). Overall the food is okay (it used to be great). They used to treat you like they actually appreciated your business. However, the customer service and overall quality of the food has gone down. In the past, no matter how many times I would order it would always be a five star experience and the food was on point each and every time. Over the last few months, it has been hit or miss with the quality of the food, the temperature of the food (the container itself remains hotter than the actual food) and the quality of the customer service. I ordered delivery this evening requesting well seasoned for my hibachi chicken fried rice. What I received was a bland version of that and I receipt that did not document the request I made to the order taker, even though it was repeated back to me twice. When I called to speak with a manager to resolve the issue, I was advised that they would call me back . Since I have a history (I had an issue in August 2025 with lack of flavor in the rice), she did not have time to talk to me. I advised them that I would just come there and get my money back. However, when I arrived, it was a much bigger issue and I was advised that since I was requesting my money back and this is the second time in two months that I had a complaint and requested my money back that they could no longer service me. I advised the manager that I didn't want the money. I wanted the food that I ordered and requested be delivered to my home. However, since I could not receive that, I didn't want my money back. I advised the manager that my initial call was to give the feedback and discuss what occurred. Since the order taker did not document my well seasoned request the manager essentially stated that it was my fault because it was not stated on the receipt. I am truly appalled at the poor Customer service, delivered by the order taker and the Manager. I would have recommended this restaurant to anyone in the past. Now I would suggest selecting another option where they first and foremost deliver a higher level of customer service. I would suggest selecting a restaurant where if there is an issue, the customer does not get blamed for the issue or where the situation is put off on the customer instead of the employee who lacked integrity when taking the order. The bottom line is if you would like what you request and what you paid for you might want another place where they honor your request. read more

I didn't particularly enjoy my meal (Kung Pao Beef or chicken, Governor Tso, Shrimp Egg Foo Yong). It was edible but flavors seemed watered down and time for pick up or ordering on site also was mot pleasant. None of my neals were anything like what I was accustomed to when I worked and dined in downtown Chicago or at Three Happiness in China Town. They claim yo specialize in many Asian cuisines. From all appearances, one might think they are good as there are usually quite a few customers. I don't rule them out, but say try social media orders if your faves to test the chefs. Love this place! They have it all - Chinese, Japanese, hibachi, sushi Every dish is made to order and amazing. I've had so many dishes from here. This was a monthly spot when I lived in the area. I still make my way there on occasion and make sure to grab a dozen Eggrolls to go. They still taste delicious after being frozen and air fried.
