This Place is the absolute best. My family and I eat here every time we're celebrating a birthday or getting to see one another after a long period of time. The generous portions of food, along with the plethora of dining options, the stunning show that the chefs give you right in front of you as they are cooking your food to absolute perfection, this place even has these delicious strawberry daiquiris that pair very nicely with Rum! I forget how long Chi Tung has been around but they've been a family owned Evergreen Park staple for quite a few years. Great place for hibachi, sushi, buffet, Chinese/Thai style dining. It's not Chinatown cuisine by any means but there is always a time and place for hibachi as a group or orange chicken. Staff is very friendly. As of April 2026 there is some kind of renovations happening inside, though it seems operations are fine. Interior is super spacious even with the construction. Parking lot also looks like it was recently refreshed outside. read more

I was in the area with my family and we decided to stop in for the lunch buffet special. It's $15 per person and there are so many options, it also comes with a soup, so I went with the egg drop soup. Idk what they do to make those green beans, but they are fantastic. I specifically asked for the small crunchy spring rolls and a large Mongolian beef. Instead I received regular eggs rolls and a small Mongolian beef. Besides that, the food had no flavor. BTW, this was a to go order. It wasn't very busy so i did not feel the need to check it. This is not the first time I had issues with the food here. I have eaten at the hibachi grill one time and it was just as bad. But let me tell you this, it will be my last. They also cheat you, in my opinion, on the portion size by placing them in these small plastic to go containers instead of in the white boxes so you can see the amount you're receiving by the box size. The ambiance was okay. As for my opinion they throw the food together, they have become so popular that the quality is taken for granted. The green onions were about an inch or two long, not even diced and on top of that the onions were tough and hard to chew and digest and the beef was just as tough. Like they literally bought the lowest quality possible. Sushi, overloaded with rice...tasteless, seaweed in the sushi taste like cardboard, even the eggrolls taste awful and I use to love those. I went to Chi Tung today April 3rd for my best friend's birthday dinner and our experience was horrible! Our waiter was rude and disrespectful the entire time and very dismissive. When we requested the manager, one of the chefs impersonate the manager and made jokes of our situation. Then when speaking to the real manager she called our differences a "cultural differences." Would never eat there again! 0/10 experiences! read more

We were in Chicago visiting our family. My husband grew up in Chicago and we, the family, had a taste for Chinese food this evening. I have to say, being a CA girl and coming from the San Francisco Bay Area, I was a bit leery looking at a menu that had Chinese food, Japanese food and Thai food all available as options. I typically prefer a "focus on one thing and do it right" in most of what I do. I don't do smorgasbord's in life. It was a bit of a drive from our location on the South Side, but based on the reviews and word of mouth recommendations, we placed the order ahead of time for pick up. This evening, we decided to order Chinese food. We were surprised how busy the restaurant was when we arrived. We lucked out and found parking and went in. Convenience - they have a pick up counter set up and our food was ready. Hooray!! The staff was nice and we were greated with a smile and polite service. We paid, grabbed our large bag of food and headed back home. Oh, the branded sturdy reusable bag was not only a smart marketing idea, but a great way to exit the restaurant with our order. Upon getting "home" at my in-laws, we sat down to eat. As far as the food itself........ not as impressed, unfortunately. The food was bland. The dish I enjoyed the most that evening was the one I ordered, Shrimp SHRIMP PAD SEE EIW; Stir-fried large noodles with meat, chinese broccoli, fresh mushrooms and eggs in our special sweet soy sauce. It had a nice flavor, a variety of vegetables and a fair amount of protein. The question is, would I be back next time I am in Chicago and craving Asian food? No. Now to be fair, this restaurant does receive a decent amount of high star reviews, my in-laws enjoy it and it was crowded. I guess I was just looking for something different. Something more. I haven't been in years, but this used to be my go-to spot for sushi. I took my son for his 18th birthday. We went at lunchtime on a Wednesday and discovered they had a buffet. It looked amazing, so we decided to get it and also order sushi. The buffet turned out not to be that great, but the sushi was great as usual. I did enjoy the veggie rolls, fruit, and the dessert from the buffet. The fried chicken could've been good; needed some seasoning. My son had the Godzilla roll and the Spider Maki and loved them both. The staff was nice. After being gone for so long, I found I didn't like the ambiance. It felt stuffy, outdated, and dark. With so many new options for sushi, I don't know how often I'd return, but it was decent. read more

I have enjoyed the food that I have eaten from CHI TUNG. The only issues I've ever had came from food that was delivered and that wasn't too often. The issues were either a missing item or something with the packaging and something leaked. Normally that issue would be resolved in a phone call. Most recently there was something wrong with the container of one of my orders where an item leaked. The lid of the container of the soup was cracked, and some of the soup had leaked out in the plastic bag that the container was in. I called Chi Tung and they asked me to send a photo which I did. I never asked them for any money, but I did about the crack lid.I next receive a call from a manager who complained to me about the number of times that I called in about an item. It was three items last year and said it was three items this year. Who doesn't examine what they receive when they order If an item is supposed to call if something is supposed to the bag when it came with staple together with all the items in it so I have no clue how the lid . She stated to me that that is highly unusual. She stated if I wanted any further food deliveries from CHI TUNG I would have to come in and pick it up versus having it delivered. I have been going to Chi-Tung for a long time since a teenager (20+ years). Overall the food is okay (it used to be great). They used to treat you like they actually appreciated your business. However, the customer service and overall quality of the food has gone down. In the past, no matter how many times I would order it would always be a five star experience and the food was on point each and every time. Over the last few months, it has been hit or miss with the quality of the food, the temperature of the food (the container itself remains hotter than the actual food) and the quality of the customer service. I ordered delivery this evening requesting well seasoned for my hibachi chicken fried rice. What I received was a bland version of that and I receipt that did not document the request I made to the order taker, even though it was repeated back to me twice. When I called to speak with a manager to resolve the issue, I was advised that they would call me back . Since I have a history (I had an issue in August 2025 with lack of flavor in the rice), she did not have time to talk to me. I advised them that I would just come there and get my money back. However, when I arrived, it was a much bigger issue and I was advised that since I was requesting my money back and this is the second time in two months that I had a complaint and requested my money back that they could no longer service me. I advised the manager that I didn't want the money. I wanted the food that I ordered and requested be delivered to my home. However, since I could not receive that, I didn't want my money back. I advised the manager that my initial call was to give the feedback and discuss what occurred. Since the order taker did not document my well seasoned request the manager essentially stated that it was my fault because it was not stated on the receipt. I am truly appalled at the poor Customer service, delivered by the order taker and the Manager. I would have recommended this restaurant to anyone in the past. Now I would suggest selecting another option where they first and foremost deliver a higher level of customer service. I would suggest selecting a restaurant where if there is an issue, the customer does not get blamed for the issue or where the situation is put off on the customer instead of the employee who lacked integrity when taking the order. The bottom line is if you would like what you request and what you paid for you might want another place where they honor your request. read more

I didn't particularly enjoy my meal (Kung Pao Beef or chicken, Governor Tso, Shrimp Egg Foo Yong). It was edible but flavors seemed watered down and time for pick up or ordering on site also was mot pleasant. None of my neals were anything like what I was accustomed to when I worked and dined in downtown Chicago or at Three Happiness in China Town. They claim yo specialize in many Asian cuisines. From all appearances, one might think they are good as there are usually quite a few customers. I don't rule them out, but say try social media orders if your faves to test the chefs. I absolutely LOVE this place. I have gone here so many times I lost count. It was my go-to restaurant spot when I came home from college and became the primary restaurant that me and my grandfather went to (and argued over almond cookies if there was an odd number). Everything I eat there is good, but my go-to is Thai fried tofu rice (medium spicy), spring rolls (with tofu), edamame and occasionally a whiskey sour. I may branch out here and there when someone is with me (like trying the Veggie Medley Delight). I Just expect everything to be incredible always and fully understand why the parking lot is usually packed and there's a line. It's worth it. The only reason I'm switching my review from five stars to four stars is because if you order online, the receipt claims they'll text you. They DO NOT. A family member waited for about 45 minutes. Finally, I mentioned to him that I usually go pick up the order as soon as I buy it online. He insisted that they will text. I shrugged and walked away. He called them. They said they would text when the meal was ready but "it wasn't ready yet." Before he could even put the phone on the charger, a text came through saying the meal was ready. Like I said, they do not keep up with texting when meals are ready. Just go wait in the lobby. Or call to check on your meal so you're not waiting a long time. read more

Love this place! They have it all - Chinese, Japanese, hibachi, sushi Every dish is made to order and amazing. I've had so many dishes from here. This was a monthly spot when I lived in the area. I still make my way there on occasion and make sure to grab a dozen Eggrolls to go. They still taste delicious after being frozen and air fried. I went here a few days ago. As usual this place was crowded. The cashier/order taker was friendly. I am slowly becoming a vegan and just wanted to try their vegetable chow mian. Can't go wrong right? Well yes u can. The presentation was missing ummm vegetables. These huge noodles were odd looking 2 me, greasy, no flavor. $12 for this? I have been a patron of this restaurant since it was a storefront back in 1995. There have been many changes, including the addition of a hibachi the service has changed dramatically for pick up you now have to either pay at a kiosk or online prior to arriving to pick up your food. The service is better when you sit down and dine. The food is fresher when you sit down and dine. Pick up orders tend to not be so fresh. The restaurant is always very clean. They have added an additional parking area on the other side of the restaurant so parking is plentiful so I sort of have mixed reviews at this time as the changes have not been so great. read more
