Chicken and Beef fried rice with cashews and basil. Then there's the Tom Yum soup with chicken vegetable and rice noodle.

This is just an update, the soup and fried rice was absolutely amazing! I have labeled what they are. I'm trying to experiment with the entire menu lol, one trip at a time

Great tasting food! The portions are great. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable of the food they serve. There are 3 spice levels mild, medium and hot. Medium was spicy for me but it was manageable. The flavors in each dish we had the flavor was present in each bite. Highly recommend to dine in and enjoy some good food. See you on the next visit!

What an amazing experience. I'm married to a Lao man and I'm a Thai/Lao food lover and we were lucky enough to find a Lao restaurant in Chicago. It was dead inside and I don't know why. This place does need a makeover but the food is amazing. Service was also great. We started with some apps, crab Rangoon, Beef Larb, beef jerky and beef jerky. We stuck to appetizers and It was so delicious. The good things about this place is that you can get your food mild, spicy and very spicy. What an amazing way for costumers to pick their spicy level. Everything came with your option of steam rice or sticky rice. We decided on the sticky rice. The larb was one of the most delicious larb I had in year I do recommend this family friendly place. Next time I'll be back to try their other dishes. Please come and support this small bus

Hole in the wall alert When I tell you this place is the bomb.com, you need to try it. Whenever I want take out this is my place to go! Beware this place is super spicy so ask for the sauce on the side. I ordered the shrimp pad Thai 9/10. First time ordering the sap sap wings and omg I can never go back. They are soooo delicious 10/10. The spring rolls were pretty generic nothing crazy. The wait is always pretty long but definitely worth it.

The #Hubski and I wanted to enjoy a simple Friday date night. We absolutely LOVE this place but we always order takeout, so we chose to dine in today and man..we were NOT disappointed Hubby had orange chicken and he loved his meal. The chicken is cooked very well, only breast prices and only super light breading If any. There were even pegs of mandarins in the meal Now as for me, I got the veggie green curry (mild-medium spice level) over soft pad Thai noodles and honestly, it was the BEST green curry I have ever had. The amount of coconut milk used was perfect, making the dish Creamy and rich and it was loaded with veggies, pea pods, carrots broccoli mushrooms bell pepper basil . Super great meal and just a simple homey atmosphere

    Steamed shu mai, very good.

Simple not fancy, functional and clean. The food is excellent, today I will have Boating Noodle soup, with beef, medium heat but with a side of hot sauce I can add. If you've not been here before, be warned the hot food is really hot. Move up the spice levels slowly. I had steamed shu mai, before the soup, be aware this soup is a meal or plan on sharing. I used to work near here, first time I've been in since about a year before COVID started. Today all was very very good. Friendly staff, I'll be back again as soon as I can, unfortunately I live about 1.25 hours south of here, that's with no traffic. I certainly like this place and will drive up here again. Boating Noodle Soup with beef. Medium and I can feel the heat, I lived in Thailand for two years, everywhere else I order food hot, their hot elsewhere is not even medium here. Really great tasting, broth is very beefy. Ingredients are very fresh food tastes great.

Ask the Community - Spicy Thai Lao

    Is their meat halal zabiha?

They do offer this but call ahead. They can get very busy and they only use the freshest ingredients so when they run out then you are out of luck.

    Do they serve liquor?

I'm not sure but they definitely serve beer when they have it. The last time I was there they were in the middle of constructing a whole bar so if they don't now they will in the near future.

The way my pad Thai is tasting I'm inclined to believe they have a new owner or chef?

    Is that good or bad?

For food, everything hit the mark. I ordered the Garlic Peppery Shrimp, which was perfectly seasoned and full of bold flavor, along with the Thai Egg Rolls, crisp and satisfying. My friend had the Crispy Basil Catfish, which was cooked beautifully, and for an appetizer she chose the Crab and Cream Cheese Crispy Rolls. The drinks deserve their own moment. We celebrated with cocktails from their extensive drink menu. My friend enjoyed Sidecars, while I tried the Guava-tini and the Jungle Bird. They were so good that I completely forgot to take pictures--always the sign of a great cocktail! Between the flavorful food, fun drinks, and relaxed celebratory vibe, this was the perfect spot for a birthday dinner (or any special occasion). I'll definitely be back and highly recommend dining in if you're looking for great food and cocktails, as well as personable service. I will be sure to capture some of the wonderful cocktails on my next visit.

The food was very good, I just didn't like that the snapper had all that sauce and vegetables over it in a sweet sauce. The fish itself was good the land and chicken were delicious, however the plate needed a vegetable with the meal. My cousins love the catfish and fried rice. Definitely worth giving this place a try.

The food has no taste with the fried rice being white and not nearly fried! They gave me anything. I called to complain and the manager told me "don't come here anymore". For my entree, I ordered Hong Sue Chicken with vegetables. The chicken was good, with a fair amount of meat and nice-sized pieces, but I didn't care for the vegetables; there was not much crunch. I also ordered Chicken Fried Rice to share. I didn't care for it at all. My sister ordered Beef Chop Suey. She said the meat was tender, but it had this dark gravy sauce. She ordered the Chicken Lo Mein as a side dish to share but didn't like it. That was a disappointment again with the same dark gravy sauce. My sister asked the owner if she could get a free Egg Roll, and he said yes because it was over $25.00. That was a nice touch, but she asked me to try her Egg Roll because she said she had enough to eat, so I tried hers and took one bite. It didn't taste like mine, which was good, but not hers. The order taker charged a $4.00 delivery fee but didn't tell us because I gave him a cash tip, too. The delivery was fast, and the driver politely thanked us for our order. If you look at the lady's review from 03/17/24, mine was the same as hers. I would never go back to this restaurant again. I usually check the restaurant out first on Yelp, but my sister said her friend orders from there and likes it, so I trusted her judgment. We didn't save anything for later but instead gave everything to a homeless person.

We were previously considering Italian food but so glad we chose this place for dinner because it was soooo yummy and so cute. I absolutely would be back to try the rest of their menu (especially their wide range of Kanom Thai or Thai desserts). They also serve Japanese food upstairs and that did look yummy although we stuck to the Thai menu. The staff was great. Everything was good - we got cherry blossom/sakura flavored sake, roti mataba as an appetizer, and for entrees, the habrae empire and Khao Kang Karee Chicken. Everything we got was good and worth trying, but I definitely loved the roti mataba and would order that again. Staff was also great. Cute for a date and also delicious.

This restaurant is a combination of Thai and a Japanese izakaya. We ordered the chicken skin, pad Thai, basil chicken stir fry, tom yum, and mango sticky rice. The chicken skin and the basil chicken came out first and they were amazing! The sweet dipping sauce with the chicken skin really pulls it together. We got level 2 spicy (out of 5) for the basil chicken and it did not have a single kick of spice but it was still very yummy and flavorful. As for the other entrees, we were very disappointed. The pad Thai tasted like BBQ sauce rather than pad Thai. The seasoning was very off putting. The tom yum was good but more on the sweeter side with my friends and I were not fond of. For dessert we got mango sticky rice. The sticky rice was warm and soft, and the mangoes were sweet and tart! Great combination of both especially with the coconut.
