I've been coming here for a long time, and it's honestly one of my favorite little hole-in-the-wall spots around. If you like Panda Express, think of this as what Panda Express should taste like. The portions are always generous, the food comes out hot, and everything I've tried has been good. Seriously, I can't think of a single dish I've ordered and regretted. The beef and broccoli is always on point, the salt and pepper fish is crispy and packed with flavor, and the salt and pepper chicken (or wings) never misses. Even the chow mein is really good. What I like most is the consistency. Every time I come in, I know exactly what I'm getting: a big plate of good food at a fair price. No surprises, no disappointment. There are plenty of places to grab a quick Chinese food plate, but this is the one I keep coming back to. I'd much rather spend my money here than at Panda Express. Good people, good portions, and good food. Can't ask for much more than that. read more

MSG galore! Probably most Chinese food has MSG, but when I looked closer at the fried fish, a generous amount was sprinkled all over it. If they put a lot of MSG on fried fish, I wonder how much MSG is on the other dishes. No wonder why the food tastes good. This is take-out place, not a place to dine inside. The food is not that good. You can go down the street to the Hawaiian barbecue place and get a better meal, even Panda Express has better food than this place. But the only good thing about this place is they give you huge portions. I ordered their orange chicken today and it tasted not so fresh as in it was an old chicken and some pieces I couldn't even consume I had to spit out. If you want a good meal, there are so many other options around the area than this chop shop of a restaurant. We visited this restaurant for the very first time today. The service was quick and the food smelled great. However, to our horror, we found a cockroach in the rice we were served. I called the restaurant and was told I had to go back in person to return the food, and they couldn't issue a refund over the phone. I went back to the restaurant and they honored their word, but not once did they offer any sort of apology. Very disappointing on many fronts. Someone who was in line approached us after witnessing the interaction and mentioned it was his first time there, and asked if there was something wrong with the food. Tried it for the first time today and will never be going back. I found a roach in my fried rice and after contacting them they asked for the food back (???), refund was issued but no sincerity or apology was given. I've always had a soft spot for this type of Chinese food. Serving sizes are quite generous and prices are more than reasonable. My friend and I got the combo that is 2 entrees and a side of chow mein or fried rice. The verdict: CHOW MEIN: Greasy and delicious. Not something you could eat regularly but it hit the spot. DEEP FRIED FISH FILLET: probably the best thing they have here. Basically salt and pepper fish. Fish tastes fresh. HONEY SHRIMP: They don't charge extra for shrimp! And this was perfectly sweet and crispy. Thick batter around it, which I liked. STRING BEANS: Actually not that greasy and a good dish to go along with all the oily food. FRIED RIBLETS: Like Cantonese salt and pepper pork chops - yummy. Overall everything was cooked quite well. The flavor are authentic (not like Panda Express), full of flavor and fresh ingredients. The quality is fresh and they portion is big for the value. About three weeks ago we went to Asian Express for takeout on the way home. We have had Asian Express's catering at a family event over the summer so we wanted to have it again. By the time we got home to Sacramento our food was still warm! Our food was awesome! It was not soggy and they don't skimp on the amount of food they stuff into their containers. Everything had flavor and our sesame chicken was still crispy! This place is very small and has very few tables in the dining room so most customers were picking up takeout orders. The food isn't labeled, and there's really no vegetarian or pescetarian options under the heat lamp trays. The chow main is okay eventhough I had to pick out the chicken/mistery meat.
