This was a welcome lunch during jury duty. Rainy day, chill spot, sushi craving. I got a roll with salmon, mango, shrimp tempura with hamachi sashimi and they fulfilled the job. I also ordered a miso soup which was comforting and filled to the max. A nice gesture at the end was the server offering me a free veggie tempura roll, which I gave to my hubs at home. Ate here yesterday, good per usual, but after we got the bill we saw they added auto gratuity of $13 dollars, which is odd because there was only 2 of us, and we come here very often. Maybe they assumed we weren't going to tip..? We didn't even get water refills for like 10 minutes, so it was odd having to pay the mandatory tip. Plus, the service wasn't the best either. It's unfortunate because we usually enjoy this place. I don't know, usually our go to spot but that threw me off a bit, maybe we never noticed it in the past. The Beef Chow Fun lacked flavor. The yellowtail nigiri was decent. The Lion King Roll was good as well but would have tasted better if it was warmer. I had a really disappointing experience tonight at Tokyo & Beijing (7/8/2026) in Pittsburg, CA, around 8 p.m. I went there for a casual dinner, and after my meal, I didn't tip on my card because I needed to pay some other bills, but I had cash that I planned to leave on the table. Out of nowhere, one of the servers mid-30s, she confronted me in front of other customers, asking why I hadn't tipped. I felt completely humiliated. I used to be a waitress, and I know tipping is important, but begging for a tip and calling me out like that was just unacceptable. After that, I decided not to leave anything at all. When we were ready to leave, I had to go ask for the check myself. After I paid and didn't tip due to the poor service, he pointed at the receipt and kept showing me the suggested tip amounts. I asked if I was obligated to tip due to him being very persistent, and he kept insisting. It felt uncomfortable and unprofessional. Tipping should reflect the service, and this experience didn't deserve one. After this event I don't think I'll feel comfortable going back due to the attitude of the waitress. Once home, I discovered we had received two plates of combination chow mein and one sushi roll instead of our original order. I called the restaurant to notify them, but they were about to close. I assured them I would arrive before closing time, but I had to wait again for them to prepare our order. Me and my wife came to have 3 rolls for dinner total was $42 I paid with my card and was confused because the waiter demanded I leave him a tip . Told him I'll leave him cash so they wouldn't charge extra on my card .
