Back again for another good round of food. Everyone was friendly and the food came pretty quick but this time in between the good coming out there was a longer wait for things like, say, refills or napkins, before we saw our waitress to ask. Everything has gone up in price these days, so I can't hold that against them. Don't go out as much these days, but this wasn't a disappointing night out with my daughter. I was so excited Bluefin Sushi moved to Oakley. A location next to Mountain Mikes Pizza with plenty of parking space then Lone Tree Way. We arrived early before lunch around 11:40am on a Saturday. We were welcomed by the friendly staff. Appetizer - 5 piece fried oysters. They tasted very fresh and the dip sauce hit the spot! Nigiri - The salmon and tuna belly. The tuna belly was my absolute fav! Sushi rolls - Eye of the Tiger Beautiful Lady Lobster Roll Dessert - Tempura green tea ice cream (highly recommended) and strawberry and green tea mochi ice cream This sushi rolls here are absolutely amazing with a whole variety of selection. I have been at their new location in Oakley twice and once for takeout. The food is always amazing and the restaurant is so nice and clean. The customer service is great as well. I really do like the new location- the parking is much easier than their location on lone tree. I always felt like the other location was so dark too so I like the brightness of the new place. The food is on the pricier side but it is quality Japanese food. I also appreciate that you can get a bento box in the evening as well. Some places only offer it for lunch and the bento box is my go-to! read more

Our server was very friendly and checked in with us often to see how we were doing which was great. The food was really good especially the tonkatsu curry. This is the same Bluefin Sushi that used to be off Lone Tree across from Trader Joe's. It has moved to the quiet Oakley shopping center. Plenty of parking now which is better than in the previous parking lot which is a nightmare. So good change for them. We met Stella, the waitress, was full of smiles and bubbly and very kind and sweet! Now of course, it is about the food. Honestly, there hasn't been a knock your socks off great Japanese restaurant around this area that I have found. This is probably one of the better ones of the ones in this area though. 5 stars for the staff. Mushroom Bomb- sounded good and if you like jalapeño poppers then you will like this. Personally I love mushrooms, but I don't like jalapeño poppers and this was too cream cheesy for me. I could only eat a couple of bites of this. So 2.5 on this for me. Heavenly sushi was okay good. I think I like Lion King rolls better in my preference, but I wanted to try something different. 3 stars for this- it was a bit on the sweet side. The Bento box was tonkatsu and vegetable tempura. Salad was just right. Miso soup a bit salty but still good- but I would suggest to add little bits of tofu and fresh diced green onion to elevate the plain broth. 3.5 for the soup- I love miso soup anyways. The tonkatsu was a bit dry bc smaller pieces of pork so would be dry quicker when frying. It was ok 3.5 being generous here. Vegetable tempura mix was good 3.5 for this( could be more light and airy but ok still). I only base my star rating basically on the food and maybe other factors may boost or enhance it if it really made a difference. So for this area it is decent and a good place to get Japanese food- not up to par compared with the rest of the SF Bay Area, but good enough compared to other Japanese restaurants in this area. Averaged 3.3- Will give it 3.5 it is ok good. The person I went with also rated her Bento Box as a 3 star rating (she had the same as me but with mixed shrimp and vegetable tempura). She loves Japanese food and goes to Japanese restaurants and says "it is okay." So actual rating from me is 3.3(food) including service 3.5. read more

Beyond disappointed....won't be back; felt completely ripped off today. Husband's roll was $13.50 and had about a dime size of tuna in each slice, it was filled with a ton of rice! I frequent this place during the week by myself and I begged my husband to come with me again and give them them another try (he didn't like his first experience). During the week the Kani nigiri is "normal" size but today it was tiny again. Not sure if the chefs on the weekend cut back, but not worth the price. Came here for lunch on a weekday. I tried the salad with chef's choice fresh nigiri and I was very happy and satisfied! The fish tasted fresh and the soy sauce/ponzu sauce was a very good complement to the greens. Would have loved to see some cucumber in the salad to make it more refreshing. This was not my first time having their food; I had their food from the Lone Tree location a while ago various of times, but this was my first time having their new Oakley location. I did not get everything that I had wanted to get, so I will have an updated review in the future. But based of my visit, here is what I have to say: I was a fan & I still am! I'm not too sure how they are compared to their past location due to it being a long time of not having bluefin, but this was still good! I had their Chicken Teriyaki, Avocado Maki, & Kappa Maki. I did not have any seafood, in which is why I will be back with an updated review in the future. The Sushi rice was well done. How sushi rice should be. Cooked all the way through, not super mushy, and a tad bit sweet. The Cucumber was cucumber! It was fresh & had a nice crunch. The Avocado too was fresh! No browning from what I had seen. It was also perfectly ripe. Quality stuff! The Chicken Teriyaki came with veggies, rice, a side salad & miso soup. The soup was decent; left a little weird aftertaste, but I too can't remember the last time I had miso soup, but it wasn't bad. The salad was good! Again, fresh veggies & dressing wasn't overpowering & had a sweet, refreshing flavor. The steamed rice was also good, made perfectly. The veggies were great; possibly was stir fried a bit which gave them a boost of flavor. Lastly, the chicken was delicious! What may be chicken breast or very well done & thin chicken thigh was also pretty moist! The sauce was perfect & worked well with the chicken; which also was a pretty good serving sized portion. My favorite part were the skewer of mushrooms. The Sakura roll was good but it wasn't easy to pick up because the cucumber wrapping made everything pop out, tried fingers and chopsticks. Sashimi was mediocre and sort of small but overall, everything was decent. Not at all what sushi rolls should taste like so I couldn't finish them. The miso soup was also overly salted, and the tempura shrimp was falling apart and soggy. I don't live in the area and was visiting family who live around the corner from Bluefin. They said the restaurant recently moved to the new location in the Raley's shopping center. First off, ambiance is clean and modern and accessible. This space used to be the former Providence (The Prov) and the remodel is really nice. My family and their friends loved it! As for food, they had Bento boxes and loved them. I had the Warriors Roll and Vampire Roll. The Warriors Roll was crunchy and sweet which was a nice touch. The Vampire Roll was supposed to be spicy, but it really wasn't. I enjoyed both and would still order them again. They have a solid menu of options to choose from. The staff were friendly and kind. All in all, we all had a good time and will definitely be back. I recommend checking out Bluefin Sushi in their new home! read more

This originally used to be on Lone Tree by Chipotle but has relocated to Oakley next to Mountain Mikes. This spot is much nicer and the sushi was bomb. Our server, Nina was incredible. She was super friendly and was very attentive. We ordered 3 rolls. The beautiful lady was my favorite. We also got the lion king roll and a unique one called the Vampire. We like things on the spicier side and they all were SMACK. To balance out the fire we also got dessert. Mochi ice cream and Green Tea Cheesecake. My only feedback to Bluefin: omit the chocolate syrup and sprinkles from the mochi and cheesecake. Loving their new location in Oakley. Restaurant has more natural light thanks to huge windows, making the space bright and inviting. Staff is very attentive and friendly.
