Love going here. Fastest service ever, the food is always fresh, and it is extremely peaceful.

I used to enjoy the food there, the service was great. BUT . Unfortunately there was a RUDE server. I asked her to sit where i normally sit. She rudley screamed at me " Nope, u sit over there, not there" I was like. ook. Second thing, There was an employee who was sleeping face down right behind me, snoring really loud. Maybe they made his wife kicked him out. who knows. The server was in a rush all the time. What it really pisses me of she was coughing really loud with covering her mouth in front of me. Last thing she rushed me to pay. She added the 18% gratuity immediately. "Why would i tip her out with this poor customer service. " I just left couple dolla$. I typically do not leave reviews, but today due to the experience I had with staff I feel like I have to. I placed a phone order which equal out to over $100, I picked up the order. I did not eat there. Upon signing the credit card receipt, they demanded a tip. She kept giving me the receipt to add a tip to the charge when I was solely picking up for someone else. The order was paid over the phone. When I stated I was picking up an order, this order was not paid by myself. I was thrown my receipt at me because I refused to leave a tip for picking up the order, this was really rude. I told the lady, how rude it was for her to throw the receipt to me and she ignored me then walked away. read more

I was double charged. Tonight I used one card and the person behind the counter said it was declined. So I used another card. It went through. I checked the first cards bank account and it was charged. I showed the person behind the counter BOTH bank accounts that proved I was doubled charged. She kept insisting that I wasn't double charged and refused to reverse one of the charges. This is not the first time I've been over charged here. I have loved this restaurant for years and have recommended it to my friends. I took my son there the other night for carry out. We ordered the WonTon Soup. The thigh meat in the soup was in large pieces covered with fat and skin. It was not the soup I used to get there. The beef in the fried rice was of a very low quality beef. I have never had a bad experience at this restaurant until one female waitress. She is very rude. While we were eating I noticed either a Uber or door dashers employee very politely stated they were there for an order. This waitress treat him like they were a piece of s. I witness how this waitress treated this guy and embarrassed him. He was looking down on his phone and she made a scene by saying Hello while you a bit far away from the person. The guy was more close to the entrance door while she was halfway inside the eating area. Like seriously she could be talking to anybody. Then the waitress came closer and said it out loud your sleeping while she is telling other customers he was sleeping which he wasn't. She was a total bitch. I wanted to say something but my husband said no. She needs to be fired. I have video of this incident and will show the manger or owner. This is totally not acceptable. If this kind of treatment is given to others who are working to. I will no longer be coming to this restaurant. Disappointed... I loved the old menu and recipes. I had moo shoo pork, steamed rice and pot stickers. My husband got the "A" meal the sweet and sour pork with chow mein ... he said just so-so. I think I'll move on and try somewhere else. Makes me sad- this was a favorite spot for many years. Nice people though, good service. read more

The quality of the food was phenomenal. The service was extremely quick. They were about to close within 5 minutes and they still let me order. They help me figure out all of the food to order all of the food with delicious. The ambience of the restaurant was phenomenal. Definitely coming back. It made my stomach hurt and gave me food poisoning. Nice ppl but that doesn't stop you from getting sick at all.

If I could give 0 I would. My kids are sick with the flu and we decided to pick up some hot and sour soup and chicken chow mein. Once we got home and started to plate the chow mein, I noticed something orange and long. It was stuck to a noodle. After pulling it out, I was DISGUSTED. I do not know what it was. It was rubbery. MAGGOT IN FOOD. I've never left a yelp review, but what I experienced with China City warrants a public service announcement. Last night, I purchased Chinese food from China City. When my family began eating the food, we noticed a maggot in one of the pieces of chicken. We called China City, reported the incident and they offered to remake the food. We declined, explaining we did not want to risk eating contaminated food. The staff and owner claimed to not know what a maggot was. I packed up ALL the food we purchased, minus the few pieces of chicken we had already eaten and drove back to the restaurant. I had placed the contaminated piece of chicken and the maggot in a clear ziplock bag to show the manager/owner. When I arrived, the staff and owner stated they had "never seen anything like this" and denied it was a maggot at all. When I questioned what they thought it was since they were denying it was a maggot, the owner proceeded to squish the piece of chicken in the Ziplock bag, breaking up the chicken, making it stringy. She then pointed to the Maggot stating, "see, they look the same, it is just a part of the chicken." At this point, there was no arguing with them. I asked for a full refund, which they denied. Initially, they offered to refund ONLY the chicken Chow Mein since that was the dish the maggot was found in, even though the same chicken was also used for other dishes I purchased. After some time, the owner reluctantly agrees to a partial (half) refund. She reported that since I paid with a credit card, she could not refund a partial amount and insisted on refunding the full amount, then charging me again for half the price I originally paid. I ended up leaving the establishment without a refund and told them I would be reporting to the health department. Do not eat here. Their lack of concern and overall responsibility to their customers to even acknowledge maggots in their food, is unacceptable. They continued to take and fulfill orders, likely with the same contaminated food. I have a photo, but can't seem to figure out how to post it. read more

I order 3 dinner plates $40.00.. 2 Szechuan Chicken with chow main 1 with egg roll 1 with wonton soup and 1 orange chicken with chow Main and egg roll. The food is really bad.. no flavor at all, Szechuan is spicy right??? They didn't put any spicy in it.. the texture of the chicken is questionable. It's chewy it's weird it's twisted it's not right.. chow Main no flavor nothing but noodles. Pot stickers the meat was crunchy only way to describe lt, soup was also strange.. PLEASE DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY.. and the coating on the orange chicken was mushy like it had been reheated or something. Stopped by last week after dropping my mom to her home care after doing errands with her. I was spent. Didn't want to cook dinner afterwards. I remember stopping by here years ago. Same inside, nothing special, just 8 or so tables. Nothing fancy. I arrived at 3:15pm and figured I just missed their lunch specials. I did. It ends at 3pm. I excepted to just be able to order main dishes to go. My Wife wanted orange chicken and chow mein, I wanted sweet and sour pork and fried rice. So four main containers to go. Too much food for just the two of us. But to my surprise they offer dinner combo plates with three items. I got my wife's plate plus an egg roll and my plate plus wonton soup. Together it was around $24.00. If I made it before 3pm, maybe $20. Regardless, they offer dinner plates. Huge servings. One would have been enough to eat between us as we are lite eaters. They also have four different family combo plates for two/three/four persons etc that gives more items at their dinner plate special prices plus adds ingredients like chicken to the chow mein, bbq pork to the fried rice, etc. worth the extra $1 up charge. Bottom line, great service, quick prep time to go orders, and as for the food 4/5 for a quick drop in restaurant. Flavors and quality was fine for the inexpensive price. It was unseasoned dry worst chow mein I've ever had in my life would not recommend...... the fortune cookie wasn't even in a wrapper. We have been going to China City for over 20 years now. Tonight will be the last. Ordered house chow Mei, house fried rice, Mongolian beef and sweet and sour chicken. Did not get Mongolian Beef it was Broccoli Beef so upset. The house rice and chow Mein had nothing in it to make it House. Plain no flavor. The sweet and sour chicken bland barely any sweet and sour. No soy sauce, fortune cookies. Terrible food, terrible service to go. So disappointed came to 52.00 and my son tipped the to go order 5.00. The BEST eggrolls EVER , EVER. They are nice and crunchy not greasy they are filled with a lot of veggies. One thing I don't like is when egg rolls are soggy !!! China City eggrolls are perfect they are so delicious periodt !! They come with this bright red dipping sauce OMG this sweet candy sauce is yummy. They need to bottle it for resale it tastes like cherry candy it's a little tangy but sooooo good! I usually order the same items asparagus chicken, EGGROLLS and combination fried rice with everything in it chicken, pork, beef and shrimp. It's really good I don't know how they fry their rice but its not sticky or gummy it's just right. China City is a neighborhood gem the service is fast there is plenty of seating. My husband and I ate at China City today...usually a great place to eat food id always delious. of my favorite places but we felt a little rushed..as soon as we both were finished, the waitress signaled the waiter to give us the check..we wanted to get something to go, we even said that to the waiter when we ordered, same waiter, we ordered from, gave us the chexk said goodbye see you next time and we were being rushed to leave not physically but still ... we didn't do anything but eat and say thank you to the waiter..there were not a lot of customers and there were ones that came before us that were still there...so I am a little disappointed with China City Restaurant. I only give three stars because the quality of the food was good .as always but service was only okay. It might be better to get food to go than eat there..though...male sure you are clear with your order..especially if it is a big or family order. read more

You can either call to order(usually your order will be ready within 15mins) and they will can you when you take too long to get your order for pick up :) You can also order online in their website. I won't give one star because I some what enjoyed my fried rice but maybe I was just hungry. I was expecting a lot more after seeing great reviews. This was a very sad and unflavored dinner. Merry Christmas! It was the first year our family decided that we just didn't want to get on the struggle bus of having to cook and clean up on Christmas Day, we all wanted Chinese food so we called around and our luck China City was open on Christmas Day, we ordered takeout and had the egg rolls,chow mein (veggies), combination fried rice, honey walnut prawns, lemon chicken, Mongolian beef and Kung pow chicken. I have to say everything was absolutely delicious maybe it was because we didn't have to be around a hot stove or fighting with my family on what dish to bring, we could just focus on good food and great company.
