The restaurant was empty, came around 720pm or so. It was kinda humid inside. Our waitress was cool. The bathroom was nice and clean. I noticed they have a lot of take out and door dash orders because their phones were off the hook so our waitress was pretty busy. I ordered teriyaki shrimp combo. It was okay, but not authentic Chinese food. To me, it was mediocre, but my man and his daughter really love the food. They enjoyed it. I don't like leaving negative reviews, but yikes. Tried this place for the first time and it was a disappointment. I ordered the orange chicken rice bowl meal to go that came with a side of rice and 2 egg rolls. The chicken wasn't crispy or flavorful, had an odd chewy/gooey consistency and the rice was just ok. Same goes for the egg rolls...bland. However, I did order a Thai tea with boba and that was tasty. There's a lot of different flavors of boba teas, so I'll possibly try more of those, but the food? The Antioch Rice Bowl is located in Deer Valley Square, next to a Walgreens. The area is busy, with plenty parking The inside of the restaurant is clean, tranquil and spacious. We arrived around 4PM on a Sunday: it was busy with takeout orders. We were seated by the host, who also was running the restaurant by herself. She did an asking job I ordered the combination chow mein, which under delivered. Some of the pasta was stiff, and very greasy. I couldn't finish half of it, so it was a bummer. My mother ordered the $8.95 special, which consisted of chow mein, rice, orange chicken and a drink. Cook super rude. I've been eating here for years, noodles we ordered vegetables are hard as hell, noodles had basically uncooked broccoli. Called to get things resolved then got accused of always calling and the food not being right, when we have never had to do so. I didn't think this was as bad as others have cracked it up to be but I also didn't order via DoorDash or a variety of things either. It's many tiers below Double Dragon, which is my favorite Chinese restaurant in Antioch. But it's also better than, like, Panda Express. Awh man, aw man. I try not to leave negative reviews but my experience was awful. I wasn't going to review because I had only ordered 1 thing, but it was pretty bad, I had to let the people know. I had only ordered Kung Pao Chicken to eat with my steamed rice that I had at home. The Kung Pao Chicken had celery, zucchini, peanuts, mushrooms, and of course, chicken, and the sauce. First off, the sauce was super oily, in which looked like they cooked it in with hot oil, which doesn't seem like a bad idea, until they put too much of it in. The celery and zucchini were EVERYWHERE. Barely any chicken, maybe about half a cup of chicken. The mushrooms were okay, but possibly canned mushrooms. The chicken too was pretty bad. The chicken was cut in small, skinny pieces. I'm not too sure what was wrong with the chicken, but when I bit into every single piece, it just mushes up in my mouth, like it wasn't real meat, almost like a vegan alternative (I used to be vegan). On top of all that, there were a few bites that were BITTER! What was it? I have no clue, but I know that Kung Pao chicken is not supposed to be bitter (used to work at a Chinese restaurant). Overall, the flavor was lacking, just spiciness. The sauce was oily, and you could tell because the orange color oil separated from the brown sauce. The dish was mainly vegetables (cheap veggies at that), and the chicken was bad. Go elsewhere; hope this place does better, but I won't be ordering from here again. read more

Ok I'm writing this review, I am conflicted on how many stars, because customer service was on point and the restaurant is clean, some of the food was good and some was not so good. The customer service is a 5 , Jamar helped us and he was very nice, patient and whatever he wasn't sure he would asked. The smoothie was a 5! It was freshly made and it had a nice flavor! However if you want to get boba they do not have almond milk only regular milk. The Thai tea was ok , but I feel like it was old , usually you mixed it your self it was already orange, if you usually get Thai tea you'll know what I'm talking about. The food was cheap flavor was average Chinese food, except the chicken teriyaki it tasted like perfume. The Sweet and Sour Chicken looked dead and abnormal, tasted old, I mean, fridge 3 days old.The texture looked like some type of grey discount fish, and the skin peeled with each fork probe. The sauce was bitter, salty and very runny. I was disappointed when I opened the container, the usual medley of pineapple and bell peppers did not exist. The 1 or 2 pineapple and pepper pieces I did find, gave no relief to this dish, as they were mushy and flavorless. Mongolian Beef I don't know who they were trying to fool with this dish, 99.5% of this was cooked bell pepper, onion and jalapenos, all hacked up into different cuts with no attempt at being uniform or sauteed. The meat...uggh. I've never seen meat expanded into a sponge, rubber soggy like substance. Seems as a last ditch effort they decided to throw some crushed red peppers on top and call it day. I came in here on a non busy hours. The place is good. I love the orange chicken. This was recommended to me and it did not disappoint. It tastes really good and you can see the chicken inside soft and tender. I didn't wait long for my food as well. I would definitely come back here. I arrived close to the time that I was supposed to pick up the food, was told it would be ready in 7 mins...30 mins later, food was finally ready. Overall, the flavors of the chowmein was decent, green beans w/black beans was good, salt & pepper pork chop would have been great if it wasn't mostly bone. It's ridiculous the amount of money I spend on food here and now I have a problem that when you order your food you should be able to customize your order!! Ridiculous how much of a hard time the restaurant gives me when I request to add extra soy sauce or gravy to my dried beef broccoli. I ordered 2 party trays of beef and broccoli which they mentioned could feed about 10 people per tray, however, for the amount of other food I had provided, these trays ended up feeding way more people! The quality and taste was great and I will be returning to try their other dishes. Ordering and pick up was very easy and the price for the tray wasn't bad compared to other places I've looked at. I love their Thai ice tea too it is delicious. My boyfriend and I usually do Togo but the last two times we ate inside and the ambience is nice and relaxing. The chow me in we ordered tasted like soy sauce and ketchup, very bad combination. Oh, and I asked for extra hot mustard since we ordered 10 egg rolls. I also asked for some Soy sauce. Been coming here since they opened. Helps that I only live a couple blocks away. In my neighborhood we have many restaurants to choose from, especially through the convenience of Doordash & the like. That said I find myself here - just about once per week for pu . Such an awesome friendly vibe from the Staff of family. From the phones to cashier's, and the owners , whom will actually come out n have a friendly chit chat with. Not to mention The Food. I usually get stuck with the things I have enjoyed in the past....too good to try something new. Lol . My go to's, Garlic boneless chkn, pork egg foo young, loaded with BBQ pork on top.... Can't forget their Wor Wonton Soup. Generous portions of all meats....the broth is exceptionally delicious and warms the soul - the cold evenings here can be enticing warmed by this simple yet hearty soup. disappointing - was looking for an alternative to panda express but i regret that now. placed an order last week through door dash at 5:15pm for pick up. the app told us be there by 5:30 so went inside on time and a young employee with an attitude had "just printed out our order" and said it'd be an additional 15-20 minutes. strike one. waited in the car and went back in at 5:47, food still wasn't ready and they said they were still working on it. a lot of other customers inside seemed sick of waiting for their food too. strike two. finally my boyfriend got our order and by that time it was 6:02. we hadn't eaten almost all day so we were starving, but when we started eating our food we were sorely disappointed. the orange chicken was all breading and no chicken, the flavor was off and it tasted bitter, and the chow mein, even with soy sauce, was disappointing. potstickers were bland, egg rolls were bland. strike three. i usually hate writing 1 star reviews but i think this establishment needs help in more than one area. unfortunately don't recommend this place until food and service improves somehow. read more

This is my go-to for Chinese food. I always get free egg rolls with my order because I always spend $35-40 per order. Their portions are huge for what you pay. I did order here last night only because it was closest to where my daughter was to pick up. I have a cold and wanted hot won ton soup and dinner for the family that I did not have to cook. Won Ton soup- it was 3 stars ok. The won ton itself had ground pork and shrimp. Good amount of bok choy and other vegetables and cha-siu ( bbq pork slices) and beef,chicken, shrimp. It was a bit pricy for the amount you get- but what isn't these days in this inflationary environment, so it is ok. One of the better won ton soups in this area. Sweet sour chicken was ok. Hard to tell if it would have been crispier if it wasn't take out. I like mine crispy. It was a bit soggy by the time it came home. Kids like this dish and probably better in the restaurant- so 3 stars. Mongolian beef had green bell pepper which I like just onions in mine as most restaurants have. I normally like green bell pepper, but not in my Mongolian beef. So 2.5 here. Gave me free fried rice due to my order must have been over a certain amount, and that was decent so 3 stars. I can't complain, it was complimentary which is nice. Chow mein was ok nothing spectacular so a solid 3 stars here. I like to spice it up with OXO hot spice ( have a jar at home) which adds to it and makes it good! So overall a 2.9 rating ( rounded up to 3). Think with the Boba offerings they have ( which I am excited to try, but haven't yet) I will say a solid 3 star restaurant. Nothing spectacular and not as great as when it first opened, but when you are hungry and in the area or want something close by after shopping Safeway ( better than the Safeway Chinese deli at least), then it is ok. read more
