Asian Cafe has huge menu. It was difficult to choose from the menu but walls with lots of colored pictures assisted us in making our selection. We had the garlic Chinese broccoli. It was slightly salty with tons of garlic which we liked. The crunch from the stems of the broccoli was perfect texture we were looking for. The satay sauce combo chow fun was little different than what we expected. We expected more savory and saucy dish but it was more dry and spicy flavor. However, it actually was a good dish. It was large portion with plenty of protein. The bitter melon spare rib hotpot was ok. The flavor was decent but the spare ribs were over cooked. I'm guessing it was cooked in pressure cooker from the texture. I was hoping for a little more springy chewy texture here. Overall it was decent inexpensive meal. I like that they actually serve authentic Chinese food from Hong-Kong and other areas. A group of us ordered several things and they were delicious. I got the beef noodle soup with wonton and it tasted very authentic. My other friends got a few other things like rice and scrambled eggs and my other friend got beef and Chinese broccoli. I can't tell this is a popular place as they had a steady stream of customers of all ethnicities while I waited to get my food. I'm sorry, if u like your job or unhappy about something doesn't give her right to be treated her customers that way. I had been there for years and the food is always great. Long story short. We got our food never once she came by to see if we need anything else. We ran out of water and need a container to go. So we went up and paid for our food and didn't leave her a tip. Pay attention people, this place is the real deal. I'm in AZ for work and doing my typical thing when traveling and alone for dinner. I tend to look for Chinese take-out to eat in my hotel room. I feel too pathetic to sit in a restaurant all alone eating so would rather work while I eat. Found this place with the help of Arizona local on Yelp. I was really not prepared for what I found since as I was driving to it, it seemed to be a largely Hispanic area I was driving through. I was worried I was going to find a place specializing in Chung King Chow Mein or another Westernized equivalent. Much to my surprise, I found a strip mall small restaurant with good parking and a hodge-podge of visual food images on the wall with some really authentic stuff. This, coupled with a fairly busy kitchen and wait staff hustling to chop tofu and serve tea in a dining room that really had no decor but was full of Chinese people and my interest radar went up immediately. Panda Express this is not. The first few pages of the menu do have all the standard Western favorites but towards the end, you are rewarded with a "Hong Kong" style menu and it has a lot of great stuff on it. Scrambled eggs and Bitter Melon, Chicken Fried Rice with Salted Fish, and great looking seafood dishes too! Upon placing an order, I sat and waited and could hear the kitchen staff yelling things at each other in Chinese (just like in Hong Kong) and knew that things were going to turn out all right. This is a great little find with affordable prices and large portions. In addition, the authenticity is awesome for being in the middle of the desert southwest! The positive reviews were accurate. Dishes were prepared with no MSG and wonderful sauces. Restaurant is clean and atmosphere is basic down home. So glad a friend introduced me to ACE. Phenomenally great food and incredible service. I normally am too busy wolfing down the food to remember to take pictures but I remembered this time! Started with Dumpling in chili sauce. 4 pieces and worth every bit for a quick appetizer. They had it out in 3 mins after ordering. Then our family of 4 devoured 4 family style dishes including Beef (dry) Chow Fun, salt and pepper squid (we asked for little heat), Yin and Yang Fried rice and Orange Chicken The beef chow fun was soft, juicing and so tasty. The Yin and Yang was a very interesting and extremely tasty combination of shrimp in a cream sauce combined with chicken in a tomato sauce (sounds weird but it works) served over egg fried rice - favorite dish of 2 people. The s&p squid had a ton of juicy and tender meat. I wish we would have kept the heat but wifey said no. The orange chicken was probably the least favorite but we still devoured it. The one down fall is the ambiance is a bit dated. But we don't care about that. Oh and the pricing is freaking awesome. All 5 dishes came to $59 after tax. Visiting for Denver this February '24 and dined here 2X. Each time was really very good. It's family owned for 19 years; the chef (s) are brothers and the waitstaff are sisters. Everything seems to be homemade, fresh...not stuff out of a can which almost all Chinese restaurants serve and tastes the same these days. For our soup, we shared the hot & sour which had the traditional spicy flavors but chock full of chicken, tofu and vegetables...almost a full meal by itself. The variety of menus choices are mind boggling and one has to wonder how they get most everything so right at such reasonable prices. If you order the larger portions of most any dish, be prepared to bring home the left-overs for a nice second meal or lunch. Our only regret in leaving Mesa for home, is that we won't be able to enjoy this lovely Asian Cafe on a regular basis. read more

We had the pork egg rolls, the pork dumplings, and the chile salted chicken wings. All delicious!
