I've ordered takeout from Asian Bites several times now, and it's hands down the best Chinese restaurant in the PV area. Since there really aren't any Chinese restaurants in PV, it's such a welcome addition. My usual order includes the Xiao Long Bao, beef chow mein, and scallion pancakes, and they've all been consistently delicious. What really sets Asian Bites apart is the customer service. The owner and staff are incredibly kind and even accommodated my daughter's special request for salt and pepper crispy tofu, even though it's not on the menu. Got the Chicken Chow Mein, Chicken with String Bean and a cup of Hot & Sour Soup. Everything was delicious. The Chow Mein and the Chicken w/String Bean were flavorful. The Hot & Sour Soup had a nice texture. You can see they used tofu, bamboo shoots and mushrooms (regular and wood ear) in their ingredients for the soup. My only suggestion would be to add a splash or two of vinegar for more acidity. Service was very friendly and prompt. Decent amount of booths and tables for inside dining. No issues with parking since they are located in the PV Promenade. Definitely a mom and pop shop, which are really cool to support. Definitely will be back to dine in so that I can try their Green Scallion Pancake and Potstickers (I think fried items are best to eat right away so you get that crispiness). read more

Asian Bites at the Promenade PV is a great little hidden gem for quick, Chinese food. It's located inside the shopping center next to Misc Coffee. There is plenty of easy parking in the mall's parking structure. The ambiance is very simple and casual - there are only about 4 seats, so it's definitely more of a takeout spot, but we were able to grab a table and eat there. Despite the small space, it felt welcoming and efficient. The service was excellent - fast, attentive, and friendly. Our server made sure everything came out quickly, and the food arrived in no time. The cook (who seemed like the owner) was incredibly impressive - she was cooking at lightning speed. Honestly, it was amazing... I wish I could cook that fast! We ordered the Chicken Chow Fun, Shrimp with Broccoli, Hot & Sour Soup, and Sautéed String Beans with Beef. Everything was good, with the standout being the shrimp with broccoli - the sauce was rich and flavorful. The chow fun was also well done, with perfectly cooked noodles. The hot & sour soup also had good flavor and was a good portion (that we were able to split it with two people). The string beans with beef were tasty too, though I think it could've used a bit more garlic or seasoning compared to the shrimp dish. They also have a self-serve drink station, which is a nice, convenient touch. What really stood out was the hospitality - when we asked for a bag, the cook/owner came out herself to help pack our food, which was such a kind gesture. I visited during their soft opening. It's a small casual dining atmosphere with four booths. You order and pay at the counter, they hand you a pager, and your food is delivered to your table. There are the usual condiments at each table. Ie, Soy sauce, sriracha. The interior of the restaurant was clean. I ordered a cup of Hot & sour soup; Vegetarian potstickers; Chicken & corn dumplings; and Chicken chow fun. All the food tasted great. The hot & sour soup is listed as spicy and it was as advertised. The potstickers and dumplings come eight to an order. I enjoy eating authentic Chinese food. Service was friendly and efficient. As I was eating, I was already planning on being a repeat customer. Asian Bites it's a great new addition to restaurant culture not only on the hill, but particularly in the Promenade PV. Ever since I noticed that they were going to bring a new restaurant into this unit, I was very happy to see that it was going to be, at least partially, orientated towards dumplings. This is something that we really need up here on the hill. A good source for pot stickers and dumplings. This restaurant certainly does not disappoint. The food that's offered at this restaurant reminds me of the Chinese food that I ate all throughout my childhood in LA's Chinatown. Meaning, it's a mixture of traditional and modern. This restaurant really brings these two elements together and truly produces some great dishes. I was so happy to see when this restaurant finally opened. I came to it first, during its soft opening. So, the way they evolved from this point in time may change a little bit from the way I'm going to talk about it right now. What you do, when you go into this restaurant, is to place your order at the front counter. Once you have done that, if you're going to eat in, they give you a number, and you go and grab one of their booths. Then, they bring out your food when it has been prepared. The way they are bringing the food to the tables, at least during the soft opening, is in to-go containers. I have no problem with this, because if you don't eat it all, this is a great way to take any leftovers home with you. I don't know if they're going to continue doing this as they become more established or not, but for right now it's fine Obviously, this restaurant is set up to not only be a dine-in business but a great to-go location, as well. And, I believe that they will serve that function very-very well. This restaurant is easy to find. It's located just down the mall from Good Stuff. And, as you may know, there's tons of parking at the Promenade, so you'll never have a problem getting a spot. Overall, this restaurant is a great addition to the area. We really needed a very good Chinese food restaurant up here. And, I believe, this business truly suits the bill. read more

The food here is so good!! I love going to the theater here and I had passed by this restaurant so I wanted to try it since I love dumplings. 10000000/10 ! The food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the shrimp and pork dumplings, xiao long bao, beef chow mein and chicken fried rice and it was all so good. The portions are big too I had plenty to take home for leftovers, which I am excited to eat later. My friend had ordered the house fruit tea drink and I gave it a try, really good drink. I understand inflation, I understand rent, I understand nice packaging and a decent takeout operation. But there is a point where a vegetable side dish becomes a moral event. The string beans were good. They were not "sit down and reconsider your relationship with money" good. At $18, I expect those beans to have a backstory, a mentor, and a third-act emotional breakthrough. Instead, they were just string beans. Tasty string beans, sure. But still: string beans. RPV pricing has gotten out of control, and Asian Bites is a perfect example of the moment when you open the menu, blink twice, and wonder if you accidentally wandered into a luxury bean boutique. The guy was nice enough, but we called a bit after opening and they didn't have any dumplings or buns made. Like... isn't that what a restaurant does? They didn't offer to make them or tell us when they'd be done. The food we got was maybe SLIGHTLY better than Panda Express but maybe half the portion size and MUCH more expensive. I may give them another shot one day, but if they're missing entire sections of the menu again, I'll just get Panda Express. read more

Came during the soft opening. Was really looking forward to this place opening based on their menu. Ordered the shrimp and pork dumpling steamed and braised beef noodle soup as those are very staple dishes. The dumpling filling tasted good, but I have never experienced dumpling skin that was so thick. Even if I ordered the potsticker version the skin would be too thick. I can't tell if they handmade these. If they did, even store-bought dumpling skins would be better. My mother in law and husband both agreed. Braised beef in the soup had good flavor and right amount of lean to fat. The soup was practically in edible. It tasted like they put way too much vinegar. It either is part of the soup stock or the pickled vegetables that were added as garnish made the soup way too sour. Since it is the soft opening, I will maybe try them again if they are still around at the end of the year. read more

Asian Bites is a wonderful casual eatery addition to the Promenade in Palos Verdes! The food was great! We stopped by Asian Bites at the Promenade after our movie. We decided to eat inside the restaurant which was small and cozy. Everything we ordered (Green Scallion Pancake, Hot & Sour Soup and Beef Curry) came out quickly and was delicious. The Hot & Sour Soup is a new favorite I'll be ordering again. This is a small asian restaurant with limited indoor seating, but they do a lot of to go business. First time to order last night. It was a long wait after ordering, but they are still in their soft opening. That said, it was worth the wait! Had the green onion pancake, shrimp and pork dumplings (wonderful filling!) and the chicken chow fun. All was tasty, the noodles came with plenty of tender chicken, and all still warm by the time we got home! So glad to have something like this since Fu Yuan Low left the Peninsula Center!
